none of the updates are good, hardmode progression is a mistake, planterra and temple is a bandaid fix to a gaping wound, and everything about the final boss gauntlet ranges from poorly conceived to unsalvagably bad design. the game is legitimately a better experience for everyone involved if you never summon the wall of flesh.

Overall, yes. Master Mode fricking sucks and the luck mechanic is just weird, but the rest is cool.

      >hardmode progression is a mistake
But that's the best part of Terraria - killing bosses, getting loot, getting stronger and killing stronger bosses. I get liking early game more for it's exploration and building, but the focus of the game is on killing bosses.
      >planterra and temple is a bandaid fix to a gaping wound
What? Golem is a weak boss, sure, but what's their problem?
      >everything about the final boss gauntlet ranges from poorly conceived to unsalvagably bad design
If you mean Moon Lord and pillars, then the pillars are mostly alright, except the solar pillar, while the Moon Lord fight itself is good.
      >the game is legitimately a better experience for everyone involved if you never summon the wall of flesh.
For most people, from what I can guess, Terraria is fun for it's progression - you start out as a shmuck with no power and you slowly get stronger. So, hardmode is just another part of that progression.

All weapons should be auto-swing and yoyos should have their damage reduced by half.

      >All weapons should be auto-swing
      Yes
      >yoyos should have their damage reduced by half.
Why? They're alright, but not that good.

At some point a smarter moron than you may have stopped and wondered why the title of the game is Terraria, but I suppose your heartfelt certainty has a charm of its own.

You do know that to progress you have to kill bosses... right? That's the only thing in the game that you are forced to do, so, is it wrong to say that the main point of the game is to kill bosses?
I assume it's called Terraria simply because you are looking at 2D plane with biomes and creatures in it. I doubt there's more to it, but I don't know, I've never thought about the name of the game that much in the 1.5k hours I put in it.

The builders mode is a godsend, especially with turning off spawn rates and speeding up time to grow stuff that only spawns naturally. The last two bosses they added are pretty fun too.

The happiness system is by far the worst addition.

I liked it, I'm currently waiting for Thorium to support 1.4 to do a playthrough of that.

1.4 brought a lot of bad shit and a lot of good shit in equal amounts, is pretty conflicting because every update was only good shit until 1.4.

I think journey mode far outweighs the bad tho, it truly makes the game play in a way fit specifically for you, like, I'm used to play in expert, but also want to get the master mode only items, however master mode is fricking cancerous so I can simply enable it when I fight a boss, beat it fair and square on master then go back to expert, it makes building shit way more comfortable and not resource limited and finally it allows me to stop corruption spread entirely.

I never understood the fascination of this game. I didn't "get" it. Im not the biggest minecraft fan either but i get the love for it.
This was just odd to me, though i played starbound first and enjoyed the gameplay much more even if the story was poor

Terraria is one of those games that are less of a game and more of an experience.

You can't recreate those moments, It has to be lived.

Not really no. This update was honestly worse than most of the smaller version increments than they've done let alone the major ones.

Master Mode is unbalanced as shit but overall it was fine. Overall I can't wait for a sequel so they can finally add dimensions and revamp the combat. Classes do not fricking matter at all in this game, it's all flat damage.

It's OK. I like master mode although it's half-assed. The bosses, items and other content are decent. Happiness and pylons are dogshit and make me angery - why not just let us build a few teleporters pre-HM? Torch autism is idiotic but mostly harmless.
