If it was the MGS collection Flynn wouldn't tease it because he wouldn't be contact in to do more work, him teasing it implies it's new work he's involved in.

Metal Gear games had voiced in game controls tutorials referring to actual buttons. For MGS HD, they actually recoded new lines specifically for 360, probably Vita as well, I didn't play it on Vita

I've been trying to tell you homosexuals, it's Metal Gear Revelry. An Anon who's a Konami employee leaked it over a year ago.

    https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/559940205/#559940205

It's basically going to be something more similar to the original MGS: Rising concept, supposedly more horror focused; it's made by Konami Production Team 8 and some ex-Platinum devs.

      Anonymous

That post has stuck with me because while it does make a few odd claims, it isn't particularly outlandish.

"Project Solid"? That lines up with the outsourced MGS3 Remake. Metal Gear Acid for mobile would fit Konami. I could see a situation where they have a Rising remaster, Rising sequel, new Acid, and MGS3 Remake.

        Anonymous

The thing that sells it for me is that he admits he's speaking from a point of partial ignorance, he's seen some games but since he's working for the marketing department he's not any more informed than he needs to be.

The most interesting part is when he talks about "Project Solid"
        >What about the Metal Gear Solid remake?
        >Project Solid might be that? Literally all we've had to work with for merch material so far are FOX patches and Snake's silhouette - though it's not distinct enough to predict anything. I know through the grapevine that Hatsuyama's the current director on it but that's the biggest detail about it.

Notice how he specifically namedrops "FOX patches", which implies it's not MGS1 but MGS3. This was over a year before rumors started about a MGS3 remake by Virtous studios, most of the talk at this point was in regards to BluePoint doing a MGS1 remake.

Its amazing how Armstrong stole the show despite not existing until the last hour

            Anonymous

I'd say though that Armstrong's villain rating is way too high.
            >First confronts Raiden, gives a bullshit speech about how he's continuing the work of the Patriots just to piss off Raiden specifically, as a last 'frick you' before he kills him
            >Raiden beats his mech so he changes tune a bit and starts saying how he's against the patriots and wants to basically fix american society, trying to win Raiden over
            >Raiden rejects him and so he just decides 'enough talk' and tries to kill him now that his beliefs failed to turn him
            >Raiden then beats him at which point he tries to turn things around and claim that Raiden is somehow his successor by proving him right

Look I get it, Armstrong is a great villain, he's a good show. But let's be real his motives are flippant and basically amount to "might makes right". Also 'find fault in'? Ignoring the fact he harvested children to be drone pilots, none of his own lackeys even agree with his motives. Armstrong is unironically the same as Sundowner he "lusts for power". That is his entire motivation.

It will pull a The Last of Us 2 where we see Raiden's brain get pulled out of his exoskeleton and get crushed to a pulp as his son watches like a mix between Robocop 2, Murphy's dismemberment scene and Cain's death scene.

Horror in action games is more about theme and atmosphere.

actually, that was changed for story reasons even though I still think Suda is moronic for doing so. Half the reason Henry is cool is his Irish accent. Frick me Suda is so stupid nowadays it's really depressing.

          Anonymous

Yeah, I thought about that, but it's not like Quinton couldn't just drop the accent for the character transformation to be apparent. As it is Henry seems like a completely new character with the same name, and not an old one that has changed, so the repeat of the battle from NMH1 is far less impactful as a result.

It's crazy to me that Suda was completely fine with all this. He has no idea what made NMH1 so special. It doesn't help that his Twitter fans suck his dick no matter what he makes so now he thinks this trash is what we like.

NMH3 felt like it was made out of spite, Suda clearly didn't care about the story he just wanted an excuse to fellate Miike and make pop culture references.

It's depressing, especially after TSA which had a lot of potential in terms of narrative, even if the game itself was tedious and repetitive. I still have some faith in Suda to deliver on his future projects, but the last decade as a whole was bleak for grasshopper.

      Anonymous

      not necessarily
to be fair its not too hard to downgrade MGR's core combat. the moveset is shallow and bland outside of the Blade Mode, except its strongly carried by how fluid it is and the presentation

i believe its more likely the following happens
      >combat against normal enemies and player moveset in general is way better
      >presentation and characters are way worse, not even close to living up to the precedent set by Rising
      >bosses arent as interesting even despite the better moveset

Don't use ukraine directly, but have some fictional baltic country where they're doing it. You mad?

Without the military industrial complex, the US would be at a similar level of tech incompetence to the russians and chinese. Look at how only 40 US HIMARS systems (outdated tech from the 90s) was able to completely destroy the Russian army's entire logistical chains, leading to the capture of the kharkiv oblast and city of Kherson. Without the US MIC, Ukraine would have slowly but surely crumbled as they ran out of heavy weaponry and ammunition. So yes, the military industrial complex is a good thing and they exist for a reason.

The main theme was that soldiers are used as tools in the machinations of globalist would-be tyrants and all war was just another method of them gaining control over the populace but it simplifies into war bad but warriors good. War can happen but it should be for causes the individual soldier believes in not for money or government or geopolitics or any bullshit like that.

Play in release order, not chronological. The series makes no goddamn sense without the context of the prior games. You can partially get away with skipping Metal Gear 1 and 2 but you cannot skip Solid 1-3 without everything becoming nonsense entirely.
But the easiest way to sum up the main story is
                >The views of the two men also began to differ, in regards to the interpretation of The Boss's will: Zero took the concept to mean control of the entire world by a group under a single will to ensure unification; Big Boss believed that The Boss wanted a world where soldiers would not be used as tools of the government.
And everything stems from that struggle.

I disagree, play them in the chronological timeline. The timeline is this:
                >MGS3
                >Metal Gear Portable Ops
                >Peace Walker
                >Ground Zeroes
                >Survive(Yes, it's canon)
                >MGS5
                >Metal Gear
                >Metal Gear 2
                >Ghost Babel aka MGS1 on Game Boy Color(again, canon)
                >MGS1/Twin Snakes(it's not as bad as people make it out to be)
                >MGS2
                >MGS4
                >Reavangence

There is plenty of concepts introduced and hinted at early in the franchise, which make sense later on. There is a surprising amount of character building too, you won't know who the frick miller or liquid were or why Ocelot and Big Boss were a big deal unless you play the games in this order, for example

There is nothing of this sort, other than a cheeky reference in Portable Ops. Plus, if you haven't had some sort of exposure to the first 3 MGS games in some way, even without playing them, you must either be an ultra zoom-zoom or an ancient boomer. As someone who played these 3 back in the day on the PS2, I am very much enjoying myself playing the prequels, even tho I know how it will end up
Also, nothing wrong with Twin Snakes, Kojima loyalist. Game is arugably better in all the ways that matter(gameplay) than original, which is very much outdated today. Of course, it doesn't really much matter which version you play, it's the same story either way

I agree, I am looking forward to playing TS but only because I played the original on my PS2(actually, still own the discs just not a playstation to play it on)
Gameplay wise, it is 100% superior, MGS was basically just OG metal gears but in 3D, not surprising considering the game was originally titled Metal Gear 3. MGS2 and 3 spoiled me, can't play a 3D title that doesn't at least give me a tranq gun anymore

if "has more stuff and mechanics" means superior to you, I guess so, but the game's level design is nearly 1:1 to the original while having all the new bells and whistles like first person, walking, hanging, and tranq guns. it makes the game stupid easy, especially the bosses.

that's exactly what I am looking for, playing the older title in a brand new way
                >b-but it's easier!
Black person, MGS5 lets you stock up on heavy explosives and heavy weapons and just massacre the area if you want, unless the mission requires it, you don't need to ever use stealth in that game. Similarly, same thing goes for MPO and PW, Metal Gear hasn't been difficult for a long time, especially for someone who played MGS1 before and knows how to defeat these bosses already. Never got this argument

                >Never got this argument

Because you've never played Twin Snakes, the MGS2 controls straight up break a lot of the game's design. In MGS1 almost every player will encounter the guard seeing your footsteps in the snow in the beginning. In Twin Snakes you just enter first person and shoot every guard in the head from across the room so you'll probably just gonna miss it.

also, you're arguing as if MGS1 wasn't piss easy to begin with, the only thing that made it impossible to complete with guns blazing were infinitely respawning enemies, otherwise it would be an even bigger piece of cake

                >that's exactly what I am looking for, playing the older title in a brand new way
No, that's how it would be if they tried to do it more like

                >it's not but it's absolutely no replacement for the first game. it's objectively worse in almost every regard.
They needed to do what Capcom did with the RE 1 remake and add new areas. The one thing that really bothered me about Twin Snakes was how trivial the game was now that you couldf go FPS mode so they needed to add shit to compensate for how easy they made it.

said and accommodated the new features by adding new areas and reimagining old ones like REmake did. At the very least, they could reimagine the boss fights from the ground up for the new features, instead they're all the same and it's laughably easy. It would be like if they introduced co-op, strafing, and move-aiming to RE4 without changing anything else about the game. Also don't whatabout MGSV to me, I don't care. That game is a Metal Gear game in name only.

I didn't whine about MGSV once in my post, I just said using it as a reference point when talking about classic MGS games is moronic because it's absolutely nothing like the rest of them save maybe Peace Walker for the management aspect. And lazy copy-pasted level and scenario design that doesn't accommodate for new features is not a "non-problem".

Personally I feel the tranq gun actually ruins a lot of the games that incorporate it because playing the game 'the right way' means only using tranq and melee/CQC. This is especially fricking bad in MGS4 where you have this massive arsenal at your disposal buy you realistically only use the tranq pistol, moist nugget and maybe a shotty with stun rounds.

                [...]
I disagree, play them in the chronological timeline. The timeline is this:
                >MGS3
                >Metal Gear Portable Ops
                >Peace Walker
                >Ground Zeroes
                >Survive(Yes, it's canon)
                >MGS5
                >Metal Gear
                >Metal Gear 2
                >Ghost Babel aka MGS1 on Game Boy Color(again, canon)
                >MGS1/Twin Snakes(it's not as bad as people make it out to be)
                >MGS2
                >MGS4
                >Reavangence

There is plenty of concepts introduced and hinted at early in the franchise, which make sense later on. There is a surprising amount of character building too, you won't know who the frick miller or liquid were or why Ocelot and Big Boss were a big deal unless you play the games in this order, for example

I always play in release order sorry.

The central theme of MGR with the "muh war bad, military industrial complex bad" is a product of soviet/russian propaganda. It's out of date now that the world's come to realize that having a relatively benign world hegemon like the US is actually pretty nice when your giant moronic neighbor decides to invade you.

What exact Treaties were signed? I would like to see these Treaties since I can't seem to find anything related to treaties. Not that the Russians have a history of honoring treaties given they just tore up multiple nuclear ones and had their American puppet end the clear skies treaty.

Those were agreements made in regards to the militarization of east germany specifically prior to the collapse of the soviet union. There was no agreement made with the new russian state after the collapse, and if there had been Russia would have automatically voided it by invading it's neighbors.

Who is Russia to say whether or not countries can join NATO?

Spanish leaker from Areajugones with accurate playstation leaks in the past is now saying the long rumored MGS remake is getting announced this fiscal year, so sometime before April 2023. Lines up with Flynn's twitter post now teasing it.

It's now basically confirmed that we're getting Metal Gear announcements in the next weeks thanks to the spanish leaker and Flynn. If the Revelry leaks are real it means that Konami has been working on this game since at least Survive shipped in Feburary 2018, and they've been considering announcing it since 2021.This means the game has been in development for 5 years, is most likely like 95% finished and will almost certainly release this year.

the writing is going to be trash by being boring, and loudly pointing at current topics but have less than nothing to actually say about it

Survive improved MGSV's controls, it made better use of the map, but it just didn't have enough levels, very little reasons to use weapons, survival stuff ended up being nothing else but a hindrance after few hours, but it was still fun to play.

Core gameplay isn't the sole criteria of score, otherwise, I would rate Survive much higher.
It just left a bit more to be desired on the content side. Even if it lacked on the content side, it was still enjoyable.
If I were to score Fallout 3 and New Vegas solely on the core gameplay, which is directly related to combat, I would consider them as some of the worst shooters ever, yet I replayed them multiple times and got hundreds of hours in New Vegas.

Condemning Kiefer was not moronic, what was moronic was hiring a meme hollywood actor who is not even a voice actor to replace Hayter in such a rude way. Hayter who loves the characters, Hayter who chose to cut part of his pay to have the rest of the cast back, Hayter who doesn't think voicing Snake is a side gig.
Kojima just wanted to feel like a real Hollywood director.

That was precisely the problem. For most of the fans, MGS meant two things
            >Hideo Kojima
            >David Hayter
Kojima hated having to share the spotlight with him. He also disliked Hayter and was never a fan of his work, so he didn't think twice when he got the chance of kicking him out.

I don't know him as a person, [but] as a businessman I was not impressed. So no, I don't feel any need to go back and work with him again."
                >"I never felt like he was a particularly big fan of mine," Hayter lamented. "I was kinda hoping that Konami would bring me back now that he was gone."

                >As it turns out, Kojima had been trying to replace Hayter for years. The voice actor noted that he had to re-audition for MGS3 and 4 and that he heard that Kojima sought out Kurt Russell for MGS3, but the Escape From New York actor passed on it.

Keep in mind that Akio Ōtsuka has always been the seiyuu for both Solid Snake and Big Boss, so Kojima just wanted to get rid of Hayter. Kojima only has love for the japanese voice actors and for the hollywood actors he is friends with.

                Anonymous

This is ironic because Hayter was the most Hollywood person in the cast, seeing as how he wrote the X-men movies. The only person who might be considered more Hollywood than him was Phil LaMarr, but his biggest role was getting shot in the head in Pulp Fiction. It just makes me wonder how much control and awareness Kojima had over the english dub, since anyone who was even slightly aware of it knew Hayter's Snake was literally the most iconic voice performance in gaming right behind Charles Martinet's Mario.

                Anonymous

You have to understand that Kojima's real dream was always to work on Hollywood movies. MGSV was the first time he had the chance to get hold of a real star, and he was so into the idea that he decided to direct the motion capture stuff too. For better or worse, he poured his whole soul into MGSV. Kojima Productions and Death Stranding is the culmination of his dream.

So, no, he didn't really give a frick about Hayter writing the X-men movies, or the fans considering him the real Solid Snake.

Okay, and? How is that in any way related to your claim that Kojima is a huge narcissist who didn't want to "share the spotlight" with Hayter. He just didn't care about his performance.

I don't disagree Hayter's voice contributed a lot to MGS's image, but it's not like he handled the situation well either. His posts on social media, and even Jade Raymond (who herself has proven to be a hack/got more credit than she deserved for AssCreed) on the awards show by throwing Keifer under the bus. That shit was absolutely fricking petty beyond belief.

                >Okay, and? How is that in any way related to your claim that Kojima is a huge narcissist who didn't want to "share the spotlight" with Hayter.
Kojima being a huge narcissist is not a secret

                >A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME means the declaration of me doing concept, produce, original story, script, setting, game design, casting, dealing, directing, difficulty adjustments, promoting, visual design, editing, supervising the merch.

It's easy to connect the dots and imagine him not being that comfortable with the fans associating the series with Hayter, someone who he tried to replace multiple times because he just didn't like him.

                Anonymous

Your original argument still makes no sense. You understand that, right? You're fumbling for any piece of evidence to rationalize a position that insists that Kojima must be the biggest piece of shit imaginable all because he wanted a different VA for the main character in his own series, instead of coming to terms with the most simple explanation that he just never truly liked Hayter's performance. Why go this far? You just have an axe to grind.

Original MGS Rising concept was a test for his developers to make a MGS game without Kojima at the helm. Problem is that they fricked it up, Kojima didn't like it and the rebranded it as Revengance and gave it to Platinum.
You see, the original was going to be a stealth game with sword action aspects, you could also cut ANYTHING apparently. Problem is, they couldn't get it working properly or have it balanced for gameplay. It's why Revengance just leaned into the action

        >And you definitely don't want to do Survive ever again.
We dodged a bullet right there. Imagine if the game was somewhat successful and Konami decided to introduce the time travel concept on new main games.

Also all the new SH games would have survive game elements. Thank God that game failed holy shit.

It's going to be shit and it will just be another IP to add to the list of IPs that should have stayed dead. A soulless Revengeance game is the last thing anyone wants.

I don't know if I would be excited if they announced that they finished the second half of MGS V as it was intended to be. What would really blow my mind is if they added COOP to MGS V.

      >second half
Only a handful of missions were cut and they were almost turned into a DLC
The only thing that was unresolved in the final game is Eli’s plot thread people really overestimate how unfinished the game is

To be fair the ripping off was incredibly fricking blatant. Like it's not even "huh I can kind of hear it." it's almost the exact same. I totally understand why they didn't want to bring it back.

Yeah, but Konami could have easily dealt with that. Instead they just urged Kojima to stop using the fricking main theme.

I agree with PC ports, and just updated ports in general. These games shouldn't have to die on the PS2 and PS3

He did that to himself. I wish I could find that tweet where he painted fricking dots on his face to mock the idea of facial mocap. The guy was just embarrassing during that whole time period. He displayed the most anti-stoic, whiny attitude possible. No one likes seeing a man act that way.
