it was an average or even above average game, it just had too high expectations
aka they weren't afraid of releasing an overhyped game, like how valve is too afraid to release HL3
also APPARENTLY they were working on a new one in 2015 & only (announced they) gave up in 2017

It wasn't a failure, it just released after too much and didn't held everyone expectations, but it was a fun game and i liked it.
The sad irony is that, despite taking so ridiculously long, it ended up being released unfinished.
