Now that the dust has settled and Starfield is a massive disappointment, what are some good space games that went under the radar all these years?

Laying in bed and closing your eyes and pretending you’re on a space journey as you fall asleep.
Absolutely based. Been doing this every night for a decade. Starfield was disappointing because it can never compare to my imagination.
THE ETERNAL ZOOMER FILTERING
Morrowind has a world map, a local map and a mini map
You're comparing MorroGOD to StarSHIT???
Kotor blew that game away the same BG3 is doing with StarField. Outside of Skyrim, I really believe most of you overestimate Bethesda's popularity.
I can't use alteration magic to fly in Kotor. Shit game.
BG3 has too much politicoal but it might be slightly better than Starshit, I don't know.
cities today have maps
cities in the future will have maps
the only reason this game doesnt have a map is bethesda couldnt figure out how to not have maps on random planets but have them in cities
the best space games:
3: tie fighter
2: outer wilds
1: ksp
starfield doesn't make the top 10. it's worse than no man's sky (though better than it was on release)
german autism at its finest, standing strong after 6 years.
they wont play it cause these gays dont care about space sims just shit looking pretty
Starfield isn't just shit looking pretty. The planets have cycles and gravity.
x4 is a space economy simulator, anon
>gravity
A Jump/Jetpack modifier
Spacepill me on this game, why is it so good?
It was fucking garbage at launch compared to the last iterations of X3. How is it now? Does the economy run properly on its own yet? Can you ever fully wipe out a faction? Can you have an entire fleet restock automatically including its carried fighters?
yes to all of those and more
Is this better than Elite Dangerous? I played that one but the combat was atrocious.
no.
it's a completely different game.
elite is a space flight simulator, x4 is a space empire simulator.
Then what is this
ponder the scale in that video.
you can fly ship, land on random shit and explore it by foot.
but that's pretty much it, the game is more about microing your empire than doing cockpit shit.
NTA but X is to Elite what Il-2 Sturmovik is to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
German autism did 9/11, all the hijackers lived in germany
Freeespace and Freespace 2 are the best space games ever made
It's only a massive disappointment to people who haven't even played the game and people who had their expectations way too high. Like, impossibly high in relation to modern day technology high.
I have played it, and my expectations were low (well, I did expect actual spaceflight to be fair).
I am disappointed.
there goes your theory I suppose.
>Like, impossibly high in relation to modern day technology high.
True. I unironically need to stop expecting games that come out today to have features that were in games from 10 years ago. I’m saying this with complete sincerity.
There was no game like Starfield 10 years ago. Play it you fucking pos moron.
The moment I stepped a foot in Mars I saw the planet had cycles. Bethesda doesn't have the resources to let you free roam on a ship across the map while retaining so much accuracy and graphic fidelity.
You're disappointed at the game because of your low IQ, I shouldn't have to deal with this shit.
GOOD MORNING SIRS
Imagine being so triggered your only reaction is to pretend to be an Indian.
>There was no game like Starfield 10 years ago
Skyrim and fallout 3 are both more than 10 years old, you sure didn't think that one through
>Skyrim and fallout 3 are both more than 10 years old
And thus, I win this debate. Because those games were nothing like Starfield. You had no different climate, peaks of radiation, low gravity, planets with toxic atmosphere. Just one map, for the whole game.
Starfield is literally just Fallout without an overworld.
>Now that the dust has settled and Starfield is a massive disappointment
You can keep saying it, it'll never make it true.
Also, there are almost no good recent "space games" unless you play very different types of games like Outer Wilds.
X4 is the only one decent I can thinf of.
>I unironically need to stop expecting games that come out today to have features that were in games from 10 years ago.
No, you need to understand that different genre focuses on different things and stop trying to compare Starfield with games that are totally different.
"Space Games' isn't a genre. It's a setting. You can have a RPG, a RTS, a Space Sim, a Survival Crafting game, etc. in space, doesn't mean they will all allow you to do the same things.
What exactly was Starfield’s focus?
>What exactly was Starfield’s focus?
Buck Rogers interpreted by Neil moronass Tyson
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
>X4 is the only one decent I can thinf of.
Is it because it's the only game mentioned in this game with a proper picture, is it.
How convenient.
>wanting a game that actually allows me to control my ship, has worlds that aren't just flat barren wastelands with copy-pasted garbage outposts, doesn't have 2015 tier graphics, is well optimised and doesn't have constant loading screens is too much to ask in fucking 2023
WOW STARFIELD IS AMAZING BECAUSE IT HAS DAY-NIGHT CYCLES AND A INT VARIABLE FOR GRAVITY I FUCKING KNEEL WHAT A STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT
lmao cope
Your white flag will be my cumrag. I hope you know that.
I agree, if you like to play Todd boring and technically outdated themeparks, you will be happy.
evochron legacy
yeah i can second this is a really cool game. i think it's free too on steam maybe? if not it's worth getting and checking out if you like space and planet/stars/galaxy exploration. it's the prettiest space game i've seen. very nice looking graphics and no loading screens so you can do planetary landings.
this game was dead on arrival the second they decided to delay the survival mode.
it gets mogged hard by empyrion, a dogshit terrible game.
>survival mode
What?
did i stutter?
The disappointing thing is that Bethesda hasn't even tried to improve their weaknesses as a developer. In fact, Starfield is evidence they're regressing. Animations that were out of date when they started development. Clusterfuck UI design. Forgettable stories and characters. Even the music in Starfield is forgettable, which sucks to say when Inon Zur composed it. Virtually everything in Starfield has been done better by other games.
Also, they should be embarrassed that unofficial bug fix mods totalling hundreds of megabytes still exist for games they released years ago, but they're so lazy they don't even fucking care.
>The disappointing thing is that Bethesda hasn't even tried to improve their weaknesses as a developer
Yes, if you keep being dishonest and ignore all the cool stuff that was added to Starfield. For sure.
I refuse to be that person and the only thing I can tell you is to fuck off and play the game.
>all the cool stuff that was added to Starfield
Like what exactly? You have shipbuilding and making your own loading screens with photo mode, everything else is taken from other BGS games. Ouposts are FO4 settlements but somehow worse, magic space powers are just skyrim shouts. Procgenned planets with mostly nothing but rocks and the same 12 copypasted landmarks are hardly unique or innovative, so what exactly is this "cool stuff" they have added?
What "cool stuff" in Starfield constitutes an observable improvement on their weaknesses as a developer? You spoke in the plural so I'm expecting multiple examples. I'll wait.
Yep you can tell from the quality of complaints starfield filtered shitrim casuals something hard
not just a massive disappointment but a massive failure too.
this game was suppose to be a turning point for xbox so it can challenge the PS5 for sales. it hasn't.
the game was given away for free on gamepass so Microsoft can challenge steam. it hasn't.
just another entry in a long line of failures for Microsoft in the gaming industry. a corporation with no creative prowess failing in a creative industry is not a surprise either.
Everspace 2 is okay. Having to grind roguelite mode for special mods is kinda ass, though. The story isn't even that bad.
Starbound is easily the finest space game known to mankind. So good puppies couldn't handle it.
oh no no no
Since it hasn't been mentioned yet,
Avorion really deserves more praise, you start small but you can get into managing entire fleets later and build your own ship models and have your fleet use them or use them yourself, you can blow everything up if you want or not.
in combat with enemy ships you can blow off their modules and loot them and just fuck up their entire ship
Avorion is great yeah, but if you suck at building complex 3D objects then you will not enjoy the game.
>just use workshop ships
Right.
Avorion is great yeah, but if you lack the patience to filter all those shitty ships that have no armor because muh aesthetics then you will not enjoy the game.
Outer Wilds is 10/10 space game.
no such thing as a good space game
>good space games that went under the radar
Starsector is the GOAT
>under the radar
>starsector
every moron under the sun knows about starsector also it isnt a fucking space game you cunt, it is 2d, you know what space isnt? 2 fucking d
It happens in outer space you spastic
