    1. There was a talking cat.
    2. A wolf holding a sword the size of a house doing giant flips in the air.
    3. A crow carrying you from an undead prison.
    4. A talking crow you can trade items with.
    5. A fat demon with a gigantic club that you can block attacks with and not have every bone in your body broken.
    6. A trap casting an illusion over an entire city.
    7. A swamp that leads to an underground lake full of gigantic trees.
    8. Skeletons who roll at you on giant wheels.
    9. A final boss who does flips and shit despite being old and decrepit.
    10. A talking snake popping out of a hole.

None of what gets presented here or in this games sequels or spiritual successors is anymore outlandish.

Kinda this. DS1 is a good game but it's highly overrated by millions of morons too dumb for a real action game. So DS1 and now the series at large is used as a surrogate action series for midwits and morons to feel like they're good at something. Still amazes me how Ninja Gaiden 2 came out three years prior but somehow a slow and sluggish game like DS1 gets memed as the hardest game ever.

No one thinks DaS1 is hard anymore, it was percieved as hard at the time because it came out in the heyday of babymode handholding shit like Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed

Less unfinished, more like they didn't have time to polish and expand upon them. Same for boss fights. The quality begins to slowly decline starting with Anor Londo.
New Londo is a dark hallway. Tomb is a darker corridor. Lost Izalith is, well, you know. Archives is decent but the courtyard is ass and the cave is the same but with shitty slanted floors. Kiln and Ash Lake are basically non-existent in terms of content.
As for bosses Seath is a pushover with a forced death, Bed is a gimmick, Nito is a glorified gearcheck and Gwym is a pushover without a forced death.

                >having to open the menu again every time you want to use a Soul
The workaround for that was to put them on your consumable bar and use them like firebombs or estus, it still takes a while but it's a lot less annoying than having to open the menu and scroll down to it for every single one. I think the remaster also lets you just use multiple at once like the later games too

New Londo is fine and probably shouldn't have been thrown under the bus, its forgettable as an area and four kings is a dps check but its not offensive and popping curses to kill ghosts was neat
Dukes is bad, The main library is fine, But seath is garbage and crystal caves is awful.

Games will usually give you a way to illuminate said dark areas. At launch there was no guarantee for a lantern head, and even now the one that is guaranteed to drop is way after the darkness begins. I, anon, understand, that this thread is just a bait, and aswer in this thread completely willingly.
All of the Souls games are games with setting, where you kill gods, travel through gigantic (in terms of scaling of everything compared with character, not in terms of world size) castles full of giants, electric spear harpies, undead dragons, non-undead dragons, giant ex-winged snakes playing on both sides, magically collapsing worlds, Seethe and other clearly magical stuff. It's not medieval fantasy setting. It's how japanese see european legends through the prism of anime-styled things. Small human-sized enemies with rusted swords are only 5-15 percents of the entire game. You had chosed wrong franchise to delve into "realism" your plain dull soul craves.

Not baiting, it's true and you know it but don't want to admit that the Ganker favorite game series is 100% anime

Still doesn't excuse the shift to every single enemy, even the most bumbling fat and moronic ogres somehow having sommersault flip movesets

bloodborne is one of their best games. If it was designed like DS3 or Elden Ring every single moronic blood drunk hunter would have AoEs and do backsteps, and Blood Starved Beast would start hopping around the room grabbing onto pillars. have a nice day you strawmanning moronic homosexual nufromdrone.

They're all hunters so it makes sense they'd be able to do some animu moves but they're about as fast as you, very easy to parry and stagger and not nearly as spammy as most ER bosses. They're not comparable in their bullshit at all.

If fromsoft had the resources to do crazy boss fight in DeS, they would have absolutely done it.

This fella almost filtered me, I went blind into the game and was playing longsword, had to go grind the good scythe to kill him

how did you even find the DLC area if you were playing blind?

I played blind in offline mode. Found it by chance on my 2nd playthrough in which I decided to explore every nook and cranny. Same for big hollow and ashlake. I'm sure there is more but I can't be arsed to play through a third time.

I played ds1 shortly after bb and I don’t get how people consider artorias fast.

Unless they remade the levels from the ground up, there's no fixing it. You can frick around with enemy placement like SotFS did, but that barely helps.

Why the frick does the scripted death from Seathe have the ability to curse you? I got cursed and couldn't leave to get a purging stone. Annoying.

Tomb of the Giants is better with the worm light, skull lantern is shit.
The problem with tomb of giants is the sume of not seeing shit plus the dog skeletons and the narrow paths that make you fall to your death, all put together is a load of bullshit, those big skeletons aren't the type of enemies that you put in dark and narrow zones with free fall cliffs
