major zero is practically in love with big boss, his whole feud with him springs from him taking his obsession to extreme measures. Imagine you have a crazy ex who is also some mad scientist that manages to clone you when you're not looking.

Which is weird af when the in the only interactions the player experienced (mgs3) major Tom was a normal coronel/boss dude talking to snake like a normal person. No one would ever thought that he felt like he did or that he was obsessed with the bb/the boss

Well that was his mission to really prove himself, so you could say after that everyone accepted his stats. There's more story on this in MGSV. Zero is fleshed out a bit more.

How many photos of Big Boss are there anyway? Assuming the photos of him shaking hands with the president from MGS3 are declassified, that's probably the last good photo of him to be publicly available. He's not exactly a public figure, bumming around the world with his PMCs.

              Anonymous

Most people that knew how Big Boss looked in his later years died in Outer Heaven, Zanzibar or the Foxhound uprising and most of the records from that time were classified by the Patriots. The best look the public's got of him prior to MGS 4 was probably the 1964 picture of him shaking hands.

So I assume Solidus looked exactly like Big Boss and Solid at one point

Fun fact, Solidus uses the same head mesh as Solid

Solid and Liquid look practically the same, that's why Solid shaves his hair before the start of MGS.

It's pretty much canon that he doesn't know shit about genetics.
It's my headcanon that Liquid's blonde hair is actually sunbleached, and his darker skin is just tan, and that he and Solid are identical.

Liquid also looks similar to Big Boss, recessive and dominant can refer to physical markers as well was internal genetic markers.

Liquid has blonde hair, and blue eyes meaning he got the recessive genes at least here though right. He certainly has Boss's survival skill and killer instinct though.

Liquid is confirmed to be the DOMINANT gene recipient. The blonde hair excuse is the bleaching from being in the sun when he was deployed in the Middle East for his military service. Solid also dyes his hair black since he also wants to further distance himself from Big Boss and also looking too similar to Liquid.

Just because Kojima is moronic and reading faulty translations for his explanations, doesn't change the fact that Ocelot confirms that it's the exact opposite.

Ocelot's quote is: "Yes. The inferior one was the winner after all. ..That's right. Until the very end, Liquid thought he was the inferior one." There isn't mention of recessive or dominant genes.

That's a mistranslation IIRC, the japanese text is clear about it being dominant x recessive

are you joking for (You)s? it's spelled out in plain english in the ending of mgs1 that solid got the recessive genes despite liquid believing the contrary. it's basically the whole message of the game, liquid went insane obsessing over the fact that he thought he was genetically inferior, loses to solid, and then the twist is that liquid actually had the based genes all along and he was seething over nothing, and solid never gave a shit in the first place because he believes you make your own destiny.

Nothing better to do than troll, eh?

I replayed the MGS series recently and they're really not as clever as the fanbase would have you believe. I think they only seem deep because most other video games, especially at the time of MGS's original release, tended to be even more shallow.

They're not much deeper these days too. As someone who only played MGS series recently (right before V's release) I thought it was always abiding the rule of cool first even if there are clear moral messages there, and that's how I liked it. However the twist at the very end of MGS2 elevated it above everything else in the series for me. I'm so glad I avoided spoilers and played these games in release order, it'd be lost on me after 3 tried to explain it all away.

I don't think so, the implication in the dialog is that Eva is too autistic to understand that a man and a woman can have a relationship that doesn't involve sex. But I'm also autistic so idk for sure.

Nah, he just didn't know how to explain their relationship because he's autistic. She was basically his master, mother, friend and mentor all rolled into one. Not exactly family or sexual relationships.
