Magic Castti is the new wave.
tell me more
https://www.reddit.com/r/octopathtraveler/comments/11opajk/no_mercy_only_pain/
eh, most characters can do that level of shenanigan's with an aoe and alpione's amulet @1hp....
aoe multi hits that doesn't require setup from divine skills are better than having to setup.
I already beat the game and galdera, wtf is hazardous concoction wtf
Anon…
wew, I was really expecting her to put more heart into that line based on the OP's pic
Physical Osvald is the new wave
did they seriously reuse the superboss from the 1st game?
secret boss this time, and has more hp, unfortunately it holds achievement hunters by the balls, with 2 achievements that one encounter cockblocks.
What's your build for this? I wanna decimate the stupid secret boss.
idk what that build is, but i used this one to a similar effect, they do use some nuts to raise stats, but i managed to do the strategy, given the RNG doesn't fuck you too hard.
post more fanart I need to grow my collection
im glad this game bombed in sales
it did just about average for sales
>im glad this game bombed in sales
and yet still did higher than Forespoken
How to get hick gf?
Is there a man more perfect than Partitio? He's so handsome, rugged, pure hearted, compassionate, ugh. I wanna marry him.
We need so many more OT2 memes. The porn is also lacking.
that's because there's only 2 porn pics
ywn feel Ochette's strange texture
bro she kinda highkey lowkey basted as fuck ngl
basically the protagonist
fr
there isn't anything wrong with Hikari's brain though outside of being a dumbass
besides the shadow tulpa causing him massive headaches and trying to force him to giving in to bloodlust?
yeah nah he's chilling
having demon posessed blood isn't a brain problem
lucky for him none of that blood flows to his brain then, yeah?
Bloodline that was tainted with ancient evil that corrupts the user... what?
Osvald had it rougher than anyone in 1 or 2. Meanwhile Cyrus had it easier than everyone besides maybe Tressa. The duality of scholars.
do you take the hag or the brat Ganker?
I pick the bandit
>not the warrior
I hadn't fought her yet. She has some great jiggle.
The bandit bitch is a bit more unhinged though which is extra hot.
Does this game actually show your equipment?
Yes, each weapon has its own sprite
Just weapons.
Post the real best girl
You mean the real real best girl
second cutest merchant protagonist
t. Ori
>not veronica
Considered getting this game or at least pirating it eventually but holy fuck this looks so ugly.
:^)
Just wait for Fortnight 2.0, bro
>this game looks fucking ugly
>haha I bet you like FORTNITE and other cringe games for children
Is that really your only defense for why this looks so shit? Those sprites look fucking retarded in relation to eachother. I don't know how people can play this.
It's easy. We play it regardless of what you think.
Nice marvel quip, bro. Bet that sounded really good in your head.
Unless that chick's canonically over 20 feet tall this looks so fucking stupid. I'm sure it looks fine for giant ogres and dragons and all but holy fuck this is laughably bad under the assumption you're fighting someone of about the player's height. Why not just have them fight another sprite that looks like the players?
If the devs couldn't tell that this looked unsalvageably stupid at any point during the concept phase then I don't trust them to have filtered out any other dogshit ideas in other departments.
>Unless that chick's canonically over 20 feet tall this looks so fucking stupid.
oh, so you're one of those tards.
I get it, she's a boss so she has to be huge. If it was an older game with an Earthbound GUI with only the enemy on screen it'd look fine, but she's not a giantess and she makes the whole fucking composition look retarded. Like they made these sprites for separate games and had to awkwardly mesh them together in a scene.
It's a good sprite. It looks fucking stupid in relation to the other sprites on screen.
Only response whose poster has a brain.
Not everyone who disagrees with you is a troll, as much as you'd like to think.
You're a fucking sperg, you walk into a thread with people who bought and enjoyed a game during the launch window with the sole intention of starting shit over the artstyle.
You have no purpose here, you are not gonna convince anyone to refund the game, you're not talking to any of the devs. You're the punchline to a decade old meme.
Now fuck off
I entered a thread because the fanart OP was interesting. I scrolled down and saw how stupid the gameplay looked in-game, and I remarked on it. You're assuming I came to this thread bad faith so you don't have to come up with any excuses.
If you can't even rightfully defend your own favorite game and just resort to demanding they leave your safe space, it's probably not that good a game.
Those are monsters or at least definite non-humans, and at most they're 2x the size of the party characters. Their heights aren't set in stone. The woman in that pic is definitely just a normal human woman, so it looks fucking ridicoulous seeing her represented in the battle scene, and assumingly only in the battle scene, as ridiculously tall because you need to know she's the boss. Again, I'm sure it looks great when you're fighting huge monstrous opponents like dragons or ogres, but holy fuck that they made that composition and said "this looks good" says a lot.
>you're probably not even supposed to think that the whole party is fighting her. Narratively, a lot of the party fights are 1v1s
Well that seems a little silly and very unimmersive but not something I'm knowledgeable of to argue on.
>But for gameplay reasons it's a 4 dudes in a row turn-based combat encounter.
Do you see what I mean in how awkward this looks? Like sprites from different games awkwardly meshed together for an awkward composition.
Not everyone who disagrees with you is a child, as much as you'd like to disregard everything I say.
Bosses are supposedly to be big to be aesthetic unique and better detailed and cool.
Only an idiot would think they are meant to be 20 feet tall.
Yes, I got that a long time ago. It still looks stupid with that context. It makes the composition look retarded when you see these huge sprites in comparison to the miniscule player characters when they are assumingly about the same height in every other context but this one battle.
Only a retard would look at this
and say it looks cool.
It looks great.
I think you might have autism not to be able to differentiate things.
I guess I'm a retard.
Well colour me retarded then, gay.
>Defending a subjective aesthetic
Damn son, you're a fucking sperg
You have to be 18 to post on this board.
nice!!! you got that fucker! roasted!!!
The point is to make the boss look big and threatening, so it feels like your group are heroes fighting against the odds, rather than four thugs ganging up on a single victim.
no i actually have it on good authority that general mugen is in fact larger than a train
You're retarded if you don't know why they are big .
The game is trying to evoke the spirit of SNES JRPGs. That's what SNES JRPGs did with human opponents. The reason you are being called stupid is because your complaint is on the same level as "Isn't it weird that you can just enter homes and take NPCs' potions and gold???"
It's theatrical drama, you're not supposed to think this chick is 20 feet tall, you're probably not even supposed to think that the whole party is fighting her. Narratively, a lot of the party fights are 1v1s, or very undramatic things like the fight the merchant has with a little guard dog (which is presented as a giant monster in the battle, but is obviously just a normal dog that he fought off on his own, and he probably didn't even really hurt it), or at one point it's even a pair of chicks dancing with each other in front of an audience.
But for gameplay reasons it's a 4 dudes in a row turn-based combat encounter.
how old are you
Here's another example from the same game. He's not actually 3x taller than the cast.
oh god what the fuck did they do to ff6
Gotta be the 3D remake?
I have the pixel remaster and it looks heavenly.
there is no FF6 3d remake and there never ever will be. left is the original mobile port and right is PR
>Nice marvel quip, bro.
That's what they say in those things? I avoid "capeshit" in general.
>getting filtered over sprites
hahaha OOOF
I want to have sex with that sprite
>samefagging to try and not look retarded
No, you just base the quality of games off their looks.
It's meant to look retro. And it looks REALLY good retro.
>Old lady
She literally calls her big tits in the JP version.
Same with euro dubs btw, another case of muricans getting cucked.
Hm, but she doesn't have big tits
>Open cleavage from healthy white girl with reasonably perky chest compared to her competition being mostly flat.
Unless Throné is in the room, she catches all the attention.
True, I was comparing her to Thorne.
she has big peaches
(another line censored in English version trademark)
But even in the English version, it's obvious what they are saying....
Guess the Square ethics committee have to find something to justify their existence even if the game has nothing to pearl clutch over.
Okay
Rate the characters from most to least broken
Castti > Ochette > Partitio > Agnea > Hikari > Throne > garbage
>Castti over Ochette with the provoke beasts bug, also concoct stops mattering once you can just use apoc divine skill + item spam anyways
>Agnea over Hikari the blue mage supernuke
>calling Osvald and Tenemos garbage when they vomit damage with their supernukes and the latter also can overheal
Ochette > Partitio > Hikari > Tenemos > Throne > Osvald > Castti > Agnea
I’m unsure about whether Partitio is better than Ochette or not, since Arcanist Partitio is half of what made Runelord Tressa so broken in the previous game
>castti second lowest
put down the crack man
>ex 1 is okay midgame but falls off
>ex 2 is a meme
>lategame you can just use apoc divine skill and spam items forever to obsolete concoct
Putting her above stuff like Ochette, Partitio, and Hikari is being drunk
EX 2 unironically pretty cracked with Sealticge. You give 9 random buffs to everyone including divine skills, but I personally think that giving her mega speed and being able to move 1st in the Step Ahead turn thus reducing setup time by 1 turn is probably the most useful thing she provides and no one else can do it.
If you have the cash Partitio literally never lets the enemy move forever. Everyone deals more than 70k damage when properly built. Castti as usual with her bullshit turn 1 party BP. Ochette and Hikari are very flexible but Ochette has a bug and her beasts are free use.
Partitio > a small void > Castti > Ochette > Hikari > a giant void > everyone else
Inventor Agnea is nuts don’t throw her in the garbage pit with the casters and Throne
I'm a slow gamer, currently going through the first game. About halfway through.
please post more ophilia and tressa
I don't believe cait powders and octopuff pots actually do anything.
I CAN'T learn japanese so bear with me here, but I checked out Ori's journal where she talks about Harvey and Osvald's fight, and I'm pretty sure it says Harvey was defeated, not "escaped alive".
At least that makes more sense to me considering you never see him again.
why would Ori be watching them fight anyways
There are scoops elsewhere
To get one of the books needed to make the Darkblood Grimoire
Ori was tasked with gathering all the parts of the Darkblood Grimoire, which was divvied up to forward their plans by adding to their cause. To then end up taking back their parts after the travelers come to curb stomp them in their efforts. at least that is my take from the notes
Its not that it was broken up, its that the moonshade people didn't have the means or knowledge to make the book from D'arqest's corpse, but Harvey did, or they didn't have the means to complete the book of night, but Kaldena did as she had leads and a motive to kill the people who had the pages. It was more convenient for them to manipulate crazies into doing the hard part for them, then swooping in later and taking the results.
I'm retarded, where's the thief's guild? It's the only main job guild I'm missing still
visit clockbank again, you should notice something odd
oh of course, thanks anon
it's a night only guild
Is that by that webcomic artist? Or just a lookalike artist?
It's Setz.
>It's Setz.
Turns out he drew Agnea too. Very cute.
>Has an abundance hot female characters
>Most of them are either gay or taken, usually both.
It's not fair i can't fuck agnea's sister bros.
at least Agnea is straight
You just need to best Hikari
>You just need to best Hikari
>Hikari
That's not happening.
Best 2nd jobs for each character?
Sexual intercourse with Castii
how could the localizers put such dirty slurs into this game
i want a mod to allow me to escape with my 80 billion leaves
One weapon with evasion +30 and and another with +50.
Do I get +50, +80, or does it depend on my last action or something?
Yeah, that always confused me.
Last action, or I think whichever is selected if you don't do a weapon action.
you only get stat boosts from a weapon if you're actually actively "equipping" it -- if you switch to another weapon you'll instead deploy the stats for that weapon.
this is why it's important to have at least one high elemental attack weapon on your hybrids, your magic will automatically use the weapon with the highest EAtk
blacksnakes incest
has there been any confirmed incest
nope
technically no, but i mean, what was the innuendo that was pointed at Throne in her opening chapter giving her fellow blacksnake a helping hand 😉 And there is no way you have a large amount of people raised through the ages and not have to deal with the puberty and late teen horny
Yes, in chapter 4 the boss vampire dude impregnated his own daughters many times. Throne's biological mother was also his daughter.
>Throne's biological mother was also his daughter.
No she was not. He did not impregnate any of his daughter and it was not implied.
Mother implied she rapes Pirlo every now and then
Claude is bullshitting, they’re all homunculi obviously
did the clock tower boss at level 24-27. woof.
took 2 attempts, second time around I specifically equipped resists, still took me 10+ minutes and like 20+ olives.
game's a lot more fun when you're under the appropriate level
For sure. I killed the Dreadwolf boss in the level 55 side area with a party that had one level 30 and the other three split between 25-28. Probably the most hectic fight I had all game, and Arcanist Partitio+Inventor Agnea were the only reasons I won.
The game looks really beautiful and i want to play it so bad, but i dont have a lot of time to waste. Is this game a time-sink?
50-80 hours to fully complete everything depending on how much time you spend screwing around. It's not too bad.
>Is this game a time-sink?
1 hour a day for 80 days is not a lot of time.
It takes 80 hours to 100% complete the game?
It's like 50-60 hours. The game's broken up in a way where you can easily do small bits every day tbh
100% completion doesn't take that much longer
I beat all the mainstory stuff in about 32 hours, not including eg the super boss and stuff like that.
I did skip through some cutscenes because theres a huge amount of filler and repetition and extremely presictable writing.
Why did you even play if you wanted to skip the coziness?
There's really not that much filler OR repetition. I would know, I've played many JRPGs where it's a real issue....
>that epilogue
Comfy
>you will never compliment Alpione on her beautiful muscles
why live
partitio looks like my dog
cute!
Shouldn't Temenos be a bloodhound, you know because detective?
bichons are one of the smarter breeds while looking clueless and harmless. fitting for Temenos
nah, everyone expected temenos to be a twink femboy, and then turned out to be a passive aggressive agnostic asshole to everyone in power, fits the , small and cute, but is a demon inside mindset honestly
Interesting choices.
dogtopath
octopaws
Not bad.
here's my original "do not steal" pun I've been wanting to say for 4 weeks straight.
OCTOPATH IN KUMQUAT
Requires highest IQ
>2nd phase of super boss
>get instantly nuked with AOE attacks
>super tank cleric hikari barely lives with ~1000 hp
>get nuked again when reviving everyone with full hp
This difficulty spike is unreal holy shit
Do you have overheal on everyone and keep them at 9999 HP?
Is temenos the only one that can do that?
No, you are supposed to assign subjobs like Cleric to everyone and spend JP to get all the skills so you can equip their passive abilities which don't go away once you change the subjob back. You put Surpassing power and overheal on every character.
I must've missed some secret unlock in the game because I don't have overheal as a cleric passive skill. You are talking about octopath TWO right? Because I only see this mentioned on wikis for the first game.
idk what they are talking about, but Temenos gets an ex skill that is a single target heal that ignores max hp, to my knowledge that is the only way you can overheal... Hope that helps
I think he's talking about the first game, where overhealing was a passive.
Second phase is way easier if you have even just one character with A Step Ahead.
Merchant Throné, use her latent for double bestias, -7bp to everything.
While everything is stunned NUKE everything.
Which secondary job should I give each character? I haven't found that many guilds yet, but the ones I do have are:
Inventor
Warrior
Hunter
Apothecary
I know that I should give Arm-master to Hikari, but what about the rest?
Ori fanart when
I started Octopath Traveller 2 with Ochette and now I have to decide where to go. Should I head to Eastern or Western continent?
flipped a coin came up west.
Go pick up castti with her, you won't regret it
East if you want other characters who will cover all the path actions in night and day, west if you just like the characters over there more. you can get everyone and switch out anyone but ochette until you finish her story at a tavern so the order you get them doesn't change much
I loved these fuckers, can't wait to see their edgy babies
Got a weird question about the weapon lore of Octopath in the merchant manuscripts it talks about why there are only 6 weapons available from smiths, being that it is heavily controlled due to religious connotations to the gods, and to control warfare to a lesser extent. and then i got to thinking, there are 8 "good" gods, and Alfric is magic, so does dancer not have a godly weapon, is dancer the odd one out here, as it would have to share with the thief... but the divine dagger is the DANCERS BLADE, so i am a tad confused...
The gacha has a book and fan weapon which I assume is meant to represent their weapon but I dont play gacha shit
So are you even meant to be able to damage Yurinas the gladiator in the one Montwise sidequest? Cause I'm 20 levels above when I first got here and got 1 tapped before even getting a hit in
You can challenge her after doing that side quest. You get a nice accessory for doing so.
I think you're meant to comeback and challenge her again later on. IIRC she's a strength 8 enemy if you try and duel her outside of the repeatable arena challenge so you'd want to be at least that strong
It's definitely possible but I cheated and had the Tempest Amulet on in advance so I was able to tank her wind slash and stomp her
haven't done any ch4s yet, let alone endgame, but can someone tell me if the 4 secret gods even get mentioned in the lore? Kinda bugging me that in all the god references so far they only ever talk about the 8, want a balogar name drop or something
there’s a few NPCs that have dance effects when allured that name those gods
tfw you can't have Ventus Saltare Tenebrae Operiere
what does it mean if you're in the middle of an axis
Made just for women, clearly.
How so?
I never finished the first Octopath but I remember it being recommended that you collect a group of 4, beat all their stories, then go back and collect the second group and do theirs. Is that how I should approach 2? I started with Partitio so I wound up getting Hikari, Agnea, and Castti, did Castti's Chapter 2 in Sai and was going to pick up Ochette since I have to pass through her island to continue the rest, or should I just leave her for later
You can do either that or you can do all Ch1 then all Ch2 and so on. It doesn't really matter that much what specific path you take, the journey has the same destination.
I went and got everyone first, and then have been swapping out as needed. I've read people doing the method you mention and liking it, but for me I like being able to change comps and go through all the threads simultaneously, as well as reading through the chapter travel banter all in one go (even if I'm going back to read it from the journal once the chapter's over)
is it possible to make magic worthwhile compared to physical in this
you can, but it either takes decent setup, or you have to do the dungeon where you get an accessory that automatically gives you the 2nd form boost.
Magic is still quite powerful, but physical seems easier out of the box imo
the fact that you can pretty easily get a double 99k from the armsmaster axe skill kind of makes the amount of work necessary to get good damage out of osvald feel pointless
Even worse, having that equipped locks the user out of the Alephan's Wisdom buff.
Osvald can do it, it's a bit of a bitch to set up since sadly reduced enemy elemental def is hard to come by, but you can absolutely melt a motherfucker.
Other character don't have a easy time. They NEED to be scholar for Alephan. Temenos i use scholar with him because elemental barrage with his latent his 6-8 shield dropped no quesyion asked, saved me a bunch of times.
I wish Osvald got Elemental Break as an EX skill instead of teach.
Devs wanted to nerf magic after Magic Therion ripped the first game's bosses a new asshole.
I never made use of magic Therion, what'd he do that broke t?
One of the lategame daggers had a passive that increased fire potency (a lot) among other things with his kit.
iirc, it was Wildfire. He could stack so many multipliers that he would annihilate any single target. He could carry your B team for the superboss while you have Runelord Tressa carry your A team.
If I remember right the first game had a dagger that provided a multiplier for Fire attacks, and as the base Theif Therion could use that dagger in any class. What was probably meant to make his Fire attacks just usable ended up making Socerer’s three hit Fire attack super powerful.
>people keep saying Partitio and Agnea story aren't serious
isn't serious
This makes me sick
just stop being poor
a huge chunk of poverty issues is entirely your fault
Ori is watching you
I beat Galdera today and did the ending again to see if anything changes. It doesn't, but on second viewing I did notice Ori in the far back of the crowd shot in the theater.
The tooltip for enervating slash is fucked up, right? Cause I read it as you nullify the enemy's stat increases to attack, but mechanically it removes your own?
don't trust any of the tooltips
Yep that's right, plenty of other skills with messed up descriptions
is Apothecary divine skill fucked up too? I thought it says "any item used by user will then be spread to all others". but that does NOT happen.
I'm so fucking confused.
It gives a buff to an ally of your choosing that makes items they use target all allies/enemies. Very useful for using jams, or lychees.
I used it on Casti...
Maybe I fucked something up...
I thought I'd like Osvald the most since the reveals, but he's just "okay" while Castii and Partitio ended up being my favorites.
Just let her use a standard consumable item on herself when the buff's on her. That's it.
Shocked how much I like Castii.
I wasn't sure about Partitio at the beginning. When the game was first announced, I thought I'd love him but when I got him, I wasn't as happy.
For him, I swapped to English dub, trying to see if he'd have a cowboy voice. He didn't and I wasn't a huge fan, but it grew on me.
Partitio became a huge chad for me. And insanely useful. He deserves top tier.
Castti ended up being one of my favorites too. It's nice that the apothecary had a more proper final boss this around.
Absolutely. She's exceptional well written and likable. Useful too. Amnesia is a crap plotdevice but I had no issues with it this time.
They actually did a good job with two different very cliche plot devices, amensia and "character was secretly a ghost the whole time"
>Play Castti's chapter 3
>"But wait, then how did Malaya survive"
..Oh.
The way that chapter ended with Empty Memories playing.
I think she needs to extend a helping hand to my penis.
Can we please talk about how Agnea in the early chapters fights her accent, breaking the city folk talk in fits of emotion, yet she never accepts that as her true self and continues to use the false talk of hers throughout her story... like come on...
hmmmm. I understand your frustration but it didn't bother me too much. She's true to herself... ENOUGH.
I think you're right overall
Ehh it’d have to be its own sub-arc when it’s more of a personality quirk. I know her story is basically a disney movie but not everything has to be neat and wholesome; appearances clearly matter
Same also based
The "user" in this case is whoever gets the augment.
>Throne and Osvald's banter during Father's route ch 3
What the fuck, how can anyone be this autistic
its great, Osvald is just anger and autism
if he hadn't also canonically had sex, he'd perfectly represent Ganker
which one of these should i drop so i can have double cleave from the frogking
i'm thinking dreadwolf
Keep the dreadwolf. Ancient frog king isn't even that good.
depends on what is more valuable for you, 4 dagger hits or some healing
are you trying to oneshot the super boss? Anything but the bottom 3 is ok.
>Castti's ch3
I really didn't expect that sharp of a dark turn.
What setup do you guys have for Hikari's Learned Skills?
I got Crimson Slash and it's looks like it's finally time to retire Divine Dual Edge
I had Limb from Limb, Crimson Slash, Pride of Clan Mei, Deep Analysis, and Resting, Resting
didn't really get much use late from the first two, but I still liked having them
its for used items like healing grapes, not her concoct skill. the buff icon should be two items with arrows between them
>used items like grapes
Yea, that was my error the first time (which DRASTICALLY makes it less useful, in my opinion...), but even then, I saw no buff. Zero.
I'll experiment, but if you guys are telling me the tooltip is right, that's a good start.
Divine Dual Edge
Twin Serpents
That one bow attack that hits all enemies 4-8 times.
Defiant Stance
Meditate.
I was pretty lazy and never bothered to hunt down skills for him.
I got right hook. The free 2 shield break is clutch.
Honestly, once i got armsmaster, i didn't need any learned skill which is kinda sad... but if any player wants to grind the battle-tested weapons, get the axe attack from the guitar guy in Gravell at the entrance random 3-5 axe attack, quite strong and a lot of the holders are weak to axe for some reason...
Don't need armmaster, Hikari shinjumonjiguri basically deletes 80% of the game out of the box.
learned skills are nice for the multi hit skills to break enemies, there are 4-6 hit bow, sword, axe and dagger hits at least.
divine dual edge is a good skill for screenwiping trash when you're grinding exp too
Yea, I use learned skills JUST for multiattacks.
As in:
*one opponent: 3+ hits
*all oponents: unknown weapon 2+ hits
Very useful in breaks.
I tried Hikari hunter and hikari armsmaster. Both are great.
>Honestly, once i got armsmaster, i didn't need any learned skill which is kinda sad
There's plenty of extremely good skills that are worth using even after getting armsmaster, like the aoe arrow skill that hits 8 times, or Rai Mei's unique attack that hits all units once with lance and once with lightning. They're not for damage, but they're excellent for breaks and buffs.
Gotta say, I like all 8 character. Temenos is the worst but even he is interesting, especially his storyline.
>calling detective Xelloss the worst
Of the 8? he is. I still like him.
Yea. It's an improvement over 1 and has no real connection to the first. I don't think any of the negatives I had for 1 really crossed over.
worth playing if i never played 1?
theres no big connection to 1 aside from the look, mechanics, and the names of the gods
different world, different stories
Its biggest use is using full HP/SP/BP jam healing items on the whole party every turn during tough bosses. Outside of that, not really useful
Dropped the first game, are you still locked to keeping the first character you pick in the party? If so is there a best choice for this? Was thinking of going Thief (leader), Cleric, Mage, Warrior.
Yep, just like last time.
Yep, still locked (till you finish their story. Then it's free). I think Hikari is the safest option but none of them causes issues. You legit have THREE spots open and flexible. There's no way to put yourself in a bad position.
Huh? There are double classes so your starting class can be anything you want. Anyone can be any class you want. Did you not play the game more than 2 hours??
I'm bored is this game fun
I'm absolutely loving it.
>osvald's chapter 4

Hardcore sex with Castti.
Made her dancer first chance I could. Not for the perks, but for the dress.
I like how she looks as a cleric.
I made her a Thief because of the outfit
Honestly, she looks great in everything.
I wanted to make her a hunter because of the ears.
Same, but hunter.

With how much focus the Moon gets throughout the game, from either direct naming, references in names like Tsuki and Yomi, dungeon names, the eclipse in Ochette's story, the focus on the stars in one of the crossed paths, and just how blatantly the moon is framed in some areas like Lostseed, I was expecting the final boss to either be on the moon, or actually be the moon. Little disappointed that didn't happen.
How do I donate to Agnea's onlyfans?
>Getting my ass kicked by a boss in the early game
>Cast Bewildering Dance with 3 BP
>First two dances nuke my own party with exploding ground
>welltimetoreloadiguess
>Last spin summons a monster that knocks out the boss in a single 9999 punch when I've been doing 100-300 damage so far
lmao, I think I'm starting to understand why gambling is so addictive
Just started this game yesterday. Picked Throne' as my starter because she made my dick hard but she feels like the worst character so far. If the enemy isn't weak to swords knives or darkness she basically does nothing. Did my dick steer me wrong?
Throne is very, very good, but she takes a while to get going. Plus you need subclasses.
She has a solid ''support'' kit and she's pretty good with warrior or hunter subclasses.
She's quite tough! She's got solid physical stuff. And as others said, subclasses help.
She's really good in my opinion.
She's good for:
Aeber's Reckoning is BIG damage. Probably the easiest to use win button in the game. Just equip all speed gear.
Her first EX skill renders physical attacker enemies (the majority of enemies) impotent
Armor Corrosive (but there's tons of ways to apply def down in this game so that specific way is less useful than it was in OT1) But the big thing here is she can set herself up with her latent to apply it and then immediately Aeber's Reckoning.
She's pretty good.
Is there a list of side dungeons and their level reqs?
Maybe not yet, but you can google and hope and pray. There ARE dungeons
Picked Temenos to start. I still hate the Hunter class and benched Ochette so far.
Anyone I should try to give a secret job to? I remember Runemaster Tressa breaking the first game, anything similar?
Armsmaster to Hikari
Also Hunter is great, you just haven't captured a good monster. Hunter is top tier from day 1.
Hunter is twice as useful as it was in the first game because they gave it an actual damage move and also a dispell, but yes it's one of the weaker classes.
But Ochette is bonkers because they fixed the way captures work and there's tons on utility in the capture pool
Maybe other builds are much better, but I'm at around level 25 rn and Ochettes latent power saved my ass more than once
Also her japanese voice is cute as fuck
>GAOOOOOO...tehe
It can't make out what she says sometimes when you buff her or give her BP but its super cute. Its something like "CHAKIIII!" Also love the "Rudodododo" when you charge to 4x
Are nuts permanent or just in battle buffs?
Have you considered trying it and finding out? Playing the game maybe?
No.
Tanzy deserved it.
Is it me or is enervating slash broken?
It never gets rid of positive status effects and seems to cause almost no damage
badly translated, it get rids of your buffs to increase the damage dealt.
its not badly translated its wrong in the japanese text as well.
No. It's 100% badly translated.
It works based on the buffs on the character that uses it and not on the buffs that are on the target.
It's one of many completely incorrect tooltips. the localization really fucked up.
The good news is you can have Hikari learn Risk it All and use him to apply all 8 status increases to another warrior on your team at the same time for easy powered up Enervating Slashes
...that's fucking retarded, thanks
What is a good subclass for Agnea?
I tried cleric and arcanist but both seem kinda bad.
Inventor is the only subclass that makes her usable.
What a shame.
I guess she'll have to walk around with that retarded hat then...
She was amazing for me during the story. She can allure a level 10 sword npc that deal 20k damage to a shield broken boss for her without using a boost so she can use all her bp to break the shield or pass buffs. Or she can allure the level 9 one and heal hp and sp with her dances, run her as an armsmaster and then heal off all sp used on the dance attack just spamming that over and over not using sp at all. I had fun with her.
Her latent with the Arkane Coil is pretty fun. max it out for a full party full heal on everything, BP included.
conjurer
People said she's good with magic, so I gave her scholar till midgame.
It's an acceptable choice actually. Not the best for late game. You'll probably replace it for a secret job though.
But honestly? It's not bad.
I wanted to make her a merchant and attempt to give everyone loads of BP during her latent ability. Maybe next time.
cleric for a party wide def mdef buff that lasts 9 turns will make the main game very comfortable. Alternatively you can give a desparation shield to everyone
scholar could be decent for mass inquire. Like when you try to explore high level regions, you inquire everyone, break, and run from enemies to get high level chests or reach all the cities.
>Ochette and Thorne capture Temenos
I gave her merchant and just set her to work pumping my heavy hitters full of BP
The thing is that Inventor can do that and more. By giving her BP Boost, Step Ahead, and Full Power, you can have her start every battle by boosting twice to use arkar's coil with her latent power on the first turn. She will heal HP and SP of every character by 80% and give them 3 BP (including herself). On the first real turn, everyone will have full BP, except for her, who will have 3bp to use Sealticge's Seduction on your damage dealer, like Armsmaster to use their Axe move to wipe random encounters. Agnea becomes a one character one turn set up that frees up a skill slot from everyone else who no longer needs to equip vigorous victor to restore SP/HP.
i usually fill her with the job that i need for fighting, whether that is hunter for leghold trapping, thief for armor corroding, scholat to advanced magics/alfrics wisdom others. Dancer IS support, but because of it you can make her work with a lot of things. Inventor can be good, gives her access to catapult aoe, Geneva convention hammer, magic bottle breaker, and much more that she can use for free in battles, while also ahving the innate dancer quirks.
inventor or scholar
Playing Octopath 2 is just making me hyped for the hypothetical 3rd entry where the characters actually have a bunch of chapters together and every character has a cool arc and story.
I think OT2 is a great step forward. I wonder if they'll do that you want though. It WOULD be nice. I think the dynamic between characters could be amazing.
I'm looking forward to OP6 set in a cyberpunk dystopia where everyone still uses the same 6 weapon types
>that banter patitio has about agnes' peaches
Every character has chapters fighting their demons and struggling against this unjust world and meanwhile Agnea is just acting like a gigastacy and slutting around in the big city....
>Ooccttooppaatthh traveler 3
>Everyone is back
>purple chests are back and only Therion can open them
No spoilers pls, but is there a big finale where all the travelers interact with each other or do the seperate stories also end seperatly
maybe
Yes. To both questions.
Did anyone ever pick the fox for Ochette?
The owl always felt best.
There are several anons who went with the jackal.
If I were to replay this game later, I'd pick the fox. I think it'd be better if I had him as a follower.
I picked fox, it's pretty good.
Really? What does it do? I thought it would just be a dagger attack.
It attacks weapon weaknesses
Oh, so owl is magic weakness, fox is weapon.
Fox will also attack broken enemies with his finisher whereas Owl will only use finisher if every enemy is broken at once.
Ooooh, that's a shame.
I did because fuck birds
doubt owl also has such a nice voice unless they have the same voicefiles
but owls arent birds
next thing you're gonna say that moon is clouds
No, silly. That's the sun.
The owl is a female.
>exploded the final boss in a few turns
so this is the power of aeber's
>Take Throne
>Feed her every speed nut
>Clothe her in all the speed armour
>Give her the highest damage dagger I can find
>Cast Aebers with phs-boost
damage, boss removed from existence before the first turn cycle is over
SPEEDFORCE IS A HELL OF A THING, BARRY
How did you guys explore the world? I have Temenos and Osvald now. Kinda wondering if I should get Throne and Ochette before I fully explore the Eastern Continent or should just keep entering new maps before getting the other 2.
Why not pick up 2 more, so you have a full party and they all level up together?
I prioritized grabbing EVERYONE right off the bat, so that's what I worked at the entire time. Not very hard luckily.
When you say everyone do you mean you picked up all 8 of them first before fully exploring?
>Why not pick up 2 more, so you have a full party and they all level up together?
I guess it just sucks that I need to beeline for the others before fully exploring the region I'm currently in.
Yea, all 8
You said "fully explore Eastern continent". That's a lot. And not what you're supposed to do. I mean, go ahead. Explore, but don't venture into super high level places.
You asked waht I did and I told you. You don't HAVE to get 2 more but it might be good. But sure, go ahead, explore if you want. You'll be stopped in many places simply by the levels.
How does 2 compare to 1?
Worse, same or better?
Exceptionally better.
Pretty much in all aspects. And that seems to be agreed upon by everyone playing.
MAYBE the music in the first one was better, but that's not to say 2 doesn't have great music.
I think you could argue that some people might like the first game's characters more, but I really do love all of 2's characters so I can't make this argument personally
I just finished all the Ch1 stories. Are there any recommendations for teams?
I started with Oswald and want to use Throne. Who works good with them?
Honestly, with subclasses, any team is good.
You probably want a team that can break any shield. So a person who has weapons and a person with magic.
In general, I focus a heavy melee hitter and a heavy magic user.
First is usually Hikari or Thorne (though Ochette isn't bad either. and Partitio can do it too)
Second is Oswald or Temenos. Agnea can do it as well
Then I can fill in with whichever support I want. So Partitio who can give BP or make money
Or Agnea who can boost stats
Or Castii who can buff or debuff. She's also a powerful tank.
Ochette is a wild card (or at least for me she was). Can be used for many things.
Thinking about your team: Thorne and Oswald
Maybe you'd benefit from Partitio for his weapons and Temenos for staff/light.
Will give you healing as well. You can gift Oswald BP to sweep.
That's my two cents and i am ignoring subclasses completely, as you seem early on.
>2.1% of PS5 players have defeated Galdera
So how easy does the Ochette bug make things and do you think they'll actually patch it?
>Replying to obvious trolls
octopath traveler 3 should have 16 characters whose first letters in their names spell out both octopath and traveler
Hexadecapath Traveler
Can only be kino, right?
don't lie, are you better or worse at this game than Kacho?
>Top guy
Oh shit, is that who I think it is? he's gotten old...
Also, reminds me that the twitch channel that streamed that show is gone...
https://vaughn.live/hawk7713
every time it's back on twitch they take it back down soon after
niiiice, thanks
Do i need to play the first to get the second?
Not at all. Beyond minimal connections.
Man this game is so enjoyable it really makes me want more of this game but im running out of things to do
Yea, I really like the characters so I'm gonna be sad when the game is over. I'm pretty damn happy with it.
I like how most of the stories have good story structures. A little bit of ESB in most of them, where we have a darkest turn, before the end.
Did you play Octo 1? You could always do that.
So which path story is arguably the best? I'm enjoying the cleric one so far surprisingly
yea, Cleric being so good was a surprise for me too. Didn't see it coming.
Honestly, most of them have something interesting or enjoyable, so it's hard to compare, as they tend to be a different enough.
In fact, I don't think I CAN pick. Osvald and Temenos I guess might be the winner?
I liked Temenos the most. He's the only guy whose engagement with the story actually makes sense the whole way through to the end, where the other characters really have no reason to stick around (or even join the party to begin with...) after the group helps them finish their personal quest.
Osvald was fun, just because of his insane the antagonist was, but Osvald himself is a wet towel.
Ochette is a dumb character with a dumb story, but it works in her favour. Because she's so pure and innocent her corny lines don't come off as corny.
Partitio is Ochette done worse, where he bumbles around like the protagonist in a tv show for toddlers and everything just works out for him in the end for no reason.
Castti's story was pretty meh, but her combat emotes are the best in the game so she gets high marks just for that.
Agnea was cringe, but I liked it in spite of myself, and the final battle song was kino.
Throne was utter grabage and would've been the worst if not for the absurdity of the twist at the end. If you actually liked it up to that point, I guess the twist would actually be a bad thing, but it made it so silly for me that I enjoyed it.
Hikari is a walking archetype and wooden as a board, extremely boring, my least favourite by far.
Hikari's is basically a footnotes version of Fire Emblem.
That's some pretty bad taste.
Your take on Osvald means you never did his party banter?
This. Osvald is super nice in many of his banters.
>Your take on Osvald means you never did his party banter?
Osvald made me genuinely mad. Every single time he's within reach of Harvey, he just stands there and looks at him impassively until Harvey casually strolls away. And then Osvald immediately starts seething about how he's totally gonna kill Harvey. Then he meets him again and just stands there. This goes on for several chapters and flashbacks. And then at the end he beats him just because "I dunno", that's literally how he wins. He doesn't know, he doesn't understand. It just happens because otherwise he bad guy would've won. If you liked this story or character you are a fag.
I remember Osvald only meeting Harvey like twice in his story, both boss battles
Yea, he's full of shit.
you forgot to mention he's a cuck who saw his daughter call another man daddy
does it count if Harvey is his property
yes, it just means he's into it
They only meet three times between the house fire and their final fight. The first time is immediately after the fire and Osvald is arrested on the spot by the city guard. The second time, Osvald just got done killing a giant golem and is stunned out of his wits by seeing his daughter alive but completely brainwashed, and the third time they meet, they fight to the death.
The third time they meet is after Osvald decides that revenge is stupid and makes it his purpose to save his daughter.
I have no idea what the fuck the other Anon is going on about if he misinterpreted Osvald's story this fucking badly
As I said, ALL his takes were wrong, I just focused on the first one because it was the first one.
Partitio's 3rd chapter for example, is highest kino, as he visits old cities for stuff. And you can pick WHICH sidequest to brag about.
Don't forget the the golem was built out of his wife's corpse.
>"Thinking time!"
Osvald is such a fucking dork i love him
why is he so smug
So given that Octopath 2 went a bit more modern with it's world, I wonder how much further ahead Octopath 3 (if we even get it) will be? Would be interesting to see what classes they would make I can see Warrior being a martial artist or something
Going to finally start, should I pick Temenos, Osvald or Throné as the protagonist?
Osvald.
I'd go for Osvald or Throne. Osvald to not have to worry about finding every enemy weakness ever. And Throne is great support with fantastic aoe damage with speed+thief divine skill and steal is good
Oh, and mostly just interested about the story and characterization.
Why not Temenos?
Temenos is good too honestly. He's cool as fuck in his story
Going off those, definitely Osvald or Temenos. Do you prefer ultra logical man driven to revenge, or snarky inquisitor that doubles as a detective?
temenos would have been the next best choice after osvald, but the best choice is osvald
So finally at the last final chapters I need.
Agnea, Hikari, Cassti, and Partitio
Anyone in particular I should go to first? I'm aware the final secret class is locked behind Hikari, but I also know the Battle-Tested shield is locked behind Agnea(I don't plan to grind for a bunch of them unless I have to).
Agnea because her last chapter was surprisingly good. I wasn't fond of her story before that but final chapter had kino
Sounds good enough to me
Just got the game, am I supposed to clear everyone's first levels and then move on?
Who's the best to start with?
Ochette starts in the middle of the map and you can go anywhere you like after that. Having her in the party for most of the game means you'll stockpile a large amount of very useful food from her passive.
You can do the chapters in whatever order you like.
Thanks
You can do whatever, honestly.
I mean that literally.
You obviously benefit from having variety in your team so you would have a reason to collect the party members, but it's not necessary.
Hikari - armsmaster
Agna - Theif/Merchant
Ochette - Warrior, strictly for the stats
Osvaldo - Arcanist
Partitio - Inventor
Castii - Conjurer
Tememos - Scholar
Throne - doesn't matter, she's godlike herself.
These are the meta combinations. You cannot dispute them.
>Agna - Theif/Merchant
I am disputing this.
With merchant, you can have her give everyone BP. And since she's support, if you have an offturn, you can make money. (I didn't make her a merchant, but i get it)
>He doesn't want to lower all foes attack/defense
>He doesn't want to hit all foes and get MASSIVE jP boosts
>He doesn't want to collect/steal from all foes at once
>He doesn't want Agnea in the cutest outfit
Shit taste confirmed
>calls merchant outfit with the stupid hat the cutest outfit
>says other people have shit taste
???
Castii is warrior for the aggro spell
Merchant Throné is godly
Partitio is thief, because he is literally Joseph joestar with the thief skin
You are the first person I've seen who made Partitio a thief.
Besides me of course.
I think he works amazingly as one.
>mfw ozvald chapter 4
I am currently playing Octopath Traveler 1 as a thief and was wondering if OT2 had combat that was long drawn out like the first game. I mean, this game fucking DRAGS on regardless if you know your opponents weaknesses or not
I feel like this game is easier to break than the first, especially since inventor shreds all random encounters up until end-game
Haven't experienced it much and I'm nearly done. Some fights can be long but you can also easily overlevel.
Octopath 2 fights aren't going to be much faster if you don't know how to exploit the battle system to your advantage. Buff your offense, debuff enemy defense, max boost when the boss is Broken and more. Lategame they only die faster if you know how to abuse Divine Skills.
Hired Help is also practically a win button so there's that too, they somehow made it even more broken in Octo 2.
99% of the bosses in 2 die in 1 hit and the fights only goes on as long as they do because the game doesn't let you kill them until they've gone through their mid fight dialogue.
having to wait a turn or two doesn't extend the boss fight for that much longer tbh
Just stop playing games, lol.
No. Untameable, nothing to steal, etc. Just for kills
Oh good, thanks for the reply, you're all based. My entire party got 2 levels each after I beat him, really fun fight. Loving this game like crazy.
In fact as othere anon said, there's a lot of bosses around that you can find again once you beat them. ( and then capture with ochette )
>Loving this game like crazy
You're telling me. I've stopped myself multiple times and told myself "FUCK, I'm loving this"
I'm shocked, it might be my most fun game in 2 years or so.
>no subjob on Throne
?
I have no clue what to do with her, or Partitio for that matter, I legit don't click any inventor abilities, I just think that being an inventor suits him. Also Temenos looks like a proper detective as a scholar.
I'm shocked because I had to drop the first one because it was so boring to me. Thankfully I pirated it, but I bought this one and don't regret it one bit. I've played like 8 hours non stop today.
If anything, you could give her a class your team currently doesn't have for some versatility. The change in stats wouldn't be that severe.
The devs also took the critiques to heart from the first game. The added stuff to do is also a bonus when OT1's fights felt too straightforward in comparison.
That's not even my actual team, it would be Ochette, Castti, Osvald and Partitio. I challenged this shark before going to bed just to see how strong he was. But Throne and Temenos surprised me with how useful they are.
Eh, why not.
I made her a warrior and it worked out well for me.
>Partitio is a MILF destroyer
I kneel
She's not a MILF. She just acts like a mother. Which makes her hotter.
If anything, Castti would be destroying Partitio's ass
>"No mercy, ONLY PAIN!"
So, something is bugging me about a certain side story.
You know Al? As in, Alfred Hornberg? Seeing how he vanishes into light after you beat Galdera, I suspect that it's actually his spirit returned from the dead just to keep Galdera in his wage cage. Is that a valid take, or am I on the wrong track?
Personally, i'm acting under the safe assumption that it's an alternate universe type scenario. But it's left pretty vague otherwise.
I took it literally, Orsterra and Solticia are different worlds.
Basically Galdera tried to Isekai himself for dear life and Alfred followed him.
Finally got the ship after getting everyone and doing a couple of chapter 2s. Figured I'd creep around some of the obscenely higher level areas I could get into and got curbstomped by some weakness adapting dragon in a nest. Anyone got some tips for it when I go back to it? I managed to struggle my way past the shark and the monster in the whirlpool but that thing wrecks me so hard that a handful of levels ain't gonna cut it.
Multi-hit skills with a single weapon/element type and skills/items that reduce shield points without hitting weaknesses are your friends here. You will want to minimize the number of weak points the dragon adapts to before you break it, and you want to deal the most damage you can while it's broken.
Bros I want some more 2DHD kino, is triangle strategy any good at all? I heard it is VERY story heavy and can be a slog at times
it's a very dialogue heavy fft/tactics ogre type trpg. the live a live remake was also great.
>the live a live remake was also great.
Is it noticeably better than the original Super Famicom game I emulated back in 2010?
yes
More or less the same including the soda bottle in the prehistory chapter with some qol touch ups and one extra bit at the end: new final boss that features all 7 heroes + Oersted deals the finishing blow.
There's some censorship unfortunately in the western, china and near future chapters.
Other than that, the voice acting adds quite a lot, dub Oersted being a stand out.
Triangle strategy is great. The first few chapters do have a lot of cutscenes establishing the world and characters but the pacing gets better after that.
story has a slow start as all the gunpowder gets built up but gets really good.
the graphics can be a little muddy at times because they didn't go to the trouble of making sure that the pixels stayed crisp regardless of camera angle/distance. this might not bother you unless you have autism like I do
you have to enjoy tactics though. It's not like FFT where you can kinda bruteforce through it by leveling up your characters, you gotta really engage with the tactics part of the gameplay. or you can just set difficulty to easy
Triangle Strategy is excellent, I'd even put it above both Octopath games.
It's amazing. The BEGINNING is storyheavy. It takes like 3 chapters to set shit up and then it becomes far more balanced with gameplay.
but it's a good story, so its worth it. The setup is necessary.
Gameplay is great.
bouncing off this post: tactics ogre: reborn is very good too. This goes to the other extreme. VERY gameplay heavy, where late game battles can go on forever.
I recommend both
Who’s the best mage in this?
Partitio gets BP out the wazoo from his Latent Power so doesn't have weird rhythm issues like Osvald has
>fight the foreign assassins
>get EXP x5
>get JP x2
>Eh not bad, I'll take it
>Entire party rockets from 30-33 to 45-47
Holy fuck, that's a little higher than I wanted to be, but fuck it, that works.
>can now select foreign assassins when using Hired Help
Wait, since when was that a thing? There anyone else I could've done this with too?
you can do it with everyoen yes, i had no merchant in the party when i fought them.
I meant more if there's anyone else I can add to the Hired Help list or if it's just the assassins.
just the assassins. use them and see if you can think of any effects more op than them
Yeah that seems pretty good.
POISON SLASH
AXE ATTACK
Favorite girl?
Agena, she and Hikari are cute together.
Partitio, he's pretty much a girl
I ask myself everyday.
I think I'd marry Castti
But Agnea and Thorne are great pics.
The writers of Thorne, NOT making her an edgelord, were smart. This is an overdone trope. Well done.
Agnea seems really joyful and fun. (and big tits).
You can't lose honestly in any girl.
What about Ochette?
I only think of women as marriage material because I'm an evil evil man.
Ochette's my daughter though. To be protected and raised well.
And if she teaches me how to make good jerky, all the better.
I like all characters honestly.
Yeah they're all fun.
I want to commit bestiality with Ochette
Guys I need help, I just fought the huge shark that was blocking the path in the sea, is that the one that Ochette can capture? I didn't even think I was strong enough to beat him, it was just a for fun attempt. It also said he was untamable.
I think you can find it as a random encounter in the sea
All the special overworld/dungeon bosses can be randomly encountered and then tamed after you beat them once.
So now that you beat the shark, you may encounter him as a random encounter and then he will be tameable.
What is up with these vague or straight up wrong descriptions of skills.
Step Ahead doesn't just make you act first it gives an entire separate turn which also effectively makes your entire party start with 2BP as long as one has the skill.
Or the warrior "buff delete" skill that says it purges enemy buffs but it actually purges yours.
>Step ahead
THAT'S WHAT IT WAS?!
Fucking shit. I couldn't figure out what was causing it.
A lot of skills in this game are mistranslated. I personally am still confused as to why Heighten Senses still exists when Step Ahead gives you a guaranteed first turn. Does it affect turn order instead?
This is the devs' implication that some people wouldn't find/use the inventor or its skills.
I like Ochette because she has the same diet as me
Raw meat?
I wish there was a 1.5x battle speed, 2.0x is a bit too fast :/
Yeah me too.
2x just is a little bit too fast where it looks kinda bad in some situations but 1x is just way too slow...
2x for mobs and 1x for boss fights and duels
realistically how much longer do we have until Octopath threads die out
Give or take a few weeks.
2 weeks. Maybe 3.
Anyone regret their choice of main character?
A little bit. Only because when I started, I was debating between Agnea and Partitio. And it turns out Agnea has the most protagonist feel out of all the characters.
I'm still glad I picked Partitio because I love him
Nope. It was a tossup between Oswald, Partitio and Hikari.
I picked Hikari because it seemed like a safe option. And he carried very well.
All characters do very well. So honestly you hate support or other types of characters, should be no issue.
Nope, Hikari was my man through and through.
Only because Osvald doing 8000x2 damage trivializes bosses so I kinda go out of my way to *not* do that.
Osvald's actual story has been great.
>first cutscene of the game is controlling top chad aelfric against final boss
Nope.
>Look at the loading screen
One candle went out
Bros...?
Fuck, which character did you curse?
I noticed it earlier, but wasn't sure if it was significant at all.
go back to sucking dicks on reddit
Thinking of making groups out of the crossed paths pairings and just doing all of their stories to the end together without meeting the other 4 and then doing the other 4 after. Is that retarded?
not really. play the game the way you want to
keep in mind gear is extremely important so if you want an actual difficulty curve with your 2nd set don't equip the endgame gear from your 1st set
Good advice, end game shit is way too powerful. Battles aren't scaled to level so much; very heavily tied to gear
I think some of the crossed paths are dependent on three or so stories being completed
>Dolcinaea suddenly grows wings and starts flying
The smug attitude and "dohoho"ing makes me almost want to ignore this.
when her sprite suddenly sprouted wings then launched me into battle i was like excuse me what
More or less what I did yeah.
Though now I see the fabric she's holding with her other hand and now I picture she's just swinging around like Spiderman.
It's all just stage play, she doesn't actually become an angel.
But she already is
she's holding onto a ribbon in her battle sprite, I think that's what holding her up
she's like those aerial dancers you see in circuses and theaters, pretty cool
I got Throne-Arcanist, Ochette-Armsmaster and Temenos-Scholar. What is a nice 4th member that fits with this?
Feed BP to everyone with Partitio or Castti.
Castti sounds good, which subjob would you recommend?
Thief or Dancer
which character is the most protagonist?
Hikari
Temenos
Agnea, no contest
only character with a unique final boss theme for their story, title drop at the end of the game, grows out her hair after the end too
It's obviously Temenos
Is who leaves last, after the epilogue, determined by who the starting character was? It was Temenos for me in both cases, so I don't know if that's because he was the first char or if he's naturally the last to leave. But it makes sense for him to be the last, since his goal is the goal of the group, unlike everyone else's (whose goals are, at best, tangibly related to judging the gods for their misbehaviour).
I picked Hikari as my protagonist, and he was the last one to leave the camp in the epilogue.

Hikari. Partitio is a close second.
Temenos, story wise at least and he's two faced enough to get along with anyone.
Oboro, of course. His is the story of how the demon god destroys the world!
Osvald
Man I regret doing Osvald, Throne, Temenos and Ochette stories first.
Now the others all feel like boring garbage.
Like I can't really bring myself to care about Agneas dancing or Hikaris "I fight for my friends" nonsense
Also the path actions of the western team suck and a lot of chapters don't even have a dungeon or boss?
It honestly feels like the game would have been better as quadropath traveler.
Hikari is the only bad one. Castti is easily the best story, Agnea's is unironically up there as one of the best and Partitio's story has a lot of great shit
Hikari, Agnea, and Castii all have phenomenal final chapters. Hikari's rivals Ochette in difficulty and is also super kino, albeit jrpg generic Agnea legit made me tear up, and Castii has a nice twist. Partitio isn't terrible, but I felt his final chapter was the weakest.
plus you have the final chapter and side story to look forward to.
>Partitio's story is just him indirectly causing inflation
>ackshually it's the POOR PEOPLE who cause inflation and not the elite who own 99% of all wealth!!
You've been propagandized.
I love my globalist boyfriend very much!
He's a commie not a globalist, the globalist would be Roque.
Is the true ending locked behind a bunch of side quests like in the original, or is it just tied to completing the character and crossed path stories?
just the main character quests
>Mugen starts screaming after I dealt as much as damage as I could during break
>he kills Temenos in two hits and kills Agnea and Throne with that arrow rain attack
>Partitio's barely alive with like 20-something hp
>Mugen dies to poison tic
I wasn't expecting that.
The final bosses are all scripted to survive anything with a single HP if they haven't done their talking+music change part yet
How much of an improvement is this one over 1? I really enjoyed the main campaign of 1 my first time through but I hated the path to get to the true final boss and never touched the game since beating it. Is it still the case that you need to use everyone equally because of no shared XP?
There are much easier ways and exploits to level grind now, and the true final boss is built into the story so the scaling matches what everyone should be after all of the 8 final chapters > paired chapters > final endgame chapters. Superboss is another issue altogether.
I'd say its a massive improvement overall but, yea, no shared exp
everything you liked about the original is vastly better. Characters have more life to them, graphics are better, music is still rockin, jobs got remixed better. Plotlines are a bit deeper and have more chapters.
Anything you didn't like about the first game probably hasn't been fixed.
If you loved the first, you'll love++ this one. If you didn't like the first you might not like this one.
No shared XP but if you complete the stories for four characters together then swap them out for the other four and complete theirs you'll end up at the level you need to be.
>then swap them out for the other four
I don't like this one because the secondary party feels like an afterthought.
WHERE DO I GO TO ENDGAME GRIND FUCK
Sadly the best is the dungeon under the wall, you unlock it by walking over the bridge with 7 or more people, so you gotta have the recruit squad, but that is the lvl 55 dungeon, which has a boss, a strong unique item and license unlock item as well. Enjoy the grind
Neat that owns
thankfully you only need to take that party once to open the dungeon
Osvald > Castti > Temenos > Ochette > Partitio > Agnea > Throne > Hikari
hmmmm
Edmund is hot
No he's not
