Oh boy I sure do enjoy 400 hours of teleporting around instanced zones watching unvoiced NPCs with dead pan faces /emoting and flapping their gums about some cliche anime shit before I can actually play the game.
Friendly reminder that if you choose to skip the MSQ with a boost you'll be harassed, doxxed and maybe even receive death threats.
For someone who doesn't like reading you fucking put more text in the OP than the game
The Japanese famously can't write for shit, so why did they think 400 hours of writing, unvoiced cutscenes and bad melodramatic voice acting (because Japs can't act) was a good idea?
>Played Bravely Default
>150 hour JRPG on the 3ds
>Is fully voice acted, every last bit of dialogue (save for the rare character interaction moments while you're traveling)
>Play FFXIV, game made by the same company btw and with a significantly higher budget
>Barely any of it, when you include all of the non-MSQ story content, is voiced
Somebody explain to me why the fuck this is acceptable?
XIV would be over 1000gb if it was fully voiced.
AI will fix this in the future anyway. Someone's already working on an AI voice reader for WoW.
Lol no. If you use addons in FFXIV you get banned. No refunds
what will this mean for novice network pvp job identity and the novice network gm?
will this allow armor motivations to flourish for third party dungeon paths?
This wouldn't be a problem if they cut down on dialogue. There is WAY too much fucking text in this game, characters will regularily say something in 100 words that could've been said in 5. If they actually got a fucking editor to cut out most of the useless dialogue there wouldn't be anywhere near as much to voice act.
Anon, you do know there's such a thing as atmosphere, right?
If your characters are gonna spout exposition, at least let it fit them, and not just be some dry, grey slop that conveys no character traits. That's just going to make every character seem more like an npc than they already will by virtue of it being a game.
That's the problem you have with a lot of story games, where rather than characters interacting with other characters or with you, you have the writers just using the NPCs as straight up sockpuppets to tell the player what to do.

Anon it's called "brevity". Most stories don't have this problem. FFXIV is notorious for being overwritten with characters never knowing when to shut the fuck up as they just go on and on and on and repeat themselves. There's also a thing called "show, don't tell". You can build atmosphere and worldbuild without ANY dialogue at all. Maybe watch some good fiction with actual competent writers who understand these basic literary concepts instead of the autistic writers at CBU3 who think they need to explain every insignificant detail to you repeat the same point over and over as if they believe you didn't get it the first time a character said it.
>“I have only made this letter longer because I have not had the time to make it shorter.”
— Blaise Pascal, mathematician and physicist.
>“Not that the story need be long, but it will take a long while to make it short.”
— Henry David Thoreau, writer and philosopher.
>“If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter.”
— Marcus Tullius Cicero, philosopher and statesman.
>Most stories don't have this problem.
Ludicrous, lmao.
>Immediate spergfit
Yeah, I figured. Brevity is important when relaying basic information in as concise a manner as possible. Not when creating a world or setting scene, numpty. You're not playing on the go.
>Yeah, I figured. Brevity is important when relaying basic information in as concise a manner as possible. Not when creating a world or setting scene, numpty. You're not playing on the go.
You can tell a world through visuals, as I said. 14 does not do this. It tells you EVERYTHING in autistic detail.
Also the world itself has to actually be interesting to warrant the overt attention you're demanding your audience give it. 14's world is extremely shallow and functions as little more than a setpiece for the MSQ. Go to the FFXIV wiki and see how utterly barren virtually every article is. Compare the utterly nonexistence lore each job has compared to the classes in WoW. Like compare FFXIV's paladin lore to WoW's. If you're gonna try and make me give a shit about your world it better be an interesting one which FFXIV's is not and never has been, and the writers have actively been attempting to explain away or destroy what little interesting aspects the world ever had.
I remember having this same argument with Overlord fans when I told them that derailing the story to focus on the gay, generic lizardmen was a waste of time and they told me "well no the writers are just W O R L D B U I L D I N G anon". Yeah I don't care, your worldbuilding is trash because your world is shallow and uninspired. God I hated the lizardmen arc.
>You can tell a world through visuals,
Yes, but the NPCs aren't just tell to tell a world. They're also telling about themselves or other characters.
You don't need to write a long-winded post just to cry that the style of writing isn't to your liking, anon. It does nothing for either of us.
>Like compare FFXIV's paladin lore to WoW's.
What paladin lore in WoW? The thrice-retconned garbage that makes everyone vomit? Go lick windchime boots.
XIV's paladin lore is shit by virtue of them basically being knights rather than true paladins, but that doesn't change that WoW's worldbuilding is downright garbage.
I'm a brainlet but I think...you're mad that they explain the lore? Do you want them to handwave stuff just for the sake of le deep lore?
I personally don't think that approach works for most cases.
For example, with the cure for tempering they explained the process step by step to detail how hard it is to conceive that such a process is possible to our characters. If they handwaved the process too much then us as the audience will ask "duhh its so obvious why didnt they think of that?"
And when they do explain the mechanics of it step by step, it keeps us engaged with the world and how it actually works. And in the meanwhile you can attach a character to that process for character development and see that character struggle and what he/she learned from the supposed "overexplained" thing.
He is upset that characters have traits and their own lexicon and aren't just used to dump exposition about the world in as few characters as humanly possible. He is doubly upset that CBU3 doesn't show the things these characters are talking about. Writing to him is an efficiency process: you relay concepts asap and if you don't do it as rapidly as possible, you're a failed writer.
Fully ignoring that character writing is its own beast that does not care at all about those rules. People in real life don't robotically go down a summarized list of events or tasks either.
I agree that shortening explanations for the sake of just shortening it is not a good thing, but I do feel xiv does have too much exposition sometimes though (maybe for new players idk)
Like in 6.5 when Zero went to the first I was really annoyed how they reintroduced those characters as if the WoL didnt really know them, so I do feel the writing was lacking there
Or in bozja where Cid did thing to do thing, and it was really fucking boring to go through it
must the scions die for deep lore to continue into the new saga?
can we show and tell the lore of mechanics for struggle on the he/she for approach?
>Compare the utterly nonexistence lore each job has compared to the classes in WoW. Like compare FFXIV's paladin lore to WoW's.
Are you realling going to try telling us that WoW lore is good? That inconsistent mess that even the writers and devs don't even bother following? Go get better taste.
Quintessential pseudcore post.
will the brevity story meta remystify aether for bozja types?
>will the brevity story meta remystify aether for bozja types?
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
>The Japanese famously can't write for shit
>said Anon while posting on Ganker
Ganker is a US website for English speakers. The English world has some of the greatest writers of all time. Japan has none.
You are on an ANIME WEBSITE
And anime is dogshit, no wonder the site attracts so many reprobates, go figure.
Ganker is not an anime website anymore. You have dedicated containment boards for animeslop.
>no wonder the site attracts so many reprobates
Last I checked reddit is far more welcoming to self-fellating psudeointellectuals. Maybe you should be there instead of here.
I don't know about doxxing or sending death threats. Calling you a homosexual is more than enough.
>Amanda Achen, vocalized of songs like Flow, announced she'd be streaming FFXIV
>Community got hyped, streamers like Arthars, Ponto and Mr Happy volunteer to become her mods
>Fastforward 2 months later
>She barely get's any views, vods get 1k views
>Not even 100 subs.
>She's only at level 15 MSQ quests
Damn even Grinding Gears is faster than her. What went so horribly, horribly wrong? Doesn't the XIV community normally eat up big celebs who stream this game?
They did until Asmongold fucked them over.
FFXIV fans seriously believed they could turn Asmon into a FF streamer who would shit on WoW 24/7, so they bombarded his chat, made fanart and donated tens of thousands of dollars begging him to play the game. For some reason FFXIV have a grudge against WoW.
So he played it, played them, and then dropped the game after 30 hours after saying it was boring and shit. To this day FFXIV fans still spam his chat asking him to play the game and seethe their minds out whenever Asmon watches a video about FFXIV and mocks it.
And then everyone clapped
We're talking about the most deranged, irrational and poor taste fans in gaming. That's what happened.
but what about the kate bozja type a/b meta and the cat ear hoods?
can this be applied to demystification of aether and the twelve?
What possesses you people to create this insane headcanon?
>It's actually FFXIV that has a grudge against WoW
first they ignore you
then they make fun of you
then they fight you (you are here)
It's good. Game is crawling back with barely any social media presence. Only better for the game.
She's grifting you tards like Asmon and Rich did.
Nobody cares. FF fans will support any content creator as long as they are entertaining but the second they stop being entertained or interested they drop them forever. They are toys used for amusement.
FFXIV players being delusional as always
That's literally what happens. A lot of streamers that tried to jump on the bandwagon thought they finally made it until they were dropped.
Nobody cares, post the fat lalafell.
>this person is tangentially related to the game, why aren't you paying attention to everything they do in life?
why are wowfugess like this?
XIV is a terrible game to stream
Your choices are:
>Play through the MSQ for the first time and play up the sad moments for your viewers
>Raid, except nobody raids without plugins so you get banned for it
>PVP, a gamemode that highlights the biggest problems with XIV
Legitimately would be better off streaming fucking runescape doing a slayer task or some shit
Trying to cash in on her celebrity while she can. But randonly streaming is never going to get you anywhere and spending all your time on yourself is even less reason for FF people to watch.
The whole reason why people watch other people play FF is to see how they react to things.
And once again you show up within the first few replies, even without putting XIV in the title.
Also interestingly how immediately the >>vg fag appears to tell us to go to /vg/, right after your low-effort post of just a gif of your modbeast lala dancing with no actual contribution to discussion. Why it's almost as if.....
>WHY ARENT YOU ENGAGING WITH MY DOOMPOSTING???
I'm not OP.
Also we already know you lalafags are falseflagging wowtards larping as XIV whiteknights to shitpost and drown out actual discussion under the false guise of being defenders of the game trying to drive out "doomers" as you label anyone who discusses the game in anyway (regardless of if they're criticizing it or not) as being doomers or shitposters as you contribute nothing yourselves but spamming your ugly avatars and trying to piss as many people off as possible to draw attention to yourselves and away from actual game discussion.
>>>/vg
They physically can't discuss the game how many times are we going to go over this
That is the game dumbass. Do you buy a book from the bookstore and then bitch about how it's not voice acted?
cool
Ummm
Uhhhh
Ummm
OP gay
Remember when somebody last night proved you are literally here 24 hours a day?
And he didn't even document all of your posts during that 24 hour timeframe. You got wierldy quiet after that
>Play free trial up through end of HW
>Skip cutscenes, watch on Youtube while doing content instead.
>Buy EW, continue doing this.
>Beat story.
>Uninstall.
Game enjoyed.
sometimes i wonder why the janny autosages ffxiv threads on Ganker when they’re filled with doomers and people shitting on it, seems like something he would clap and cheer about
Because its the FFXIV community that brigades Ganker for /vg/ and discord and spams doomer threads about other games with people shitting on it.
FFXIV fans dish it out, but can't take it.
Look at
and
Anon is having a meltdown
will the meltdown story beat provide a bridge for the gap between midcore and casual glamour?
armor chad glam needs to be nestled into the glamour meta for second life to go the way of the dodo for immersion and remystification
Who cares? maybe waste your time on a less shit, dying game.
but im not a wow player
I mean you basically are, especially since YoshiP credits copying WoW ("the greatest MMORPG of all time"), with saving FFXIV in ARR
No one knows or cares about FFXIV, that's why it's metrics are falling across the board.
>WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
Why are you obsessed with a game you don't play?
well you were the one who mentioned a shit, dying game so I felt required to point out that you are clearly in the wrong thread, and that for that, you should be making your way to the wow thread
simple as
Rent free.
FFXIV has no engagement. It's a niche game. WoW is a household name often cited as one of the most influential and popular games of all time.
i just answered your question
so go off to the appropriate thread for your shit dying game
but will engagement demystification lead to the reignition of twitch metrics for eceleb links?
by following this we can engage in limbal ring glows for the absolution of cat ear hoods and vpr hype
>rent free
>sits in a thread for a game, sperging out, rather than going to the thread for the game he's trying to shill
blizzard isn't sending their best
>most influential and popular games of all time.
You must be a time travler from right around the time Wrath came out. Back when everyone was Making MMOs that were 90% wow clones.
Times changed Grand Pa. Riot has more brand power than blizzard. Genshin is the bigger MMO that people look to now. People would rather play Fortnite Classic than spit on a wow player.
>Genshin is the bigger MMO that people look to now.
>no character creator
do people just not like roleplaying? I can never get into games without some kind of character creator
but will the metric meta explain the mmo genre for game identification and rpg stats?
cross class skills taught us that the player metric meta leads to obession motivations for the games you do not play
damn did hrt pills hit a lil bit to hard my fellow wowie troonie?
>genshin
>apex
>cyberpunk
>fortnite
xiv is losing that one
>Game Awards
The same Game Awards that takes bribes from publishers, platforms obscure games and gives GOTY to TLOU2?
Game Awards mean nothing lmao
but that will lead to armor chad renaissance for the subscription based game
this will further explain zero character arc for xi cross class skills and netcode
wrong thread
the wow thread is 2 blocks down
>reach endgame
>log in
>do your daily roulettes
>do your beast tribes
>check on your shitty island
>do your crafter/gatherer deliveries
>do a week's worth of daily roulettes to get one piece of tome gear that'll be outdated in the next patch
>all the other side content that rewards you with gear (relics, raids, eureka, bozja) is just used as glam
>the real endgame is dressing yourself up to look nice and collecting mounts
>you might get lucky and get a house one day but if you do you have to stay subbed otherwise it gets demolished
>i played this game 18 hours a day every single day for 3 years and i ran out of content
>where is the content? no please ignore my missing savage, criterion, solo dd and ultimate clears
I'll do that shit when I'm able to unsync it. Why force myself to do it when it's new and have a static that spends weeks trying to clear one fight just to move onto the next, all for what's really the reward is pieces of glamour? Come up with a better retort.
Concession accepted
Man I just don't remember older MMOs being like this. I can't explain why but I miss how simple it was when older MMOs just made you grind mobs from zone to zone to level up. Then when you reach endgame you have to rely of getting rare loot from a mob drop or instanced dungeon/raid, instead of it being a guaranteed drop or giving you currency that you gradually collect to just outright buy the item from an NPC. Older MMOs did world events better too.
Unironically WoW started the shift from old to new. It was developed as the casual alternative to EverQuest.
>Man I just don't remember older MMOs being like this.
Don't fall for nostalgia anon. The truth is that most of the old MMOs were only grindy and slow, there was no real depth or difficulty. The only reason people tough those game were hard or complicated it's because they were young during a time when the internet was young. If you know what you are doing, even EverQuest is easy as hell and can be cleared in a just a few weeks.
I mean you can probably still find old WoW raids that filter the fuck out of people even with there being guides all over youtube.
I'm happy for you. Or sorry.
Same character.
but it was okay when Morrowind did it
Damn, wow trannies sperging out today, what broke them this time?
OG getting TGA nominations and WoW being fucking irrelevant?
Or entire internet laughing at their marvel tier cutscenes?
ever since their new patch came out, it's just been constant abortions masquerading as story cutscenes for them
it's embarrassing
I've been killed twice for buying a story skip.
I did Aloalo Island (Variant) today.
It was nice.
I hope these variant dungeons eventually get added to a roulette.
I was just thinking about a variant roulette earlier today too, it makes sense now that there are 3 of them
Yep, and they'll only be adding more of them. At least one for 7.0 afaik. So 4 soon, and who knows how many more before 7.5.
They probably would make for pretty fun alt-dungeons like we have regular dungeon roulette. More engaging to me, at least.
Talk about Ryne
hot
Isn't she 16
yeah, legal in 1st world countries
17
15 and 11 months.
people assumed 16, but the only thing we knew was that she was around the same age as the twins (which she said herself at some point)
but EE III already gave her an actual age: 17
she carried 6.5
If oldschool MMOs were superior, you wouldn't expect them to be dead..
>went for e12s blu then planned to unsub
>then I went for p12s, then planned to unsub
now I completed current raids and im craving for more, confronting ever mightier foes, dancing ever closer to the precipice
what ultimate should I go for as an ultimatelet
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
I WAS NEITHER PRETTY OR POPULAR IN HIGH SCHOOL. I NEED TO REPLICATE WHAT SHOUD'VE BEEN IN LIMSA AND NOVICE NETWORK. A KEY FACET OF MY PERSONALITY IS MAKING SNARKY QUIPS TOWARDS THE CURRENT COMMUNITY OUTCAST WHILE STANDING AROUND THE CITY IN MY NEWEST SLUTGLAM. IF I DON'T HAVE AN ETERNAL BOND ERP PARTNER TO LEAD MY SIMP ARMY IN PRAISING ME I WILL LITERALLY HAVE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN COPE WITH LIVING WITH MY PARENTS STILL. I'M POPULAR ON THE INTERNET MOM
Erm
What the heck
I get skippers in my raid groups all the time and nobody cares though?
>same posts with the same bait images
Man I would get tired of this
>Genshin
>MMO
>XIV
>MMO
>Mario
>MMO
This garbage is dead. let it go
