fusion and zero mission are the only good ones after super

    yeah

I don't think anyone expected it to be as good as it was, it's easily the best 2D metroid after super and it ended up being the best selling title in the series, undeniably a success

I dunno anon. I've played zero (0) metroid games, but I've blown quite a few loads to samus, and had a large folder of pics of her. But i probably should try super metroid sometime, it seems fun.

Yes try Super it’s loved for a reason bro

I even drew that bug brain thing and the dragon on one occasion. That was pretty fun. Is it a long game? Perhaps I can dust off my vita to play it, or maybe my 3ds xl, both seem good for this game.

Probably 5-7 hours depending on how lost you get but it’s pretty easy not to get lost. Once it clicks it’ll be your favorite SNES game by far.

Yes, in the sense that there was no hype. People were surprised it existed at all, and by that point were impressed by what amounted to table scraps. Of course you can impress a starving hobo with a double cheeseburger.
Game sucked overall. Nintendo can't into game development or even production in the last 20 or so years. The only genuinely great game from Nintendo in that time frame is Wii Sports. Runner-up being Link's Crossbow Training.
Company is genuinely embarrassing. Pic related was a moron, and I ain't talkin' about Chibi.

It was great. I'd take a bit less focus on action and more on explorationand ambiance in the next one, though.

yes but only because hype was at an all time low following the shitstains fusion and other M. Well SR was decent but a remake of a game no one on SR worked on

    >dread is bad
Who honestly thinks this? Dread's only flaw is its shitty music. Its otherwise a contender for best metroid game ever made.

      >dread's only flaw is the music
dread's biggest flaw is its main gimmick, the EMMI. environment design and exploration is pretty crappy too, and I don't think there was enough new in terms of upgrades (flash shift is the only one that matters). And yes music sucked too

Nah Emmi are fun to evade

Emmi zones are kind of obnoxious on your first run because of how easy it is to get caught in one of the maze's dead ends and then you just die. Like, sorry for not having clairvoyance, game. It feels like very cheap deaths. This isn't so much an issue on repeat playthroughs but it's annoying on a first run and that sticks with you. This could have been fixed by not randomizing the parry windows, that was too much.

I mean, don't they teach you to use the phantom cloak? I never use it because I can usually get the parry timing right, but I assume for someone who can't, they'd prefer using it

              >Emmi patrols endlessly back and forth 5 feet from where you're hiding until it runs out
              >Die anyways just with extra steps
              Thanks game

It is nice to have a true Metroid game after Other M that wasn't a remake or shovelware

          >Bird homie wants to use Metroids to control the galaxy
I mean yeah, he had a different design and wasn't just a monster mash, but is that how low your standards are? He's a villain of the week, and this game took 15 years to come out.
All I'm saying is if you consistently let the most minimal effort shock you into praise, don't expect the losers behind it to challenge themselves when it's clear their only motivation is monetary. Game was a 4/10, gameplay did nothing special and the plot was aforementioned. Music was weak and the visuals were substandard.
Felt like the vidya equivalent to any number of low budget, generic straight-to-VHS 80s B action movies that have the same exact elements strung together for 70 or so minutes. Those movies you play drinking games to, betting on which the car will explode, or which boring side character will die in hilariously awful fashion.
          >Predictable
          >Middle of the Road
          >Participation Award Winner, 2021
Dread's official pull quotes, if Nintendo weren't dishonest and lazy.

          >Fed Force
Fun and varied missions, controls are the same as the rest of the Prime games, mediocre story, bad artstyle, revealed and released at the wrong time.
          >Other M
Atrocious story, shit sideways Wiimote controls, can't move while shooting missiles because no Nunchuk, pixel hunt, unskipabble hours of cutscenes, bad artstyle, came out during the peak of the franchise and killed it.

I dunno what to tell you buddy.

I'm glad I played it before it garnered more of a reputation because if I had waited until after homosexuals started hyping it up as the best Metroid since Super I would have been disappointed instead of pleasantly surprised.

      Rank the Metroids then

  11. 3 weeks ago

It was exactly what it needed to be, not a subversive or destructive redefining of the genre, but an enhancement to it, like what super(on release) was to metroid nes
the only thing I didn't like was the music, and I'm someone who didn't mind the samus returns music
I have a feeling in 20+ years, more sequence breaks will be discovered and it will be almost as well regarded to super

Dread is the best 2D Metroid.
    It has sone flaws tho:
    >The music, obviously
    >A bit too handholdy
    >The graphics use way too much black, it was probably designed with OLED in mind.

My only gripe was the soundtrack being mediocre, but everything else was pretty great. It's been a while since the release, so I might return this year for another playthrough.
I think at this point we can assume that prime 4 is developed with the next console in mind, so maybe we're going to see another 2D entry after its release.
