Now that Metroid has been saved, how do we make the other two unsuccessful Nintendo sci-fi franchises relevant again?

    >Make an actual Star Fox sequel instead of rebooting it for the umpteenth time
    >Give GX the Xenoblade DE treatment and straight port it with touched up visuals and soundtrack, some new content, and online play

Star fox is beyond salvation. Nintendo keeps fricking up what should be an easy task, make a rail shooter. Don't add stupid shit, just make a rail shooter. If they are so out of ideas they can just fully remake starfox snes and that would be enough.

As for f-zero, well just release a game? No f-zero game has failed, it's just nintendo refusing to make them for whatever reason.

I disagree. Metroid managed to survive the brevity of its gameplay simply because it's been so long since the story was continued. Star Fox is always much shorter. I need to be heavily altered to grab the attention span of the modern audience considered to be a respectable run time.

starfox needs to lean in more into it's inspiration of cheesy/campy sci-fi from old kids shows, where f-zero needs to lean into it's comic book inspired 90's x-men like stuff where it's a little edgy but still has a positive message

they wouldn't work doing sci-fi horror like metroid so they need to cater to different aspects of sci-fi

I know people have been meming on
    >Dread is 3 hours long
but Star Fox unironically really could do with a longer game. They're like an hour long even on a first playthrough.

starfox needs to stop the stages and try doing something really out there, like an open world thing on a single massive planet to take down a single army of some sort, go crazy with it.

Dread took me 10 hours to complete and i didn't even 100%, no idea why people still meme the time to complete when almost any game can be speedruned to 3-1 hour

they need to understand that not every game needs to be a big budget game priced at $60
make a short, highly replayable, traditional starfox game with online elements and charge $40 for it. if it does well, maybe expand on it with dlc
f-zero should take after tetris 99 and be a free to play, online multiplayer only, death race mode. if it does well, give it its own dlc that adds in single-player modes. sort of like the big-block dlc for tetris 99

They tried to save Star Fox, but they gave senile dumbass Miyamoto creative direction, and he tried to throw as many damn console gimmicks at the game as possible... resulting in one of the series' worst flops. Star Fox is probably gonna stay dead for a long time. F-Zero shows no signs of returning, either.

      >The problem with F-Zero is cannibalism
No, the problem with F-Zero is that the F-Zero GP Anime and subsequent games bombed hard in the west killing the franchise. Mario Kart has nothing to do with anything.

Star Fox 64 and F-Zero (SNES) sold more than any Shitroid game. Both franchises could easily be saved, the market is there.

The problem with F-Zero is cannibalism. Mario Kart was an astonishing success, a single Mario Kart game sold more than the entire Star Fox, F-Zero and Metroid franchises. There's no point in making F-Zero when Mario Kart exists.

As for Star Fox, they should go with a Splatoon approach. Multiplayer was always the highlight of Star Fox 64.

Nintendo just isn't good when it comes to sci-fi since most of their stuff is inspired by walt disney's animation which is very fantasy/fairy tale inspired stuff with metroid being the exception and not the rule, they need to look at sci-fi stuff for inspiration more to gain a better understanding of the genre that isn't just horror or kaiju films

4 on 4 multiplayer with aerial battles with rotating maps on different planets and semi customizable ships using the splatoon format sounds like it'd be a great idea

      >There's no point in making F-Zero when Mario Kart exists.
A new F-Zero title would not cannibalize the absurd sales that MK8 Deluxe still has going for it.

      >There's no point in making F-Zero when Mario Kart exists.
That makes no sense, especially considering that F-Zero has a very different market than Mario Kart. If we went by that logic then we wouldn't have gotten a new DKC, Yoshi or Kirby game because Mario platformers sell way more than both of those series.

Like with Metroid, give Star Fox and F-Zero to dev teams who know what to do with the series. Then give them the actual funding and freedom to do it.
No Miyamoto BS with Star Fox. No forced innovation with F-Zero. Just give them to dev teams who 'get' what the series is and let them go wild with it.

    Star Fox
    >basically turn it into Mass Effect: Furry Edition, even right down to a character creator
    >plot is something like Fox has gone missing, and Falco is defying orders from a conflicted Peppy to go save him. Pulls together a ragtag team of himself, Kat, Miyu, and the rookie (the player) to save him. Slippy is there too for maintenance and helping R.O.B. pilot the Great Fox.
    >still have a ton of space combat, but also have ground combat too
    >can recruit characters, both old and new, to pad out the roster until we save Fox and give him his captain's seat back, and then go after the greater threat
    >doesn't need to go as far as romance options, but do create bonds between player and the crew members
    >add a full online vs mode for maximum replay value, all characters playable

    >also, create a spin-off prequel to it which is the more traditional arcade style Star Fox which tells the story of the mission that led to Fox's capture, to appease the 64 babies who cry any time the series tries something different

    F-Zero
    >just literally do F-Zero GX and more of it. Hell, you could just start with a HD remake of GX and that alone will be a good starting point.

Why not just model new Star Fox games after Assault? They could improve on it's flaws and we'd end up with a fun Star Fox game with variety in it's gameplay.

This. Give the on-foot sections Splatoon controls and just make it a longer game, and I don't mean longer missions. I'm talking about more missions.

One thing I'd like to see be done with Star Fox is experimentation with co-op play and multiple characters. Star Fox 2 and Command are the only games that dabble with playable characters in the campaign, and Starlink is the closest thing to a co-op Star Fox experience. The Wii U Gamepad could've been a good vehicle for a co-op Star Fox game, but they didn't go with it, for some reason.
