Nintendo Switch becomes the best selling console ever in France
>987.000 Switch units sold in 2022, 50% of consoles sold were Switch in 2022
>That puts the Switch total at 7.09m units since launch, above the record held by the Wii (6.3m) and above the PS4 (6.0m)
>Handheld, Nintendo DS remains untouchable (10.6m units)
>Mario Kart 8 Deluxe attach-rate is above 50% in France, which would translate to 3.55m+ units to date.
>Pokémon had a record-breaking year for a franchise in France.
>Three Pokemon games (Arceus, Violet and Scarlet) are in the overall best-selling top 10 in France in 2022, a first.
>Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the best-selling individual SKU of the year, above FIFA on PS4 at #2.
>They are also planning marketing activity around the Mario movie.

The French are stinky
And hairy
Hot
Nobody cares about your tiny, irrelevant island. Frick off
>island
American education everyone.
>blonde woman holding a afrimutt kid
Pottery
Good bait
Lmao this mutt knows that bongs live on an island and that’s all of his knowledge on europe
Thats implies italy has bad food and good people
>amerimutt, israelite and bolivian snoys sneeding and dilating about the french and their based taste
many such cases
No one cares about console sales on a dying, primitive planet.
seethe more Zorg
First, Marco Pierre White brought French cuisine to Britain and now, the Japanese brought an obsolete device to France. Seems like a fair deal to me.
Everyone I knows who could be classified a casual got a switch to play pokemon on.
I think it's due to the aggressive marketings they've done with the past 3 pokemon games on switch, which I don't remember seeing as much during the 3ds era.
Frick off
Welp, yeah, it's a good console.
attach rate of 50% for Mario Kart is mostly due to French streamers being more social than others and organising tourneys all the time so the game is still relevant for the local gaming culture.
Sounds nice. Wish more people did that
>console that is cheaper and isn't out of stock is selling more than the other 2
no way
this, streamers & youtubers are shilling en masse nintendo's games
French streamers don't shill the game, they just enjoy playing it together. It's something other countries don't seem to have imo, a comunity of streamers, people that come and go on each other chat all the time, and get together regularly for firendly multiplayer instead of competitive.
Yeah, I said shill for the buzzword, but exposition, and the feeling of belonging to a group does wonder as you said
PS4 and wii are really old consoles, also wii being the trashiest since unlike switch it only has a few games that aren't good
>PS4 and wii are really old consoles,
What does it have to do with anything? Switch outsold both in total sales
I'm saying that the comparison with the ps4 and wii shouldn't be because switch is not from the same generation of consoles
Switch launched closer to PS4 than it did PS5 though
Roughly 40 months vs 44 months
What do you propose we compare it to?
really? I felt like it's a fairly new console, especially since it keeps receiving "new" games compared to wii and ps4. My bad then
>PS4 to Switch = 3 years, 3 months, 2 weeks and 2 days
>Switch to PS5 = 3 years, 8 months, 1 weeks and 2 days
it in fact is closer, but it's closer to release halfway through the PS4 generation anyway.
regardless, the switch was competing against the PS4, and is now competing against the PS5, so I don't see any issue in comparing it to either
Really? I thought the PS4 still got plenty of games, such as the GOTY Elden Ring and even games slated for 2023 such as Resident Evil 4 Remake. My bad then.
>I thought the PS4 still got plenty of games, such as the GOTY Elden Ring and even games slated for 2023 such as Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Aren't these games (or at least the ones that are supposed to be truly next gen) supposed to be the last ones? Since they're amputating the games to be on the last gen? (like for Halo Infinite, cyberpunk...)
studios are reluctant to make PS5 exclusives considering it sold wiiU tier so far, so projects are at least dual releases with ps 4 and 5 right now. Even the recent GOW is just a ps4 game with its day one ps5 upgrade
>it sold wiiU tier
PS5 has already passed 30 million sales moron tendie, it's one of the fastest selling systems of all time
>PS5 has already passed 30 million sales moron tendie, it's one of the fastest selling systems of all time
Cool, here they only play shooter games on pc, fifa or some "pc only" game. They rarely play together and even more rarely try anything other than the usual game.
>console that is cheaper and isn't out of stock is selling more than the other 2
It outsold PS4 by 1 million despite PS4 having heavy price cuts
It outsold Wii despite Wii being cheaper
The onions capital of the world
but enough about california
france is the capital of actual onions anon
>France represents about 40% of the European comic market and in 2011 manga represented 40% of the comics being published in the country.
French and germs weebs, nothing new.
Wrong image
The French are all low key weebs, has been the case since Kurosawa films
>low-key
When the French gov announced the program to give young adults free 250 euro for art and culture because they though they would consume french entertainment, it backfired when the early 20 somethings bought their manga in droves.
to be frank nothing is done in school to promote french theatre or litterature (no, forcing middle schoolers to read les misérables will not make them enjoy litterature). And I won't talk about the absolute state of french cinema.
>Gov gives zoomer some money
>They spend it on Naruto
Kinda based tbh
>Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the best-selling individual SKU of the year
Deserved
>top hit game doesn't reach the million mark
A bit depressing to think that the mainland European market is so small.
Europe has always been a PC-centered market. Like in the 90s, I doubt more than a 500 people had a PSX in my country with mine being one of the first 10 in the country. Yet all of my peers had been PC players since kids because of the prevelance of LAN places.
Hi installbase
how do you say "bing bing wahoo" in french?
they use "mariole" (= clown or fool) over at the jeuxvideo.com forums, but I don't think we have an equivalent to "Bing Bing Wahoo"
