Lads...
Now post the princess in love with her gardener.
That princess was actually a pretty good summon for me, multi-dagger and triple fire is a good combo.
>/ss/ with a tomboy princess
To be fair, there's a lot of dark/ messed up flavor text when scrutinizing in this game.
That said, /ss/ is top tier fap material.
It flat out says they dont even love each other.
It says they don't know true love yet but they will with the power of /ss/
>Beat the game
>Feel empty inside because its over
you grieve because it was so good
It's time for some questioning!
I really like a lot of the lines they used as well as the battle and post battle ones. Ochette's AWOOO~! never gets old. I also noticed, at least for Throne, that characters have specific max boost quotes against their story bosses. I'll have to remember to try it out for the other characters and see. She's usually the only one I have max boosting for Aeber's, so that's probably why I didn't see it for any of the others yet.
speaking of story bosses ochette can apparently capture some of them
You can capture Tera but I don't know if you have to or if it just ends the battle quicker
You're forced to since Tera and Glacis are locked to have a minimum of 1hp in their fights.
I heard you can go back into some dungeons to fight bosses again for captures, but i've only tried with Roque's factory and the doggo boss didn't show back up.
Correct, but it's best not to fill your lineup with them, unless you're planning to boost spam. Boss captures can only be summoned at max boost, and usually only once per battle
Unless you use the Provoke bug.
IVE GOT MORE GRIT THAN I CAN HANDLE
Anybody who speaks nip who would be willing to translate some of the battle cries?
I refuse to play with english voices, everybody sounds like a bored teenager, regardless of age or what's happening
i only know a little bit of jap from consuming media and from what I'm hearing they have a lot of contextual dialogue like Temenos praising Crick when he breaks enemies in his chapter 1 (he uses his "lost lamb" nickname) or having specific lines relating to their story bosses like Throne with Father
I just wanna know what Ochette screams at max boost
something something kono peco-da?
havent used Ochette outside her ch1 but half her win quotes are some variations "i'm hungry" or "i want to eat"
>havent used Ochette outside her ch1
gay
I'd take a bored teenagers over typical JP voice acting tbh
JP voices are actually good for once. Even Ochette, the character you'd expect to have a grating screechy "moe" voice, is actually pleasant to listen to.
Also JP Osvald sounds like ear sex.
Ochette was such a surprise. The character I expected to be the worst ended up being charming as hell.
>GAOOOOOOOOOO...he he!
I like her awoos better
JP Castti sounds like a grandma without teeth.
>Missing out on DIO BRANDO as HARVEY
Ochette: 20
Castti: 29
Throne: 23
Osvald: 38
Partitio: 24
Agnea: 18
Temenos: 30
Hikari: 21
According to the wiki
>Temenos: 30
This is the most surprising one for me, wouldn't have guessed he was older than Castii.
Temenos is 30 wtf? He looks very young
He drinks babies blood.
very cute
Trolling people keeps him young.
This, Harvey and Dolcinea voices are pure kino
I like that cleric twink and also everyone else, they're really fun
Feeding Ochette my meat!
>on my way to the solo ruins
>fail to run from a couple of ants half my level three turns in a row
why do they want to get squished so bad
Anyone have the Partitio image that's like, "Just learned about poverty. That really sucks."
you bet
Is there any good reason to buy the boat? Is there a lot of stuff to do at sea that you can’t access without the boat?
You need the boat to complete the game
What the fugg really
100k is surprisingly easy to gather, anon
Okay partitio
>stealing
>whoring
>mugging
>getting superior gear from diving into filthy hellholes instead of buying it in shops like a chump
>collecting from richfag bosses
>Agnea AoE collect from mobs
>guy in the Merchant's guild that saves you 30% on all purchases
>lady in Oresrush that gives you a 25% bonus on all sales
>Prosperity Charm
>Grows on Trees

>Full Power
>A Step Ahead
>Cait Powder
>More Rare Monsters
>Hired a man with 30% More Profit from Collect
These are trying times, and my wife needs 50 more Diffusing Serum. Please understand.
>Hired a man with 30% More Profit from Collect
where? highest i could find was 20% i think. or 25%, but certainly not 30%
>100k
Bro, your hire... don't pay more than 70k for the boat.
You have to buy the boat to get to Partitio's ch 4, so it's required.
I will not lie I was losing my mind for this whole fight, absolutely incredible VA work, music, setting, fight mechanics
better the second time around cause I got blown the fuck out when his super triggered post mid-fight cutscene
>discover the element of love
>too autistic to realize it's love
It was pretty good.
https://files.catbox.moe/uyw6gg.mp3
>mfw english dub sounds like a sitcom dad
I think it's hilarious that if you're not fast enough during the second half of the battle, Harvey's set-up attack outright kills him, just like in the cutscene.
Meanwhile, Kaldena reads her lines in the most monotone way.
The dub is good, but some actors really fucked up their lines.
Dub discrepancies are obviously much for obvious.
Yes. But that's not for a long time and grinding is actually easier in this game.
>But that's not for a long time
Is it required for the superboss or final battles?
superboss yes chapter finales no
gear will carry you through nearly all the bosses in the game, for the superboss you'll need to figure out some broken combo (try doing it on your own instead of checking the internet, it's more fun), or squeeze extra efficiency out of a dozen or so more levels
https://www.saveeditonline.com/
It can read OT2 saves. Cut out the time waste and give yourself the EXP for lvl 999
ooOOOOOOOSUUBARUDOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH
i think it's hilarious that alrond's 80 billion actually shows up in your bank account
which do you guys think had the better overall outfits for each sub job? personally:
>Hunter: 2
>Apothecary: 1, barely
>Thief: Tie
>Scholar: 2, barely
>Merchant: 2
>Dancer: 1
>Cleric: 1
>Warrior: 2
I'm just glad scholar didn't make everyone look like a hobo like Osvald.
If we grow many animals in cages and then put them in a butchering machine we can maximize the amount of jerky that is produced
let her cook
I just started as Castii, she feels quite nice to have as a Salvemaker/Chemist in a pinch while being able to lay down some hurt when needed. Throne subbing Dancer started off strong for me but she feels a bit MP reliant and the speed stacking gimmick doesn't compare to the versatility that Ochette subclassing Warrior has. My last member is Partitio as a Merchant/Scholar to sweep random encounters and lay some magic damage down or BP battery for Caits/Octopuffs/bosses.
Throne really shines with the Inventor for obvious reasons and crazy enough Conjurer. Abusing her latent power to stack two elements on everyone's weapons absolutely wrecks anything with two elemental weaknesses.
Sounds wild and reminds me of the shenanigans Runemaster did in the first game. I'm still pretty early in and haven't found any secret jobs yet, let alone get all the licenses with my party sitting at around 28-30. Are those off the beaten path as usual or locked behind side quests?
Inventor aside all the other secret jobs you will find in level 45+ areas. Normal jobs are learned often found in the second cities from the starting ones or along the way to them. The hunter class for example is on the path between her starting city and the other city northeast in Toto'haha.
one of the secret jobs is incredibly early, outside one of the starting towns
the other 3 are lategame, in 3rd tier areas, two of them are behind sidequests, one of which requires you to beat Hikari's story first, and the third is in a somewhat hidden dungeon
>Inventor for obvious reasons
I don't know how inventor works, why is she a good inventor?
I didn’t know those stacked. I thought the newer element would overwrite the previous one.
>Abusing her latent power to stack two elements on everyone's weapons absolutely wrecks anything with two elemental weaknesses.
those don't stack
The difficulty getting the OST is surreal to me in 2023.
>CD is out-of-stock and on a watchlist on the SE website
>Apple Music and iTunes pages are region-locked
>No torrents up
>Youtube videos for them keep getting taken down
Am I missing something here? Any route to get the audio files themselves instead of streaming it?
>No torrents up
bro it's on nyaa
Thanks anon. I was not aware nyaa did audio. Appreciate that a lot.
>vidya OST on nyaa
first time I've seen it outside VNs
good shit
>fighting the superboss
>Tenemos is dead
>accidentally waste Hikari’s turn by attacking normally
>boss gets out of break next turn and even if I had invulnerability stacks the first action is immediately throwing buffs into the trash
>throw large soulstone because fuck it I’m going to die anyways maybe I’ll get the meme kill
>doesn’t kill
>double fuck it have Agnea summon her waifu because maybe she’ll somehow block enough damage for Agnea to get another turn
>”Giselle, when you stumble…”
>“…you get back on your feet Agnea!”
>hits for absolutely no real damage
>die like a chump immediately after
just kidding it killed him and I’m just left laughing in confusion
All the stupid broken stuff I brought to the table
Aeber nukes
Castti concoct deleting the first phase by itself because Castti is the most broken character by such a ridiculous margin it’s funny
Ochette beast spam
Partitio spamming Aelfrics and assassins
Hikari ripping apart Galdera’s parts without even breaking them through sheer force
Agnea throwing around AOE coil and letting Hikari make the entire team invulnerable (except those were wastes of time because he spams buff removal all the time anyways)
Throne copying Partitio to spam Aelfrics even harder
Osvald and Tenemos crying in a corner because magic sucks so hard (at least Tenemos can overheal and spam alefrics)
All the stupid meme strategies I did like double thief strats, actually trying to make Osvald and Tenemos into supernukes and still doing less damage than Hikari or Castti anyways because magic
All that broken shit
And this is what actually kills him
Fuck it I’m going to bed I don’t have time for this nonsense
Jut equip everybody with merchant job.
You did the optional fight for improved help where you can summon assassins for 50k and they also heal hp and sp besides doing 9999 damage right?
He’s already dead
>You did the optional fight for improved help where you can summon assassins for 50k and they also heal hp and sp besides doing 9999 damage right?
who ???? No, what is that ?
I feel like a lot of people are going to get some surreal stories out of this superboss if they try their own strats. I kept a rank 3 High Wolf on me all game with Ochette which I found to be useful for breaking enemies with knife weaknesses. Even after catching a Chubby Cait and a bunch of rank 10s, I never got rid of this one shit tier monster. And it ended up breaking the superboss at the last phase and saving me seven turns of total devastation.
Yeah I paid the Omniscient Eye money to fuck off it's fucking funny
Technically Castti's concoct is magic so magic isn't THAT bad.
How to make Concoct do the big damage? I have one Dark boosting weapon and even with Strengthening Powder I'm getting nowhere near the damage I've seen anons posting about
>Anon...
His jap VA keeps screaming Oshtor at start of fights which reminds me the MC of the utawarerumono series.
>something very serious and dramatic happens
>enter boss fight out of cutscene
>"To work..."
Why the FUCK are the voice lines in this game so botched? They constantly play, are distracting, and are usually ill-fitting. I'm so sick of this shit it's unreal. If you aren't going to comprehend how to properly implement these, don't even put them in.
How can one mentally ill healer be so perfect?
I've been expecting this exact image for like 5 threads now. Based.
>other than the expected Temenos/Crick, Osvald/Partitio is picking up steam fast along with Hikari/Partitio for some reason
Where
who is ochette banging
Me
Whoever is able to supply her with the most food, so Partitio or Hikari. and HIkari is for Agnea, so Partitio/Ochette is canon now
Partitio already fucked Castti
You mean Castti pegged Partitio
pam
lots of greasy eating during fat slappy sex
>Two males are friends
>MUST BE GAY
yaoichuds should be burned alive
>ship random people
>not shipping Pala and Mikka when the actual in-game quest is gay as fuck
There was another anon who was going to do Solo Hikari and I took some notes.
- Vengeful Blade hard carries early to mid
- Starsplitter isn't the highest atk. sword you can get but the chance to Def. Down on counter is worth the small loss in stats
- Everything in the Chapter 4 dungeon is basically weak to Bow so if you get one of the multi-hit Bow skills and use the ch.3 duel's 2 hit sword it's the most efficient farming I found to prep for Mugen
- Mugen is a total dickwad, You'll want to save Every single Wriggle Root you get to heal+clear Terror just before breaking him Cause you can't drag him into a drawn out fight and win (he'll eventually drop you to 1hp then finish the job with his other actions)
I was one of the ones debating it. I'm running through the Journey to Dawn finale, but looking at my options.
Hikari seems like the obvious pick, being tanky, strong, and his unique talent letting him break damn near anything with some preperation.
Osvald is also tempting since Mug would let you level pretty good and get tons of free shit.
Also Partitio for constant access to merchant since it's just a strong job in general.
I'm sure Ochette's a solid pick too since she can also duel people and level pretty solidly.
Actually also considered another point in Ochette's favor is if she can finish her own story, the Provoke Beasts glitch gives her probably the strongest nuke turn in the game
Hikari was fun, running around dueling people for the proper skills for specific areas/dungeons/bosses was cool but while I was able to beat Rai Mei at like 34 I was near 50 when I beat Mugen because I kept trying different things and he kept beating my ass ruthlessly
I'm gonna start my Osvald solo wish me luck lads
>made of tissue paper during earlygame
>requires tons of inn rest and/or plums which means huge financial problems
I like making myself suffer, thanks anon
Do you have a plan going in? I'm the HIkari bro and I was thinking about Doing Casti next cause I love her but if you had cool ideas for Osvald I'd love to hear em
I might rush Warrior subclass and then grab the spear and sword fire boost weapon. Other than that I'll probably just make shit up along the way.
Holy shit Ori is really in Osvald's ch1 on the left this bitch
You can see her in a large number of chapters in the background.
And she's at the very back of the auditorium in the epilogue.
Hell, she even pops up and speaks directly to Castti in her last chapter but her name's just "scrivener"
Pick one
Tressa is my wife!
Why does TOTO get a lot more art than CHAP?
Temenos, Throne, and Osvald are the go-to team for utility and AOE so chances are that most people gravitated to them. Temenos probably being the biggest one - even before his smug personality - with his base class group heal because healers are generally important in rpgs.
Because it really feels like this game was just meant to be quadropath traveler and the western continent was just hastily added in once the devs realized that they already named the game octopath again.
That's why all the stories of CHAP are so shit compared to OTTO
Because Ochette and Osvald are the best characters, and OTTO is the only team comp that works for them.
But I used OPAH and COTT (pairing up the Crossed Paths characters) and both parties worked amazingly well together. Hell, with how malleable the jobs are, any party is feasible.
>playing the first game
>finish all the stories
>get ready to go for the real final boss
>find out I need to use everyone so I have to grind up the four I didn't use who are all at level 30
Killed any desire I had to finish. Leveling is way too fucking slow in this game for this bullshit.
>Leveling is way too fucking slow
Bro, your Alrond?
He was playing the first game.
Bros... my reading comprehension...
I don't think Alrond is in the first game
It wouldn't be if you didn't go full retard and use only 4 members.
If you cycle 7 members with your main you will be lvl 60 once you finish all quests.
If i really hated how the eight characters and their stories were really disjointed and you had to travel halfway across the worst just to get to the next part, will i like 2 better? Did they fix the flow of the game?
No, OT2 has a similar structure to OT1
It's too bad Teach is fucking useless because the animation for it is kind of funny
literally what I thought of
Has any one tried risk it all + seduction on teach?
Yes, use the +1 buff duration from dancer and the double recovery speed from conjurer and you get 3 buffed to the max characters for free. Using Seduction on Casti EX skill does the same but better though.
Any mod /cheat /save edit to change my main character?
With a party of 4 but 8 total characters there is good way to switch them around to keep them at similar level.
I want to do two 4man parties and do their quests in order but the whole main character can't be benched is a bitch
You can bench your main after beating their story.
being forced to carry my main around for 80% of the game isn't a good solution
You can cheat/save edit in the items that let you get EXP and JP on benched party members if it bothers you enough, or just focus on your protagonists route.
>items that let you get EXP and JP on benched party members
that's a thing?
Not in the normal game obviously.
>they have the means to do it
>chose not to add it in
fuck you squeenix
God, why is Osvald so good!
what did she mean by this???
she doesn't know how staffs work
>but I have a sheath for your staff right here, inquisitor... 🙂
Temenos should have fugged her afterward
>Some staffs don't need to be sheathed
Is that meant to mean temenos takes cock?
Are straights really this oblivious lmao
He’s being autistic by pointing out using “staff” as an innuendo for his penis and “sheathe” as an innuendo for her vagina doesn’t make sense because actual staffs don’t use sheathes. He is not gay.
Can you find her in post game?
Those houses disappear the next time you go up that road.
partitio with arcanist secondary is fucking broken
enjoy no one ever getting hit again
Sidestep is shit because everything can be beaten in the first few turns.
I finished the game today and miss it already. Such powerful story telling and SOUL.
>Such powerful story telling
At least in 4 of the 8 stories, yes.
I saw in an interview for Octopath 1 that the lead writer only actually wrote 3 of the 8 stories. This has left me wondering what the distribution was like for Octo 2. I think the only story that felt a bit shallow to me was Ozvald, but some were clearly better than others, like Castti and Throne's.
Now, and if this offends you I don't apologize, I think Agnea is the litmus test for taste with Octo 2. Her story perfectly aligns with the themes of the games and conveys it not through intense battling but through inspiring people with passion. Anyone who doesn't like Agnea in my opinion has no eye for story telling and just cares about the surface level elements of a plot like how many assassins or betrayals there are.
>Anyone who doesn't like Agnea in my opinion has no eye for story telling
yeah Giselle suddenly getting stage fright for no reason and then getting over it instantly is truly peak storytelling
Seeing a mentally handicapped person like Agnea try her best motivated her
throne's is the second-worst story, after hikari.
it's conHispanicuous how the most martial characters are also the most pathetic, while the healers are the most assertive and aggressive. this fits well with the EXTREMELY childish themes of the game. Agnea fits perfectly within it, as does Partitio. but the game is indeed a good litmus test for one's eye for story telling, since it's literally naturo-tier "I punch my enemies in the face and then they become my friends :)", as if what actually happens when partitio gives the various business goons new jobs isn't that they go straight back to their old ways right away. the whole game is at the level of sesame street, though probably worse since at least sesame street has actually good messages as well, simple though they may be. like, you watch an episode where one guy wants donuts, and he gets donuts form everyone ,and then he eats too many of them and throws up, and the message of the episode is too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. that's unironically more complex than octopath traveller's messages and themes.
I can't believe people above the age of 8 are seriously treating this game's story as if it's not embarrassing. I would say the game was obviously written for preschool children, except it's full of murder and rape and torturing children then sacrificing them to dark gods, it's obviously aimed at adults, or at beast young adults, yet it's TOLD as if it's for children.
I disregard any opinion from frogposters since they are always wrong.
Frog website.
>Frogposter can't appreciate saccharine storytelling
Not everything has to be SICKDARK you fucking gay, and besides, this game still shows
>Mass Murder
>Genocide of entire nations
>Child murder
>Dementia
>Parental loss
>Beheadings
etc.
Your problem seems to be that the main characters in this game are good people that want to do good in a world that's neither good nor evil.
>castti
>better
Her story feels so rushed like it was thr last one they had to make and just had to quickly hack something together to make the launch date.
Most of her chapters don't even have a dungeon or boss and are just endless walls of text.
Ch 3 is the only one without a boss
>Most of her chapters don't even have a dungeon or boss and are just endless walls of text.
pretty sure she has a dungeon for every chapter, even the one without a boss
There’s no dungeon in Winterbloom but there is a boss
I don't like Agnea story only because it's the generic cliche story done a billion times. Compared to Castti, Ochette or Osvald it's just weak and uninteresting. Agnea being mediocre as a gameplay unit doesn't help either
>I saw in an interview for Octopath 1 that the lead writer only actually wrote 3 of the 8 stories. This has left me wondering what the distribution was like for Octo 2.
This explains so much. Throughout the whole of OT2 I was troubled by the stark divergence in quality between stories, and thought they had to have different writers. It explains why some of the stories have great dialogue and others are hot garbage. I thought it might even be poor English localisation.
I think the only weak story is Hikari's, which isn't necessarily even bad. Anyone else's story is a perfectly acceptable answer if I were to ask which is the best story in the game.
I really ended up liking Hikari's. It had a tournament arc that felt much more like a tournament compared to Olberic's, Chapter 3 was filler tier, Chapter 4 had a cool 'flashback duel' with Young Hikari who had his own skills and everything makes me wish he had 'story skills' like Ochette's story beasts, I felt really bad for getting rid of Hachimonjigiri, and his Chapter 5 was great. Finally killing Ritsu, the Shadow Duel, beating Mugen.
Sure it's cliche as fuck and might as well be ripped straight out of say, Fire Emblem, but I like it anyway. It's told well enough for the most part.
For some reason I keep forgetting to check if bosses can be captured via Ochette's ability unless it's one of her story specific ones. I realize no story bosses can be captured, but have I missed out on any big ones from optional dungeons? I accidentally killed Lord of the Sands before trying to capture it and same with the whirlpool boss.
I think most bosses are untamable when you fight them as a boss and you have to wait until they become a random encounter after you beat them. Lord of Sands I know shows up as a random encounter, as does the shark
Is this game worth trying at all if I couldn't stand how shallow the first game was? It was just too casual both mechanics and story wise, every single facet of it felt inoffensive and meaningless. It was the ultimate nostalgia bait made to appeal to everyone (and at the same time no one in particular). The whole thing was just a slog that you would only play to pass time, the game never challenged you and the story didn't have anything interesting to say.
If you didn't like the first one then no this one probably didn't change/add enough to change your mind on it
My three favorite final boss fights were Osvald's, Hikari's and Partitio's.
Osvalds became a shonen battle out of nowhere which was hilarious, Hikari had multiple fights in one chapter with a good story, and Partitio just owning Roque and his invention was cool. He really is a miracle man.
Is darkling supposed to be fucking bullshit or I just suck? I know that just deleting boss before it can act is a thing but if you ever let this thing to act it immediately nukes half the party by moving multiple times in a row and having access to down your characters to 1 hp attack. They couldn't just make bosses you burst or die, even less story ones
I didn't struggle too much but I had the Owl boss so I don't know if they were different. From what I've read in earlier threads, doing damage too fast is actually dangerous because it has thresholds for using certain moves. If you damage it too quickly, it will use all these insane moves in a row that are nearly impossible to survive. Also avoid leghold trap as it can fuck you into it using its bring to 1hp move and then using a move right after. You need to be able to heal between its attacks rather than it attacking 2-3 times in a row at the end of the turn.
I'm partial to the "Rododododo" myself
I was doing owl too and it thoroughly destroyed my ass. And apparently it is bullshit because i did partitio next and train got to red before i could even actually deal huge damage to it
i didn't think octo 1 was particularly good but for some reason i'm really enjoying this one, i think the characters are just way better, doing my first team of Oswald, Partitio, Throne and Temenos and every single one of their stories has been interesting so far. Just fought Father and it was actually kinda sad.
Hoping the other 4s stories are also good.
>OT1 comes out
>say it's boring, get called a dunkey shill
>OT2 comes out
>suddenly everyone agrees that OT1 had a bunch of flaws that OT2 fixed
lol
Only 2 of the stories in 1 were outright bad, the rest were decent to amazing.
from what I remember, the only story I liked in 1 was the Apothecary, everyone else's was kinda boring
Everything has flaws, but Octo 1 was still good fun. Octo 2 is about 95% the same with some minor tweaks.
what are the flaws of ot1?
im planning of playing it after i finish 2
Everyone understood the flaws of OT1 tbh
I did everyone's chapter 2 and working on thier chapter 3s now. Having a problem finding good gear, have like 200k but cant find any decent gear at the venders. What cities should I be looking for to buy good stuff?
honestly most of my good gear was gotten through stealing and mug
I havent done any of that
there's some good gear, so just bust out Agnea or Throne
even the starting towns have some great gear
>buying equipment
>ever
Couldn't be me. The funny scholar who beats people up at night (or buying it if you're of the more peaceful sort) and dungeon diving is the way to go. Sidequests have good stuff, too.
>Play a chapter or two
>Take a break and do something else
>Play a chapter or two
>Take a break and do something else
>Rinse repeat until I beat the game
Am I autistic? I feel like the episodic nature of these chapters makes it easier for me to take my time
>Am I autistic?
Yes, not for playing that way, but for asking this on Ganker
Slut
They flirt on several occasions. She would be a good fit for him and his wild attitude.
What the fuck is this translation changes or does she say she’s getting raw dogged in JP too?
She just teases him to give a practical joke about what amnesia feels like, whether it actually happened is left ambiguous.
>YWN be cock teased by Castti
Why even fucking live
How old are the cast? The only one that was obvious is Partitio at 24. I'm guessing Osvald and Castii are the oldest? Are the ages ever mentioned in-game for other characters?
this group seems pretty popular in fanart, much moreso than the western folks
I think it’s just the people who do one team of four first just recruit the ones who are nearby.
Yeah but you rarely see group fanart of Castti/Hikari/Agnea/Partitio. It's usually just Agnea/Hikari or solo Partitio
Any good Throne coomer art out there?
>Temenos is pretty much the MC of the game
>all the stories there are at least good with only Throne going fullretard but otherwise it was great
>their competition in the western continent is Casti and kinda Partitio
>Temenos is pretty much the MC of the game
He's the one with the closest ties to the main plot, but Hikari is the one who has the most legit reason to travel around the entire fucking world and recruiting the whole party.
Because the plot is relevant and I can buy him befriending everyone.
Yeah, placing the spear girl in another corner of world definitively made sense and wasn't just for convenience.
Why is Thrones story full retard? I mean yeah it's not the best and the reveal at the end is what the fuck but otherwise it's alright imo
I think people likes to associate them because it's the team that can do some morally questionable stuff, in both story and path actions. Ochette is a funny contrast to the other 3 too, being the girl who's so pure darkness fears her and yet can send her monsters to attack random people.
>Partitio: should we draw up a written contract about this 80 billion loan you’re giving me?
>Alrond: haha no don’t worry about it
Is he retarded
Alrond wants Partitio's dick so bad
Actually recieving that money and having you buy the rights from Roque was surprisingly kino
>Hikari
>Deep Sleep
>anti-sleep accessory
>five counter attacks in the buffer
Literally immortal what the fuck
Is Kazan always the final big bad guy or would it have been someone else if I had picked a different MC?
It was Pala for me and I picked Agnea as MC.
>doing hikari/agnea's crossed fate
>Agnea:what's that sound
>Hikari: That's a Lute! an instrument from Ku!
why the fuck didn't they just leave it a Biwa if they were going to keep it a Ku-ese instrument? I know Biwa is a type of Lute, but why would Hikari?
fr some reason chudlations are mostly done by chudhouse so you shouldn't ever expect competence from them. It's amazing we don't have apollo's hamburgers yet
>Listening to travel banter during hikari chapter 4
>Another conversation of implying Castti is the team's mom with comparisons to hikari's mom
>Osvald gets distracted by a complex escape plan and forgets he has magic
>Hikari talks about his mom and how he wishes agnea could have met her
Dunno why but I just found it all funny considering the chapter was meant to be very serious and backstory heavy.
That chapter is like the stupidest one in the game.
Is the woman Throné doesn't save in Winterbloom meant to be the same woman who asks her to kill her baby in Lostseed? I got the same impression from them but there was no recognition on either's part
One was a blonde and the other was a brunette so no.
What kind of personalities do you want for the octopath 3 party? I vote pic related for the Apothecary next time. She can have the detective quest instead of Temenos.
Male Dancer
Female Warrior martial artist
>Male Dancer
seems a bit odd in a medieval setting, although i'm sure they could make it work if they wanted to.
>Female Warrior martial artist
Would they add a fist weapon type for her? or would she still just be swords/spears/axes?
>seems a bit odd in a medieval setting
This game ended with trains being invented. I don't think its a medieval setting anymore.
Just make him a beastling so he’s more of a War Dancer
its funny that a good male dancer will be much harder to pull off than a female warrior
Tribal dancer, super jacked, tanned and with body paint.
If they do this again I want 8 totally new classes honestly.
What classes would be cool?
A blue mage job would be interesting
>blue mage
so Hikari/Ochette?
Necromancer
They can capture various undead type mobs like Ochette and use them in battle. Other class abilities involve life and SP taps and curses and debuffs for mobs.
Path action lets them talk to spirits of dead people at night that nobody else can see.
Pretty interesting concept
I want a Paladin tbh, some Warrior/Cleric Hybrid
I know you can get that right now by making Hikari a Cleric, but it just doesn't feel the same
A gunslinger might work
Monk class
They could do hybrid classes. That'd be neat to explore.
Warrior/Cleric could be Paladin.
Thief/Hunter could be Bandit.
Scholar/Dancer could be Artist.
Apothecary/Merchant could be Lobbyist.
I don't really see the point in forcing "new" classes, you'd just end up with like "Knight" instead of Warrior and "Sorcerer" instead of Scholar. Aside from changing Dancer to Bard there aren't that many interesting ways to tweak the eight classes
I want the Apothecary be a drug dealer in the next game and have the criminal background.
I'd like to see a Hunter that has to assimilate into a more modern society. Like he's part of a semi-autonomous tribe [think the Nord in Kiseki or the Karaya in Suikoden 3] and gets drafted as a soldier by the tribe's parent state.
Ok bros, which characters final boss is the best and why?
I liked Agneas but maybe only because it's such a big contrast in quality to the rest of her story.
Hikaris story is just sleep inducing boring.
It was the only story where I actually skipped some cutscenes because it was just so bad and boring.
But he fights for his friends
>Hikaris story is just sleep inducing boring
I think it's supposed to be like classic samurai stories. It's kinda nice having an extremely straightforward character like Hikari after the angsty Osvald and Throne stories.
Osvlads.
Due to the VAs
Miles clear of Engage
We’re never going to get Octopath 3..
Give it 4-5 more years.
Probably not, yeah.
2 flopped BIGLY so it will be the last entry of the series.
>2 flopped BIGLY
no it didn't
Source?
I just want Triangle Strategy II
Triangle Story was kinda meh. Not as good as Fire Emblem at all. Octopath or Bravely are better series to focus on.
>Not as good as Fire Emblem at all.
Jesus christ that is some horrid taste
>some ironic FE weeb actually got filtered by Triangle
Top kek
>Not as good as Fire Emblem at all
the only thing that fire emblem ever created that was as good as triangle strategy was dimitri, everything else is utter shite
The problem with Hikari's route is that it's framed as an east asian feudal war drama, but Ku is so culturally and geographically removed from the rest of Solistia that it doesn't work. This isn't to say that all of Japan or China are homogenous, but normally if you're exiled from Region A and go to raise an Army in Region B, you see some of the effects of Region A's tyranny on your journey, and your own efforts in Region B will have some ripple effect in the wider nation because everything is more inter-connected. Hikari's events just feel like they're checking items off of a list rather than being immediately relevant to Hinoeuma [especially Rai Mei having a castle on the other side of the world because ???], which itself is only composed of Ku, one other town and one outpost. To say nothing of the fact that we don't see Mugen expand his 'flames of war' outside of Hinoeuma either. I think ideally you'd want to have Hikari participate in another War elsewhere in Ch2 in order to gain experience as a commander [wherein you'd meet up with Kazan] and then have the rest of his chapters take place in Hinoeuma itself, winning back territories in the outskirts of Ku before taking back Ku itself. The other thing working against it is that Mugen is a pretty shite villain.
Throne's story is bad because the asspull at the end doesn't really land and just comes off as strange rather than profound. I'm almost positive that they were going to go for a 'Blacksnakes are Homunculi" angle before deciding it was too cliched, but the "I impregnated countless women" comes off as completely nonsensical. It doesn't really wrap up Throne's development outside of just trying to mindfuck her before she comes back to her senses, which is a shame because she's a very good character and Ch3 was kino.
I think it's hilarious that a desert Nation has a vassal Clan on LITERALLY the other side of the world who quake in their boots at the thought of disappointing their master.
That's not how geopolitics works...at all. Especially not in times when the fast way to travel was by horse
i think maybe just maybe it would have worked if Mugen went full Fire Lord Ozai and started actually conquering the world, and had taken Stormhail some years prior, but it's just kind of there because "well it just is ok". like even if it was a long-held Ku settlement, I'm pretty sure it'd be hard to defend logistically, especially when there's not a single Ku soldier in Stormhail or anywhere outside of Ku.
The world is round
They don't know that yet. NPCs mention that Montwise is at the eastern edge of the known world. Meaning all of Osterra would be to the west.
>Stormhail residents keep bringing up feud between Clan Mei and the Church
>It is never addressed
>Apothecary/Merchant
Snake Oil Salesman
>has a vassal Clan on LITERALLY the other side of the world who quake in their boots at the thought of disappointing their master.
that's literally how it works irl
a good modern example would be germany and japan
plus i don't really get why are you all so hung up on it when the clan is basically planted there as an outpost to mount assault on the east continent and the clan leader is deathly afraid of Mugen murdering her for insubordination (which he definitely will)
It's even more nonsensical that the Church's military arm has its base there too. Which group was there first and how did they allow this other powerful military group to stake a claim in this era? None of it makes any sense logistically.
I think Hikari's story just doesn't really work in the Octopath format, it needs more room to flesh everything out, moreso than the other stories
That's because it's basically a footnotes version of Fire Emblem.
>Peace loving prince, cast out of his home by "evil force"
>goes looking for his friends, only to end up leading a slave rebellion
>Also spends his downtime helping a gang of weirdos with their own quests
I'm only 2 chapters in, but the math certainly checks out.
Don't forget the quintessential red emperor archetype
Given the implication of his latent power/cursed blood/evil side and he really starts to look closer to the post-awakening FE MCs even before the truth of it all gets laid out for you. I'm actually curios how well he'd score on an FE protag checklist/bingo sheet
>sword user
>exiled from home
>recruits ragtag group
>fights evil man in big armor
>mysterious power from bloodline
>travels across the land solving problems before retaking his home
I think he hits every point except for having his own legendary sword and a strange hair colour
>Used to play a ton of Golden Sun/Final Fantasy V and VI on my GBA when I was a kid
>Kinda lost interest in JRPGs afterwards
>Start playing OT2
>Can't tear myself away from it, feel like those summers twenty years ago
This game is so good bros
>Castii asks about Ochette's ears
>only animal ears on top of head, area where human ears would be is completely empty
I see.
why would she have human ears?
some artists are retarded
I prefer double sets of ears, feels much more traditional catgirl-esque
Legit question, any gay/lesbo/chud characters?
just one: (You)
Veronica seems to be gay for Dolcinea. I liked her boss sprite she seemed to have big fat tits.
Aaaaand skip.
thx bros.
This game is full of lesbians
Castii and Malaya
Dolcinea and Veronica
Pala and Mikka
don't forget that one princess in timberrain
>autist doesn't understand friendship
pala and mikka is gay as fuck
>replying to it
why?
Pala literally calls Mikka her wife lol
dumbass
>Castii
You wish Malaya.
It's not cheating if you're pegging someone
>Castii and Malaya
Holy cope
>Pala and Mikka
She's a kid you stupid coomer
>She's a kid you stupid coomer
do Mikka's follow-up quest
Pala literally calls her "my wife". It's ogre for you.
Poor Andy.
Did literally anyone not pick Mahina?
I picked Akala. The owl is gay.
I thought everyone picked Akala
It feels like most people picked her
>picking the owl
I'd guess like ~90+% picked Mahina, simply because she is way more prominent on Ochettes character art.
I didn't even know Akala was even on there until I double checked after the decision.
I picked Akala. It's a cooler name plus dogs > hooters.
I figured elemental weaknesses were more useful on a physical class
Yep this is why I picked her, plus I like owls
It's a lot harder to probe for elemental weaknesses than it is for physicals, Mahina automatically telling you what it is makes it a lot simpler to plan around breaks
>It's a lot harder to probe for elemental weaknesses than it is for physicals
Analyze and Osvald exist
Analyze and Osvald are both just as good if not better on average at finding physical weaknesses than magical ones.
Magic sucks so figuring out elements is more problematic so it's better to figure physical first then analyze for the rest, usually very few elementals
plus someone said in the threads that jackal is smart enough to use finisher on broken enemies anytime while owl isn't and needs all weaknesses shown
>plus someone said in the threads that jackal is smart enough to use finisher on broken enemies anytime while owl isn't and needs all weaknesses shown
And you're just going to take their word for it? Mahina uses Arcane Blade on broken enemies 100% of the time.
Oh nevermind i see what you meant to say. Akala prioritizes using "Finishing Blow" on broken enemies over breaking non-broken enemies, whereas Mahina uses Arcane Blade on ALL enemies, but only when they're all broken, otherwise she continues using elemental attacks to break enemies shields.
>It's a lot harder to probe for elemental weaknesses than it is for physicals
Lol, call me when physical has a skill like Elemental Barrage for checking weaknesses.
>when physical has a skill like Elemental Barrage for checking weaknesses.
sixfold strike
>enemy mogs you by being weak to dark, wind, or light
Elemental Barrage is good but you're a retars.
Where is that little girl that runs out of Crackridge going?
the rape hut
Story any good this time round?
yeah
yes, better than the first IMO. the individual stories are deeper (and several go WAY darker) and have more time to breathe since they aren't locked to only 3 chapters after recruitment, there's Crossed Paths chapters where two characters actively adventure together, and the overall reveal comes together a bit better than OT1's epilogue IMO.
Yes
Like FF9/Chrono Trigger/Xeno good? Or just better than the original OT? I gotta set my expectations...
you're not getting a grand epic adventure, you're getting concurrent stories all stemming from the same problem. so, better than OT1, but it's not the type of story that FF9/CT is
>FF9/Chrono Trigger/Xeno
Those are wholly different types of stories. Best description for OT2 was the writers actually succeeded in what they were originally trying to do with the first game.
What do I do about the guy who just keeps asking for a grape and a plum in New Desta?
lug his father from canalbrine to him
You need to bring his Dad along with you to give him a stern talking to, I don't remember which city he's in though
for me it's an 8.5/10. i have different opinions on those 3 games than you but it's a very good RPG that's worth playing
Have Temenos beat the shit out of him until you find out what town his dad is in, you should be able to figure the out the rest from that.
>33 hours in
>main team is level 64-66
>just got 8th traveler
I think I'm ready for chapter II
i wish my autism allowed me to keep stupid skills like these for funny moments
>use seduction on Castii
>max boost EX skill
>repeat
You just steamroll everything. Found out that the 'skill to everyone' buff applies to Warriors counter stance, break shields all day erry day
cute
These two are just friends btw.
Tem is busy grieving over his roommate Crick to give Throne the time of day.
friends with each other's penises
I really wasn't interested in OT1 but I might pick up this one for the qt priest
He's ultra sassy, it's a great character and kinda unexpected after how bland Ophilia was
>I will get answers
>.............So it goes.
>May the sacred flame guide you... or something like that
owl is ugly and fits more for the final boss anyway
I saw the warped version of Akala, and warped Makina looks FAR more menacing as a Darkling, otherwise it is just another cliche beast.
Any particular reason why this game is getting much more fan art than the first?
it's a better game
Dunno. Characters are more likable and better written this time. Maybe that's why.
Where the fuck is the porn
characters have much more breadth and depth, and interact with each other in interesting ways that are fun to draw/depict
Multiplat, more people know about it thanks to the first game's existence, more relationship dynamics.
Because jrpgs are more mainstream now than it's ever been.
In general anime and other media has progressively gotten a larger crowd of consumers since a lot of the people who were 14 when octopath came out are now 18 and adults.
They can finally participate in discussion by a game that may have been nostalgic for them as a teenager.
>Any particular reason why this game is getting much more fan art than the first?
better game
better characters
simple as
More interesting and emotive characters, more interaction, better story
I think it's hilarious that you can start as Agnea and recruit both of them
>Hey, I'm on my way to travel the world to become a superstar
>We are convicted criminals on a journey to kill the people who wronged us
>Wanna join up? :3
>Sure why not
She works better as a recruited character were her sister begs you to be her travel buddy to keep her safe.
Where the fuck is the "tingly meat" recipe? The only town i haven't been in is the throne's final chapter one
It's one of the early towns, maybe New Delsta?
Old lady in Tropu'hopu and her Hispanicy chicken recipe actually.
bullshit i was totally sure i checked the entire place
day/night?
theater and apparently not when you do agnea's mission
Which quest is that, is that the beastling one in Ochette’s village? You get the Hispanicy chicken recipe in Tropohopu or whatever it’s called
Do the characters still not interact with each other in any way making it feel like 8 completely redundant slogs?
every single chapter has multiple travel banters in it (which you can view from the journal), bench characters show up in taverns, there are Crossed Paths now where character pairs have their own quests separate from their main storylines, and the endgame/postgame has a bunch of interaction.
The characters also all yap and jabber nonstop to each other during combat
So no, pass from me then. I'll wait until they use this engine for an actually good game, like a remake of Final Fantasy 5 or 6.
>wants character interaction
>cites a game where there's all of 30-40 lines of the party interacting with each other
>the other game has characters permanently going silent once they're recruited in the second world
bro isn't there even less party interaction in those games
That's not the gimmick of those games retards, those games have actual stories.
so you went from asking about character interactions to demanding a main story?
This has to be bait lmao
>The characters also all yap and jabber nonstop to each other during combat
So utterly pointless bullshit then,
>we want characters interacting with each other!
ok, the characters interact during their individual chapters, they interact during explicit paired-off chapters, and they converse during battle
>n-no! that's utterly pointless bullshit!
At this point just assume anyone who asks about "character interactions" is not asking in good faith
Travel Banters return but they're all permanent in the journal if you miss them or didn't even have the right party member with you
Paired chapters are fairly short but as the name implies pair 2 characters for a few chapters
True endgame has some chapters dedicated to all of them in the party with the true final boss looming at the end
The sequel is exactly the same as the first game, just with different characters. So the writing/charaterization is just as bad, the enemy weakness system is just as much of a crapshoot, and the battles are just as artificially drawn out as long as possible
Am I right that just like in the first game theres eventually a point where youre forced to make all 8 party members good?
I mean, I'd love a full remake of FF6 using this HD2D style. Places like Zozo and Vector would look great
In the pixel remaster, they use that style for Celes opera scene
>buffs the shit out of your entire party
Where can I get a Great Blade?
sold in sai, soldier at night in sai, guard house hidden item in timberain
It's sold in a shop but I can't recall the city
I just used Drastic Measures Castti in a debuff-centric team and I have been baptized by those numbers
What's Partitios accent like in the Jap dub? The American cowboy-forrest Gump accent is hilarious but it really grows on you
I think he just talks in Osaka-ben, so a similar hick accent if not as distinctly outdated as cowboy talk is.
Bumpkin dialect with a drawl. Pretty much what his VA usually does: see Moses from Tales of Legendia.
idk but it sounds amazing when using inventor skills
Did Temenos pus a baby in Ochette? that kid is way too smol to be the regular Ochette.
who wouldn't?
I really dig Osvald's design, something about a shaggy homeless professor is cool as hell.
Don't forget that he's canonically shredded too. Like his mug ability isn't him using magic to beat people up, he does it even when his magic is sealed.
Actual muscle wizard
I love that he's straight up like "Gotta stay fit to keep the mind healthy". It all just comes back to wanting to do everything he can to be as smart as he can.
Yeah I love the concept
Brilliant Professor who is also built like a truck and spends his days reading and his nights going around town serving knuckle sandwiches
>extracts your info during the day
>extracts your belongings at night
Professor Chad
Might be a stupid question but do attack effects on equipment on weapons only work if you do an actual basic attack with them? Trying to figure out if I should swap out the conqueror's sword since I barely use the associated skill on my armsmaster and I already have other blades that have 100+ atk power over its base attack. On a similar note how does stacking bonuses work for weapons and attacks that don't use a specific weapon anyway?
i remember testing the Conquerer's Sword vs any other weapon and Conquerer's did more damage because of the +250 atk when broken even when i was using a skill and not just the basic attack.
Not 100% on this, but i think any weapon passives apply to any skill that uses that weapon, and if a skill doesn't specify a weapon i think it equips the one with the highest attack and applies that weapon's effects to the attack.
tbh the big thing i appreciate about this game is how it doesn't fall into the same tropes/pitfalls of jrpg writing, obviously it has /some/ but there are such good counterexamples. not even just the ch 1 fake death scares with master juvah and papp but also
>Throne actually killing Mother and Father like she initially set out to do, even after the whole bullshit sympathy scene for both of them, especially Father [whom Throne herself feels some sympathy for]. Any other JRPG protag would have forgiven them like a bitch
>Castti going against her nature as an apothecary and killing Trousseau, then dropping the most badass quote in the game about "I had to extend a hand to take one life, in order to save many" when Trousseau tries to unnerve her
>Then finally Hikari, who looked to be the worst offender with his classic "Demon power that doesn't actually harm or kill anyone but just makes the character strong and edgy", This came off as pretty lame and cliched for the first few chapters until they drop the reveal that the edgy demon power DID actually kill people when Hikari was a child, and that the fact that it hasn't consumed Hikari since is actually a testament to his own inner strength and conviction, which is shown in contrast to Mugen, who is completely consumed, and likely King Jigo as well. Very cool way of subverting that trope honestly
basically it's neat to have main characters with actual convictions instead of baby bullshit morality appeals when villains need to die
It's been like that in the 1st game like Miguel Twinspears from Alfyn's ch3.
Incest babies
Failed attempts at creating vessels to house youknowwho
>Hikari
wasn't it actually because of his mother's blood that he doesn't lose his shit? Jigo probably just fucked her so much he absorbed some of her pussy juice magic and that's why he mellowed out when he got older.
MUGEN WAS RIGHT
HOW DARE SHE TAINT THE BLOODLINE
Hikari is an unironic half devil/half angel.
How much more fucking chuuni can you get.
I vaguely remember Mugen mentioning that, maybe it just got memory holed in favor of headcanon. I guess I gave them too much credit
Honestly the best thing about the writing in these games has always been the willingness to have mature themes and somewhat subvert standard jrpg expectations. I really thought I was going to hate Alfyn's chapters in OT1 because his personality was terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised that after his intro they basically used every subsequent chapter to tell a parable about a different part of medical ethics, with some pretty decent moral complexity.
So why is everyone a zombie in Lostseed?
Jesus, Partitio's Ch3 boss sucked. My team is starting to feel a bit weak. Is it even worth trying to use dancer or should I just stick to Thief secondary for debuffs?
>throne + more damage passive
>use latent power
>first turn use speed buff
>2nd turn aebers reckoning
Rip bosses
Most shit melts before Blessing of Darkness even runs out so you don't even need the extra turn for a speed buff
Depends on your team setup. I had more mileage with Thief doing support though. Armor Corrosive is basically Lion Dance for the whole party in a boss.
This is one thing I like about this games, is that debuffs and status effects actually work on bosses. Many RPGs usually make them immune to any of that.
I've been spoiled by Etrian Odyssey, so having debuffs and afflictions (poison in this case) actually work - extremely well - like in that series makes me happy.
Yeah, I think I'll switch Temenos back to Thief. Dancer only really gives me Elem Attack Up, Armor Corrosive and the ATK down debuffs seems more useful.
Does it really shit the bed on switch? I kinda want to play it while being comfy
It's smooth enough overall but I was playing Castti's final chapter earlier and I thought it was going to explode
I understand the second half of that dungeon was supposed to show how dangerous the situation was with all the rain and fog/humidity but my Switch was chugging a bit, so I had to kill the boss as quickly as possible.
This is probably the hardest final boss imo, and also there's something kino about fighting someone dressed as a plague doctor
Agnea's final boss was actually the most difficult for me because of the removal of party members during the fight along with the Charm'ing.
I'm playing it on a switch from 2017 and it only ever drops frames when using icewind in certain places and during some travel banners for whatever reason.
banters*
I have insane frame drops during travel banners too. Got my Switch in 2018
Some areas have dog vomit performance but you can just OC the switch slightly
Portable works fine
In either case it's a fucking turn based jrpg, as long as it doesn't drop to unplayable performance (it doesn't) it's okay
Poison is near useless and confuse/sleep outright don't work so unlike EO the statuses here suck. Blind is great though as are debuffs
Are there jobs other than the party member ones? I've got all of them except Scholar and wondering if I missed something.
Yes there's 4 extra jobs
Ah ok thanks. Do you get them from guilds like the other ones?
No, they're different, you get them from certain npcs.
First one you can get is just outside Throne's starting city which will operate like a guild. The next two you get around mid-game and the last one is locked behind completing Hikari's story.
You get them from NPC's. One is super easy to find, just explore around Throne's starting point, but all the others are going to be in late game areas or hidden behind a difficult boss so don't worry too much about them while going through the story. As long as you explore everywhere as you play you'll find them.
Most are obtained kinda late game though
Who did you use the nuts on? I've been giving all speed and evasion to Throne and Elem Attack/SP to Osvald. Not sure about the rest.
I game the elemental defense ones to temenos, and the physical defense ones to hikari, and attack ones spread between throne and hikari, and critical ones to ochette
If you didn't nut all over Ochette you're doing something wrong.
>If you didn't nut all over Partitio you're doing something wrong.
fixed
ph attack, accuracy and critical nuts to your phys damage dealers
sp nuts generally went to the people with two non-caster jobs since they end up with terrible pools
hp nuts to the caster types to help them survive
all speed nuts to throne obviously
ele def nuts to healers
ele attack nuts to magic nukers until they can cap at 999 with whatever element boost weapons you need on them
i plan to keep a save right before the superboss to play around with so i've used none of them yet, seeing as they're unnecessary to break the rest of the game
Is Donate BP on Agnea as nuts as it sounds with her talent?
it doesn't work with her latent
but the inventor skill does work with her latent
not as nuts as what Castii can just do as a baseline with whatever secondary job you still want to slap on her
I have to say something I really like about Hikari and his power is that it kinda represents Ku as a whole - immense power with the possibility to use it for war or peace. Jigo and Mugen were corrupted by it because they just wanted power and their kingdom for expansion (at least for most of Jigo's life) whereas Hikari can use his power without issue most of the time even before it changes to Light because he doesn't intend to use it for power, he just wants to help people, just like what he wants for Ku.
Does the game ever spell out whether Hikari's lowborn mom had Lumina family heritage? I assumed that was what balanced out his demon heritage and made him more of a perfect yin yang then than Mugen and his father.
>Does the game ever spell out whether Hikari's lowborn mom had Lumina family heritage? I assumed that was what balanced out his demon heritage and made him more of a perfect yin yang then than Mugen and his father.
I'm not sure although it makes perfect sense for that to be the case
>unspoilering the spoiler
my bad, I'm a little bit retarded
Yah. His mom used her "battling uterus" to stop the evil bloodline.
Alright frens, what would be your ideal 4 character party, if you could mix the characters from both Octopath games? For me it's
>Tressa
>Osvald
>Castii
>Temenos
Four Tressa's
Elrica
Castti
Tressa
Osvald
Olberic. Partitio. Ochette. Castii.
Hikari, Castii, Agnaea, Throne
>decided to get into a 45 level area with level 30 characters
>actually blazed through it because lol Hikari MC
>there's a town with a debt collector at the end of it
>my fucking face when i get the class from the blacksmith and equip it on Hikari
I feel like Armsmaster is a waste in Hikari since he can get good weaponskills from dueling anyway.
His weapon skills from dueling will have a shit for damage unless he can wield those weapon types. Armsmaster solves that issue and also gives him a fuck huge elemental attack so he can be a semi competent elemental attacker on top of it since he gets some absolutely bullshit 3-elemental attacks from his blue magic.
Besides, some skills are still better than armsmaster's. There's Squall of Arrows which is a 3-5 bow attack on all foes which is easier to utilize than the armsmaster's version.
>3-5 bow attack
lol try 4-8
Jesus christ
I'm actually having trouble figuring out what's optimal on him when you have shit like:
>limb from limb, single 4 hits sword
>vicious rally, aoe 2 hits axe w/ 2 turn atk buff
>frenzied fire, aoe 4-8 hits bow
>fatal fang, random 4-8 hits dagger w/ poison chance
>aggressive thrust, 4-8 random spear
>mythical bore, single 1 hit spear that uses all sp and buffs damage based on the amount of sp used
>deep sleep, 4 turn sleep (that can be nulled by a sleep prevention accessory) that restores 50/65/80/100% hp and sp
>divine protection, invincibility buff that's affected by dancer's ult
he even gets an ally guard and a knock off bp donation and sidestep so you don't have to sub merchant. and an enemy heal for kicks. they did not skimp on his blue mage skills.
>let us makethe dedicated physical powerhouse into a blue mage on top of it
Love it but they really needed to give you more slots
At least Armsmaster takes a load off his blue magic skills quite a bit
Limb for Limb with Sealticge is enough damage for literally every fight in the game. Bring other useful or fun stuff.
>Turn 1: Arcanist - Diffusion
>Turn 2: Hikari - Let's End This and Arcanist - Inversion
Now you have both attack and both defense ups and if done right the enemy won't get to attack for the half turn you have defense down.
I also really like Twin Serpents as it is the only spear all skill in the game, hits twice, and when using Rai Mei's spear you get thunder pursuit on it as well.
Can you actually get a double 99k from his second EX skill if his ph attack is at or near 999?
Yeah, I had the crit boost accessory and the boost damage accessory equipped with around 950 physical attack with setup
I really love Ochette. She is such a joy. I could play a whole game with her as a protagonist.
I like the other characters a lot too though. I am just saying.
When compared to the Hunter from the first game Ochette is basicallt God. Fuck I hated Hannit
Her weird accent was off-putting
>tfw want to hug Tressa
Why does she have so many cute outfits
Running increases the encounter rate.
But you also move faster.
If we're talking distance. Do you get further by walking or running?
Running
>I finally see Shooting Stars after wanting it all game
>it's used by fucking Mindt
FUCK YOU BITCH GIVE IT BACK
I WANT MY WIND/LIGHT/DARK COVERAGE BACK
I will never forgive them for hosing down the secret classes so badly
The secret classes give you easier access to the setups in octopath 1. You even get inventor early game with zero effort. What are you bitching about?
the new secret classes are more fun
I agree in general, I just really liked Shooting Stars as an ability.
Kinda miss the "Attack With All Elements" skill, too. We didn't even get a weak version of it like we did with Warmaster's via Sixfold Strike.
How did you guys explore the world? Did you rush for everyone’s chapter 1’s? And did you guys just rotate the other members with your main character? Or make 2 separate parties?
>ran around and recruited everybody
>make two parties
>do the entire stories for Party 1
>use Party 1 to unlock all 4 Advanced Jobs (MC was Hikari, lucky)
>use 2 Jobs in Party 1 (Armsmaster, Inventor) and save the other two for Party 2
>with the crazy weapons, all jobs, near infinite money, and all towns available from start, treat Party 2 as a New Game+
>still have some dungeons left over so it's not like they're left in the dark completely, plus they travel by night so more EXP inherently
It all comes out in the wash. They even ended up slightly higher leveled than Party 1 come endgame, but not by too much. In OT1, I kept Olberic (my MC) in the party from start to finish and all the levels were fucked, so I don't think it's the right call.
I never removed Partitio and Osvald in my party and at the end its was pretty ok. They were 61-62 the rest were 55-58.
If anything, I feel like the level curve in this game is just much smoother overall. My two parties were averaged around Level 45 and 50ish respectively near the end of their two stories. I was worried I was skipping over too many encounters with group one since I was running Evasive Maneuvers and traveling by daylight, but they only ended up a couple levels below.
Fighting enemies above your level (which is encouraged thanks to Break) nets you insane levels, so there's never really any issue.

I explored until I was around level 60 before I did anyone's story
I was switching characters around for all Chapter 2's, but then I just stuck with one party until I finished their stories, and now I'm having a blast treating the second party like a Bew Game +. Area levels barely matter because of all the advanced equipment so even at mid-20's I'm doing just fine at the story bosses recommended for level 34+.
>armsmaster staff attack animation
They had a shit ton of fun designing these over the top animations
This game desperately needs a mod that doubles or triples boss HP
>HP bloat bad!
>We need HP bloat!
what did Ganker mean by this
Ganker is not a singular entity
I greatly enjoyed Untold 2's boss/foe HP for example because it pushed the party to its limit instead of allowing me to braindead through with burst strats.
different contexts. part of enjoying octopath is finding all the fun combinations, but then the bosses die in like 2 rounds if you use any of the fun combinations so you barely get to use any of them.
unequip your weapons retards
If you have half a brain you'll never see most of the boss mechanics because they explode in turn 3
Hopefully we see a Journey's End style mod eventually
>want to have a satisfying final chapter fight while going all-out with the skills and gear you collected
>hurr just gimp yourself retard
>hurr boss is too easy
>hurrrrr boss is now too hard
durrrrrr
Anons, final boss first form music or 2nd form?
The track while you're talking to Oboro It's track 114 on the OST list
Seriously what the hell is with fucking darkling and why ochette gets the most bullshit final chapter boss
Just hit it really hard and defend a bunch until the scripted events end and the game lets you deplete its last hp.
>the game lets you deplete its last hp.
assuming it didn't nuke most of your party already with 1hp+immediate followups bullshit
sound like a skill issue
>bro jsut look up the boss gimmick beforehand
meanwhile most final chapter bosses are a complete joke, even the ones not intended to be jokes like train or dolcinea
You do realize that it doesn't lower all 4 members' HP to 1 at the same time right? If all 4 die at the same time I don't know about you but that's definitely a skill issue. That fight was just annoying at worst.
I got filtered by Dolcinaea and gameover'd on the first try while I beat the rest soundly without many problems, other than losing Temenos at the last turn for both Ochette's and Hikari's.
