After years of this shit and multiple tournaments and can only wholeheartedly agree.
Yu-Gi-Oh is not made with fairness in mind. If you're looking for "fair" try another card game. It's not like there's no skilled involved. Becoming good at it takes a lot of work.
But snowballing advantage and ideal game states being not letting your opponent play the game at all are just baked into the game now.
There is not fixing this because that's the essence of modern Yu-Gi-Oh!. The current pace of the game and the explosiveness of cards is so high that everything needs to be a blowout card if you want it to be viable.
I'm not trying to shit on people who play Yu-Gi-Oh. I'm super involved with that game. But the nature of the game is that it often feels unfair because there's no other way to play at this point.

Having Maxx C in hand evens out the otherwise huge disadvantage of going second in an era of 2+ omni-negates on board turn 1.
What a healthy gamestate. Either be lucky and go first, or be lucky and draw Maxx C.
The mere existence of Maxx C discourages people from playing blind-first solitaire combo decks and rewards midrange decks, which are much more realistic to play against when going second even if you didn't draw the roach.
It doesn't though. Look at the top ten decks. They are all special summon combo decks with the exception of Floo, which their whole deal is operating outside dominant meta deck strategies.
The only real combo decks in the meta right now are Adamancipators and Ishizu schizo piles. Maybe PUNK too depending on how loose your definition of "meta" is. Historically MD has been overwhelmingly dominated by Mid-Range decks.
Even with a deck that special summons a couple of times per time gets capped by Maxx "C", with the user going from either card neutral to +2 in advantage. All while gimping their turn. It's still overpowered, regardless of how you shake it.

BLS Link-3 has to compete in extra deck space against other good Link-3s that are more impactful: Unicorn, Transcode, or Selene. The later two more useful going into Accesscode which accomplishes what BLS wants to do.
The last two aren't generic enough, especially Transcode
gaia or bls may be fun in some events (sadly it missed legend anthology) but don't expect to make anything remotely competitive with it.

Depends on what people are playing and what the meta looks like. It's more of a side deck card. The opponent has to be playing monster effects on your turn, which pile decks do if they end on apollousa shit, then the monsters also can't leave the field. So in short it can be useful, but not always.

Spright is literally mid-range, it's just that it's possibly the post powerful kind of mid-range we've ever had. Yes, even stronger than kashtira.
The power ceiling of combos hasn't raised much since the pre-TOSS era where we had Gumblar looping the opponent to death, whereas mid-range decks went from zoodiac to basically not existing, to then sky striker (pure) to then salamangreat and then branded and swordsoul for another jump in powercreep, and then spright and kashtira for yet another jump - even more massive that the one from salamangreat to the aforementioned two.

that's how power creep works. Combo decks used to be like D/D/D whose original bread and butter combos required at least 3 cards in hand and ended on Crystal Wing + Titanic Galaxy + one Contract with the Witch set. Also fun fact, Divincarnate is a really good Small World Bridge for searching Fairy cards. There's not a lot of Fire Fairy cards that are actually useful to also have around for Small World.

What gets me is that a lot of combo decks are supposed to be weak to being disrupted to prevent the combo from happening, which is where control decks shine.
What ACTUALLY happens is that combo decks have a lot of powerful walking negates and multiple ways to get their combo starter out while control decks are weak to being disrupted by combo boss monsters.
What the absolute fuck is the point of control decks then? They're only effective if they go first AND the opponent doesn't have a going second card AND they don't get cucked by Ash Blossom or Maxx C or Nibiru or Psyframe Gamma or any of the other 100 hand traps people carry as default.
Literally the only time control works is if it veers into stun or you're fighting baby's first game using an anime deck like fucking Harpies or Toon
In Yugioh a control decks' strong point is not in how good it is at disrupting, it's in resource generating. The disruptions are there to slow down the game to allow you to live long enough to outresource your opponent. A combo deck's disruptions are there to totally shut down the opponent for one full turn so you can kill them on the next.
There just hasn't been a good control deck in a while, and it's not surprising with how much bitching you see about mediocre control decks like Altergeist.
But a game only lasts like 2 or 3 turns at most in general. If combo can totally shut down an opponent for 1 turn, it means the opponent can't do anything for 33% to even 50% of the entire game and that's broken as shit. No wonder the best decks are all combo.

My autism unfortunately monkeys out at anything with daily log in shit. I keep thinking like I need to keep playing or I'm losing out on shit. I started playing numeron just to get my daily missions done faster (I'm aware of the whole 'only claim the 3 missions you can complete the easiest' thing) but I'm so fucking angry at the game that by the time I'm done with my dailies I want to quit for the day.
I'm so sick of playing numeron but its the only deck I've played for 2 weeks because its my daily clearing deck and I only do dailies. I haven't even touched events, I JUST do dailies like its my fucking job.
Yugioh is is an awful TCG but its still miles better than the competition, which is just how bad things have gotten. I havent played it but Digimon looks good but someone said in an earlier thread that its getting ridiculous powercreep while only being like 2 years old.
Does Yugioh have other game modes like Magic does? With limited sets to build from or draft cubes or anything?
Legacy of the Duelist had a draft mode, but MD only has some events that change each month.
How come Konami keeps shilling anime/nostalgia cards like DM, Blue Eyes and most recently Gaia but at the same time don't make them competitive? Wouldn't being competitive help sell the archetype?

You can notice a lot of anime decks seem to have a similar powerlevel, they are intended to be played between anime enthusiasts. If only 1 of them was better than the other it would be awkward, and it's easier to balance if they are not trying to make it the next best deck.
2)Making an anime card too good that it requires a limit/ban would be pretty bad PR.
See what happened with Vrains and Firewall dragon. They probably regret to this day not making Firewall a meme ace from the start. These are the cards that the marketing team will focus on so it's really bad if the players relate them with broken decks. Players usually end up resenting decks that are too strong.
3)Relating to the previous point, "bad decks" are more digestible (for the general crowd) and harder to hate.
Konami wants everyone to like anime decks because they will be shilled until the game dies, and for that reason it's better than they are bad, or at least, worse than anything meta.
Wait but isn't Blue Eyes way better than other anime decks? People say its bricky, but that's only true if played against higher tier decks who pack a lot of negates that stop searches and special summons.
Kind of? It's on the better side but it's only significant better compared to the really bad anime archetypes (like Red-eyes), OR if they are splashed with other shit like Branded (I guess the version that's just Dragubilon turbo would kill most anime decks too).
Honestly Dark magician or Heroes would probably win most of the time, and Vrain era decks are usually pretty busted too. If anything I would roll my eyes if I was playing "anime decks" and someone went in with Cyberse piles because Yusaku.

If you ever think you're going to run lab or backrow decks in general get the solemn pack. It has judgements and strikes. You can pull abia abyss, it has the majority of cards you need for branded and leaves very little to manually craft.

They retrained all her main deck monsters (except Zolga) to be GY hate turbo kind of like Ishizu hersolf tried to basically remove all her cards from her deck only to reverse it on Kaiba so he had no resources left. Ishizu is currently being either played as a mill engine for degenerate self mill strategies or GY hate turbo in a couple decks.

Gravekeeper is more of a Stun style, Ishizu is way more control oriented, except for the Gravekeeper's Trap Trap.

The best stun decks are better than the best control decks but there are still extremely bad stun decks and better than average control decks.
Stun decks are basically pray you go first and draw the Trap (or in Gravekeeper's case get to Blackvalley). Control decks can play first or second or either depending on the deck and vary in effectiveness depending on the player's skill and deck build. Ishizu as GY hate tool is way more effective than Gravekeeper's strategy, especially because it has synergy with other decks. Those cards are just not fucking designed well in the best way. It is extremely fun but also extremely broken and also makes games take WAY WAY longer even if you know what you're doing. I remember Ganker hating on Tear mirrors with that one pic from a YCS where there were a gorillion mills on the table, well we're here now. I'm already going up on the timer with this shit because GY shufflers open up so many options and choices to make against your opponent sometimes and even shuffling back your own cards.

I started playing yugioh right before pendulums came out when the game had a somewhat reasonable pace. I quit because the game just became so fast and you could shit out so many monsters on turn 1 it just wasn't fun anymore

it was fast but I felt like turns lasted a bit longer than they did after pendulums. Instead of shitting out an entire board of giant monsters it was more like you'd summon 1 or 2 big monsters then put down some traps.
Hand traps are a good example because iirc there weren't really any hand traps before pendulums (at least not meta ones). Regular traps are just too slow now

I think konami should've put a special summoning limit a while ago. I know they never will but I think some of my issues with the game would be resolved if implemented this rule and actually started balancing the game around this
Naw, they'll just include a bunch of archetypes with arbitrary ways to get around the restriction. For example, did you know that when Numerons summon their 4 gates it only counts as a single summon? This means Numeron gets through a lot of limited number summon traps and effects

In my ZOMBIE deck I can end on an I:P, Borrel, PEP, ELF, and Baronne. Do you see a single zombie? It's fucking stupid.

It's all about the giant monsters with a lot of powerful effects that you summon and they're just too strong and easy to pull out. Handtraps are just crazy from a speed perspective cause they're essentially just traps that ignore a few of the games rules because they're too ineffective if they were regular traps

The REAL problem with Yugioh is that all the best monsters have a ton of powerful effects and a big attack number which makes them hard to punch over. To balance it out, they should either be really weak with strong effects or the other way around. For example, consider Baronne

I'm glad the released Ishizu first. It proves the problem was always Ishizu, not Tears. This means Tears will get off more easily in MD. With Kitkallos probably never seeing the banlist.

That's wrong though. Pre-Ishizu Tear weren't a problem and struggled to keep up with a nerfed Spright. Meanwhile, even without Tears, Ishizu is breaking decks left and right causing all sorts of overpowered combinations and FTKs.
It's evident Tears can remain mostly untouched if you delete Ishizu from the game.

Limiter Removal or Droplet. But they need to be run in 3s.
LR is going to be more relevant than you think, especially since you're running so many board wipes, since you can't OTK on a clear board without it.
Droplet is great cause it not only negates, tossing tons of cards you won't need, but it also lowers attack across the board, making the OTK that much easier.
For the ED, you want that Link 3 Earth Machine that's hard to kill, and Apollusa. When you fail to OTK, they both make good backups. Avramax too for similar reasons.
Personally though, I'd go for a triple set of the Numeron XYZ, the Numero board Nuke, then Apo and the Earth Machine.

I haven't climbed to 20 yet but I haven't seen a single pile deck during the event yet (granted I'm only DLv15 at the moment). Literally every punk deck I saw went into Dragon Drive instead (and I saw a decent amount of Punks). I keep hearing about these pile decks but haven't faced them, although apparently they are getting more popular on OCG too, but whether it's here or in OCG, there are better decks in general (and OCG pile decks don't even need Ruler to pop off).
So anyway, I'm not feeling it (if anything Ishizu cards are more likely hits), but I wouldn't put it past them.

Sounds like ADHD to me. I'm perfectly content with the 20+ decks I've already got. Most of the stuff that goes further back than what I've built is literally unplayable, or boring combo cancer.
I don't see why I should stay hooked on trying "build next deck" when there's very little outside of what I already have that genuinely interest me. 90% of Yu-Gi-Oh is generic comboshit that plays the same anyway. It doesn't really matter what pictures you put on the cards, you're still effective just opening your starters, hoping you don't get disrupted too hard, and playing solitaire for 10 mins in order to deny your opponent from playing. The only decks I care about are the ones that add at least a little variety to this formula. But once you've played s handful of the typical combo decks, there's not much excitement behind the other NEW shiny piece of digital cardboard that effectively does the exact same shit as everything else.
