Galar was significantly better than this dex. Like what in this dex is actually good? IMO Galar was like gen 6, it was mostly a bad dex with a couple of cool ones. This dex is 100% garbage.
Awful starters but meh dex. At least some feel like Pokemon unlike Alola.
Alola was the last gen of real pokemon and was better than gen 6.
Honestly, I fully believe now that having a dex that has a strong central theme and a wide pool of consistent inspirations for its Pokémon is the way to go. IMO, Alola has the best good-to-bad ratio and it's partially because it feels like a real ecosystem.
Yeah, I think Alola did the best job of any gen of contextualizing its pokemon. Part of that I think was due to the alola forms being the first of their kind and there being effort put into explaining that. It also had a more cohesive design style than gen 6, in some ways it made me like a lot of designs that I otherwise would have slept on a lot more.
I was really sad that they took the tack they did with gen 8. Alola was looking like they wanted to focus more on worldbuilding and try some new stuff. Instead we got soulless and boring open worlds.
>Honestly, I fully believe now that having a dex that has a strong central theme and a wide pool of consistent inspirations for its Pokémon is the way to go.
So, like Galar? Every single new species and Galarian form ties to the UK in some way, whether it be wildlife, history, or culture
Unrelated to your question but who organized the mons in this image and why does the actual dex have way more confusing ordering instead of doing something like this
As to why this game has a confusing order. I think that’s how their indexed into the game. Pokémon inserted into the game are ordered differently than their typical national or regional dex order.
Between making 2 games back to back within a year and having to crunch for a holiday release with a 1GB patch on launch, I genuinely think the order has narrated was the least of their concerns.
Alternatively, games are segmented from each other for the most part. The only thing that matters now is what’s in a regional dex and whether it can be transferred or not. Is there a point to a national dex order other than this is how many Pokémon we’ve made? There are evolution lines separated by numerous gens only because they got an evo appended years later. It honestly looks bad from a design perspective
Worst yet, which is impressive after Gen 8. Still some good ones like the Charcadet family, Garganacl, and that legendary snail I can't remember the name of.
Temtem was already arguably better by gen 8. Against gen 9 it's already not a contest.
I like it better than gen8 but no by much, major issues.
-some mons just dont look like pokemon (the megaman duo as an example)
-way too many lazy evos (the pawmi line as the worse offender)
-too many mons feel like they were designed with 3d first and to be as easy to animate as possible (the grasshopper evo is probably the ones who suffers the worst from this, could have been another Golisopod or Volcarona tier coolmon but its just...not good)
>some mons just dont look like pokemon (the megaman duo as an example)
If they dont look like pokemon galade and gardevoir also should be considered as not pokemonish
I'd give it overall a 6.5/10, better than I thought it was gonna be. I will say a LOT of these look better in motion or with context (like dex entries) more than any dex before it.
Better than 8 by a mile, maybe equal to 6. Gen 7 still beats it. It has a lot of weird, goofy and straight up fakemon looking designs but some of them are charming enough so I'll give them time to see if they grow on me
If I had to describe it in one word it would be, polarizing. Some designs look like dogshit, while others are some of the best in the entire franchise. Reminds me a lot of Gen 5 in that sense
Starters are a disaster, legendaries are great, paradoxes range from boring to great, some horrid woke shit, some genuinely lazy designs like dudunsparce and the pawmi line, some amazing designs like kingambit, fake convergent lines are an interesting concept but weird execution.
Art director is a woman btw which explains why so many of the designs feel like they're coming straight out some fanfiction romhack. Also many designs are suspiciously reminiscent of Clovermons.
same guy designed my favorites buzzswole, golurk, and teacup. Was it fluke he had some good designs? The rest look like he had a deadline that same night and mspainted over an animal picture.
It's likely she didn't play Pokemon when she was younger because female gamers were statistically a rarity and RPGs were considered for nerds. That alone makes her out of touch with the fanbase.
Women tend also to have a relatively low threshold for pressure and competitiveness which are dominant aspects of the corporate environment so they just tend to hastily wrap projects up with little quality control. It's a biological thing, try injecting woman-amounts of estrogen and see how you become an emotional wreck. The trannies know this all too well.
Women in sports inject roids so their personalities are overridden by the increased aggressiveness (and then they becone even worse emotional wrecks during the post-cycle) and as for the military 99% of them are placed in low-risk and low-combat roles.
You're not going to employ a woman in high-profile missions that involve being stuck with a team of men in some shithole for weeks.
PMS is real and kills their productivity for a week each month, this is why we have a wage gap. For all intents and purposes in the work environment a woman is 75% of a man.
I like most of them so I guess...
Its good.
Solid legendaries, solid starters(finally) and even random mons seem fun.
There is no design I would call boring
I like the two legends, and all of the past/future forms. But most of the new dex, I don't know feels weird? I can't quite place a theme or trend like with Regions.
I like it. Honestly I mostly enjoy the fact it feels like the first real dex in many generations. After having new dexes of 72 and then 88, it feels good to finally have over 100 new mons. Some of which are absolute stinkers and some of which are top tier designs. Overall there are more mons I like than dislike, even if this generation does have my new least favorite Pokemon and absolutely ruined the one Pokemon I was wanted the most, I'm still overall positive.
IN SIMPLE WORDS;
you love them if you open your mind, they are not that bad, just ugly as shit
but if you wanted quality designs from gen 7&8 then it's garbage tier at best
Some designs that I really like others than I dislike.
My main complaint are that the future mons are very uninspired, most of them are just a metallic carbon copy of the original. Meowscaradda is probably the most corporate pokemon yet. It copied most of the design choices that made Cinderace popular and goes as far as having an identical ability and a similar stat distribution. As a grassgay AND a pokefricker, I'm most likely the prime target for that kind of design but all I'm saying when looking at that mon is a bunch of executives ticking boxes.
This with the grass starter and even gen 8s trashrabbit was a shameless attempt at ripping off Greninja’s popularity so by default, I’m obligated to hate it. Whats even worse is that gamefreak couldn’t even be asked to do something different to distinguish them from the frog and instead made trashrabbit and weedcats stat distribution almost the same as the frog in structure. The rabbits other signature move worthless as its not designed as a defensive mon or has the bulk to actually take advantage of the move and the cats primary type is known to be a great in the utility department but its stat distribution just makes it a hyper offensive glass cannon so barely anyone will actually try for a utility build.
I really like it! We've got more than 100 new pkmn. And the way they choose designs is so fricking weird I love it (Kamen Rider, Minecraft, tumbleweed, Amy Rose, cheese mascot, more dunsparces, Superman, mouse funko pops, pokemon but ROBOTS...)
There's some good ones - I think the primeape evolution is good, I actually like the olive tree and the legendaries...
But then you have shit like the engine which I think is the dumbest design since the icecream the cricket/chainsawman hybrid which is even stupider than the engine and the entire plethora of "ARK: Genesis" robot pokemon which just look so fricking stupid and out of place.
There's not as many truly awful designs as there has been in the last couple of gens, but...most of the dex is just middle of the road bullshit. Who are the standouts? Annihilape, Cetitan and Clodsire are good. All of the Legends are good. That's about it.
Their okey, the ones that I think are complete shit are generally the mons that are way too round or look like they were designed for plushies like Belibolt. outside of Fuicoco, not a fan of the other two starter lines especially sprigs as it’s basically another rip off of Greninja that does nothing with protean that distinguishes it from the frog or Trashrabbit in playstyle (a shame as well as They had way more potential than the galar starters ever did). But I still need to see some of these mons in motion to get a better judgement on them.
It's ok. Some I like design or concept-wise, the rest I'm indifferent until I actually get my hands on them.
Paradoxmons I'm unsure on, they're not original like UBs at least were, and not regional variants either so it depends a lot on how they're integrated into the world and game.
Favorites at the moment have to be Baxcalibur and dolphin fricker.
It's the first time ever that I've not only hated the majority of the dex, but found them repulsive. Also the first time I've hated the entire starter trio's final evos.
I genuinely don't understand how people say Gen 8's was still worse. The bad ones would fit in with this dex, but there were a lot more good ones.
Yeah, I only like the Sprig line, the worm, the engines, the fish legend, Koraidon and Clodsire. Though I hate shinies, always found them afterthoughts with wasted opportunitues.
Easily the worst dex yet. Not only are the majority of designs bad but most of them barely have any coherency with the rest of the dex or with pokemon as a whole. Anyone saying it's better than swsh is a fricking idiot and that game had a weak dex. Still had >Corviknight >Orbeetle >Drednaw >Coalossal (while shit still better than gen 9's dumb kaiju) >Appletun and Flapple >Sandaconda (shit but still a better Just a Snake mon than the ridiculous flamingo/dolphin shit) >Cramorant >Centiskorch >Hatterne >Grimmsnarl >Coomzerker >Sirfetch'd >Mr. Rime >Obstagoon >Grapploct >Runerigus >Falinks >Copperajah >Dragapult >the YJK legendaries >fossilmon comedy
I don't even like most of these but they look like actual pokemon and I wouldn't be completely ashamed of having them in a party. Meanwhile people in gen 9 will be rocking megaman zx, a literal minecraft block, and your mom's flamingo yard ornament
I'll give you that
(while shit still better than gen 9's dumb kaiju)

Only 32 out of 105 are acceptable imo. So many uncreative (pre-)evolutions this time. Pokemon like Pawmo and Tinkatink lack any hint of personality and exist only to fill up the dex. Future Paradoxes are a big disappointment. Individually judged, some of them look good (Iron Moth), but it's lazy how they just took a Pokemon, applied a metallic texture, and called it a day. There have always been silly-looking Pokemon and they aren't necessarily bad (Wooper, Bellibolt), but a lot of Pokemon in this Gen would look so much better if their faces and proportions looked more realistic, beast-like, intimidating, or serious. Ceruledge for example would look so much better with sharper eyes and a smaller, less round head. Meowscarade should have a smaller mask, a smaller mustache for Kingambit, and so on.
extremely underwhelming, almost insultingly so. The few good designs are definitely not enough to save this dumpster fire. I know that its the "meme" criticism of Pokemon but these really dont look like Pokemon. The psuedo looks like a really bad fakemon.
Seems really bad designed to be honest.
Maybe it looks better in 2d but in 3d it sucks. Specially the starters. Somehow they all suck.
Btw, they stated that skelidirge has a bird in his head when it clearly looks like a fish.
liked them more than gen 8s designs but that was a low bar, definitely did not like the character designs in this game. They look like soulless mobile game assets
I like it, it really pushes what you are and aren’t okay with as a Pokémon and I think that’s why there’s so much fricking doomposting surrounding it but generally speaking I think it’s a solid and really unique dex.
I like that they got weird after Galar’s dex which I didn’t like at all. It’s not even the fact that there’s a few truly awful designs in that dex and more that I feel completely indifferent towards the majority. With Paldea I at least feel something towards most of the dex as opposed to apathy across the board.
I’d probably like it a lot more if the holograms emoted in a lot of cool ways compared to regular Hydreigon and/or it had a lot of unique animations to make it stand out but I have yet to see that yet, it’s not a terrible design but it pales so hard in comparison to the original
This gen is very much in the extremes for me. There are a lot of pokemon I think are the absolute worst in the franchise - but at the same time there are also a lot of pokemon I'm super into.
Its not as overall solid as some other gens, but its miles ahead of gen 8 which was just 95% kinda meh. I'd take "some I love and some I hate" over "I feel nothing".
Below average, even worse than Galar's, Kalos', and Sinnoh's. Just need to make some first form mons look less shit, make scovillain less shit, and maybe add another line or two that's not a dog. Originals that is, not regionals or true/fake regionals.
good dex. for the first time in a while, it felt like we got to see some gross, monstrous pokemon instead of everything being cutesy. while a lot of the designs would be improved by a few extra details, this is still my favorite dex since 5.
Kinda wish the snail wasn't a legendary because I love it to fricking death but I probably won't use it much because of my dumbfrick autism. Also Garganacl is perfection and I love him to death
Galar also had a weak dex but at least there were a couple of design standouts you'd easily be able to argue are objectively in the top 10% of all Pokemon.
Conversely even Gen 9s best Pokemon are in the bottom tiers design-wise, and the rest are unbelievably bad and forgettable. It's like an entire generation of Stonejourner.
Even the good designs don't look good in practice; the concept and artwork of Skeledirge is awesome and its going to look great in the TCG, but its model is so lazily designed that the fire is just a big blob with a fire texture and so it looks like hair instead of flame breath. They did the same thing with Mega Charizard Z back in Gen 6/7 but at least it was only a few tiny wisps and not covering its entire head.
There are unbelievably lazy designs, like Dundunsparce, the dolphins first form, the giant worm thing, or most of the future forms just being mech versions of the regular Pokemon design. There are unbelievably bad designs, like the spider, the ghost dog that looks like Mutley, the three-stage electric rodent/bear and the salt... thing. Most of the dex falls into one or two of these categories.
There are two Pokemon this generation that I would say are good: Annihilape and the past Salamence. Maybe the Bisharp evo. Kilowattrell is I suppose an inoffensive design at least. Other than that, awful.
If you look at 90% of the gen 9 dex without any context or prior knowledge, you wouldn't even know this was pokemon. Worst gen by a country mile. Sad some nice designs like storm bird were cursed by being introduced in this gen
I like it, there’s a good mix of monstrous classic like Pokémon and more of the Nu-gen like goofy designs. Also appreciate that it finally gave us a lot of the more obvious Pokemon picks like a pepper and a dolphin. Though I would’ve preferred more normal or original mons rather than the Paradox remix mons hogging up the dex
I dislike it, a lot of the pokemon feel like fakemons or heavily inspired from other fracnhises in a way that didn't happen before (though Yokai Watch did scare them in previous generations).
There’s some god tier designs, there’s some absolutely bottom of the barrel shit, but the dex itself is mostly inoffensive. The paradox pokemon definitely give this batch some identity, ironically even if they’re retreads of older designs. Definitely a step up from SwSh which I thought had too many abstract designs.
How in the frick is this better than gen 8, why are there so many morons saying it, are these desperate Scat/Vomit shills?
At least gen 8 still looked like Pokemon, gen 8 still had variation, gen 8 still had evolutions that differed and improved from the previous forms, gen 8 still had a couple marvelous designs like Centiscorch and Hattarene. Gen 8 still had a Pseudo legend that looked like a Pseudo legend.
This trash gen is all toys, robots and basic shapes, most of these don't even look like Pokemon.
Two starters are trannies. FIVE (5) bird lines (6 if you count the starter), THREE (3) dog lines.
Multiple lines that belong in other franchises, hammer blob belongs in kirby, mouse family belongs in hello kitty, the bugs and Klwaf belong in Bugsnax. Ceruledge and Armarouge belong in Megaman Battle Network, Nacli line belongs in Mario and Minecraft.
The hammer blob and pawmi lines do not justify 3 dex spots, almost every evolution is a it-just-gets-biger and the few that don't are ruin the line like the olive tree, the dolphin and the reddit mascot that collects coins.
What I really dislike is how designs went from "nature with a twist" to "here's some profession but done by an animal!" for starters >Gen1 >Gen 2
literally just animals with elemental themes, as it should be >Gen 3 >Gen 4
Blaziken and Infernape are a little bit arguable but generally still good >Gen 5
This is where shit starts, Tepig and Oshawott are clearly inspired by professions, though it's still okayish because it's not literally furbait but more animal than humanesque >Gen 6
Fennekin goes full furry, Froakie basically is "ninja but a frog" instead of "frog but a ninja" as it should be, and that was the tipping point between a good and bad design >Gen 7 >Gen 8
all downhill from here, Gen 8 literally is "soccer player but a bunny", "spy but a frog" and "drum player but a monke" with zero room for interpretation >Gen 9
two starters become LGBTQ furbait and you cant tell me fricking otherwise, what is this garbage
i mean i still like some of these designs but it doesnt feel right to make shit like that fight
Summed up my thoughts
Pretty much this. There's some good, great, bad, and terrible mixed in making it overall alright.
Same here. There’s some designs I like, but most of them are either neutral or disappointing.
this.
I go all over the place with love, neutral, and hate with this dex
This. Its a very average dex. If I had to personally rank each gens dex it would be like this:
1>3>2>6>5=9>4>7>8
fippy bippy
it feels very gen 5 esque to me with some hits, some misses, and some average ones
In short:
Long: Definitely better than gen 7, but I only slightly prefer it more than gen 8.
This, which is ultimately fine.
It's at least not bad.
Better than Gaylar no question
Better than Galar at least.
Galar was significantly better than this dex. Like what in this dex is actually good? IMO Galar was like gen 6, it was mostly a bad dex with a couple of cool ones. This dex is 100% garbage.

So, like Galar? Every single new species and Galarian form ties to the UK in some way, whether it be wildlife, history, or culture
True, guess it's just too bad it's Bri*ish culture
Shit

I don’t think they’ll retcon dex numbers ever, especially after nearly 30 years of having “the original 151”
Only the grass cats are good.
This, and even then, they fricked up and gave the last one fricking amputee fingers.
Awful starters but meh dex. At least some feel like Pokemon unlike Alola.
tbhwy
Very underwhelming and uninspiring
Worse Ugly Designs since Gen5 and 8
First time I feels like Im being force to use a Polemon too
Nothing Stands out to me
this is worse than Galar
The Starters also one of the worse ever
Galar at least has Rillaboom
all around contains the most disappointing number of evolutions in one gen

The nu ones all look like Mobile Games tier
They really folded gave up and Embraced the TemTem aesthetics it so sad
TemTem is unironically a better aesthetic than most of the latest expansions.
Tateru is peak cute alien creature design.
Worst yet, which is impressive after Gen 8. Still some good ones like the Charcadet family, Garganacl, and that legendary snail I can't remember the name of.
Temtem was already arguably better by gen 8. Against gen 9 it's already not a contest.
You have to be trolling to think gen 8 has a better dex than gen 9
I like it better than gen8 but no by much, major issues.

>some mons just dont look like pokemon (the megaman duo as an example)
If they dont look like pokemon galade and gardevoir also should be considered as not pokemonish
Worse than Galar
I cant even pick 5 mons to make a team with
There's Ceruledge and the lighting bird.
then after that fricking nothing
It's shit
I feel like they took away Bisharps cool energy and excitement and made him static and heavy.
i only like a few mons
maybe it's the artstyle overall, i also only like a few human characters
beginner blender user creates his first dex / 10
I'd give it overall a 6.5/10, better than I thought it was gonna be. I will say a LOT of these look better in motion or with context (like dex entries) more than any dex before it.
grass cat is the worst starter
no need to mald and seethe, pokefricker homosexual

Better than 8 by a mile, maybe equal to 6. Gen 7 still beats it. It has a lot of weird, goofy and straight up fakemon looking designs but some of them are charming enough so I'll give them time to see if they grow on me

What Pokemon and characters do you think James Turner designed?
The shit ones like bird3
I wonder which pokemon did yusuke kozaki design for this gen
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he did the legendaries since Koraidon has that Toxtricity vibe
>Art director is a woman
Serious question: why almost everything that a woman controls turns to shit?
a woman designed Pikachu and Charizard and most of the best mons, chud. a white guy was the art director last time and it was even more shit.
same guy designed my favorites buzzswole, golurk, and teacup. Was it fluke he had some good designs? The rest look like he had a deadline that same night and mspainted over an animal picture.
I recommend you read the post again. A woman being led by a man can design good things. A woman in CONTROL turns things to shit.
>the art director is in control
Ohmori is just shit
It's likely she didn't play Pokemon when she was younger because female gamers were statistically a rarity and RPGs were considered for nerds. That alone makes her out of touch with the fanbase.

Tell that to women in the army or sports.
Women in sports inject roids so their personalities are overridden by the increased aggressiveness (and then they becone even worse emotional wrecks during the post-cycle) and as for the military 99% of them are placed in low-risk and low-combat roles.

it's better than gen 8, but thats about all you can say.
With each new gem my love hate relationship with variants only grows stronger both the love and the hate
Better than gen 8, 4, 6, and 2. Odd gen = good dex plays out again
Shit
Why did Misdreavus get a regional timetravel thing instead of Mismagius?
For some reason Sinnoh mons never got regional forms. For them GF just make new regional evos like Sneasler
Even Alola mons started gettin ones now
IDK. A bigger question for me would be why Mismagius is Iono's ace
Levitatemon to Tera into Electric so no weakness.
Same deal as Magneton
Mismagius and Magnezone might not have existed back then
Could've been worse

Any Pokémon with gender differences?
Some evolutions are really lazy here
I like the two legends, and all of the past/future forms. But most of the new dex, I don't know feels weird? I can't quite place a theme or trend like with Regions.
there's no real bangers, i really don't give a frick about any of those
easiest skip in franchise, it's a mess
I like it. Honestly I mostly enjoy the fact it feels like the first real dex in many generations. After having new dexes of 72 and then 88, it feels good to finally have over 100 new mons. Some designs that I really like others than I dislike.

I honestly feel like I'm forcing myself to like many of them. Awful gen
Best legendary quartet/trio in existence. Birds, Regis, Beasts, Lake spirits, Swords of justice, Genies and Tapus all pail in comparison.
A LOT are ugly, many are just bland or boring.
Better than Galar's, about on par with Alola's. Every other gen shits all over it, even Kalos.
>Better than Galar's, about on par with Alola's
but stop trolling
Which part specifically do you disagree with?
Overall I don't like it that much. I like bug and grass types the most and the offers there are pretty weak overall.
Gen 5 was the best. Frick everyone who disagrees.
>cat girl starter
Pleasantly surprised. I've felt the latest gens, with an exception of gen 7, have been absolute dogshit but gen 9 has been a breath of fresh air.
Very jarring. Few are really good and the others look like a total shit show
wait, there are people who think gen 7&8 were bad. WHAT
It's a bad dex overall.
There's not as many truly awful designs as there has been in the last couple of gens, but...most of the dex is just middle of the road bullshit. Who are the standouts? Annihilape, Cetitan and Clodsire are good. All of the Legends are good. That's about it.
1 > 6 > 2 = 3 > 8 > 4 > 9 > 5 > 7
Is there a file somewhere with all those (and returning Pokemon) in a higher resolution with a transparent bg?
Has some okay designs, but a lot of shit. 6/10
Way better than SwSh, ahead of XY and SM.
youre on crack
So there are
>Regional forms
>Future/past forms
>New evolutions
So why do they also have
>Palette swap of gen 1 mon with slightly changed name
It's alright. A lot of crap designs, but man solid ones as well.
Also first generation ever, where i put all three starters evos in S tier.
based fuecoco not joining the final evo furhomosexual starter trend
Also based fuecoco for completely destroying the zodiac theory once and for all
Their okey, the ones that I think are complete shit are generally the mons that are way too round or look like they were designed for plushies like Belibolt. outside of Fuicoco, not a fan of the other two starter lines especially sprigs as it’s basically another rip off of Greninja that does nothing with protean that distinguishes it from the frog or Trashrabbit in playstyle (a shame as well as They had way more potential than the galar starters ever did). But I still need to see some of these mons in motion to get a better judgement on them.
One of the best alongside Gen 7, easily. With Gens 3 and 5 permission.
There's a few I like, but the rest are absolute garbage. It's been like that for a while now. I'm not surprised.
Can anyone make a version of this with their names and typing?
It's the first time ever that I've not only hated the majority of the dex, but found them repulsive. Also the first time I've hated the entire starter trio's final evos.
I genuinely don't understand how people say Gen 8's was still worse. The bad ones would fit in with this dex, but there were a lot more good ones.
Absolutely horrid. Worse than forgettable.
just for you anon
You're cute
thanks, typo fixed
Nice but missed the psychic icon for Armarouge.
pain
why is Cetitan so fricking small?
missing Salamence
bottom left corner
oh. i missed it cause it wasnt with the other ancient pokemon
Yeah, since it's post-game, it comes later in the regional dex.
wanna make a version that includes tauros and wooper?
Here you go, but we still don't have the sprites for the dual-type Tauros
gotcha, thanks! any idea what they're called? they're not just all paldean tauros are they?
the dex page in-game calls all three of them "Paldean Tauros" but I'm sure there will be some distinction at the very least in lore
Squawkabilly is spelled wrong.
some mons i love, some mons i hate, and a lot in between. same as it is for every gen really
Better than Gen 8
it's bad. worst dex of all time
Team rate time
k here I go. not sold on the Revaroom just yet or even my starter (may box it) but here is what I am thinking so far.
My planned team. Will have to trade over Tauros. Pretty weird team. The newer the gens, the fewer elemental mons I use.
Frick do I wish Tinkaton didn't have shitmon stats
Wish it had huge power at least
I'm in the minority, but I like that they didn't make it busted.
It doesn't need 170 base power
But 100 would be nice
Not seventy fricking five
That's weaker than a fricking beedrill
Are we sure it doesn't have its own Bone Club-like item?
it's a video game made for children
I liked 10 designs in Galar, but at least those were new pokemon.
I like more mons in Gen 9, but most of them are new forms or evos from older designs, so i don't know if Paldea really is superior to Galar.
Overall yeah, meh.
>People here liked the Gen 7 dex
It was terrible.
Not when you have amazing mons like
>Golisopod
>Minior
>Bewear
>Dhelmise
>Marshadow
any other dondozo enjoyers
I wish it was a Wiscash evolution.
There was really no reason for it not to be.
Great, but shinys are mostly dog shit
Anyone have the link to thread or the pic of known shinies?
here you go anon
Thanks anon
Very underwhelming, there’s like 2 I like…
Yeah, I only like the Sprig line, the worm, the engines, the fish legend, Koraidon and Clodsire. Though I hate shinies, always found them afterthoughts with wasted opportunitues.
There's very few good mons and a lot of misses. I'd say very underwhelming with just very few gold nuggets.
>dust has settled
>Game comes out next week
we haven't even had a chance to use the pokemon yet, you fricking idiot.
Does anyone have the pic of all the pokemon able to transfer in from Home ?
Easily the worst dex yet. Not only are the majority of designs bad but most of them barely have any coherency with the rest of the dex or with pokemon as a whole. Anyone saying it's better than swsh is a fricking idiot and that game had a weak dex. Still had
>Corviknight
>Orbeetle
>Drednaw
>Coalossal (while shit still better than gen 9's dumb kaiju)
>Appletun and Flapple
>Sandaconda (shit but still a better Just a Snake mon than the ridiculous flamingo/dolphin shit)
>Cramorant
>Centiskorch
>Hatterne
>Grimmsnarl
>Coomzerker
>Sirfetch'd
>Mr. Rime
>Obstagoon
>Grapploct
>Runerigus
>Falinks
>Copperajah
>Dragapult
>the YJK legendaries
>fossilmon comedy
I don't even like most of these but they look like actual pokemon and I wouldn't be completely ashamed of having them in a party. Meanwhile people in gen 9 will be rocking megaman zx, a literal minecraft block, and your mom's flamingo yard ornament
you'll get used to them
I'll give you that
I'll give you that
I'll give you that
(while shit still better than gen 9's dumb kaiju)
No hell no
and Flapple
Ni
(shit but still a better Just a Snake mon than the ridiculous flamingo/dolphin shit)

Okay I guess

Chien-Pao's body is based on ancient Chinese leopard statues or something like that.
Mostly mediocre with a couple good ones.
Has some of the worst pokemon designs ever made mixed in.
who this?
what does he evolve into or what does he do?
ebi nigiri
goes into Donzodo's mouth and raises its attack, sp. attack (or defense?) or speed based on its color
It raises all Don's stats by 2, the extra stat boost is from one of Don's moves.
ugly bland and boring
it makes the galar dex better im comparison
Electric bros, how we feelin'? I'm getting used to the bird, has a simple, but effective design.
hate the frog, bird is OK, Pawmot is not bad when looked at in isolation and I like all the paradoxes
almost all of my faves this gen are electric type, I might just say frick it and do an electric mono-run since my bro Toxtricity is here too.
extremely underwhelming, almost insultingly so.
Paldea dex (meaning including returning) is actually probably 2nd best dex after BW2 Unova.
liked them more than gen 8s designs but that was a low bar, definitely did not like the character designs in this game. They look like soulless mobile game assets
what's up with the unusually high amount of singer stagers this generation?
SINGLE stagers. fricking autocorrect
Jugulis' heads (the blue parts) are holograms and go out when defeated, I don't know if that changes your view or not
better but still pretty disappointing
I’d probably like it a lot more if the holograms emoted in a lot of cool ways compared to regular Hydreigon and/or it had a lot of unique animations to make it stand out but I have yet to see that yet, it’s not a terrible design but it pales so hard in comparison to the original
very high highs and very low lows. most just feel uninspired
so pretty much just swsh
Stop hating on my main man orthworm he’ll eat your ass like it’s a ground type move
Absolute Garbage just like Gen 5
This gen is very much in the extremes for me. There are a lot of pokemon I think are the absolute worst in the franchise - but at the same time there are also a lot of pokemon I'm super into.
Its not as overall solid as some other gens, but its miles ahead of gen 8 which was just 95% kinda meh. I'd take "some I love and some I hate" over "I feel nothing".
Absolutely Traumatizing to look at especially the Starers.
Galar Dex feels like a godsend at this point.
it just keeps getting worse and worse
Best one since Gen 5.
Galar Dex was just meh for the most part
Paldea Dex cuts to you like its aggressively and negatively affects you how ugly and joke looking they are.
Really meh, at least it's better than Galar, especially the starters.
What's the name of the punk girls line, also their dex entries, does anyone have them?
weirdo dex, but there's nothing here I hate or even dislike which is already better than Galar
Below average, even worse than Galar's, Kalos', and Sinnoh's. Just need to make some first form mons look less shit, make scovillain less shit, and maybe add another line or two that's not a dog. Originals that is, not regionals or true/fake regionals.
On the whole, the worst gen to date.
I like the rape monkey and Salamence
The rest are meh
Sexo with Flamigo
One of the best. The past and future themed pokemon are exceptionally good.
>Quaquaval and Clodsire are the only defensive backbones amongst all of the new 'mons
>the water/fighting sweeper is a defensive backbone
?
Planned team. I'm really excited about the game, especially considering how many things I disliked in SwSh.
Got 3 ancient egyptian looking pokemon, so i'm happy
honestly one of the better generations, up there with gen 3 and gen 7, design wise
has a lot more personality than the other 3d gens
Annihilape is the only good design.
I feel like I'd be underwhelmed if I tried to do only new Pokemon for my first run
good dex. for the first time in a while, it felt like we got to see some gross, monstrous pokemon instead of everything being cutesy. while a lot of the designs would be improved by a few extra details, this is still my favorite dex since 5.
A lot of filler shitmons. But the good stuff is pretty damn good. Hopefully the DLC will add back all the pokemon.
It has some of the worst designs I've seen in the entire franchise
Kinda wish the snail wasn't a legendary because I love it to fricking death but I probably won't use it much because of my dumbfrick autism. Also Garganacl is perfection and I love him to death
Worst dex I have seen so far.
For me it's the best since gen 2. At least tentatively, I'll have to actually play the games first to have a solid opinion.
Abomination worse than Unova and Galar
pokemon is just getting worse and worse
I just realized there are no fossil pokemon this gen. I wonder why they made that decision.
Easily the worst dex ever and its not even close.
I do! I like most of them. A few are meh, but overall I don't hate ANY of these.
Again, not perfic, but honestly one of the most solid gens we've had in a while IMHO
If you look at 90% of the gen 9 dex without any context or prior knowledge, you wouldn't even know this was pokemon. Worst gen by a country mile. Sad some nice designs like storm bird were cursed by being introduced in this gen
Garbage
It's been what, TWO DECADES, since a good set came out? Put a fork in it.
is there a compilation of all the 3d models with the normal colors like the shiny version? just so I can more easily compare and contrast
I like it but there's a 200% chance theyre gonna shove every box legendary into the raids again
Soulless just like the characters, perfect for the new audience this game is catering to.
eh, could be better
Gen 7 for comparison
It just keeps getting worst.
Gen 8
I dislike it, a lot of the pokemon feel like fakemons or heavily inspired from other fracnhises in a way that didn't happen before (though Yokai Watch did scare them in previous generations).
it'd be the worst in the series if not for paradox forms
I can't make a full team of new mons unless I use paradoxes. And even then its pretty tough.
What I really dislike is how designs went from "nature with a twist" to "here's some profession but done by an animal!" for starters
>Gen1
>Gen 2
literally just animals with elemental themes, as it should be
>Gen 3
>Gen 4
Blaziken and Infernape are a little bit arguable but generally still good
>Gen 5
This is where shit starts, Tepig and Oshawott are clearly inspired by professions, though it's still okayish because it's not literally furbait but more animal than humanesque
>Gen 6
Fennekin goes full furry, Froakie basically is "ninja but a frog" instead of "frog but a ninja" as it should be, and that was the tipping point between a good and bad design
>Gen 7
>Gen 8
all downhill from here, Gen 8 literally is "soccer player but a bunny", "spy but a frog" and "drum player but a monke" with zero room for interpretation
>Gen 9
two starters become LGBTQ furbait and you cant tell me fricking otherwise, what is this garbage
i mean i still like some of these designs but it doesnt feel right to make shit like that fight
