    Where’s Sev? What happened?

Did we at least get a novel?

Imagine a halo 3:ODST like campaign where you’re sev on your own stranded on a alien planet where everything is trying to kill you. Will your squad boys ignore the republic and come get you? Will you die like noble at the end of reach? Will sev join mercenaries and be so ruthlessly effective the rest of the commandos have to take him out?

    Imagine.

single player FPS games are the new RTS. they just don't get made anymore. any FPS with a single player campaign has to have a multiplayer mode that's the main focus so they can milk it for years with seasonal battle passes. sure, every couple of years you can get something like DOOM Eternal but that's a freak occurrence, Star Wars is a big dumb franchise with big dumb games and they'll never green-light the making of a modest FPS like Republic Commando, with its campaign and a little multiplayer mode.

Because devs figured out campaigns are expensive and once secondary MP is what actually sells copies.

    >super battle droids are actually super, and essentially robot Spartans
    >a single commando gets killed by one in 1-1 combat even on easy, unless you hide and use grenades and cover.

Why were these guys pussies in every other game?

Snipe these fools in rep commando and you see thier red eye and they essentially just get enraged when damaged and shoot harder at you

I think when they made them normal enemies in Battlefront and Battlefront 2 everyone just copied that design.

I could be wrong but I was told it's a beefed-up design of a battledroid. I forget what they look like in the movies.

Is Republic Commando the only thing that has the big battle droids?

    >Delta is way more serious and less chatty
    >Most missions involve shutting down rebel cells
    >"Delta we have news there's a rebel leader in planet X, sending coordinates now"
    >Get to the planet and battle your way through rebels
    >get to the base
    >Start getting pinned down by sniper fire
    >Notice blasts are blue
    >"Hey boss is that?"
    >Get to the base
    >The leader is Sev
    >Defeat him
    >get orders to kill him
    >The recruit will do it
    >Gets stunned
    >"Good to have Delta back, brother"
    >The rest of the campaign is about mercenary work

It's actually incredible how they made something distinctly unique, while still sounding like it belongs in Star Wars. Also, those parts later on when vocals kick in.

Is this game enjoyable to someone who doesn't know jack shit about star wars lore? Same for stuff like dark forces

hi normalhomosexual, if you don't like star wars why are you playing a star wars game? also, if you're this weak in will that one little thread is enough to make you play a game, shouldn't you be playing something more popular? overwatch has like, 5 threads or something, go play that.

Didn't play Dark Forces, but this game is extremely straightforward, at most there's a little sneak peek at the minor villain of Revenge of the Sith

If you like FPSs with light squad based tactical elemnts it is worth a go

Extremely enjoyable. Its not very difficult on normal or easy, its about 6-7 hours depending on how good you are with fps in general, and it doesn't overly rely on star wars nostalgia to sell the game. The squad mechanics are fun and the game does a really good job of mixing you up with both squad stuff and solo with good level design.

my only problem with the game was how weak your modular rifle felt. I always went for enemy weapons because of that.

      Anonymous

It's not that your weapons are bad, it's that the level weapons are absolutely nuclear.
The grenade launcher specifically is really good, it makes droidekas and super battle droids much less intimidating.

Basic rifle is terrible, sniper is okay simply for the perfect accuracy but the fire rate is aids. The anti-armor weapons is arguably the best wep in the game aside from terrible ammo, but it will 1 shot almost everything except greivous guards. The pistol is actually not bad at all, imo on par with the sniper.

It's good but gets repetitive towards the end. Play it in a few sittings and don't try to finish it all at once and you will appreciate it more.

How did they get the AI on your teammates to be so intuitive and naturally reactive? Sending them commands felt so easy and rarely if ever did the AI get confused. I've still genuinely never seen a game where your AI mates felt like real players

They call it "giving a frick"

I think it's cause most devs are uncomfortable letting the player have decent ai help. I've always found it frustrating my ai helpers needed the hand holding they do when their enemy counterparts are wrecking shit.

In the dev commentary they talked about working with an actual swat team or something along those lines to get an idea of how they should behave and setup stuff like the door breach maneuvers.
