Nothing makes me feel more out of touch with the "gaming community" than people asking for and celebrating remakes/remasters of games that are perfectly playable.

Am I the only one who's more interested in playing NEW things rather than the same stuff over and over again?

The thing that's more fricked up is remakes ARENT the same thing. The share a title and that's it, they look and play extremely different.

As far as "game preservation", I would absolutely love it if every game was ported to modern consoles so I can stop keeping 12 consoles kicking around. I dont have a problem with games not being unavailable, I have a problem with entirely new games being built using the same title and passed off as such.

Most people don't take emulation or even the market for earlier consoles into account. Some people don't even take PC ports into account. That said, when a team has a real vision to properly improve on a game, that can be great, as rare as that is. The Ninja Warriors Once Again and Kirby RtDL Deluxe are both strict upgrades for example.

This too. Anybody who says this has way too narrow a scope or cannot find joy in anything for some personal reason. Even in terms of modern releases, you can definitely find good stuff with a bit of searching.

Those kind of people have insane Tired Gamer Syndrome. I understand where they come from but 99% of the time it's the anon absolutely refusing to branch out of his comfort zone and try newer stuff or even just not playing FOTM garbage

How do you get over tired gaming syndrome? Like hell man I got a few hours before and after work but there's something in my soul that compells me to crawl into bed as opposed to doing anything else. Even more than eating and drinking at times

Start exercising regularly, it helps with low energy after a while. Take a short break from games for a while and pursue some other hobbies that aren't shitposting. Reading, writing, art, whatever. Then expand your horizons and play some games out of your comfort zone. Play some games you've literally never heard of, bring back some variety into your life.

              Anonymous

That's kinda the thing though. It's more like a lack of motivation. I got a bunch of games to play and emulators working, let alone other hobbies but I'm putting all of it off. I feel like I'm seeking something via social interaction, I think, which is why I'm still able to work and come here but everything else I'd rather not do.
It's not like I'm tired when I go to bed either. I got insomnia, so it's a lot of laying in darkness listening to white noise and there's something inside me that'd still rather do that than red the books I have, work on my models, go to the range, clean the house, hell clean myself, ect.
I can't be fricked but recognize that's extremely unhealthy while also not knowing how to stop this desire

              Appreciate the reply tho

I understood you lol, im just tired and not making too much sense. 91 years ago movies just started getting good, invisible man, king kong, and frankenstein all came out and only 7 years later wizard of oz and gone with the wind would change the world, but somebody who exclusively watches the latest trending show on twittertok will never bother to watch or understand anything like this.

I have a feeling much of the remake market isn't seeking out games for the quality of the games themselves but for the 'community'
There is nothing to be gained by playing Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube because nobody will be talking about it, which is why the remake is necessary
After playing the remake, they won't be earnestly interested in the Franchise and go play 5 - not until the 5 remake, when they can talk about something popular again

sorry i posted a cheap imitation. heres the original. the story of it rocks, Francisco Goya was a spanish painter in the 1800's and he painted this and 13 other hauting paintings on the walls of his fricking house. the 14 paintings are known as the black paintings. Sometimes it's great to get a remaster or re release of a game. There's shit like MGS4 that is trapped on its platform and will probably never get made again.
Remakes are shit though we don't need them unless they're just an objective improvement like fixing Odin Sphere's clunkier systems. Unfortunately usually what happens is they try to fix a game that didn't need fixing.

  8. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

    Eh, let them have it.
Back in the ps3 era, remakes where awesome. You got 3 to 5 games for the price pf one. Now you get 1 for the price of 1.2 games.
But I also cant get angry with them.
I'm fine with playing the older games, and in cases like dead space, the originals can be had for 1/10th of the price.

yeah I don't get it either

the worst thing is they're often games from gen 6 which are easily the ones that have aged the best, if they were games remade from the early days of 3D like the first tomb raider or megaman legends or some shit I could understand but what's the point of remaking silent hill 2

They are invaders. They cheer and celebrate because they finally have an excuse to get into a thing they missed out on (because they wouldn't be caught dead playing old games). They cannot stand the idea that there is something with a sizable audience that they are not a part of, so either it must be destroyed or it must be re-released for "modern audiences" so they can be "in" again.
