I invested 16 hours into Fallen Order and now I have no desire to ever play the game again. My last goal was to visit planet Dathomir and I'm pretty sure I have all the equipment and force powers at my disposal. Quite frankly I'm just getting bored. And navigating the environment can be a massive pain if you're not super comforatable with the map. The new game would have to incorporate at least one of these following fixes before I'd pick it up.
    >1. Fast travel to certain areas of the map.
    >2. Ability to designate waypoints on the map.
    >3. Return to ship function that can be accessed from the main menu.

Just one of those fixes would make the game fundamentally more fun to play.

That's fair. Trying to navigate the maps was definitely the worst part IMO. I think the sequel just needs a more coherent design philosophy. Felt like the devs got so wrapped up in trying to blend Uncharted, soulslike, and metroidvania elements that they all just wound up being mediocre imitations rather than a singularly-focused, polished experience

the game feels like it ends with dathomir. the kyber crystal planet is very linear. then you only have the bogano vault which is only cutscene shit. and then the final level which is short and underwhelming and is basically a hallway

      Anonymous

The map layout, design, navigation, etc. was irritating. The maps essentially worked out to collections of more or less linear "levels" you were meant to tackle from start to finish, but they were organized in such a way that it was often difficult to tell which you were "on" or if you were missing one, or something, and then navigating back was a huge hassle. They should really look at Ratchet and Clank, which it seems they did, and just more closely to that format. Make any given path distinct on the map, make branching points clear, and put in some kind of fast travel or shortcuts to/from the beginning and important nodes.

We will never have another Force Unleashed ever, we will never have another KoToR2 and certainly not another JKO JKA.

We shouldn't have shat on Georgy Porgy so much, especially when he took the EU so serious as to make 5 autistic categories of canonicity which is the whole reason we even had cool games and series to begin with.

Delusional, and no I'm not defending Yidsney. Every decision George made from RotJ on was exclusively motivated by money, every decision was driven by him owning the merchandising rights. It's why Qui Gon exists, its why we have Ewoks instead of Wookie slaves, its why every movie needed a special lightsaber gimmick.

It is more accurate to say that it was lauded because it understood things that were already in the films, but that nerds (fans, writers, and writers who are fans) did not understand.

Like, Obi-wan is a lying scumbag even in the OT who manipulates Luke, and he and Yoda are 100% wrong about everything about the conflict (like, killing Vader and the Emperor are bad ideas which would not work).
Taking the incompetence of the Jedi seriously and interrogating it for several hours at great detail is not exactly treading new ground.

        The star wars movies, 1-6.

          Anonymous

That's wrong. There are a lot of different (thousands?) Vaders, different interpretations, many of which have nothing to do with the movies.

If you imagine that Vader is like, super-saiyan levels of strong in the OT, despite not actually doing anything really amazing or explicitly supernatural, you've been tricked by the EU.
What you should be asking is like, "hey maybe Han has a point that the force actually, objectively, indistinguishable from tricks and nonsense?"

To me he sounded like an unsure and unconfident teenage Padawan. Just the right type of guy to get topped by Merrin

        Anonymous

Sure but when he’s talking to BD or if you hit the splice button when there’s nothing to splice his dialogue with BD is kind of the prime example. And the unsure part I would get if every time he returned to the mantis he didn’t get all wienery and act like he’s the shit. To be honest though I’m not even far enough to have met that girl yet but I do kinda know a little about her. I just got the claws for climbing after fighting that Fallout 76 bat boss.

          Anonymous

If you killed the bat already then you've already met Merrin. As for his voice when he talks to BD, I don't think he should really need much emotion there. It's just a repeat dialogue passively thanking BD for giving him a stim or something. But you're right that he's also a little wienery, but I think he only behaves like that around friends like Cere and Greez. When he's talking to people he just meets, or to his enemies, he's always sounded much more afraid or cautious to me than wienery.

But isn't that metal guard on the bottom of the laser crossguard? So it will still protect its user from burning his fingers, and if somehow your enemy is getting his lightsaber underneath the crossguard of your lightsaber then you've got bigger problems than accidentally cutting yourself on the guard.

The beam for the crossguard comes from the same crystal as the beam for the blade itself, so it's not as simple as just cutting through the metal, there is lightsaber underneath that metal too.

The hypothetical ways in which you are describing the hilt of the crossguarded-lightsaber being destroyed are equally applicable to regular non-crossguarded hilts as well, so what are you arguing? You're arguing that if your opponent chops your lightsaber in half you're screwed... and that's true of all lightsabers.

The ways in which Kylo uses his crossguard are never to catch the blade of another lightsaber--it's always used to directly damage an opponent, like when he leans into Finn to burn his shoulder with the crossguard. Or it has been used to defend against multiple non-lightsaber wielding foes, like the Praetorian Guards who have some type of electric magna-energy weapons or whatever the frick, they don't cut through the hilt.

I never seen a good argument of what lightsabers forms would pair well with the crossguard. I've only seen form I, II, V and maybe VI being the closest candidates.

all the more reason it makes it stupid.

anon, that's from visual dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo. It's the best thing to reference given his dishonest record.

i literally dont know/care who that is, regardless, it's silly

collides with crossguard and shattered laser crystal or dislodges it
The hypothetical ways in which you are describing the hilt of the crossguarded-lightsaber being destroyed are equally applicable to regular non-crossguarded hilts as well, so what are you arguing? You're arguing that if your opponent chops your lightsaber in half you're screwed... and that's true of all lightsabers.

The ways in which Kylo uses his crossguard are never to catch the blade of another lightsaber--it's always used to directly damage an opponent, like when he leans into Finn to burn his shoulder with the crossguard. Or it has been used to defend against multiple non-lightsaber wielding foes, like the Praetorian Guards who have some type of electric magna-energy weapons or whatever the frick, they don't cut through the hilt.

when you watch the movies, you always see the 2 fighters collide weapons, or both lean into them staring at eachother like some dumbass cliche. With this "hilt" it just allows the one without one to bring their sword downwards to disable it easily.
most hilts are there to lock enemy swords in place after a blow to try and disarm or throw off their balance, it serves no purpose within this universe except for the two instances you have described. it makes it feel cheap as it's written solely just for one purpose, "too look cool" aka memesword

Both would be capable of "bringing their sword downwards to disable it easily". Tell me how somehow not having a hilt makes it impossible for your opponent to slide his lightsaber down yours and hit your hilt.

You do realize one with the hilt is at a straight disadvantage due to they would need more time to pull away and limit their swing direction because of this fake hilt, yes?

No, why would that be true? Because their lightsaber weighs a couple pounds more? Because you think they might cut themselves on their crossguard somehow even though it has a metal rail to prevent that?

I found it difficult (or rather, annoying/frustrating) at times precisely because of the jank. With a game like Sekiro I felt like I clearly understood the timing/rhythm of parries after enough time with the game, but I don't think I ever got that with Fallen Order. Felt more like you might as well flip a coin every time and maybe you'll hit your parry, maybe you won't

Sounds like a skill issue, since people are able to make "perfect parry, no hit" playthroughs on grandmaster.

ok so since lightsabers are plasma blades they don't really get heavier the longer you make them, right? so why doesn't everyone have like a really fricking long saber to auto win fights? maybe sidearm a smaller one when the saber-lance becomes impractical like in a tight space or something

      Anonymous

      >so why doesn't everyone have like a really fricking long saber to auto win fights?
They do, its called a dual-phase which allow one to extent or shorten the blade. Some even change crystals, which can change the color.
      > maybe sidearm a smaller one when the saber-lance becomes impractical like in a tight space or something
Those exist, remember Yoda's short saber?

So, from my understanding of the lore (and of course, take this with a grain of salt—it's certainly not consistent), a lightsaber is basically pure energy. It's so intense that it sort of 'pushes back' at you (kind of like it has thrust), and it's incredibly difficult for non-Force users to control and wield effectively. See, e.g., the Mandalorian when he tries using the darksaber—it's like it has a ton of weight to it. So I think this zweihander-esque form is basically just cranking up the energy output, giving you slower / 'heavier' attacks that wouldn't be practical in all combat scenarios

        Anonymous

pretty much, its why Adegan Crystals and illum Crystals are so desired. They make the lightsaber easier to handle. On the flip side, Using Syn-Crystals makes it more harder to handle.

Why? The exploration sucks, the backtracking sucks, you can't tear the mal apart with your gay saber or the Force, the characters are all soulless and they couldn't care enough to design some shitty hobo clothes with a hoodie? Did they just waste all the money on graphics and Forest PISSING Whitaker? Was EA pissed off because they couldn't find a way to add microtransactions in this game? I just got this game on PsPlus, I need answers

      >Why?
It was Respawn Entertainment's first time ever making a game that's not an FPS. They probably just ran out of time to implement actual loot/gear/stats systems, and then just made the "loot" into cosmetic ponchos and saber hilts.

Not sure about most of what you're saying, but one thing I really don't understand about singleplayer games like these is why they lack so much customization? It seems like developers really underestimate the amount of time or in-game cash I'm willing to spend in order to collect cool outfits, adornments, weapon skins, ship skins, and what not. How hard can it really be for them to put up a "shop NPC" somewhere in one of the hub locations where you can buy all kinds of cosmetic shit from him? The game has some, but not nearly enough as it could or should--and what they do have I don't care about, like the gay ponchos.

        Anonymous

I still can't believe they made a game where you have to backtrack all the way in some weird designed map because... somehow... the jedi kid forgot how to use his jedi powers. All of that for you to unlock some pink freaking poncho that looks like shit.

          Anonymous

I don't always mind when you have to go back to a location or map to backtrack and get collectibles, but when you have to go back to the same places again and again for story-related reasons, then it becomes clear the locations are being used like that so the developers can skimp on creating different areas for you to go to instead. Like Dragon Age II forcing you to navigate the same dungeons again, and again, and again, for story quests.

Hopefully this next game features much more planets and much larger environments for us to explore.

My hopes are like going from nugow to Ragnarok, less cutscenes/shorter cutscenes and more gameplay.
And the result will be the same (it gets worse)
Also im guessing the "puzzles" will go the same route. Your droid or other companions will immediately quip the solution before you even realize there is a puzzle.

I will never understand Ganker. Sometimes I thing I do but then something like Fallen Order / Jedi Survivor happens.

Basically, alright game (6-7 out of 10, maybe more if you're SW fan) gets released. It's alright, people play it, talk a bit about it, and then move on. After several months they announce a sequel. Instead of "wow, cool, let's hope they won't frick this up" Ganker loses it's shit over fricking beard.

But, aside from all the horny posting, there's also a general hype for the game among the normie community. Star Wars execs must expect this game to sell well after showing it off at the Game Awards with all that stage design that went into the presentation and the reveal of the first trailer. But if they don't cash in on a Merrin romance, or worse, make Cal gay, then you can expect all discussion of this game to come to an abrupt halt a week after it's release.
