Nintendo is simply better for video games and the people who make them. Admit it.

Even those two lone examples aren't real closures, first was just moving things around, second was Sakurai's temporary thing for Kid Icarus.

Sora is not a company, is a name Sakurai uses whenever he makes a game, the only "employees" in Sora are himself and his wife.

That's Sora ltd. Project Sora was a distinct entity
It existed when Kid Icarus Uprising was being developed. It closed immediately after the game released because it was never meant to be permanent

DOS/Windows were excellent platforms for PC. Xbox also delivered.

No. They were the only platforms because they bullied competitors out of the market early on and have effectively been enjoying a monopoly for decades.

Another part of the truth is that Nintendo hardly owns any 1st party studios in the first place, as opposed to Snoy and Microsoft.

more like they are terminally risk-averse and scared of putting their weight behind anything
just look at how most of their own IPs are stagnating
Microsoft and Sony on the other hand are willing to take a chance on studios milk them for all they're worth and throw away their empty dried-out husks, just like the third party studios they are working with

M$ could easily buy a couple more Bethesda and Activisions and they'd still be in the green. They make an absurd amount of money and no matter how much they burn with Xbox it's nothing more than a pet to them. Which makes it so bewildering that they close all those studios one after another. If it was really about money and quality, shit like 343i would've been gone long ago.

Isn't it because Japanese law doesn't let them lay off people as easily so they just shuffle them around? Forespoke studio at Square didn't shut down but just got dissolved into other CBUs.

This is massive cope for people who don't want to admit Nintendo is indeed better when it comes to this sort of thing.
Sony closed Japan Studio not long ago.
      Microsoft literally just closed Tango.
      >Ummmmm ackshually it was the Japanese government that forced Iwata to cut his salary and not fire his workers
Come on, a law that doesn't let you fire anyone? How can people believe this shit?

It happens way less in Japan in general. If its not a law then its a cultural thing.

          It was neither.

It was an Iwata thing because he knew making people worried about their jobs meant they wouldn't do well.

More to the point he also said he'd step down too if necessary because it was the investors he was appeasing more than anyone.

Can you think of a Japanese studio that closed that wasn't owned by westerners? Even when Konami closed its studios there was no news article because it wasn't just laying everyone off. It was just not funding new AAA games and people probably just left on their own.

Does Project Sora even count? Sakurai said it was literally only formed to make KI:U, which is why it was closed after.

If Nintendo was owned by Microsoft
    >The 4th 3D Mario on the platform receives average reviews across the board, the most common criticism being that the formula is getting stale. Many fans also feel the franchise has lost its direction after the last game, where Mario killed Bowser in a rage after the latter killed Peach, in what became one of the greatest upsets in any established game setting
    >Zelda has a new focus on telling cinematic and morally complex stories, the latest one being quite controversial among players and even non-players
    >Pokemon remains largely the same quality-wise, although the current gen's introduction of a paid battlepass and pokeball MTX has seen the franchise make truly exorbiant amounts of money
    >After years of minimal oversight, Monolith Soft releases Xenoblade 3, the last installment of the critically acclaimed and highly successful franchise. The studio gets shut down with no warning a few months after.
    >Metroid is pushed very hard to cement Samus as the most iconic "strong woman" character in games. As there is no one left who knows how to make Metroid anymore, the franchise becomes a pure shooter.
    >Splatoon 5 experiences low player retention, with the most common criticism being terrible balancing and aggressive monetization. The terrible turnout at the latest world championships leads to the development team reduced to a skeleton crew and the game is put on permanent maintenance mode.
    >Donkey Kong still doesn't get a new game
    >Pikmin is a dead franchise, although the Pikmin gatcha game is making a lot of money
