My friend works at an Xbox owned studio and oh boy the higher ups are PISSED about Stargate getting a 7 from IGN/Gamespot (they will be "punished" for it).
They are also PISSED about Baldur's Gate 3 not launching on Xbox. People are paying for that one because it was a self inflicted wound.
The Activision buyout is being now criticized internally because it would be like buying "another Bethesda".
This could all lead to a huge upper management shakeup. Don't expect much from ES6 because now Microsoft is starting to meddle in it after Starfield.

the main takeaway here is that rather than realizing they made a 7/10 game, they want to punish the reviewers for giving them a 7 without improving their products

they should be because the review is in bad faith.

I dont believe you because if you read between the lines and ignore the blatant marketing lingo about starfield being the next generation of RPG then it becomes apparent that starfield did not work out the way they wanted and they did not have high hopes for it when they got to the end of their development cycle. The fucking xbox ceo guy even said that it was not going to be a system seller.

So yeah i doubt they are surprised about starfield not getting better reviews.

that is not proof of anything. that is steam. we still dont know game pass numbers. if you read about game pass it sounds more like thye wanted starfield to give justification for gamepass than thinking it would push gamepass to the next level, as gamepass numbers were already slowly climbing but xbox felt insecure about not having enough exclusives to offer.

Ill bet the next elder scrolls will be gamepass exclusive for thefirst 6 months and we will get more hilarious consolewar shitposting about snoys havingto wait and xbox users being beta testers for todds biggest hit since skyrim.

      >took like 10 years to make, possibly indicating a troubled development
      >only gameplay showcase was some heavily scripted and heavily edited footage of 20 seconds worth of combat
      >didnt talk at all about how spaceflight worked before release despite it being a major feature, and obviously not being up to standards
      >sold out to xbox mid development
      >xbox CEO said that it was not going to be a system seller
Just going off of what we know as a fact it seems pretty obvious that they werent happy with how starfield turned out and they didnt have high expectations at the end of its development.

This is before you factor in all of the leakers who talked about how development was fucked and the team was crushed by how space flight wasnt working out and how thye were trying to save the game from slipping into vaporware status. You can say all the leaks were fake but in hindsight it looks like they were spot on.

what are you even talking about

honestly i think the games the way it is because of cyberpunk and no mans sky both of the companies behind these games proved than you can rush out trash and fix it over the next years with patches, sure devs did it before but never to the extent we saw with these and now with starfield

could a patch really fix the core issues of starfield being boring?

im having fun the standard bethesda stuff like sidequests for the factions are good, the space stuff sucks and so does the performance, planets should have more content too. theres also only 4 cities which is insane they obviously rushed this game out

Skyrim has 10 cities, and 8 towns.

i think mods could fix it with space stations and streamlining the city layouts

sure but more handcrafted cities = more handcrafted quests there might be some modded quests but not for a while and they might not have any voice lines for the character

i think they will remove "gamers" who got promoted up and start focusing on people with backgrounds in finance like activision does. Microtransactions and short term profits are the game of the AAA title.
