It's not even the original devs. The studio got bought out and a skeleton crew of randoms got assigned to this lmao. They probably don't even like working on the game and it shows
It's worse. At first Take Two hired Planetary Annihilation devs to make KSP2. Then they tried to buy the company but the other side didn't accept the deal so instead T2 transferred project to a freshly formed Intercept Games. About 1/3 of the original crew decided to continue the work and I wouldn't be surprised if they had to start from scratch.

Game is probably fucked on a fundamental level. I have no idea why they thought pic related was ok for release. My guess is that none of these people actually play videogames and think that 8~15 fps is fine.
They couldnt even run an ad on Youtube and have it run at high frames. They cant even rig an ad in their favor to look like it runs well.

To be fair, KSP1 also had dogshit performance for the first 5 years of its life. But that they'd start with dogshit performance AGAIN just isn't gonna fly this time. The main reason you'd wanna make a sequel for KSP is to build on a solid foundation instead of continually patching spaghetti code for 10 years until it becomes somewhat passable. But that's apparently exactly what we're gonna get (again).

Even if, and that's a big IF, KSP2 gets all the magical patches and rewrites needed to turn it into a functional game, here's the future you have to look forward to:
>One (1) interstellar system outside of Kerbol for free called Deb Deb - all of the other interstellar systems will be released piecemeal as paid DLC
>Paid DLC for flags, no more custom flags (without mods)
>Paid DLC for Kerbal hairstyles and suits, more emphasis on playing dressup than flying rockets
>Double-dipping on DLC features from the first game, like robotics and EVA science
>They/them Kerbals (with corresponding flags released as free DLC)
Remember, this is the best possible case future you have to look forward, assuming they can pull off a miracle and unfuck the game on a technical level.

Right now, it's not. There are some features that are done better or can be considered better after some polish, but the game is pretty much in alpha.
