Now that I can afford VR, nobody cares about it anymore. Nobody is making new games for it. Nobody is even producing new hardware.
What a shame.

it was all artificial forced growth, it was always a gimmick. vr sucks
hopefully gay xbox goes for the snoy throat following the activision buy and makes a branded, cheap vr to compete
this is my only hope for getting more vr games in the near future
Maybe try actually watching some VR channels on Youtube before assuming "it's dead because Ganker isn't talking about it." 90% of people here are too poor to afford video games unless they're pirating or physically borrowing them.
vr is and will always be a porn platform. if you're not interested in vr porn then there's no point.
>software not listed
I'm trying to invent long jumping and I'm being completely overlooked
VR has been dead since Alyx, and it was basically dead before then too.
The only value of VR is in sims. It's pretty nice to drive around for an hour or two in a virtual car with a full on rig setup. VR games? Wagglan junk.
Alyx is mid.
Make your own vr game/s.
Not OP but planning on it, I just need to actually learn code among other things.
do not whine you moron
install hl2 vr mod and play
Get a PSVR2. It's the only headset getting new games.
I got a quest when they were 250 bucks and I think thats the most you can reasonably spend on vr
Its fun as a mini arcade device but just like an arcade game the novelty wears off
I'm glad I got mine as a fun cheap go-to for motion control games.
Half life alyx and vr mods for other half life games were great and a few indie titles have been fun
The problem is that after 30 mins you just wish you could play the game normally and the vr doesnt add anything new
>I bought the worst headset and played mostly junk, therefore VR is bad.
The quest is hardly the worst headset on the market. I'd put it above psvr2 and literal cardboard, but below exclusive pcvr headsets.
>1440 × 1600
>display compression and latency when connected to PC
>mobile phone cpu when not connected to PC
Name something worse?
>1440 × 1600
?
Surely he meant the quest 2. The first one wasn't pc compatible to my knowledge
Yeah it is. Same as Q2.
I don't know what being retarded feels like. I see it's been something you enjoy. What's it like?
>I don't know what being retarded feels like
Talk to your tard handler then, she'll be able to explain it to you. Very slowly.
I don't give a shit about frame rate or resolution, and I want the battery to last longer.
You're calling me a retard when the post said Quest and not Quest 2. You posted your Quest2 image running at near half its regular running spec while connected to PC. Do you have a dogshit PC by any chance? Are you struggling to run your Quest 2? ha ha
>Same as Q2.
>I don't know what being retarded feels like.
Peak comedy, the thing about being stupid is that sometimes you're too stupid to even realize it about yourself.
I actually thought you were posting seriously for a second and replied to you, damn.
>How do you connect Quest to PC?
>same as Quest 2. With Oculus link cable
>you're retarded. ha ha ha
How do you do it then third worlder?
For some reason I thought you were talking about the quest 2, people tend to blatantly lie in these threads when it comes to whatever headset they don't use.
As far as what it's better than, that's actual better visual clarity than the index given it has the same res spread over smaller fov, better than the vive, rift, rift s, psvr1.
There are still people who swear by the original rift, and plenty of people swear by the index, so that resolution is certainly better for clarity than what a lot of people recommend, it's not great though.
Do you enjoy being retarded?
Why is your render target set to 72hz 70%?
>anything less than 90hz recommended
What the hell were they smoking when they decided that?
it gets recommended based on system power.
Like when you install a new game and it scans your PC and sets everything to high or ultra etc
>>I bought the worst headset
120hz and better resolution than 90% of the market. The quest isnt nearly as bad as anti-facebook people make it out to be
Compared to the cv1 that I used to play with, its lightyears ahead
>therefore VR is bad.
didnt say that, I said its a fine arcade-like experience
> played mostly junk
I've played pretty much every popular vr title
vtol, into the radius, pavlov, asseto corsa, hl: alyx etc
VR is fine, but its only worth 200 bucks or so for what the experience gives. And the software is grossly overpriced
Quest aside, are you not anti-facebook? What's wrong with you?
stop responding to retards
>after 30 mins you just wish you could play the game normally
This. 30 minutes into sex I just want to go back to texting
unironically, 10-15 minute sex is the sweetspot
30 minutes is too long and probably indicative of a health problem
This post isn't inflammatory so I think it's honest and not trolling
I played alyx for hours at a time, it became a problem that I wanted to play but couldn't because my feet hurt on hardwood. I still think flat games are very fun and all, but I would probably never prefer them to be flat.
So which of us is closer to the average person?
something tells me you aren't actually interested in vr
I got VR thinking I'd be playing all kinds of games in it, yet all I do is hang with friends in VRC. Games? I just end up playing games in VRC. Movies? Movie worlds. Only other VR game I've played is HL2 vr mod.
I wanted to play more games, like Project Wingman, but the problem is that they don't work with the controllers. You have to use a stick and/or mkb for a lot of "vr compatible" games, which gets annoying when you can't see what you're interacting with.
I've had the opposite experience, I got VR for vrc found it disappointing and ended up finding myself liking games more.
haven't touched vr in more than a year, and probably never will again, but was worth the money
I enjoy VR but fuck meta & sony for gatekeeping games onto their limited hardware and gays defending it even though its killing off interest even faster by making people have to go out and buy multiple headsets
This thread is riveting. Someone is bluffing about their quest vs quest 2 knowledge level and they are about to be humiliated and never return
There's a personality trait for the average Quest 2 owners. They're like a mixture of vegans, linux/apple users, AMD owners and trannies all mixed together and allowed internet access. It's really weird.
They're talking about you, you clueless smooth brained gay.
See. I rest my case. Screechy little chud Quest 2 owner.
The best VR stuff isn't actually the games, it's the porn (skyvr media server and etoretro, i've looked deep in the eyes of so many girls being dicked) and the actual virtual movie experiences, like the Soda Island VR film series. I actually think the Soda Island series of films is the best VR experience I ever had.
What was really fun was during Covid, both VRchat and actually even better, Altspace. Altspace literally had full nightclubs, with famous DJ's playing, Burning Man held their Burning Man for 2020 in it.
This shit was a mental health life saver during Covid.

Sony and Apple are the only ones who matter in the space
I am still pissed off that Rail shooters didn't make a comeback thanks to VR, I thought for sure they would have.
Imagine if a new House of the dead or Time crisis were made in full VR, and still played almost exactly like they did in the past in arcades.
But nope, Nearly every single VR Shooter falls into one or multiple of these catagories
>multiplayer only
>'realistic' simulator of reloading of guns even when just putting the clips/whatever in the gun would be better for the game
>stationary boring shooting gallery which doesn't come close to the chaotic fun that was Old Arcade Shooters
if Dolphin gets a VR port, maybe you will be able to play House of the Dead overkill in it.
>Imagine if a new House of the dead or Time crisis were made in full VR, and still played almost exactly like they did in the past in arcades.
So? Also you could make this with mods btw
>stationary boring shooting gallery which doesn't come close to the chaotic fun that was Old Arcade Shooters
What? Just explain this again before I shit on you for it
Crisis brigade 2 for time crisis clone. You can do the house of dead remake using virtual desktop and the laser mouse like a light gun. Plus there's emuvr which is free and let's you emulate all those old light gun games (haven't gotten it to work myself tho). Drop dead was a good vr rail shooter
>Imagine if a new House of the dead or Time crisis were made in full VR,
>Imagine if a new House of the dead or Time crisis were made in full VR, and still played almost exactly like they did in the past in arcades.
Dreadful. Stop worshipping retarded limitations.

Repost
It's not dead, it's just slowed down but there are still games coming out. Everyone on here will just keep calling it a meme and a gimmick and saying it's dead, yet I've waiting for it to die for years and that hasn't happened. If i had a nickle for every time Ganker said VR was dead then I'd be a rich man.
All the best shit is in vr mods. But I'm mostly waiting for the praydog mod. Praydog mod decodes what my next upgrade. If it's a need hmd, gpu or like vr treadmill/Sim chair
I got a treadmill on the way in shipping right now. Katwalk C2+, that's my next upgrade for now. Walking is more important to immersion for me.
Can these threads go 2 posts without some sort of consolewar idiocy?
I'm just waiting for deckard.
Companies like Facebook and Sony trying to force platform console war exclusivity bullshit on it has done enormous amounts of damage to the point where it might not ever recover.
I use VRChat regularly to hang out with my friends since we all live far apart these days and it's pretty comfy, VR party games are a lot of fun and are absolutely the highlight of it.
Originally I thought that HL:Alyx was the peak of singleplayer VR games and that nothing could even come near it, but then HL2 VR mod comes out and proves that VR games are easy to make the devs just have to not be retarded and actually put effort in to it.
>the devs just have to not be retarded and actually put effort in to it.
This is unfortunate since a lot of them aren't, and certainly aren't going to put effort into VR when it's considered a meme and has a smaller market than consoles.
Hell, even consoles aren't exactly getting much competent work done on games.
It's devs gatekeeping real games over simulator sickness. I remember how long it took just to get analog sticks on vr controllers when they should've been there from the start.
>Companies like Facebook and Sony trying to force platform console war exclusivity bullshit
Are you talking about them releasing games for only their system, or not allowing certain games to run on their system? If the latter that is not true in the case of the quest headset. I assume it would be for the psvr2 since it's a glorified ps5 addon.
just use head tracking/eye tracking instead
Everything slows down for a while then picks up again when a new headset comes out. This is not new. VR has "died" multiple times already. You pessemists ignore long term trends and take any downturn as the end
PSVR2 literally just came out
Has anyone used a Quest Pro?
I used a quest pro with a 4090. It was like a wii was strapped to my face. VR is dead I'm waiting for full dive, etc
There's no point in asking that here
Anon, for a parody post you could at least put a little effort into it.
I can feel how dead you are just reading this, it's painful.
I was taking a shit at the time sensei
Just the man I want to talk to then.
What about black levels?
Any noticeable latency when connected to PC?
Any hoop jumping when connecting to PC or is it plug and play like if I was connecting a regular SteamVR or WMR headset?
Reminder that Vertigo 2 is releasing in 13 days and there is a free demo up on the Steam page. If you haven't played Vertigo remastered yet then you should play that game. Far too few people played it on here.
I have my eye on it.
VR is best for sims like ping pong, racing, and PORN
>VR is best for sims
VR is best for first person shooters. It just needs more developers making games.
I think FPS just have the most basic conversion to VR, I think it could be really good for rts and turn based tactics games too, maybe even stuff like total war.
You can be up high and move units around like literal pawns on a chessboard or zoom down to get a really immersive view of the battlefield and really take in what it feels like to be on your front line, people already do this with games like that it'd just be better in VR.
Also good for horror games.
I think we just haven't seen many types of games try to accommodate or use VR in very smart ways yet.
maybe if I owned a gigantic empty amazon-tier warehouse
hate the whole hopping mechanic it feels like such cope
>hopping mechanic
Just use analog sticks to move
>analog sticks
for me thats just nauseous cope...
there's natural locomotion
there's a playspace mover too
Imagine not having a VR headset in 2020+1+2
Im waiting for Index level headsets to be wireless, fuck that wired bullshit
why not just dip your toes with a $250 quest 2?
He may as well wait for a 3 if he wants higher quality.
i have a quest 2 and a capable router and i still use the USB connection for PCVR, it charges the headset while i play. I don't have any wireless devices at all, i get autistic as fuck about battery levels and can't relax knowing that shit is going to run out sooner or later.
I love walkabout mini golf, you can even play the DLC maps if you play with someone who has the DLC
>Facebook ruined VR's software potential by buying up every single goddamn VR developer and having them make fuckall
I hope they go under and Valve makes a better headset and we get another chance at PCVR making a comeback
I genuinely feel bad for anyone who hasn't played Alyx.
thanks for reminding me bro will pirate it tonight
i pirated it too as soon as i got the Quest 2, it's fucking great.
Is there a Hogwarts Legacy mod yet?
yes, check flat2vr twiter
