Don't get why this mode was so hated, do the people who hate it even play the game? or are they just hating because
    >muh nintendo!!!

Because it's an incredibly fricking boring mode where you just play a turret section for 75% of it and only really get to fight something at the very end

        But enough about Jhen mohran

Yes, other encounters can also be shit, that doesn't make Rampage any better

Anon, there literally is a hate campaign against anything nintendo on Ganker, wouldn't be surprised if it was paid for too.

I don't really know. In my experience Rampages were super easy.

You can't die. Or lose. Just make them harder. And longer than 3 stages maybe.

I'm not sure myself, I feel like capcom could have given it some more love and made it more interesting but they opted for the lazy route and just removed it. Story wise it makes sense too sure but it's lame as frick.

They felt trivial, which I guess is barely a complaint because every siege fight in every previous monster hunter also was
I think the real issue was in presentation, the UI combined with swarming the player with monsters they previously fought one at a time quickly made people disassociate, it felt overtly 'gamey' while not actually having enough substance to be a game
Much like Dango though it's an extremely minor part of the game autists blow out of proportion

fix what? I had no issues with it. and after you do it about two times for story you dont ever have to play through rampage again if you dont wish.

probably just have less of them, they're fine the first time

You are required to do them the same amount of times as zorah magdaros

Kinda. In the base game, you have to do at least one rampage for each Apex in order to unlock them in regular quest.
Also there is a guild card award for 50 of them done, if you're doing 100%.

Remove all player-controlled installations but keep dragonators/split wyvernshot. Wyvern artillery cam stay, too
Make the auto installations specialized to target different monster types
The final monster should have to fight through the installations instead of destroying everything
The furnace can only recharge dragonator/splitting wyvernshot once per wave

Honestly just make everything more automated
Just make it like a normal hunt except with tower defense elements

The problem is that they didn't believe enough in them.
A tower defense mode mixed with a final boss is potentially an excellent idea to make MH siege battles more engaging, but they were clearly so afraid of alienating the average player that they made them incredibly easy and shallow, while also adopting some pretty dumb design choices (for example, your performance in 1st and 2nd phase is essentially irrelevant, since the Apex with always destroy the gate immediately and proceed to the final area).

They should have made them much harder and with more complex mechanics (a proper tower defense mode), with the Apex final phase turned into a regular 10-15 mins fight, with the occasional big hit to request from one of the NPCs.

In the state they were implented, they are just... nothing.
You can learn everything you have to learn about them in 2-3 quests, and after that you'll just repeat the exact same moves every single time, with ZERO chances of losing. There is no challenge, but at the same time you can't even rush them, because you have to go through all the set up time and different phases. Depending on the team, they were 20-30 mins of pure boredom.

Agreed. There's only one quest that's challenging and it's the event rajang rampage one. Actually failed it twice before my buddy and I got out shit together.

Rampages would be completely intolerable if they were actually hard. They suck to play solo with how much you're forced to juggle alone and the idea of needing to rely on 3 other players to pull their weight and utilize installations properly when there's an actual threat of failure would only sour the whole experience.

Being easy means that at worst the mode is just boring rather than boring AND a frustrating wall.

my solution wouldn't be possible because the game has to run on switch

Reduce the monsters to like 3 or 4 per wave, but make them last longer and be an actual threat.
Fending off dozens of braindead monsters with a few shots each just makes them feel like insane pushovers.

    >no elder dragons
    >no frenzy/hyper/tempered equivalent
    >no advanced quests
    >unfinished weapon trees
    >rampage considered the endgame

Holy moly, I just remembered how shitty Rise was on day one.
First MH game that genuinely disappointed me at launch.

What? Rise had 2 elder dragons at launch, and when was "elder dragon count" EVER a measurement of game quality?

All turrets are automated. You get full melee damage all the time. More emphasis on crowd control via traps. I don't dislike the concept, i hate being forced to shoot stationary turrets in a game about melee combat.

Make them less time consuming. There's basically nothing you can do to make them go faster and every one takes a minimum of 20 minutes to complete.

    >Less monsters per wave, make them have more health instead
    >Make Ice and Desert monsters able to appear in Rampages to add more diversity
    >remove counter signal
    >remove the minimap to trim down the UI

Rest is alright, I enjoyed Rampages and had no trouble getting the 50-Rampage-achievement. Could have been utilized better in the story though
