Sans is more of a millennial character.
For me he was consistently funny and as lame as it sounds his fight was extremely memorable and stood out in almost every way in the game. Don't get me wrong though I couldn't care less if he got in Smash as an actual character or not
he has lots of great backstory and a genuinely interesting personality when it comes to his serious side. I think he is one of the most interesting characters in the game, sucks that the underage kids ruined his image.

Sans isn’t the main character, and he only fights if you go out of your way to kill every enemy and threaten the world. I think Kris would (have) be(en) the best Undertale/Deltarune rep because he’s not only an MC but also a swordsman, and Sakurai sure loves that archetype.
