gamesir unironically, 8bitdo, gulikit, as long as they have hall effect sticks.

gamesir refusing to adopt an octagonal d-pad makes me stay away from them, and they always cheap out somewhere on the controller if it does one thing well, like putting membrane switches in somewhere

Unironically buy a DualSense. it feels good in the hands and the weight is actually nice compared to the old PS controllers.
I've used one on my PC for like 2 years now on a daily basis. No problems at all.
It's worth spending a little extra.

Xbox controllers are alright but they're very light and the face buttons require a long press to actuate.
I liked the clicky dpad but hated the joystick layout.

Avoid 8bitdo, they feel as cheap as their price indicates.
The one I used had joystick inconsistency on the left stick and cheap feeling face buttons.

      >Dualsense

I have the opposite advice. Dualsense hardly holds a charge for longer than 2 hours. 8bitdo lasts for almost 10 hours easily.

F310 is ol' reliable, though I'm kinda interested in a 6 face button controller, putting the L3/R3 on the two extra face buttons for better usage overall.

while i personally dont like the playstation controller layout, just from a construction and durability standpoint the DualShock 4 is one of the worst controllers ever made. source: i do hardware mods on controllers regularly.

id recommend a nacon or...really anything else. there are a lot of third-party controller now that arent trash, and use hall effect sticks and stuff like that.

yes. dont mistreat it, because its really fragile and really poorly built.

i treat my stuff very well, its not a matter of them being abused, they are flimsy and poorly constructed. take one apart, and take an xbox one controller apart. its staggering how much better build the xbox controller is. its actually a little overbuilt, they are a pain in the ass to disassemble.

Let me explain something for you, since you seem underaged by the way you type and probably don't know any better. There are about a half dozen sources of input delay going on when you play a video game that people individually would call negligible. When added together, they aren't actually negligible and make games feel worse to play. Because of this, you should still try and address as many steps of input delay as you can to make input delay as unnoticable as possible.

                Anonymous

the only reason wireless controllers are as fast as wired now is because sony refuses to increase the polling rate one the wired ports

Not inherently true, but it's mostly correct for first party controllers and third party dongles. Third party bluetooth controllers typically have an acceptable average latency but have zero consistency in when inputs are sent.

Why? Everyone dies sooner or later.

Plenty of actual experts told that stupid Black person his 'sub' was a death trap. But just like Kobe Bryant, he knew more than the experts.

          >Eveyone dies sooner or later
Yeah but not everyone gets hydraulic pressed at the bottom of the ocean. Kinda a morbid way to die even if it was quick

that's the best way to die if anything since it's so quick you can't even react before you're squished into a grain of rice

    Best Dpad?

      Picrel or

Vader 3 pro is the best bang for your buck on the market for PC right now
There's better, there's cheaper, but this is the sweet spot

Former's easier for diagonals, latter's on a better controller overall, both will cleanly give you the inputs you want.

        >why have a d-pad when you can have a fricking plate
        what the frick is that

It's an Xbox Elite dish. Like the Elite, it's swappable with a standard cross d-pad too if you prefer that.
No idea how the internals compare, but the dish shape with raised edges makes diagonal and quarter/half circle inputs easy and reliable.

    Xbox One controller.
    - wired or wireless
    - works with practically everything

The only major feature it is missing is gyroscope but that's not needed for vast majority of games

Get a dualshock. The switch/third-party Chinese controllers should be better, but there are a lot of bugs with Switch controllers and Steam Input (if you use it). Also, the Chinese controllers from every brand seem to have QC issues to varying degrees. Personally, the only issue I have had is with using any Switch controller on PC. I have controllers from most of the popular third-party brands, and mostly rotate between a dualshock and T4 Kaleid (in PS4 mode, the switch mode has bugs). I have never gotten stick drift on any controller. I avoid using L3/R3 because I think that's what causes it.

PowerA is a good value meal at 30$. Just do not expect it to have a premium feel.

I feel for the digital sticks meme and bought a King Kong controller
    >Have to do a full 360 movement for both sticks once the controller starts up or they'd continue to drift
    >It's connected as a switch controller so all the haptic feedback is being received but the motors inside can't pull that off, so "subtle" vibrations are definitely not subtle
    >Bumpers click
    >Triggers are very sensitive and don't have pressure levels, so in racing games for example I gotta let go of the trigger or I'd accidentally brake
    Aside from that, it's functional
