I'll be impressed when games start using AI chat bots to get NPC characters to talk to each other about things happening in the game.
How do you figure that'll work wihtout an always online connection
My PC is connected to the internet 100% of the time. I don't care.
>anon still uses his computer without the internet sometimes
Why even life anon?
I'd like to play my videogames without needing to be connected to the internet
But why though?
Because if my internet dies or if its having a bad day I still want to be able to play my videogames
>have no internet, no cool npc interaction
>have internet, cool npx interaction
problem solved
It should not be taken as a given that the internet will always be available.
>2 years in the future
>we're sorry to annonce that we're shutting down [Anon's AI RPG game] servers. Thanks for playing!
And just like that you will never play the game you like ever again.
you're glowing
The hardware will be powerful enough to run your own AI servers while playing the game at that point.
I think it's more limited by whether the tech will ever be open enough for that, than whether hardware will allow it. This is technology that is currently exclusively accessible through subscription based SAAS; why would any company want to give up that cash cow by even so much as releasing a closed-source standalone product?
It's not? You can easily run your own AI in your hardware, plenty of people are doing it
I don't see games having that anytime soon though. If we project hardware progress and AI progress it'll take several generations until we get to that point
You can run some image generation stuff, namely stable diffusion.
Text synthesis of any reasonable quality is still completely locked behind OpenAI's servers. All services that you can think of that do it (e.g. NovelAI) just use OpenAI's API to get their results.
i don't want to run bitcoin miners on my processor
real shit what's the performance hit of something like this running in the background and piggybacking off a potentially demanding game
Anon games already have resource demanding AI, see Hitman
We'll only implement AI when our CPUs are ready to handle it, but the objective is to always keep your hardware on its toes
never gonna happen, we have reached a soft cap of how good computers can get, you will only see diminishing returns from now on
we will never see a robot walking around with its computer brain in its body, as it will need a whole megacomputer complex to even run it
more likely people pay an extra $5 a month for an upgraded Gamepass that includes AI features that lets them use a certain number of AI generation calls per month, so the games they play take advantage of that when enabled
No it fucking won't lmao. ChatGPT runs off clusters of 8 Nvidia A100, and that's JUST the generation side, the training side used over 10,000 GPUs
It's definitely not feasible now but not out of question in the future.
Most people won't be training shit, and to run the model you mostly just need a lot of VRAM. I imagine generating just for yourself would be much less hardware intensive than responding to millions of prompts all over the world.
The biggest limitation is VRAM, processing power is already there but the way these models work is that you need to load the entire model into VRAM. Graphics Cards are generally made with low amounts of VRAM because you don't need that much for gaming and AI scaling wasn't a major factor until recently. Going forward GPUs are going to be packed with VRAM and allow these models to run locally.
in fucking 2223
Text generation takes retardedly powerful hardware to run effectively
>he doesn't know
New lightweight models leaked. Check the Ganker thread
I'm not even using the internet right now. I made my own quantum tunneling apparatus that sparks connections between my computer and all other computers in the world without the need for peasant "internet".
Making the devise was quite easy after successfully making a go into video games machine.
>Anons accidentally start supporting GAAS
Whoops!
>after 10 hours they start quoting fbi statistics
>listen now, Henry, it's weird how they are only 2% of the population but own 90% of the riches while many starve an-
>*CTDs*
>"error: AI malfunction"
>Geralt! Ye ever think it's a wee bit odd that despite only being 13% of the Redanian population, elves are responsible for 50% of the crime?
>Zoltan... shut up
Oblivion already did that sweaty.
>implemented so poorly no one even noticed
so, as anon was saying...
there's a bannerlord mod doing something like that.
whats the name?
Story generators>>>>>>shit>>>>>
>Use state of the art AI to have NPCs perform unique digetic chatter
>I SAW A MUDCRAB THE OTHER DAY...
>So.. I decided to check out the NEW ICE CREAM PLACE that just opened up downtown
ICE CREAM?
I LOVE ICE CREAM!
YES. this is the near future I am looking forward to. I dont mind that my retirement will be just playing games with advanced AI integration
eventually you'll learn shit like this doesn't matter in a game without something that matters to back it up
It would seem impossible to get them to work well enough without saying strange bizarre or ill fitting things. More than likely it'll just be used to generate safe things and instead of storing as recordings it will speak on demand
this actually is already possible in some way, trick is to also prompt the chat bot to output a formatted block to help them control how the character will react for example.
i hope to get something working in the near future, i was thinking of something silly like a façade-like game where you just talk to some dude.
>npc walks to other npc
>did you see explosion?
>i saw explosion also it was bad
>yes, it was green
>wow a big hotdog
>yes the explosion made hot
>oh no we should run
>why? are we late for something
stands idle
t. trained using reddit comments
basically this
I can understand if that modder used AI to create voice lines for unvoiced cut content, but if the modder wrote brand new lines that did not originally exist in the code, that's fanfic and you need to miss me with that gay shit.
Anon people play Mass Effect 3 in such a heavily modded format that they default make the Destroy ending the default one where everyone lives and the citadel is an epilogue complete with altered texture pointing to that the citadel needs help rebuilding.
>b-but these gays and trannies are okay with it!
Way to prove my point, idiots.
Still doesn't change the fact that it's gay shit.
>people play Mass Effect 3
a harrowing thought
I hope you don't play 2 either
i tried when it was new and couldn't finish it
I respect your consistency then
ME3 is my favorite one to play. It has the most mod support.
>MEHEM with CEM is literally the community canon ending
>noo that's all gay fanfic shit
Consolefags
If you've actually played ME you'll know 90% of the time squadmates have literally the exact same dialogue/reaction to things, just slightly differently worded
>MEHEM with CEM is literally the community canon ending
Speak for yourself, fag
>ME community
lol, might as well just say r*ddit and tumblr, same as Dragon Age
>that's fanfic and you need to miss me with that gay shit.
based
also all rpg romance-related characters are bad by default
mass effecct fan fiction is a million times better than anything EA nu bioware will shit out
all mods are fanfic
This is what I was hoping for with the tech from the beginning, now we can mod all these shitty modern "every line has to be voice acted" games without having them be horribly out of place.
Another golden age of modding is here, baby!
Won't someone please think of the voice actors! Their art it's being stolen!
AI kings we keep winning
It would be a new golden age for FNV modding if we had ever left the first one...
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/80193?tab=description
holy shit so does that mean we will have new Mr New Vegas narration?
Modded radios will finally be good
>The Atomic Wrangler crier's lines have been replaced with AI-generated ones.
Faaag.
Wasn't the turret companion's voice in Entropy: Zero 2 also done by AI?
Mass effect 3 modding comunity is suprisingly big. the mods like project variety are rather good.
It's super big, and all the big projects do their best to make their mods work together without redundancy.
It makes installation so much less of a pain in the ass.
the worst part about modding ME3 is that the majority of these mods are several gigs large.
What is the definitive or at least give it a chance overhaul mods?
I hope that all of the voiced Skyrim mods are redone with ElevenAI. So many Skyrim mods have awful voice acting. Overall it is a godsend for modders.
Fucking finally. This will be great for a number of games. I just hope the chud mod community won't have a meltdown and try to ban AI mods.
>I just hope the chud mod community won't have a meltdown and try to ban AI mods.

will AI finally give us a good mass effect ending?

You know you're to disregard a mod if it uses FemShep in the screenshots
Alright lads, what voice actor(s) do you want to see put into AI? Keep in mind it can make jap ones speak pretty good English. Fuck, forget that, what celebrities? Like, pretend you're making a custom companion. Who do you want most to voice them?
new vegas but alex jones is literally doing all the voices, he talks high pitched when he voices women and children
Tony Jay and Kath Soucie
I know it's immoral, but I want them back.
https://vocaroo.com/1oHTXTfvHOve
Can you do Fear and Loathing's Jack Kerouac voice read this?
Isn't one of the VAs of Legacy of Kain dead? I could see it used for that as long as the family is ok with it
If they could ever figure out how to mod in new sounds to the engine, total war Warhammer.
Darkest Dungeon guy
It still has some issues with a variety of accents, from what I understand.
Humphrey Bogart (would take a lot of audio cleanup as well) would be a big one, maybe Orson Welles. And prime Lauren Bacall while we're at it.
Oh fuck I need to see Orson Welles doing all the awkward Radiant dialog in Oblivion now.
Rutger Hauer
John Lithgow
John Cygan
Wes Johnson
>Rutger Hauer
I want a Roy Batty companion mod or Johnny Silverhand replacer mod for CP2077 now
Rutger typically had straightforward delivery in most of his roles, so this one seems pretty easy to do.
Hauer is Dutch, so am I. Don"t worry.
Robin Williams
I will put Hank Hill and JC Denton in every game I play and no law will stop me
nice
Todd Howard
John Dimaggio
Mark Meer
Hulk Hogan
James Earl Jones
Leslie Neilson
Alan Alda
Norio Wakamoto, so we can get a proper english version of the Wakamotorcycle
NORM MACDONALD
KILL moronS! BEHEAD moronS! ROUNDHOUSE KICK A moron INTO THE CONCRETE! etc
Imagine an entire game with a main character voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait, with a sidekick voiced by Gilbert Gottfried, and a villain voiced by Jim Varney's Ernest persona.
>english
No one lole. English already sounds bad, the western voice actor industry is complete dogshit, and you want AI?
It's only good for replacing trannies like the Sirona AI voice mod.
Isn't Nexus going to just delete all these?
I don't know if they've taken a hard stance on AI voice stuff.
They kneel to trannies and karens so I imagine they'll kneel to artists and voice actors too.
that's dubious at best because you're making voice lines for content in the game that doesn't exist for a game that's 10 years old.
why? they're not deleting LGBTQ+ flags in the game, are they?
They're using other people's voices though. Nexus will probably ban it, retarded as that is.
There are no diminishing returns in hardware and software still has room for like 9999x optimization.
Guess I'll fucking hold onto the mod file then.
It's not a bad idea to back them up but I'm pretty sure this will be such a huge thing another website would pop up if Nexus did ba nthem. Or else people will just share them on discord or rentry or whatever.
That and LoversLab already hosts tons of xvasynth generated voice acting mods. Given that they also host the banned Dark Souls armor mod I'm sure that they would be fine with hosting some other banned mods. Not that they aren't hypocrites when it comes to dicky mods of course.
Both sites will kneel to loud comlpainers, LL has banned more than just e-bois in the past.
we are simultaneously entering the golden age and dark age of modding.
>banned Dark Souls armor mod
What's this now?
Nexusmods banned it as Fromsoft didn't give specific permission for modders to use their assets. Meanwhile LoversLab has hosted it for years with no issues.
>mod page caring about developer permission
Did the nexusmods jannies miss the irony in that?
Easily. In contrast CD Projekt gave explicit permission for people to use Witcher assets in mods for other games, hence every other mod using armor from TW3 ad nauseam.
Thats so gay lol. I'm pretty sure there's Zelda stuff and other game rips on there too
Oh shit yeah now i know the mod you're talking about.
There's no rule that it breaks. It's no different to splicing the existing audio files in the game to make new dialogue lines, which plenty of old fun mods already do. Except this is doing it REALLY well to the point it sounds natural. If this is against the rules, then most NPC/world space modding is also against the rules since it re-uses the game's assets to create new things.
>skin color and flag mods deleted
these don't break rules either
Doesn't matter if chud janny wants it deleted then it'll be deleted
I'd love more voice lines for lydia and iona
Anyone got a link to that rentry page with all the voice samples?
Nm, found it :^)
>no mention of the Morrowind ones and how good they are.
trans voice actors will starve to death because of this, I'll be DEMANDING nexus to ban these atrocities.
SOMEONE REDO CHIES VOICE IN PERSONA 4 GOLDEN WITH HER ORIGINAL VA
>dub
yikes
Too bad nopony uses ElevenLabs anymore. Not like I wanted to spend $5 so I can be put on a terrorist watch list for making Trump say "Finna Dab"
>nopony
>nopony
Based ponygod with the ai guide I can't read.
waiting for the day /mlp/ is disbanded and the decade of autism is unleashed wholesale onto the site
giddy up zased ponyGOD
>nopony
I've almost said pony to people irl and it horrifies me
I'm shocked Nexus hasn't issued a ban statement on AI stuff yet. I can't imagine it'll take much longer all it's going to need is a high profile mod with a faked VA saying something triggering the right urinalist sees to write tweets about.
people have been playing with voice ai for new vegas too
Modders can pretty much create realistic npcs and voices without the need to find actual voice actors.
Some Skyrim modders are making voice packs with it, were entering a new golden age of Bethesda modding https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/86759
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/86612
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/86660
Why doesn't voice ai get >pajeet spammed like the others do?
>Why doesn't voice ai get >pajeet spammed like the others do?
Lot more drawfags than voice actors around and voice AI doesn't make them seethe since it's not a threat to their profession.
No clue but lets hope it continues to not be, voice AI is cool, fun, and has a lot of potential
Making characters say funny things is a lot more fun than an endless flood of low quality porn
>still no voiced Morrowind
Finally my Fargoth romance mod will be voice acted!
In theory this doesn't hurt anyone. Big VA's would never work with literally who modders, and small VA's will still be hired to voice original characters.
That said, it will take one retard to make a mod where popular VA spews a bunch of offensive shit for everyone to crack down hard on AI VA mods.
It's a slippery slope.
>first all mods use it
>then all games use it
So why the fuck wouldn't games use it? You'll potentially save so much costs relating to hiring VA's. In addition, you aren't restricted by a finite amount of voices and have a near infinitive resource of NPC personalities, and expressions.
its not like the gaming industry is going to vastly change because a couple of voice actors cant find work anymore.
Artists are already seething and games haven't really begun using it. They will use it, but people whose livelihoods rely on them not using it will put up a fight. And fundamentally society and many of its rules exists for the people so it's not like people will just brush them off easily.
Porn games have been releasing since back in October when nai leaked. I'm sure indie devs are using it in their current projects too.
And when 3D AI tools come out it will be panic time for zillions of craftsmen across multiple fields.
VAs do have some power though, those guys guild up and whine pretty effectively. They're already getting paid to allow companies to use their voices via AI which is more than what illustrators are going to get in most cases.
>Sure it'll be cheaper
This is the only thing you said that means anything. It will be cheaper, simple as.
Its been rumored that gpt4 will be capable of text to video. We'll have to wait and see how that might be translated to other things as well.
Oh god, no.
>Cheaper is better.
I didn't say anything about quality, that's just you trying to cope. I don't see how this argument has any weight though since we're talking about dubs
and western VA as far as I can tell. It wasn't great to begin with and even in the cases where it was(Geralt for example), AI does his voice very well.
You also buy things made in china because they just work. Really dumb point.
>we're talking about dubs and western VA
it's gonna be even eaiser for JP since they have 3 male voices and 3 female voices and no range at all.
>They make money that's all that counts.
Good point since all these aaa publishers just chase trends and virtue signal these days. Making a quality product doesn't matter as long as you deliver on sales.
Pic related it's what happens to an indie game series that goes AAA
>If only you knew how bad things really are
It does matter, otherwise Forspoken would and Saints Row reboot wouldn't have flopped.
There's a line between "awful garbage nobody wants" and "it's bad but we made money anyway"
There's no difference between them besides the one that made money requires false promises and a decent reputation to ruin.
Explain how EA still exists when they release garbage every year
Countless pakis and chavs slurping up FIFA and an equally countless number of dumb hicks slurping up Madden
Maybe you should look at how many studios and franchises EA has bought out and burned to the ground for a quick buck.
I like the guy in the middle, reconsidering his entire life.
Telling a person what to do and what you want is alot easier than trying to get lucky with the machine until you happen to get what you want.
If it's cheaper(it is) then people will use it over the more expensive option.
Sure it'll be cheaper but it will be more time consuming having to fiddle through all the options until you finally get what you want instead of just having the voice actor do it right from the get go. It'll also cheapen the product all together so big companies wouldn't be as inclined to use it. This would only be good for modding lines in games that already have decent voice actors to begin with.
>Sure it'll be cheaper
That's the only thing that big companies care about.
>cheapen the product all together
70% of your favorite AAA game was made in china, india, and other 3rd world shitholes. Sure they could've hired professionals from 1st world, but why bother when you can pay cents to get somewhat working code and fix it with patches later?
It will be the same with voice acting too. You could pay 20k and hire a VA or pay 1k for software and 2k for voice loicence and pocket the rest for CEOs bonus pay.
>70% of your favorite AAA game was made in china, india, and other 3rd world shitholes.
Nice percentage you pulled out of your ass third worldy. Look at any game that outsourced its work overseas, they end up flopping from lack of quality. Best example is Aliens Colonial Marines.
Who do you think makes majority of assets for big games? Only important bits of the game are made in house, rest is outsourced to buttfuck nowhere.
>Best example is Aliens Colonial Marines.
Literally every Ubisoft game is outsourced, hence why they have like 1000 people in credits. All GaaS patches are outsourced too, it's cheaper and faster to overwork 3rd worlders for shit like gun models and textures, while your team makes the rest.
>Ubisoft games
>GaaS
And they're all shiiiit
>Ubishit.
>Known for downgrading their games everytime.
Great example.
Yeah it sold well but at the cost of their reputation. The same way Cyberpunk 2077 sold millions but at the cost of CDPRs reputation which made all of the talent of the company leave from how badly the game turned out.
>reputation
Is a meme. It doesn't exist once you're big enough or don't have competition. Madden sells billions while being total shit.
Next GTA will sell more copies than there are humans on earth despite this funny little fuckup with trilogy.
Skyrim in space gonna be a hit despite literally every game released by bethesda in past 30 years been a buggy mess. And you can bet your pretty pink panties that they certainly exploring chatGPT implementation since M$ owns that bitch now.
CP77 sold a fuckton and all sins are forgiven now because annie mey made me cri.
The only one I agree on is Madden just because of the sportsfans buying every Madden and Fifa game and milking all the tards with the trading cards but the other two could go sour. If GTA 6 ends up being a worse GTA 4/5 then you can bet your ass it will hurt the sales and the company as a whole. And also Bethesda is already on thin ice from revealing the Starfield trailer showing how lackluster it was and especially after the whole Fallout 76 fiasco.
Here's another example of lazy outsourced Pajeet work with the GTA Trilogy remakes.
It was upscaled by AI. Which is even faster and cheaper than outsource. And sold like hotcakes despite all the "outrage" because normies don't care.
They make money that's all that counts.
where do you think the voice work the AI's use comes from, genius
Not him but you can synthesize voices from nothing using AI, and you can turn anyone's voice into a voice actor using AI. The idea is that you don't need to hire someone talented, the AI will be able to do any voice however you want it.
Eventually it will be like an audition. You'll fire up VoiceActor.exe and type in your prompt, "angry gruff man, fantasy setting, american accent" then the AI will generate 9,999 ators for you and you'll sift through them until you get what you want. Very much like real life except cheaper and your direction will change the voice more. IE:
>I liked #454 and #46766 can you merge them?
>"yes master"
Games will absolutely use it. There is 0 doubt about it. VA is one of the more annoying parts of the game development and it requires you to lock your story months in advance so you won't have to schedule more sessions for new lines later.
If companies can just hire like 5 dudes who know how to works AI's make whole process so much faster.
Quality is still not on par with the real thing, and there is probably legal issues too. But i would absolutely expect first AI voiced background NPC coming to games very soon. Technically High On Life already did it, but it was really minor inclusion I think.
I'm fine with that, anybody tries using it for actual games or anything they want people to pay for they can fuck right off
It's great tech for mods.
There's a ton of character swap mods for any game that could benefit from this to give that extra feel of realism.
How long before nexus takes them down due to twitter politics over ai?
If it survives to the end of next month then it'll never be banned
I'll replay Mass Effect 1-3 again when they make Garrus a gay romance option with proper male voice lines.
The future is technology like ElevenLabs paired to technology like ChatGPT, generating fully voiced and natural dialogue on the fly in response to player input and player created content. This will happen in the next 15 years. In the next 50 years, I believe we'll see bespoke entertainment, whole novels and films generated for you to your own specifications.
You sound just as retarded as the dumbfucks who believed that we would have flying cars by now 20 years ago.
No.
>KotOR2 has a bunch of unvoiced lines left in its mountain of cut content
>one of them includes Carth's son from the first game showing up as a crazed Jedi in one of Korriban's tombs
>in the first game, he was voiced by the same VA as Rosh from Jedi Academy and all the tavern bards in Skyrim
I reckon there's plenty of material to attempt a proper restoration
My beautiful biotic goddess mom wife. She deserved to be on the team
