Yes, a lot of the other things can be patched or modded. Some things can't such as the dialogue, but they wouldn't matter all that much if everything else was up to par. Space travel is just endless loading screens, ground travel is just sprinting along with jetpacks to objective markers.

As soon as I saw the first trailer I knew that it would be bad. Nothing the trailers showed looked like anything new or interesting but i was comparing it a lot to no mans sky. Come release date I dont know why its not 60 fps the game is ugly as sin but maybe its due to the highly outdated engine they for some reason just refuse to retire. Everytime I see someone playing it, It looks like the most boring lifeless game ive ever seen. Its hot garbage fire. All these first party games just suck now.

    >Starfield has worse exploration than Morrowind
You cannot land your ship right outside a city and walk in, you’ll eventually hit an invisible wall. This applies to all ship landings as well, you eventually hit invisible walls. This is worse than Morrowind where you could literally levitate to a city and walk in

Once inside a city you can’t walk out and explore the rest of the planet, you have to land somewhere. This is worse than Morrowind where you could do this

There are no vehicles, mounts, or alternate methods of travel outside walking and a jet pack with limited functionality. This is worse than Morrowind’s levitation spells and fortify acrobatics magic effect (obtainable through gear, spells, or potions) as well as Oblivion since even Obliviin had horses

Even with walking there are only two ways to improve your speed, one is through an Amp that increases your moment speed by 35% for 2 minutes or through the Dueling perk that increases your speed by 20% for 10 seconds after a kill. This is worse than Morrowind which had the fortify speed effect (obtainable through gear, spells, and potions)

Even though there are few ways of getting around and increasing your movement speed Starfield is filled with barren planets that were procedurally generated. This is worse than Morrowind which had greater content density and handcrafted content that was carefully placed on the map

There is no map in Starfield. This is worse than Morrowind, which had both an in-game map and a physical one (although no quest markers)

There is no single, large contiguous map to explore. This is worse than Morrowind that did have this

      >Starfield manages to be a step back from even Fallout 4 in some ways
Although Fallout 4 basically made power armor into mech suits there are no mechs in this game, they’re “illegal” which apparently means they flat don’t exist, not even pirates have them which makes no sense

Combat is identical to Fallout 4 except there is no gore or VATS so it has less to differentiate itself from any other generic FPS

There is settlement building but other aspects of the game basically make it a worthless investment

      >What Starfield uniquely brings to the table isn’t terribly impressive
You can build your own ship but because you don’t really use your ship much this feature isn’t significant. You can’t fly your ship over the surface of the planet nor manually land it, you likely aren’t going to fly it that often because there is little point, and aside from that all there is, is a space battle minigame that isn’t very good. So while it’s nice it isn’t groundbreaking

There is a NG+ which changes a few things when you enter a new universe. However the game goes nowhere far enough with this, the changes are relatively minor and few and far in-between. This also makes settlement building a less worthwhile investment since your settlements do not carry over to NG+ anyways

The sheer quantity of content in this game, I guess, is something unique. However a lot of it will involve completely barren planets with recycled content anyways. There are a lot of side quests but they are hit or miss and they do not meaningfully impact the game when you complete them

Starfield does not let you kill any NPC which is also a step back from Morrowind

Starfield’s story is not groundbreaking either and is basically just a rehash of Skyrim, instead of collecting words of power it’s artifacts, instead of Dragonborn you’re the Starborn

And lastly Starfield has terrible performance, its “recommended” requirements will give you sub 30 FPS at 1440p

It’s all so tiresome, they have a pretty good base here. It’s just devoid of content to make things fun. I got it on gamepass. It’s a 7/10. I guess I’m going to check it out in a year when they finally complete the game by add things that are plainly missing.

          >A Novo Solo variant on the basic pattern of powersuit/heavy lifter that's served all over the outer colonies. The average NEP Mongoose, or Mog, has been decommissioned, retrofitted, rebuilt, scrapped, demilitarized and recommissioned so many times they have a bad reputation with recruits. Even after a complete rebuild, the cranial jack tends to retain... a certain personality, let's say. Rookie Mog drivers would call it a ghost, but that's being dramatic about issues with biofeedback. Tough, versatile, the Mog is the backbone of mechanized infantry, and so ubiquitous that 'mog' became a catch-all for powersuits as a whole. They may just be so much scrap underfoot of a Touro, but coordinated attacks from an entire squad is no joke.

It's not even a "good" Bethesda game, in Fallout/Skyrim you could just go from one place to another and explore while here it's just drop down menu galore.

I've played the free version for 60 hours now. Basically every NPC is boring or really generic. The writing is so safe and generic every questline feels like you've done it already in some other game / heard the same story before. I've found like a total of three (3) interesting quests in 60 hours. Most fun I've had has been building the ship with mods and min-maxing my weapon with all workshop and research upgrades. Every tiny mission feels like a chore and the dialogue is just random sludge I just spam through. The "cities" look very ugly and they're pretty small. The planets feel like a waste of time unless you have a quest to do something on them. Random space station/ship encounters have been decent. Base-building is really limited and annoying. Main quest might be the worst one in any game I've ever played before, literally written by a 12 year old who just found out what time traveling is. I have used multiple mods and console commands to reduce the time padding of perk unlocking and material gathering because its just not worth it in this game. I'll probably finish the game tomorrow, since I have done all big side quests and faction quests already and skimmed through every planet. I give it a solid 5.7/10, worse than Fallout 4 for me. Its a good game if you're autistic and don't know better

Space Sheriff questline and some of the random ones in the freestar collective are palatable. Everything about the main quest and UCmorons as a faction is pure AIDs. The do anything radiant open ended playloop does feel like it's a game up until you run into a duplicated dungeon or Sarah opens her blown out cunt mouth to whine about how she's only a decorated officer who got to fail upward her whole life.

UN peacekeeping force town rapist on the "infiltrate's the crimson fleet" questline and the Colony ship quests are bottom of the barrel low points and you can just tell they thought these would be what rivaled new vegas.

I'll probably finish the game tomorrow, since I have done all big side quests and faction quests already and skimmed through every planet. I give it a solid 5.7/10, worse than Fallout 4 for me. Its a good game if you're autistic and don't know better

    The AI is bad.
Everything else could be forgiven if the AI was good enough to make combat not be retarded but there you go.

If you want to actually get into everything that was wrong/done poorly we could talk all day. obviously the travel mechanics are fucked up and not what they original intended. Some of the perks could have been baseline but its not a huge deal. Stats scale way too hard but thats just the kind of game it is, most open world RPG or psuedo open world RPG games have stat systems that scale too hard in order to give the illusion of player progression.

Most complaints i see are actually stupid and some even wrong, however even for the valid ones they could have all been forgiven if the AI was good enough to make combat more interesting. as it is its just terrible.

Bethesda correctly knew they could barely slap together the laziest possible reskin of FO4-in-Space* and would get away because gamers are cretins.

    *Space not included.

Did Starfield just copypaste the Fallout 4 legendary system into this game? If true, that is reason alone for me to never touch this.

    >buys bethesda game
    >expects a good main quest

Bethesda hasnt had a good main quest since 2002, and even then 1/2 of the main quest is just quests that facilitate the player exploring the world. At this its a staple of their company that their main quests are stupid, if you expected anything else then you just havent played Beth games enough
