If GF was having issues with space, and Iwata had not been there to improve asset compression, do you believe that they would have been able to include an entire post-game Kanto? The argument is not that Iwata coded Kanto, but that he saved them space which allowed them to add content they would have cut otherwise. Obviously post-game is going to be cut before main.

A lot of the "features" that have been added to Pokemon over the years actively make the games worse. It's pretty funny. Game Freak is lazy but they should probably be even lazier because where they do put effort in they fall on their face.
