Nioh 2

Anyone else on Ganker still playing this? I bought this a couple weeks ago and just entered NG+
Switched from switchglaive to dual katanas and I'm getting my ass kicked because of low damage output (managed to sell my 1070 ATK switchglaive and now I'm stuck with 880 ATK dual katanas)

Order is NG NG DLC, NG+ NG+ DLC, etc
Don't do the DLC of the current dififculty before beating the final boss (or at leat in the last regiion)

Are your weapons up to the proper level, should be somehwere ideally in the level rangeo f the mission level

you could soul match them or just do something like themission: Imagawa Diehard for his set, you can just kill the two sub-bosses then farm Imagawa till he drops Golden Boy Set (swap out the chest piece for something light to stay under c agility)

I recommend playing up until at least Shadow in NG+ before starting the DLC on NG. The devs figured that was about the point the playerbase was at when the DLC came out and balanced it accordingly.

They have wide moveset intricacies on par with bosses without the knowledge carryover you get from the big four of Fuki, Suiki, Kinki and Ongyoki. In other words, you probably just haven't put in the time or effort yet. The Yokai Realms they dump around the place are free buffs for you via perfect purification, and if you're brave enough his weakpoint gets opened up for you to cancel some attacks, but it takes a while to refresh so you just have to know what to block and dodge to get proper punishes.

I'm not inclined to bother with either you or the guy suddenly getting that mad about something the original post didn't seem to say in its poor formatting, but your post actually is a direct and demonstrable lie and someone that learns the game mechanics even a bit should find the DLC a typical expected increase as it is supposed to be. I'm playing right now and I'm midway ng+/dlc (in ng+ you can roam more with mission select).
I don't use dual Kat so I can't give specific tip on that, but you can easily farm a weapon in the first missions of ng+ from graves, anther good spot is the submission where you need to save a cat in the first region:
    Are you using magic/ninpo?
Have you at least 50 in magic/skill?
Are you using confusion? (give 2 different elemental debuff to an enemy)
    Are you using poison/purity?

Your weapon/soul core have life leech (fundamental thing to survive in ng+ imo)
Have you farmed a couple of hours divine equips from graves in the first levels of ng+ to dismantle and upgrade your equip to green?
you have a build? Not necessarily a guide but something your chara should do well(ex, a ton of anima generation for constant use of soul cores). If not consider respec your chara. Remember that your hut now can save your build so you don't lose anything by trying new stuff.

        and stats

Agility is good, but are you need agility A, aka more points in stamina
Your stat are a mess but it's fine because the game still doesn't push very hard
Powerpill won't do much if you don't have much nimpo power. You should choose what you like more between magic and ninja, and respec with 50 in your main skill and 30 in your secondary.
Above all I also suggest you to use barrier and steel
Your weapon is fine, you just need some powerup with soul match and a another green with +1 (you should save every green with a + to upgrade your equip)
Soraya is OK but I think that you have much better choices for your set bonus, since you wanna use dual Kat, there are a lot of set that build on that and give bonus dmg on them

The first thing I see is you want all your gear to be of the highest tier you can get. Maybe you can't get all greens, but you should be able to have all purple. Craft it or farm it, but the higher tiers means more slots for Special Effects. Speaking of Special Effects, those can be changed at the blacksmith. Like gear colors, the higher tier colors Special Effects are better. Damage scaling by stat is a big one worth getting.

Also note that corruption is good against human enemies, but purity is better against yokai. Adding Fire, Water, or Lightning elemental debuff to a purified or corrupted enemy also results in the Confusion debuff which will help.

          [...]
This looks fine enough. I would probably change to A agility and whatever toughness you can get. Expect to die a lot and just learn enemy/boss attacks and iframes better. The speed will make you more mobile.

Now, take a look at the clans. One offers HP regen when you gain amitra. There's also perks on your soul cores. Look at those. Some cores offer elemental damage or defense up or poison accumulation up. Find cores that complement your build.

there's a lot of effects that trigger off Amrita gain, but it's generally more efficient to just use the spell that gives you amrita gain on hit than use the stones in combat

                >amrita gemstones
These? First, they give you amrita. Second, amrita fills your Yokai Shift meter. So, filling up that meter before a big fight is a good idea. Third, some equipment/soul cores have passive abilities that turn on when you gain amrita. But I wouldn't try using them in battle for the most part. You should only be Shifting into Yokai mode once for a boss fight and if you shift more than that, it should be through amrita earned via the battle. But that requires having the right buffs and special effects to make earning amrita during battle a lot easier.

                >You should only be Shifting into Yokai mode once for a boss fight
I know you're trying to talk about how Spirit Stones aren't terribly worth it, but using most Yokai Skills gives you absolutely absurd levels of Amrita gauge with zero investment. Ironically, the Amrita Charge effects on gear do barely anything for you because they only effect the Amrita from enemies, and not what's gained from hitting with Yokai Skills which is where 99% of gauge charge comes from.

Why would you use any spirit that isn't feral?
The dodge is just too good. I could maybe see phantom for slightly faster canceling but that's a maybe.

Different Burst Counters offer different utility and are better for dealing with different Burst Attacks, to say nothing of what the Guardian Spirits themselves offer or the moveset of the Yokai Shift. You can somewhat make due with either when comparing Feral or Phantom but Brute is entirely different and has some specific attacks only it can Counter, to make up for the attacks it cannot counter on reaction.
This is also part of why when you get access to equipping two Spirits at once you should immediately be practicing swapping between the two.

Pretty much any guardian spirits attack (i.e: Hideyoshi's monke, William's Saorise) can only be countered with Brute.

Believe it or not but the monki is burst countable with phantom
You need to be standing where the monkey spawns the first time and counter at the frame it appears.
Absolute edge case and I've only done it by accident but it's possible. But yeah saorise would be totally impossible since it's not an attack.

Not really, he has a habit of standing up and 180ing into an instant attack in like 2 frames when you stab him on the ground, thats not something you can do. Also the complete hyper armor he gets whenever he needs it, when something you previously knocked him out of just shrugs you off because "No, i want to do the grab this time lol frick you."

                Anonymous

What you're describing is either something you absolutely can do, or you mistiming the ground stab, and the latter is probably more likely because all main human bosses get up far quicker which makes doing so harder, but not impossible. Hyper armour is also something you very much get yourself, a boss getting more followups/moves as the fight goes on is very normal and he's not one of the extremely few that can power through a Ki break, even though that is something the player can do with Sword of Meditation.

Why would you use any spirit that isn't feral?
The dodge is just too good. I could maybe see phantom for slightly faster canceling but that's a maybe.

brute is easier to extend combos with
using feral as a dodge is just restarted imo

For me brute is just way too limited for its intended purpose aka. burst countering

That is if you happen to be up your targets ass. It has negative range. I'd rather phantom away and avoid shit if I must.

playing the distance game is the ninjutsu way, which also happens to be the highest damage way.

                The frick you mean "no"?
It's not a debatable fact that ninjustu has access to the most damaging attacks, feathers are fricking ridiculous right out the box and only get more bullshit with scaling and kunai/paralysis combos are the second highest DPS action in the game. The only thing greater is a beyond infinity build with fists when you do the attack with the right timing.

                I said no
As what you said isn't true
In your imperfect build, yes, perhaps with your limited abilities it's the best possible for you but to state it's the best possible when other builds can easily hit the damage cap is, fundementally trolling

You can absolutely feral counter the snake tiddys burst attacks, both the paralyze eyes and the tail slap.

Each has their uses. Some bosses and enemies work better with different Guardian Spirit counters. Also, depending on the Guardian Spirit Protection perks, you may want this or that guardian spirit. For example, a Guardian Spirit that offers high melee ki damage, but is Phantom. Maybe you don't like Phantom, but you want the ki damage. Of course, when you unlock the ability to equip two Guardian Spirits, you can always keep your favorite GS type with you.

I remember when every Nioh thread was just shilling the game by shitting on superior Souls. Now you sperg out whenever anyone compares your abandonware to Souls or Lies of P because the shill campaign has ended.
I liked Nioh 2 and Id' give it 7.5/10 but you're delusional if you think it's even as good as DeS. Only DS2 is worse than Nioh.
Ninja Gaiden however was based as frick and mogs Nioh.

"low damage output" doesn't reasonably exist in the game, and it especially doesn't exist at the point you're at. You need to get a handle on how to use each weapon's skills and how to actively take advantage of Ki damage. Make sure you're using all three stances and Flux, as well as your Yokai Skills to cancel animations, that forms the core of combat and while there's far more to add it stems from the basics. Also if you think it's something to do with your build or if anyone tries to tell you that, it's wrong.

I'm convinced there's no other Katana in any other video game that feels as cool as it does here.

The game makes every weapon unique and very fun to use so it's always worth swapping around to learn them all, but it's true there's just something about katana. The peak easy to learn, hard to master weapon that demonstrates exactly how skilled you really are.

not much. I've got all steam achievements and like 700 hours and there's just not much else I want to do. It's hard to get sucked in like I did the first time, everytime I try I just kill a few bosses in the depths then turn it off. maybe after a longer rest period with a fresh character.
