His story has a good ending. His story begins with a thirst for revenge that he finally executes or decides that it is not necessary, depending on what the player wants. No matter what, you get what you want. Not to mention the mystery that Mauriece was subjected to a brainwashing process hidden in Blume's system (when Mauriece says "I finally get it" when you are ready to put a bullet on his head")

It's the whole Chicago fixer system that has untapped potential. It is a whole criminal autonomous ecosystem that has place for virtually any story you want to tell.

The only good watch_doges protagonist in the only good watch_doges game.

For once, they did a good thing in not dragging out an individual story and character for the train of endless sequels. Then they made two shitty sequels with a shitty moron protagonist and his shitty moron friends, none of which even resemble dedsec from 1, and a second sequel with no protagonist because every character is randomly generated and pitch shifted. And then, they dragged Aiden out of the grave to make him old and gray for a DLC.

Deadsec are former Blume engineers who got fired because corpos don't value skills, only greed.

Not even. The only improvement was more hacking options, but

I tried to play 2 but the gameplay is literally downgraded.
In 1 if you blow something up, most characters will react. So you can like blow a pipe during a shootout that'll startle or knock the enemies even if they're far, giving you a window to shoot back or run and making the world and characters feel connected. In 2 enemies are either within lethal range of the explosions or they ignore it completely.
Stealth is also broken in 2. In 1 if someone spots you, you have a split second to take them down before they alert the rest of the enemies. In 2 the exact moment an enemy sees you, every enemy on the map knows your exact location.

makes gunplay much worse. The camera is also moronic.

Yeah that's pretty much the (surprisingly based) story of WD2. Watch Dogs 2 improves upon a lot of this. San Francisco is much more interesting to explore, side content is better having actual side missions instead the normal Ubisoft collectathons, driving isn't the best but it is a considerable improvement over WD1 and the world is much more fun to interact with due to the intricate NPCs. Too bad about the story doe, that shits all over the game.

Loved this game when I was a kid, I still remember the first mission where you shoot up a crack den all bloodied while dual wielding Uzis and the ending changes depending on whether you're a good or bad cop. At the time the ability to handcuff people on the street and falsely accuse them of crimes like planting drugs on them and such felt super realistic

It's got some glitches for sure and it was too ambitious for that era of consoles, but something about that game has really stuck with me over the years. I've played better games and forgotten them quicker. I was around 12 when it came out and remember it snowing pretty hard outside the first time I played it. Both True Crime games have a dream-like quality to them that I can't quite describe properly.

You should, its one of the rare video game stories that are well written and completely serious without any 2deep4u bullshit.
Also it's probably the best take at a noir crime story set in modern day across any media.

To be fair, Aiden is completely immature.

        >Hey, former partner, I have a lead and I need you to explore it, we both want answers so how about we tolerate each other for one week?
Aiden could have just asked him to present his excuses to his sister, but nooooooo. He had to play the man.

To be fair, Damian was a nutcase. He never recovered mentally from the injury he got. He was arrogant and prone to anger. Not a team player. Jordi was stable and reliable even being a fricking crazy dude too.

            Just...

            >Damian was a nutcase
Point taken, but how is this a problem? Becoming a capeshit hero named the vigilante is what mentally stable people do? Aiden could have just worked on the leak and called it a day.

Seems to be some kind of discrepancy there because the want to play the mysterious man card with the fox alias but at the same time the public enemy angle with the real name

                Anonymous

The radio news are bugged in the game, as they'll refer to Aiden by name even before his identity was known.

Anyway I kinda like that the Fox name was not made to be very important, as Aiden clearly isn't trying to be a hero*, he's just a guy trying to avenge his niece but people don't know that and see someone fighting crime and have an idea of him that's disconnected from what's actually going on, so the "The Fox" is actually a fake and not relevant to the events of the game.
*until he achieves his goal at the end and decides to embrace being a vigilante

They make a bigger deal of him being The Fox both in the DLC and in his WD2 cameo. In the base game of WD1, unless my memory fails me, he's only ever referred to as The Fox *once* during the news in the credts

i can barely remember this guy, can't say anything about his motivations and backstory today. It's weird because i tend to remember everything vidya, i can even remember this bland ass assassin's creed 3 protagonist and his general overview/motivations, but Aiden just escaped me. Something something family lost? Or family trauma? Sense of justice, i guess? He felt like he wasn't there at all.

I liked the game though, setting was spot-on and I loved general feels of cyberdystopia that's barely any different from our ordinary modern world. Had some degree of fun with gameplay, too, even though I can't say it utilized the setting as much as it could. Would replay it, play some poker, and leave the game alone

Almost all of the missions can be done stealthily with zero kills.
Even the human trafficking mission looks like a forced combat sequence, but other than the two guards you have to kill by blowing up the generator, you can actually just slip past the guards.

Aiden's hypocrisy and inability to grieve properly is the whole point of the story, though, so you should probably kill a lot.
