DA:O is a great example of how to pull inspiration from different works without actually ripping anything off. Playing it years later after reading some fantasy series gives me a newfound appreciation for how much the original writers cared for the genre. In comparison, Inquisition feels like it was written by people who cant read.
>moronic king leads most of his troops in a trap >abandons him saving half the troops and getting rid of moronic ruler so they actually have a chance to withstand blight later on.
There was no "trap", Wardens had a chance of stopping the horde for some time if Loghain flanked the Darkspawn with his troops. >they actually have a chance to withstand blight later on.
Yeah, that's why he locks himself and his troops in the Capital, ignores the Blight, sends assassins to kill the Warden and keeps screeching about everyone trying to take away his crown.
Face it, Loghain is a petty homosexual, a good tactician, but still a homosexual. He betrayed Cailan because of the treaty between Orlais and Ferelden the King managed to forge. It's that simple. Orlais wanted to send their troops to aid against the Blight and Loghain was too paranoid and spastic to accept that so he kills his king.
>wrong
About the blight yes. >schizo
No, all his decisions were sane if reckless. >loses
Yes. But through his actions he did actually end up saving Ferelden from being taken over by the French homosexuals again. >dies
Don't we all, >/pol/'s hero
Yes, he's a based nationalist.
>No, all his decisions were sane if reckless. >letting howe murder 30% of all influential nobles and take their land, giving howe an absurd amount of influence >sane
Somebody has got to do the dirt and purge your political enemies. It's convenient there was this psycopath petty noble looking to improve his standing and as such was invested in your regime's success.
>grey wardens >a hugely important and influential content spanning group who serve a world-saving function
By that point the wardens had regressed into some obscure cultish order full of rapists and murderers that messed with the justice system and leeched money from the governments of the world.
And of course nobody actually knew they were required for killing the arch-demon. >paranoid >about Orlais
If anything he was spot on, it's revealed in both Inquisition and the DLC for Origins.
>purge your political enemies
Howe was kidnapping random nobles from all factions, targeting templars(attacking the church in the middle of a civil war in the middle of an apocalypse is moronic), and even went so far as to plan killing the queen, loghains only actual claim to the throne. Additionally howe was in control of highever, amaranthine, and denerim. He had more power than loghain
>Lets Howe murder nobility (who he needs to be king) because ??? >Basically declares war on the grey wardens a hugely important and influential content spanning group who serve a world-saving function >Has a paranoid autistic meltdown about Orlais, ends up damaging the country more than they ever did >Ignores a BLIGHT
Nah anon's right he was a moron and a loser, make's sense /misc/ loves him.
If you're talking about the Couslands Logain had them killed because Bryce would have had a better claim to be regent than the farmer
It's crazy just how much more relevant Human Noble is compared to every other origin.
>>Lets Howe murder nobility (who he needs to be king) because ???
Who says that the nobility that Howe removed would have supported him?
>>Basically declares war on the grey wardens a hugely important and influential content spanning group who serve a world-saving function
At this point the Grey Wardens had largely fallen into a mythic state, i.e nobody knows why Grey Wardens are necessary besides the senior members of the order. So, kill two birds with one stone, you get a scapegoat, with none of the pesky arguments since they're all dead post-ostagar.
>>Has a paranoid autistic meltdown about Orlais, ends up damaging the country more than they ever did >Hmmmmm I wonder if we should be worried about the country that kept us under bondage massing their armies at our border... >Nah, they have to have only good intentions! Yes yes the letters to the queen, but Loghain was not privy to them since, hey, Cailan is basically betraying him on both a national and personal level by courting the fricking Orlesian's
>>Ignores a BLIGHT
There was zero evidence that it was a true blight

What happened in the DLC? Or do you mean the Return to Ostagar letters?
I recruit him every time and then send Hawke to their death in Inquisition, leaving him as one of the most high ranking and experienced of the Wardens. To my shame I read the novels as a teenager. He's not the monster the game makes him out to be.
>I read the novels
Why would you do that to yourself? I swear the one about alistairs real mom is worse than most low quality self insert fanfics, I can’t believe they made it canon
Spoilers incoming
I can’t stand how they retconned alistairs mom into >orlesian elf mage grey warden who duncan and the king simp for >super special, only warden to get cured from having the blight >rejoins the circle for some reason, can’t raise her son because reasons >becomes a senior enchanter and pushes for mage templar war, starts war despite losing vote to end the circle >sells all her mages and redcliff(who sheltered and protected them) into slavery to tevinter >somehow stays the leader of the mages if you recruit them >has the audacity to complain about being conscripted after getting her people exiled from ferelden >starts another mage templar war if anyone besides leliana is the new pope

That's Shitquisition for you.
Is that the same Bianca from DA:O? She was also a prodigy inventor.
I liked the one about the Wardens in the 3rd or 4th blight. All of them dropping like flies with the few that remain at the heading down to the deep roads because the taint has fricked them up really emphasised what the order is all about, and what a blight should look like.
I want a DA game about the wardens when there are more than two of them and I want your companions to die a lot and be replaced with new companions that also die.
The one with Duncan in the Deeproads was alright too.
what a shit fricking game. why is Ganker so nostalgic about it? Mask Of The Betrayer was great. Fallouts, Arcanum and Infinity engine games by Obsidian were great. PST was exquisite.
DAO was just trash. No quality at all. Yet dipshits with no taste keep making threads about it.
>rent this game as a kid after my friend showed me the trailer >expected some generic action game >ended up being the greatest RPG experience of my life
I only had a week to beat it and barely did it in time. Frick I wish I could go back.
Man, DA was a blast, I should replay it some time.
Lol i look just like mograine, mentally scarred bitter and sleep deprived
Loghain * FRICK

By joining the wardens
>decides to sacrifice Ferelden to the Darkspawn because of his seething hatred for efferminate men
brilliant, Machiavellian
>it's cool, bro. that king was a gay.

loghain did evertyhing right.
And then he spent all his efforts autistically hunting grey wardens instead of dealing with the blight.
There was no "trap", Wardens had a chance of stopping the horde for some time if Loghain flanked the Darkspawn with his troops.

better die as a proud Nord than sucking Thalmor wiener for the rest of your days, just saying. not expect imperial cuck like you to understand though.
>better die as a proud Nord
>proud
Right, that's why he fricking runs from the battlefield and hides in the Royal Palace.
He's not hiding, he just killed the fricking king he needs to make sure the nobles of the country recognize his rule.

Dragon Age 2 dlc

what? wasn't she some random maid in the castle?
I had really, really low standards for fantasy as a teen. At the time I kind of enjoyed them.
I liked the one about the Wardens in the 3rd or 4th blight. All of them dropping like flies with the few that remain at the heading down to the deep roads because the taint has fricked them up really emphasised what the order is all about, and what a blight should look like.

I still want a figure of Cailan because I love the design of that heavy armor tbh
If only DA2 and 3 were good
I don't think DA3 was bad
This bait deserved more (You)s.
Wrong about the Blight
Right as frick about the Orlesians
same to you
*executes him*
DA:O filters me by how fugly all the armors and weapons are.
what a shit fricking game. why is Ganker so nostalgic about it? Mask Of The Betrayer was great. Fallouts, Arcanum and Infinity engine games by Obsidian were great. PST was exquisite.
DAO was just trash. No quality at all. Yet dipshits with no taste keep making threads about it.
Keep seething, buddy. DA:O is a great RPG and the last good Bioware game.
>seething
how about you play better games instead of projecting?
Babby's first cRPG, also Biodrones simply refuse to die out

It sad inquisition and 2 couldn’t recreate this but inquisition and it’s dlc was still pretty good on its own
