Are you really surprised that after the spacetrash, Outer Worlds, they are making more dumbed down shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if Outer Worlds 2 goes Fallout 4 of no skills, just perks.

And nobody praises dos2’s build variety

That's because most just use teleportation to frick through the game, rather than make an interesting build and be forced to bump down the difficulty.

If teleporting supercedes all interesting builds you fricked up

            Anonymous

            >Supercedes
Nobody is forcing you to do anything. Supercedes what? Fun? No, you're clearly talking about damage, and that is all your min-max compulsive brain seem to process.
Gameplay can be enjoyed for gameplay's sake. No build needs to be more than: "I feel like playing this".
In old games, that you probably don't play, devs would deliberately put in OP shit in their games all the time, albeit sometimes through unlocks but also sometimes not, because why not? There we're no balance patches in those days, so why not just let players decide what they want to do?

      Anonymous

That's actually because of armor system forcing your team to go full magic or full physical with nothing inbetween.
And if you go physical you max out warfare because they were stupid enough to make warfare just flat out increase non-conditional physical damage at the same rate other skills boost conditional physical damage.

        Anonymous

        >forcing
It's definitely very effective, but you can just go 50/50 and pick targets depending on which armor is lower, it's not hard. Even on Tactician.

          Anonymous

And it's absolutely non optimal to the point where you're clearly handicapping yourself. You'll finish every encounter faster and with less trouble if you just focus on a single damage type, even if the encounter features lots of enemies with high armor against that damage type.
And 75/25 damage spread is even worse.

Personally I prefer classless design. Restricting what you can do based on a class has always bothered me.

Fallout 3/New Vegas didn't have classes but you gays never cried about it then.

You just need a reason to complain don't you?

To be fair, Fallout isn't famed for its well designed character building system. That's not why you're playing.

But the op and his friends imply this makes the op game bad but will praise other games that do the same thing because they played them as teens.

      Anonymous

Designing a classless system takes far more effort than designing a class system. Classes and restrictions help to streamline balancing. Far too many classless systems end up encouraging Jack of all trades master of all builds. Players might want them but it kills the point of role playing. Role playing is all about working around limits placed on your characters, removing those limits means your character has no character.

For some reason Ganker got it in their head that classless is bad because some mmo's who didn't kill WoW didn't have classes either.
Complaints about classless design are on this purely tribalistic level and stand irrespective of whether classless design can be good (yes, just because a game doesn't kill wow doesn't mean it's bad. Not even wow can kill wow) or the genre (we've been doing classes design in singleplayer RPGs since the 90s and many of those games are all time classics).

      [...]
To be fair, Fallout isn't famed for its well designed character building system. That's not why you're playing.

What? Fallout does have a good character building system. There's lots of different viable builds you can go and strategies you can follow.
Sure, not everything is perfectly balanced. But it's disingenuous to expect that level of perfection. Some classes in games with classes are overpowered/underpowered too.

Makes sense. It's a game pass game now, so it'll be centered around player retention.
They want people to play as long as possible, and they know moron normalgays don't replay games, so almost everything needs to be achievable in a single playthrough.

Am I the only one who hates when they try to put too many classes in an rpg game?

All I want is Warrior,Mage and Rogue.

But I tried to play games like Divinity and Pillars and they make it too complex like there is shit like Cleric, Archer and other pointless sub class shit that makes the game too complicated right at the begining like how the frick am I suppose to know this shit right at the begining of the game just like frick off okay.

Actually I'm totally fine with that. I mean I saw the gameplay. A gun in one hand and a wand in the other.

I mean to be frank "classless" is just more approachable. Just here's stats, weapons, armor, etc, and just put it together yourself.

Dunno why people would get upset unless it's just people trying to find something to make mountains out of molehills for.

I think a good classless system should distinguish between secondary skills like lockpicking/blacksmithing and skills used in combat so leveling secondary skills doesn't increase your combat level and frick you in the ass, it should also have a finite amount of combat skill points to spend so you can't become a master at everything. It should instead provide a way to redistribute your points so you can try out different combinations of combat skills unlocking various unique playstyles.
If they can do that then it's fine I guess, it didn't seem like it from the footage they've shown however.
