Nexus Clash and other text based mmo's

So old style browser based rpgs are seemingly on their way out. It's less popular and they seemingly got killed off by phone games.

Any of you still like them or want to play them?

Most of the bigger ones like urban dead or shartak are dead, or dying even if they still exist. The only one I've found that is still going is Nexus Clash which seems to have active devs and gets regular updates, which is kind of like a apocalyptic/fantasy game with a crapton of classes like liches, or various demons and angels and shit. It's kind of complicated though but I'll drop a link regardless here. It's a full on PVP game and is worth investing time into after the initial learning curb

Do you guys know any other GOOD text based MMOs that still exist and are being worked on?

Pic related, it's the type of game I'm talking about

Oh yeah and Die2nite (zombie apocalypse) survival game where you and 20 other people had to scavenge for 24 hours and make it back inside each night. You had to build your defenses or you will get overrun eventually.
You could also poison items and plant them in peoples inventorys for assassinating people you hate

I tried to get into that game but that one also has a extremely small playerbase unfortunately 🙁

There was also hellrising which still exists but barely anybody plays

What's that? What do you do in that game?

Break people out of jail, bootlegg liquor and do missions, you can own casinos, gamble.
You can do "raids" where you rob banks with 4 other people. You need to come prepared with weapons for the job.

Oh yeah you can assissinate people in this game too but you better come correct when you do it. Takes hundreds of bullets that cost in game money.

Yeah I haven't played either of these games in like 8 years at least it feels like

Die2nite was really really popular years ago.

Oh yeah that's about the same for me before I found nexus clash. I didn't play any game like this for a long time til somebody told me to try it. Shame since it's a fun type of game and they usually have close communities

Oh so it's kind of like those text based gang/crime games then. Yah I could for some reason never get into those 🙁

Ya. I couldn't afford a gaming pc or anything when I played these. So I took what I could get for online gameplay.

I get you. When I played these games initially like 15 years ago I was poor as hell and had a hand me down PC

I used to play Urban Dead, Shartak, Quarantine 2019 and Nexus Clash
I actually quit Nexus Clash a few months ago because I was bored, I was playing the game for like 10 years already. I was sohdbrimks if you remember me (I deleted my discord too because I only used it for this game)

Are you talking about MUDs? There’s a whole rich history of “text based MMOs.” I think midevia is still up and popular

Not quite. These are games you can play in a internet browser rather than a MUD. Both are text based though so I get the correlation

I've played Urban Dead but dropped it after a week. Kingdom of Loathing too, but I don't think it counts. Other than that, Scroll Wars and some scavenger post apocalypse one.

Holy frick Scrollwars? Who the frick were you? I was also on SW back in the day.

I wanna say, Nexus Clash is the closest I've gotten to a Scrollwars experience but with AP instead of battlepoints

    I WILL BUMP THIS THREAD
WHO THE FRICK ARE YOU OP
also if anyone's checking out OP's game, this is gonna sound moronic but hear me out
    it gets better
the game has an absolute dogshit new player experience (it's gotten better) due to its design so much that you'll feel like an npc until you're level 15 or so
but when you actually get it rolling and start understanding the mechanics it's pretty fun
by no means a casual game though so if you want to get good you'll need to do some reading and hopefully some asking

        so are (You), homosexual
never made that a secret lmao if you know me from pre-this breath you'd have known that at a glance but that's enough circlejerking, that's a bad look

do yourself a favor and don't play nexus clash

there are a bunch of cons to playing NC yes but most of them could be solved by more (and different) people playing it
and by different I mean people from different internet places with different cultures
NC suffers from a low player base and so you can't really play your fricking heart out and grief X faction because A B and C players who are in X faction are also in YOUR faction and they're liable to throw a fit about pvp happening in a pvp game
so really what this game needs is an insular community walking into it and just playing with themselves and interacting violently with the rest of the community
be the heels, the hated ones
in the old days the SA goons would do that but who the frick knows what goons do nowadays
