Flare gun is for scout. Not for you. You have your own supply of flares. Scout is supposed to fire a few flares into a new cave and check for cave leeches and other threats. Then scout starts mining. Scout should only fire more flares when HE is looking for more minerals to mine.

He was pretty meh but these days I appreciate a good scout more than a double up. If anything I feel gunner is now falling behind in utility in comparison to everyone else.
With the right scout loadouts you can push respectable kill counts while also grabbing hard to reach minerals and providing light, it doesn't happen often because this class has a higher skill floor than the others

If anything scout might be the worst for hardcarrying a team on h5 in many situations, but i dont think hardcarrying shitters is exactly a great metric for the relevance of characters. The '' scout has nothing to offer in combat '' meme completely died the moment they buffed the ever living frick out of the m1000 and made it able to potentially compete with the lead storm, and it ultimately doesn't matter in h5 because literally everyone is overpowered as frick and you might as well be trying to actively killsteal and inflate your killcounts as a detriment to your chances of winning, purely because its fun and to brag your e-peen (i am guilty of doing that, i'm not shitting on anyone for it, its fun. And yes you can easily come out on top as scout if you play pubs)
If you make a big deal out of other people's classes and loadouts, you're probably a shitter yourself.
If you struggle almost singlehandedly hardcarrying on most (of course not all) hazard 5 missions and think teammates are frequently a detriment, you're just bad, and if you do the above, your build is probably also shit regardless of how much of a screeching tard you are about muh meta

You might find other classes fun if you played the game properly (with other people). Bosco is a poor replacement.
