It's solid. It's a fairly straightforward single-player game, not much to discuss. I personally had a good time, the aesthetic and focus on platforming separate it nicely from most soulslikes.

My two pieces of advice are to prioritize the skill that gives you the ability to make a hammer, and that you fish treasure out of the X's on the ground using the hook skill. Beyond that most stuff is fairly clear from the in-game tutorials and from exploring.

      Mostly this.
Two minuses for me is a fricking shrimp holding weapon in left hand (that pisses me off personally) and premise and dialogues - i had expected something less inclined into social commentary through modern vocabulary language - it puts off somewhat.
"Baba has gun" is fun to try after some frustration.

its not bad. it generally works best by stat dumping either attack or msg, instead of both. as such, it kind of feels bad to either have a dinky attack or useless abilities. early game can feel a little punishing if you dont put anything into defensive stats though.
the writing can be a bit corny, but overall theres a lot of heart.
also the "totally not brand name products" writing on the garbage is pretty amusing.

It's a little too simple to be very interesting to a soulslike vet. But it has a lot of charm. Also it has fairly unique movement systems for the genre although they don't really translate to combat in a meaningful way.

It's hard to say really who this game is for. It's probably a little bit too hard for a little kid, but perfect for like a 10 year old? But then the writing is also somewhat more mature targeting the 13+ age range with cutesy curse adjacent lingo like characters saying they're "shucked" instead of "fricked".

I don't mean this as a negative towards the game but this seems like the ideal game journalist game. It's cute, not too difficult but not braindead easy, and full of quirk/references/meta. I know all that sounds like major red flags, but it is executed in a way that is not overbearing. Unlike an amateur project it knows how to keep the pacing up and makes the jokes and sight gags without becoming annoying.

Overall a game I'm never going to play just because of the aforementioned combat being too simplistic. Notice I did not say easy, I said simplistic---limited enemy movesets and stuff like that. It plays like Des-DS2 era enemy complexity but with better player character mobility. It's a good game by all accounts but just isn't my thing. Clearly these guys know what they are doing though and if they had made the same game but you play as like a stray cat or the same game with anime breasts that would probably move the needle enough to where I would play it. I'll definitely put them on my radar to see what they do next.

If you have gamepass I would just fire it up and see for yourself. It might hook you. It's at least a 7/10 game.

I've been gaming for 31 years. My dad actually owned an arcade so I literally was slapping buttons before I could walk. I don't need to touch a controller to understand exactly what buttons are being pressed and how a game feels to play from just watching footage. You know how you can "visualize" motions in your head like shooting a freethrow or judging how far to throw something? Like you run the simulation in your head without actually moving your arm or body and "calc" the result and then you execute the motion and have above your average success? I apply that same technique of embodied visualization to game footage. Obviously you don't need to calc to shoot a freethrow or throw a ball, you can just flow into those motions, but you can stop and simulate too and the simulated practice counts as real.

Damn millions of simps put on blast for calling women they have never fricked beautiful. If you aren't a brainlet you don't need to engage your body to simulate moving your body. It's a bellcurve meme moment and explains a huge amount of normiegay society. There are actually people walking around who can't experience sensation unless the stimulus is in the room with them. I can't believe we share air with such animals.

As a matter of fact he can. Not as precise as playing the game, but, providing, that it is not a superunique project, that it have many things in common with other games in soulslike genre, in action genre, in any 3d games with action movement, with any game with character movement and even with real life movement, overall experience in all of this categories can allow to assess the game precise enough to understand how you would feel playing it most of the time.

It was alright. The theme was good, but it never rose above being pretty decent indie soulslike. It had some unique ideas with the shells, but lacked something. If you are aching for a non-Fromsoftware soulsgame (and already played Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen 2023), why not give it a go for the price of free

it lacked having more than one attack style. also pretty much all items/rewards are passive

It's automatically better than most soulsclones because it has real art direction instead of trying to copy From atmosphere, combat and platforming are good too for an indie, it has decent exploring wih various little secrets

I really liked it in hindsight. Has some nice worldbuilding and felt more like a 3d metroidvania than a souls like. Rather short though, beat it in like 15-20h. Also don't grind for levels, the game will get way to easy when your res + str reach 20. Best boss was the grove keeper.
