Dishonored is a terrible game so that's a pretty low bar to clear.

It means better STEALTH that dishonored. Obviously it is a way better game overall.

Not really, because it's not tailored around being a stealth game
DMMM is a game that aged very well, but this meme of "old good new bad" needs to die

        >ambush attacks from behind
        >can bait enemies
        >can reset aggro
        >can go through chunks of game without killing a single enemy
It might not be conventional the way you re thinking but it certainly does the job. I recommend ot anyone who liked this game and never tried it

it plays horribly on nightmare difficulty

it's still one of the best immersive sims of all time though, off combat alone but the exploration is rewarded most levels have multiple paths but are linear, the story is serviceable and xana is a wife

Immersive sim is a made up genre to avoid criticism against a larger group. No "immersive sim" has anything in common with another "immersive sim."

maybe because you do not have enough mental capacity that it is not a genre but a design philosophy

calling something an immersive sim means it is adhering to that philosophy of game design, I can break it down for you further just let me know how thick skulled you are

Dark Souls is simply the better game.

These kinds of games are almost always way too easy once you have some baseline competence, Souls games included

Dark Souls' difficulty is almost entirely knowledge based, and once you know the game it's incredibly easy to beat
It's part of the game's design of being challenging but possible for anybody to beat

            Anonymous

So you concede that its based. Interesting.

I agree that it's well designed for what it sets out to do but it also means the difficulty doesn't last past your first playthrough, and a traditional difficulty selection is still entirely valid if you want high difficulty even on subsequent playthroughs
Dark Souls' approach only works because the game is knowledge based with an almost nonexistent mechanical learning curve, hence also why their NG+ has always sucked outside of Dark Souls 2

Being able to stomp the games once you've gotten good at them is the entire point though
What's the point in improving if you're just going to move on to a bullshit hard imbalanced difficulty so you can get kicked in the dick again

These auto saves essentialy act as checkpoints and playing without manual saves make the game more exciting. Do you reload every time you lose a character in XCOM as well?

The hardcore difficulty makes the game unfun.
You are literally forced to abuse the boring floor stab finishers as everything can tank up to 15 power attacks. Hard is fine balance wise.

I'd rather have that than just slash a few times knights with my daggers, stealth gives you the opportunity to kill instantly from behind if they didnt catch you and the game is chokeful with ledges, spikes, crates, etc.
They re dying pretty fast in my game so far, the knights are the end are tougher but I should be alright.

Is this a self-imposed challenge? Because I'm sure you could save and load whenever you wanted.

Yes it is. It's often a pretty interesting way to play in games where quick saves are available but it depends on the auto save timing or placement.

I personally hate quicksaves and refuse to play any game that has them. They're almost always used as a crutch to compensate for sloppy game design and bugs out the ass by removing all consequence from anything, since you can just immediately hit quickload if something goes wrong

          Anonymous

          > refuse to play any game that has them
That's a pretty radical stance. These games can also often have a lot of interactions, systems and physics and it would require much more work than usual to make them bug free, and a lot of games have these bugs as well but it doesnt matter as much since they are extremely generous with checkpoints every 3 minutes. Any game that is more complicated and with more potential will also have more potential for bugs. I'd rather have that and have access to a game like Dark Messiah, Prey or Deus ex than these games not existing. I think it has to do with things like killing npcs that you might regret like a merchant as well. Any way you can play without it if you want, and you it very rarely if you suspect sometthing that would be buggy, unfair or unpredictable to further avoid frustration.

Think I might finally give this game a go tonight. I like Prey 2017 a lot but even on nightmare and all survival options its still way too easy.
