Not making Nioh 3 is going to be a huge mistake. Instead of building upon the fan base they've built up through 1/2, they're going to try for a whole new IP. Instead of taking something they know they've got down and building upon it, they're going to go down the Elden Ring route and chase after the open world trend. Maybe this'll make sense business wise, but shit's going to end up being a bad video game.

You can stop milking an IP after a great entry, instead of keeping it going until people resent the fricking thing.

And some other game as well. Might be Ninja Gaiden 4 or new IP in the nioh, ninja gaiden and doa universe.

It's not their game. It's a game made by ex team ninja members who refer to themselves as ninja gaiden and doa creators for attention. scumbags

also they are the same people who made devil's turd and samurai jack but they still shilling themselves as ninja gaiden and doa creators instead of devil's turd and samurai jack creators

Its going to happen. But in a long long time. And that's the best decision. Nioh 3 should be exclusive for the next generation of consoles to improve graphics and retain the 60 fps. So the PS5 needs more time to settle. Maybe in 2024.

it's always the skill you need
i got that after a few tries, like the majority of other skills of weapons i don't even use, but never fricking use it

Yeah exactly. Meanwhile I've gotten plenty others after 5-10 tries. I was starting to think my game bugged.

It's a good gap closer. Great for getting in quick and comboing right after a boss finishes an attack chain.

holy hell anon, congrats but you have terrible luck. I got all the weapon arts (that I wanted) in 30 kills at most. can't say the same for the smithing texts though, now THOSE were a pain in the ass.

Dang, I got every boss skill in less than 10 tries, except for Yasuke's Axe skill which was in the 20's IIRC.

I don't know about that. They could have changed up 2 to be more casualized after all those people called 1 a cheap Souls clone. Instead they listened to the people who actually liked the games and fixed things like enemy variety, added character creation and added even more weapons to play around with. They could have very easily dumbed down the combat, loot system and all the NG+ stuff to appeal to a wider audience but they seemed to know what kind of game they wanted to make and stuck to it.

They will make Nioh 3, just not anytime soon, which is fine. I mean unironically they've been focused on Nioh for at least 5 years now, so it's fine to take a break.

Let the devs make the games they want, they're tired of NioH. Not every director is a hack like Miyazaki that regurgitates the same shit for 10 years because they're creatively bankrupt.

nioh is too difficult to be successful

      Anonymous

I think difficulty is relative. If the population of players are used to playing simple games, a game that is slightly more difficult can feel enormously so. Nioh was not that difficult if you come from a Souls background or a fighting games background. However, if you came from Animal Crossing or GTA background, yea, it would feel very difficult. And in the current ecosystem where Souls games have been around since 2009 and there are now many souls clones out there, Nioh isn't all that difficult. Especially when the Nioh games give you so many crutches to use. I'm still surprised people will summon you into missions in Nioh 2 and just let you clear the stage for them while they sit back and shoot arrows or throw bombs.

        >Nioh was not that difficult if you come from a Souls background
the majority of players are DS fanboys and they suck at playing action RPGs that aren't DS
they can not fathom that you can do so much more with gameplay than just dodge attacks and counter attack, have you seen how DS fanboys even play nioh? pathetic
        >fighting games background.
this is such a wide term i won't even go into it, let's ignore this part of the post

The fanbase already enjoys the game enough to buy other games they make. They don't have to keep the same IP over and over again but they can implement their style and improve on their systems in new IPs.

Nioh needs a break. It's not like there isn't enough content to sink into for thousands of hours especially if you play with friends and everyone can play high level.

I absolutely love Nioh and would have no problem with a Nioh 3 if they had made it right away but I can understand them wanting to do another game or two before they make another Nioh. They'd need a new setting since they covered all of the Sengoku era and I think they kind of pushed the system as it is now to it's limits. Yokai skills were a great addition and while I'm mixed on burst counters a lot of people liked them. Also given the really quick develop of 2 I'd like to see what they could do with 3 if they were given more time to develop. There's still room for them to improve level design and more new enemies to be introduced with each stage.

A third game would have to involve other countries I think. Or just be a Nioh-esque game in a different setting entirely, like an R3K one.

I still like the idea of it being centered around Gaelic lore. That's a relatively fresh setting.

What don't you like about the level design?

        Anonymous

I mean the levels are fine in themselves in terms of progression/shortcuts/connectedness but the stages are often boring visually. The downside of feudal Japan setting with a mostly realistic visual design is that there's very few environments you can do: castles (burning castles), battlefields, forests, villages. I wish they'd go a bit more fantasy or just go outside the box, a stage like Byodoin was a good example of something they could do more of.

          Anonymous

Yea it seems like most people who complain about the level design just don't like the setting. They are completely different things. Or just the people who want it to be a big connected world like Souls. I guess I didn't mind it because I love the setting. Generally speaking I love the levels in both 1 and 2. I'm one of the people that liked the story in 1 much more than 2 as well. I realize I'm in the minority though.

The only reason they made Nioh 1/2 was to build an engine they can copy and paste for every future game they develop in a third of the time like strangers of paradise, for example.

You know it true, don't deny it.

Actually, I assume SiP was one reason why Nioh 2 took 3 years to release after Nioh 1. I wouldn't be surprised if SE and TN started SiP before Nioh 2 launched.

They already made two great games back to back
People have been waiting ages for a NG4
DOA is practically dead and just a gacha now
I think new IP or a new NG should be their priority, they are talented devs that overcame some adversity with shit like vanilla NG3 and came out on top.

    Don't care.
    Make new IPs.
Nioh 2 is great and just milking it for the sake of it will just end up being a worse game than 2.
They should only make Nioh 3 when they have interesting new ideas.
Besides, Final Fantasy CHAOS is already Nioh 3: Final Fantasy edition.

What I really would have loved while we're waiting for Nioh 3 is one more round of dlc. Bring over the rest of the Nioh 1 bosses/areas to 2, add them to the Underworld, add some new graces, another type or game mode etc
