What the frick are you talking about it went from survival horror to horror action to survival horror that's not an identity crisis that's doing something moronic and realizing you did something moronic
RE4, RE5 and RE6 stepped into action territory
RE7 was a course correction back into the horror roots, perhaps too far into horror
RE8 tries to have it both ways, between the arcade silliness of RE4 but with the storygay and horror shit of RE7, failing spectacularly at both since it can't decide what it wants to be anymore
God knows what RE9 will look like
Eh? What silliness was there on village? Like you said it did try to lean on action and horror (and failed) but there were zero wacky moments. >God knows what RE9 will look like
If ever a series was in need of a complete reboot its RE
the entire tank segment with Heisenberg, where you're flying through the air fighting a giant robot as thousands of pieces of metal fly around, you explode and slam on the floor and somehow survive
>game with a huge marketing budget and viral shilling with le big booba lady gets good reviews from normalgays and journos
imagine my surprise
They're already going back to it being action again.
They had the perfect opportunity with RE7 and REmake2 to clearly split off the series into Survival Horror installments and action installments, instead they wanted to have it both ways so now we get games trying to do both and its shit.
I'd bet money that RE9 will follow Chris and be like his Call of Duty sections in RE8. they fail to realize that first-person is objectively inferior in terms of mechanical depth as third-person

Only Revelations 1 and 2 have some kind of design logic progression.
Code Veronica, 4, 5, 6 ,7 ,8 is like they're starting all over again trying to figure out what to do. It's almost like they're not even trying to make RE games but just use the IP name and tie in umbrella Corp somehow.
Rev 1 & 2 were irrelevant and didn't make money. So you're wrong. Stop being cringe and having contrarian takes. No one is impressed nor should they be. The best thing about the Revelation is the dude who made the first one was elevated to director of division 1, made 7 and saved RE.
>didn't make money
Congratulations anon, you're moronic! Here's statistics from Capcom's own "Platinum Titles" list, showing that Rev 1 and 2 are its 39th and 28th best selling games of all time respectively!
yeah I'll give you that one
Mario
Unironical answer.
Digimon, let's be real.

Resident Evil 8 has no idea what it wants to be. Its a disappointing mess
Yeah that's why it has gloating reception on every platform it's on?
