Yeah, I'm pretty excited. My internet is absolute dogshit, so I've been waiting all day to do my first actual playthrough. I've tried doing it before, but I usually end up fucking my mods somehow and can't progress as I want to.

Looks great for how much I explored it. Released parts are pretty much like another expansion there are quests and other things to do. Unreleased landmass is just not there so it feels weird when you approach that sudden cutoff. Redoran part is missing and most of the south Morrowind. Still it's great. The other two projects Skyrim and Cyrodil are less developed. They all base on lore up to tes3, which for me is a plus
I was actually thinking about installing TR, but my Morrowind games has about 500+ in it, so I can't be bothered to release them all. The game is already running on ducttape and prayers to ALMSILVI.
I am not really sold on the Skyrim and Cyrodill expansions. Apparently, they use assets from Skyrim and Oblivion and oh boy, it shows.

No, not yet at least.
If you want some quest focused shit for morrowind you better check out standalone quest mods.
So many broken items way easier to get in this game and they actually make the one item that would make sense to be really op a total generic crap that is worse than some rewards you get from the imperial cult quests
I’ve only played a handful of quests in TR but so far they’ve been of fantastic quality. I’d say easily surpassing vanilla, though I’ve only quested around Old Ebonheart and Firewatch.
Yes, a lot of those assets are jarring to look at when placed next to vanilla Items. I really hope we one day get an asset overhaul to bring a unified look to the stuff rebuilt adds.
It's overflowing with SOUL. It's like a big expansion that just adds more of the world, cities, quests, people and all. I've spent hours and hours just in Old Ebonheart. Escorted some schizo to the asylum and "inherited" her house, am decorating it with shit and displaying loot that's too expensive for merchants to buy. Crashed a party, made front page news, accidentally broke into a CIA black site, and I've hardly left the city yet.

Guars actually used to scare the shit out of me back when I was a kid. It's the way their mouth phases through you when they attack that makes it unsettling.

Way back when I thought mods were the coolest thing, I had a mod in morrowind that let you sail. It worked pretty damn well, too, it was surprising.
You could use little sail boats to go along the canals of vivec. You could sail larger boats, same size as the one you start the game on, maybe a little wider. I took that one up to Solstheim and gathered furs from the locals to sell back in the mainland.
I miss those very sweet years.
I've never tried a combat mod. Some looked pretty sweet, but by the time they began getting complex I started growing away from modding. It started taking so much time, and having to run bash scripts to fix my own mods and alterations I'd make became so much effort that I'd be debugging and only logging in to make sure things didnt crash because I planned to play later in the week.
I know I'll never love computer games like that again. It was such a good run though.
I have a question. Would TES still be an enjoyable setting if every race got the dunmer treatment
Would people still take the setting seriously if everyone was super powerful and unique?
I would certainly enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim more if the weird PGE stuff was kept in, but it would probably affect the mass appeal and there's limits to how much you can fully realize in the game.
Some of the PGE 1st edition was retarded though. How would Cyrodil be the most populous province and field the largest armies while being covered in jungles?
Colovia is not jungle. Nibenay is extremely productive rice agriculture around rivers of which there are many. It's also the largest province. Most other provinces are inhosptibable (Hammerfell, Skyrim) or full of elves (cannot breed).
What is southeast Asia. Around rivers jungle is cleared for rice paddies. As terrain gets rougher away from rivers it's still jungle. Not complicated.
Anonymous
Southeast asia thought has always been militarily inferior to its neighbors, again making the idea of them being a jungle covered military powerhouse a joke.
For example in the Song invasion of Vietnam the local lords were only able to field at most 80k men while the Song had 800k men.
It's only with increased deforestation and agricultural output that Southeeast Asia managed to close the population gap
4 weeks ago
Anonymous
The military powerhouse part of Cyrodiil is Colovia, which was never a jungle, even in the PGE 1. The Imperial City and the Nibenay are inhabited by weird religious merchant-wizard-bureaucrats, not militaristic Colovians, who are the ones behind the Legions.
Anonymous
And yet Nibenay is the heartland and has several times fought Colovia to a stalemate or conquered it outright, if Colovia was more populous it would be more influential than Nibenay, but Nibenay seems to hold most of the power, and Colovia is described as a frontier
4 weeks ago
Anonymous
That's not really true. The only time the Nibenay ever ruled over Colovia was during the Alessian Empire, and that's mostly just because It whole from the start, the only conquest involved was that of the Ayleids. Even during the Alessian Empire, Colovia eventually (mostly) suceeded in breaking free from the Nibenay and their religious autism.
The next two major Cyrodiilic empires + the Mede Dynasty all originated in the Colovian west, and the Imperial City became less of a military powerhouse by itself and more just the place where Colovian conquerors settled on after getting the rest of the Nibenay to surrender.
Anonymous
Based Colovians being the real niggas of the heartland. The Nibegay always did rely too much on divine intervention to get shit done. Its a shame the games never reflect that same with their close ties to the madlads of Falkreath.
>Nibenay is extremely productive rice agriculture around rivers of which there are many
IIRC according to the first pocket guide to the Empire, Nibenay doesn't even do much agriculture and husbandry because of a myriad of religious diet restrictions, which led to a lot of Nibenese becoming merchants to trade for goods they couldn't produce. It sounds dumb as fuck but I don't think they're too productive of a region.
Every race other than the Orcs is already super powerful and unique in some way or another. That's not what the "Dunmer treatment".
If by that you mean an actually developed culture, good worldbuilding andunique aesthetics then yeah of course every race should have gotten the Dunmer treatment, fucking Morrowind introduced more Nordic religious texts and the like than Skyrim did and Oblivion Imperials were entirely devoid of any culture whatsoever aside from the israelitebride books.
I BEAT DAGOTH UR YESTERDAY IN 3 HITS. GREAT GAME, LOT OF FUN. SOME CRITIQUES, BUT I WILL KEEP THEM INSIDE FOR NOW. THANK YOU FOR THE THREAD AND THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST.
I got filtered by modded Samarys Tomb and two skeleton gigachads at the end. I get that the idea was to make you work for that Ring of the Mentor, but Jesus. Thank fuck for the Absorb Health spam that saved my life.
Now that OpenMW can boot Oblivion/Skyrim map files, is there anything that takes advantage of it?
Between SkyrimVR and OpenMW-VR i find OpenMW-VR better, but it needs some combat/dialogue adjustements though
I recently completed Enderal in VR, now going back to the good ol Morrowind. Feels amazing, nothing beats this soundtrack.
Any MorroVR mods you would recommend?
Been meaning to start a Morrowind run once I'm finished with Skyrim.
Last time I got filtered by the slow walk speed. How do you n'wahs deal with that?
Yes morrowind !I have started my first morrowind playthrough. I'm using openmw with :
-Patch for Purist
-UMOPP
-Morrowind Optimization patch
-Project Atlas
-Graphic Herbalism
-Dynamic Distant Detail
-Glow in the dark
It's my first time playing it properly so I wanted to keep it as vanilla as possible. Hesitating on Inteligent Textures or Enhenced Textures but so far the game looks decent enough to not use either.
I'm playing a shortblade thief with some illusion and conjuration magic. level 12 and barely touched the mainquest - joined hlaalu, thief guild and plan on joining morag tong once I get to Vivec. Mostly just exploring and talking to people. The lore is nuts, the world really interesting and you can just feel how everything was handcrafted and oozing with soul. Every place I go to is full of little details or interesting stuff, honestly I'm already even more excited for a second playthrough with more mods and tamriel rebuilt, though i'll take my time with this one and make sure to finish base game and explore everything.
I grew up with Oblivion (30yo just happened to get into pc gaming in my late teens) but this game already feels infinitely better.
Last one. I know I shouldn't be spamming the thread so hard, but I've spent half a week modding the shit of out this game, I might as well share my joy with someone.
Yeah I found that early on and it's carried me through the entire game.
This thing does way too much fucking damage. Though I guess a mithril blade with lots of enchants might outdo it. I forget how the damage formula works anyway, at 51 short blade I seem to be murderizing everything with this
So, a lore question - why should my Tribunal-worshipping, anti-Imperial Dunmer give a flying fuck about anything that's going on on Solstheim?
At least the Tribunal had a decent hook that involved you personally, Bloodmoon... doesn't.
Perhaps you could try and act as a missionary to the Skaal? The temples don't have any official views or stories about Hircine really, so once he gets involved perhaps you could consider it an undertaking of discovery on behalf of the Temple.
That and there's a major questline where you have the option to fuck with the Imperials by undermining their ebony-mining colony on the island and make it fail from the inside.
As much as Morrowind is one of my favorite fucking games ever made I do have to agree that Bloodmoon has almost no stated lore reasons for why your average Nerevarine would be tied to it. Still a fun add-on.
Spear
Heavy Armor
Enchant (exclusive means of using magic)
Imperial-born Dunmer trying to get back in touch with their ancestry
Small keep in the mountains above Balmora as player house, mix of imperial fort and rich common sets
This thing does way too much fucking damage. Though I guess a mithril blade with lots of enchants might outdo it. I forget how the damage formula works anyway, at 51 short blade I seem to be murderizing everything with this
Damage formula is 50% listed damage plus 1% for every point of Strength >100% listed damage at 50 strength >150% damage at 100 strength >50% damage at 0 strength
Then you get a damage penalty based on your weapon's condition ratio.
Also yeah that's just got a fuckload of base damage. The strongest non-modded base damage short blade is the Goblin Sword from Tribunal with 10-35.
it's a modded console, load times are basically nonexistent
I'm considering PC but then I'd want to mod it to at least run well whereas console would be sovlful
i am so appreciative of all the effor the fan community has put into this game and have enjoyed seeing it evolve from the xbox version this console peasant experienced.. but i 'm really talking about something official and retail for even the console peasants
Was there anything in Skyrim or ESO though that retconned Oblivion?
It seems Oblivion pretty much solidified Elder Scrolls as a setting after a major divergence from Daggerfall to Morrowind and a slight correction back with Oblivion

Ah, wonder I recognize them but can't find them in the wiki as creatures.
some girl went to jail for saying stuff like that; instead you should just be nice about morrowind and people who want to play it more and have other people play it too who missed it originally and aren't adept with pcs and mods <.<
with this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created v.v
that's why i'd like a remaster not a remake.. sort of like rdr remaster which had no tomfoolery and not like gta remakes which were ruined? idk if i am making sense but i agree with you i don't want any tampering just like maybe draw distance and 1080p stuff XD
or is 1080p too old now too lol idk
Is Morrowind a good game to try out for a zoomer who doesn't enjoy any of the Bethesda games? I'm wanting to try their older games a shot, but I'm unsure if I'll enjoy it considering I don't like Fallout 3 and Skyrim. I have not tried Oblivion.
It's primarily because of the jank, engine, and how sterile the newer games felt when it came to roleplay. I can probably tolerate the jank more because it's an older game and I have familiarity with 90s and 2000s PC games. I remember someone saying there's no waypoint/quest marker system and it piqued my interest since I want to feel immersed and it'll actually make me use my head. BG3 made me want to try out RPGs again and I plan on trying Fallout 1 again.
You'll probably hate it. Most zoomers do.
That sucks especially when I hear people say all the elder scrolls afterwards are downgrades. What about Oblivion? Is that worth a shot?
I recently build my first desktop at 28 years of age after spending my entire life on consoles. I've always wanted to mod Morrowind, but i keep fucking up, because i dont know what im doing.
seems weird to me that not a single indie dev has ever tried to make a game like morrowind. Big open world to explore, rpg, lots of lore, quest, early 2000s graphic style and no voice acting.
There's a lot of people doing something similar FOR FREE with tamriel rebuilt. I do not see why a small group of devs couldn't do a game like morrowind in 2023. Specially considering that the low-poly thing takes way less time, and it's easier to do.
>I do not see why a small group of devs couldn't do a game like morrowind in 2023.
It's mainly an engine thing, think about it - the complexity of morrowind to skyrim on a non-creatin kit engine. The only we've got so far is Nehrim, Enderal and that other mod for morrowind in the same universe.
you want to hear something ultra mundane? I like these kinds of indoor gardens they bring me peace even the little cactus exhibit in postal2 post office
>install this mod when doing mage's guild because vanilla mannimarco fight sucks >playing Vordt theme in the background because i've hyped myself up in roleplay for this to be "the big fight" between two powerful necros >i have fearsome magicka installed >second phase music hits when, mannimarco somehow fucking stops time with a script effect spell
I really need to get back to this. After years of being a poser and claiming Morrowind was the best TES game (having only played Skyrim), I gave it another go around April and was blown away by it.
waiting for Path of the Incarnate modlist to be updated before jumping in again
the wait is killing me but I've wasted weeks of my life modding games myself already
lolno
The only advantage that arrows have over destruction magic is that physical damage can't be reflected, but reflect spells aren't an issue you'll encounter often even as a pure mage. Be careful though, because the enchantment on the bow or arrows can be reflected

At high stealth + marksman + agility + luck + a dwemer crossbow it's pretty comfy to play, but it never comes close to Skyrim bullshit and is probably still weaker than every other combat choice except hand to hand. Also one of the big downsides in Morrowind is how painfully slow you move while sneaking, which makes sneak-combat builds generally less pleasant.
Most if not all vanilla mods work fine for it. It's when you get into MWSE stuff that it stops working. And for some people, that right there's a deal breaker since MWSE is now incredible.
Yeah there's some great stuff for it. I might compile a list later on of the mods for it that I found really good. Visibly Trapped Objects if nothing else is a lot of fun.
it's pretty fucking crazy, you can just make the game do whatever you want with babby tier roblox scripting language
People have implemented weather systems and shit, moving objects arbitrarily, basically anything
>is that a.. town? with half a dozen occupants? who all have the same voices? whoa.. so this is the power of open world rpgs.. whoa >*gets killed by a bandit with endgame glass armor*
I was going through the construction set recently and I noticed there's a place called "Telvanni Monster Lab" in Vivec, Telvanni Canton
It's a Velothi tomb but has Dwemer automatons, an alchemy lab and a smithy

What char are you running?
I have a Nightblade Dunmer with an identity crisis whether to join the Tribunal Temple, Morag Tong or House Telvanni. I will probably go Morag Tong/Tribunal, but this means I have nothing to do in Balmora so far.
I really wanted to play hand to hand character, added some restoration and alteration for non combat use
There's a Morag Tong guild hall in Sadrith Mora so those choices aren't mutually exclusive from a roleplaying perspective
I was more concerned about lore conflict between the Temple and Morag Tong, but then I wrote a book that says that Mephala is a reverse aspect of Vivec, so whatever.
>then I wrote a book
Whoa, anon, I love morrowind too, but let's not get crazy.
Mephala is part of the good daedra
I still think that Almalexia and Sotha Sil got shafted in Morrowind.
Almalexia is a bitchy bimbo but Sotha Sil got done dirty.
Are you me? Also playing a sort of Nightblade Dumner, and also having an identity crisis because I wanted to roleplay returning to my homeland and trying to reconciliate with my roots whilst rejecting the empire - except by misclick I accidentally joined House Haalu and rolled with it so I guess now I'm pro-empire? Dunno if I should join the temple or imperial cult.
Join the Temple and then download the MQ Overhaul mod that skips the Caius Cosades missions, so that you won't stoop to working with filthy n'wah.
The Camonna Tong is Hlaalu too so you can just roleplay that

Too bad, but I guess the project's already big enough.
As far as I'm aware they don't plan making main quest
Moon-and-star being so weak is weird. Every other piece of main quest equipment is kickass.
Seriously, the Ring of the Mentor is actually more powerful than this shit.
So many broken items way easier to get in this game and they actually make the one item that would make sense to be really op a total generic crap that is worse than some rewards you get from the imperial cult quests
was this a typo? was it actually supposed to be like +25/+25 or something?
I’ve only played a handful of quests in TR but so far they’ve been of fantastic quality. I’d say easily surpassing vanilla, though I’ve only quested around Old Ebonheart and Firewatch.
It's pretty neat
It's ok, it feels like a ton of different DLC stitched together, not really a fully expanded world, and for that reason it's shit to me
Yes, a lot of those assets are jarring to look at when placed next to vanilla Items. I really hope we one day get an asset overhaul to bring a unified look to the stuff rebuilt adds.

Hermaeus Mora
I keep confusing these two, what's the fucking difference between them?

It started taking so much time, and having to run bash scripts to fix my own mods and alterations I'd make became so much effort that I'd be debugging and only logging in to make sure things didnt crash because I planned to play later in the week.
I know I'll never love computer games like that again. It was such a good run though.
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42270
You mean this one? It's actually a pretty fun mod.
funny but very dishonest
I have a question. Would TES still be an enjoyable setting if every race got the dunmer treatment
Would people still take the setting seriously if everyone was super powerful and unique?
I wish every race got the Dunmer treatment. It would mean they actually have a culture outside of stereotypes.
There are no large rice agriculture in jungles though, you can have one or the other, not both
What is southeast Asia. Around rivers jungle is cleared for rice paddies. As terrain gets rougher away from rivers it's still jungle. Not complicated.
The military powerhouse part of Cyrodiil is Colovia, which was never a jungle, even in the PGE 1. The Imperial City and the Nibenay are inhabited by weird religious merchant-wizard-bureaucrats, not militaristic Colovians, who are the ones behind the Legions.
And yet Nibenay is the heartland and has several times fought Colovia to a stalemate or conquered it outright, if Colovia was more populous it would be more influential than Nibenay, but Nibenay seems to hold most of the power, and Colovia is described as a frontier
If by that you mean an actually developed culture, good worldbuilding andunique aesthetics then yeah of course every race should have gotten the Dunmer treatment, fucking Morrowind introduced more Nordic religious texts and the like than Skyrim did and Oblivion Imperials were entirely devoid of any culture whatsoever aside from the israelitebride books.
this feel anon brooos ...
whhyyy just whyyy
In my headcanon, all of the TES protagonists are just thd same dude, that keeps finding himself in the most ridiculous of circumstances at all times.
Anons did you get filtered by the dwemer puzzle box?
First time I played it, yes. I honestly thought my game was bugged, but no, that was just Bethesda's "fuck you" design.
I did, but I was in highschool when Morrowind was new and the kids were talking about it at school the next day
I BEAT DAGOTH UR YESTERDAY IN 3 HITS.
>I got filtered by modded Samarys Tomb and two skeleton gigachads at the end
yet another gets BONED
Hey, I did defeat them on level 1. It just took the whole cheese factory to do that.
I DID NOT INSTALL ANY MODS.
Come moon and star
Why
Because
Now that OpenMW can boot Oblivion/Skyrim map files, is there anything that takes advantage of it?
Between SkyrimVR and OpenMW-VR i find OpenMW-VR better, but it needs some combat/dialogue adjustements though
I could never get into OpenMW VR. I am spoiled by VR specific features of Skyrim VR like holsters and weapon throwing.
Nevermind, thanks to
anon found out about "Audiobooks of Morrowind" and "Read Aloud" mods, really cool shit that solves the problem of reading in VR
Boots of blinding speed.
Jump everywhere like a kangaroo
Athletics
Athletics as major is absolutely fast enough if you aren't ADHD
teleport everywhere
not every town has tribunal temple and not every town has temple of the divines
Far cry 2?
I can literally list every problem that tes6 will have.
Uber Crystal Egg Hunt
This thread is still up. Amazing.
I am back from work, so now I can share some screenies. Rate my Morrowind.
Nice clouds
I dig, looks nice
yeah this make 2008 second life look like a masterpiece
on the way to your location, going to kill you with a hammer
What a homosexual you are
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48636
Watch the skies mod + weather adjuster.
I guess I am really bad at making cool shots.
I guess I've shared this screenshot at some point, but I really like the way the Temple looks.
ALMSIVI bless modders for making all the concept art stuff to the game
Yes, indeed.
Last one. I know I shouldn't be spamming the thread so hard, but I've spent half a week modding the shit of out this game, I might as well share my joy with someone.
da fuk
Eh, close enough.
She looks like she fucks human men.
All the new quest mods that came out are pretty cool
Also have some neat moments.
I got bunch of quest mods but the Pillow Manor is the only one i player through so far
yeah but what's its name again?
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/53679
Doing the space pirate one next.
Thanks.
The Dragon's Blade/Katariah's Tomb are in Tamriel Rebuilt if that's what you mean.
Also they're vastly improving the models on the end artifacts so that's neat.
Hey Trainwiz I have three characters a legion soldier, telvanni wizard, and morag tong assassin. Which is best for which of the new quest mods?
So far the only one I played is the jigglebags one, and it's Thieves Guild oriented.
Also new mod from me, bout time I released this publicly.
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/53723/
I will now steal his sword
I thought a mod like that had already been released years ago.
I made it ages ago but never released it publicly.
ALMSIVI bless MWSE
It's intensely amazing.
Keyboard letters don't work even after setting the value to 1. Running on WINE btw. Any tips?
Have you tried OpenMW? You wont need wine for that
Couldn't get it to work. Just kept asking me to dl shit that didn't do shit.
All of the recent mods for morrowind modding madness look pretty good. Anyone tried any of the latest mods released?
I did the Jyggalag one, it was good.
?si=G7nX2N_tH0XlCx_s
Eh, Solstheim looks pretty Khuul.
I'll be here all week.
So, a lore question - why should my Tribunal-worshipping, anti-Imperial Dunmer give a flying fuck about anything that's going on on Solstheim?
At least the Tribunal had a decent hook that involved you personally, Bloodmoon... doesn't.
You'd have to roleplay as a missionary or something
Solstheim is rightful Dumner clay, you're there to kill nords
Follow your ancestral Chimeri heritage by killing N*rds
Funny, I just reinstalled. I'm trying out that Diverse Khajiit mod and rolled up an Ohmes.
been playin recently its still good
Spear
I forget how the damage formula works anyway, at 51 short blade I seem to be murderizing everything with this
doesnt look like any o those enchants do anything though
Yeah, just the raw stats are high. at least i think?
are there no other dragons blades you can enchant?
It's an artifact you find in Katariah's tomb.
Yeah I found that early on and it's carried me through the entire game.
Damage formula is 50% listed damage plus 1% for every point of Strength
>100% listed damage at 50 strength
>150% damage at 100 strength
>50% damage at 0 strength
Then you get a damage penalty based on your weapon's condition ratio.
Also yeah that's just got a fuckload of base damage. The strongest non-modded base damage short blade is the Goblin Sword from Tribunal with 10-35.
I only ever played Skyrim and a little bit of Oblivion
I bought an original Xbox and it came with Morrowind, should I play it?
Console Morrowind's loading times are on the order of minutes, iirc. Much better to play on PC.
it's a modded console, load times are basically nonexistent
I'm considering PC but then I'd want to mod it to at least run well whereas console would be sovlful
why can't bethesda bottom feeders just remaster this game already
A team is trying to, it's called Skywind
i am so appreciative of all the effor the fan community has put into this game and have enjoyed seeing it evolve from the xbox version this console peasant experienced.. but i 'm really talking about something official and retail for even the console peasants
The effort Bethesda made to disassociate from Morrowind by literally destroying the entire island tells me they don't really like it.
Kirkbride was the one pushing for that. Most everyone there likes Morrowind to some extent, since it saved the company.
You'd have a better argument for Oblivion since nobody seems to really acknowledge it and it's by far the least popular of the modern three TES games.
Was there anything in Skyrim or ESO though that retconned Oblivion?
It seems Oblivion pretty much solidified Elder Scrolls as a setting after a major divergence from Daggerfall to Morrowind and a slight correction back with Oblivion
No, but it largely gets acknowledged while there's a TON of content based around nostalgia milking Morrowind.
Largely gets unacknowledged*
Sorry, got five people and a cat vying for my attention right now.
Point is Morrowind wasn't blown up out of any sense of antipathy for the setting.
>knowing five people
la-de-fucking da mr popular
I don't remember mecha's in morrowind unless it's a tribunal thing
Those were actually in vanilla, just wrecked.
>Those were actually in vanilla, just wrecked.
Ah, wonder I recognize them but can't find them in the wiki as creatures.
>official
have a nice day
some girl went to jail for saying stuff like that; instead you should just be nice about morrowind and people who want to play it more and have other people play it too who missed it originally and aren't adept with pcs and mods <.<
kys immediately
with this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created v.v
its already perfect. they'll just ruin it.
that's why i'd like a remaster not a remake.. sort of like rdr remaster which had no tomfoolery and not like gta remakes which were ruined? idk if i am making sense but i agree with you i don't want any tampering just like maybe draw distance and 1080p stuff XD
or is 1080p too old now too lol idk
Is Morrowind a good game to try out for a zoomer who doesn't enjoy any of the Bethesda games? I'm wanting to try their older games a shot, but I'm unsure if I'll enjoy it considering I don't like Fallout 3 and Skyrim. I have not tried Oblivion.
Depends on why you don't like Bethesda games. If it's because of mechanical jank then no, Morrowind is the jankiest of them all.
That sucks especially when I hear people say all the elder scrolls afterwards are downgrades. What about Oblivion? Is that worth a shot?
Oblivion first, then Morrowind.
You'll probably hate it. Most zoomers do.
Because it takes a fuckload of work.
>There's a lot of people doing something similar FOR FREE with tamriel rebuilt
Right, and it's taken over twenty years.
>it's taken over twenty years
Not strange coming from an unorganized group of people who only work on the mod in their free time
Ardenfall might be the only thing that can call itself a worthy game akin to morrowind.
you want to hear something ultra mundane?
I like these kinds of indoor gardens they bring me peace even the little cactus exhibit in postal2 post office
I like the one in the Argonian Mission
What was their secret hist plan
hello
Hi
>install this mod when doing mage's guild because vanilla mannimarco fight sucks
>playing Vordt theme in the background because i've hyped myself up in roleplay for this to be "the big fight" between two powerful necros
>i have fearsome magicka installed
>second phase music hits when, mannimarco somehow fucking stops time with a script effect spell
Sounds extremely kino, had a music mod going myself replaced everything with Legacy of Kain's ost, think Ozar was playing when I fought him
I didn't mod the music really, I just durned down ingame music and played some intense shit from a file during any important "boss fights".
Sounds like a better solution took me ages to get the custom music to work properly
I really need to get back to this. After years of being a poser and claiming Morrowind was the best TES game (having only played Skyrim), I gave it another go around April and was blown away by it.
>Claims Morrowind is the best without playing it
That is more embarrassing than just saying you don't have an opinion fyi
I had google stylize an image I took and it reminds me of Morrowind
What are the implications of this
Many
waiting for Path of the Incarnate modlist to be updated before jumping in again
the wait is killing me but I've wasted weeks of my life modding games myself already
i love this game, but does pure stealth archer ever become fun like in skyrim/oblivion?
lolno
The only advantage that arrows have over destruction magic is that physical damage can't be reflected, but reflect spells aren't an issue you'll encounter often even as a pure mage. Be careful though, because the enchantment on the bow or arrows can be reflected
Sorry one other advantage is that thrown weapons count as double damage instead of what's stated raw. 50 damage on a dart is 100 damage to the target
Don't thrown weapons also include a strength multiplier? IIRC if you exploit boost strength basic darts will one shot everything.
Yeah pretty much. Best to use the dwemer darts from Tribunal for that.
At high stealth + marksman + agility + luck + a dwemer crossbow it's pretty comfy to play, but it never comes close to Skyrim bullshit and is probably still weaker than every other combat choice except hand to hand. Also one of the big downsides in Morrowind is how painfully slow you move while sneaking, which makes sneak-combat builds generally less pleasant.
how well do mods work for openMW? I want to play it in VR soon
Most if not all vanilla mods work fine for it. It's when you get into MWSE stuff that it stops working. And for some people, that right there's a deal breaker since MWSE is now incredible.
gonna look up mwse now. ty anon
Yeah there's some great stuff for it. I might compile a list later on of the mods for it that I found really good. Visibly Trapped Objects if nothing else is a lot of fun.
What is your take on BCOM as vanilla+ oriented walk-through?
Looks good, I'd be worried about incompability though.
it's pretty fucking crazy, you can just make the game do whatever you want with babby tier roblox scripting language
People have implemented weather systems and shit, moving objects arbitrarily, basically anything
HOW THE FUCK DO I GET TAMRIEL REBUILT WORKING ON OPENMW
You follow the guide on TR website.
>is that a.. town? with half a dozen occupants? who all have the same voices? whoa.. so this is the power of open world rpgs.. whoa
>*gets killed by a bandit with endgame glass armor*
He said Morrowind, not Oblivion.
so it has half a dozen more pixelated occupants
same shit
should i get gog version or steam?
I don't think it matters
gog version is easier to pirate if youre into that, theres no actual difference between either of them though
hey look they're fishing 🙂
Why do these fuckers block the hallway CONSTANTLY FUCKING MOVE AHHHHHHHH
Open the console and type: ra
WE'RE WATCHING YOU
SCUM
It's symbolic you fucking s'wits. Let's see you enchant a better ring in base Morrowind, including enough self damage to kill you.
What did bethesda mean by this?
Fucking chiggers stole the magickalytic converter out of my centurion
I was going through the construction set recently and I noticed there's a place called "Telvanni Monster Lab" in Vivec, Telvanni Canton
It's a Velothi tomb but has Dwemer automatons, an alchemy lab and a smithy
huh
i too would like to commit biological experiments with magicks
