>A game mechanic is bad
Why is the speed crit thing brought up so much, its not a bug or mistake; its a design choice.
Fire Spin and such are unironically unfun but speed crits really don't deserve the rep they have for being different.
Its not that terrible, most mons that are super fast had shit attack. Its a design around mechanic for flavor.
Fast mons don't actually hit hard but do more precise hits.
Its a reward for redundant speed, and especially in gen 1 where stats weren't as minmaxed due to different mechanics is sorta a good thing.
It should be counter balanced by giving slower mons a ton more defense and special but with gen 1 mechanics that would mean the slow mons are now hitting twice as hard too when they use special types.
It shouldn't be "a ton" as gen 1 mons are all naturally bulky, the amount of bulk the "good" slow mons have is already fine.
Gen 1 "competitive" isn't lacking in slow mons, so clearly the balance is somehow somewhat there despite most of gen 1s design decisions being a trainwreck.
Most mons have high HP if they're non-special and slow, so they're still pretty bulky in that side too.
>Speed training would also be crit training
Not really. Critrate depends on base speed, not actual speed. Speed EVs and level ups wouldn't change the critrate. However, leveling up affects the crit damage, if not the critrate itself.
>roll over to negative
There are no negative unsigned integers. Only stat overflow I know is with Thick Club, but that is gen 2.
Meanwhile, defense boosted Eternatus-Eternamax actually overflows defense at 654.
>speed proportional to critical hit
I get that is game breaking for both the attacker (crits ignore stat boost) and defender, but it made sense to me that something attacking faster would be able to target weak points more easily and therefore would get a "critical" hit >focus energy cuts critical hit rate
Yeah, this sucks but I don't know anyone who ever used this move then or even in gens that worked properly >Wrap and bind took your turn away
This mechanic should have been similar to how protect would work in later gens with successive attacks losing accuracy but maintaining the ability to cripple the opponent >raising a stat too high causes roll over
Sucks, but stat raising/dropping moves are somewhat rare in competitive and the risk is posed more to the person boosting own stats than anyone else
yeah it's completely broken by today's standards because it was made like fricking 25 years ago. What are they even mad about? It's a quarter century-old game, who gives a shit it was broken like hell it was still playable and great
Why I don't see people shitting themselves about early FF games that are broken in much more hilarious and disastrous ways?
I hate this chart. I love RBY, but if you're going to nitpick it at least mention some of the actual grievances people have with it like bug, poison, flying and fighting mons having access to no good stab moves.
Also, >if the enemy stat ups you're fricked
Discounting tradebacks (tradebacks are not RBY) as well as Mew and Mewtwo (weren't intended to be a part of regular competition by nintendo) there are approximately 0 swords dance/amnesia users that threaten to end a game before turn 15 because they had a chance to set up in RBY.

Kids nowadays are b***hes.
They complain about everything and like shit like the new fire starters. The new games are so easy because they are not smart enough to handle any adversity.
So you will see those b***hes complaining and agreeing that this make the game unplayable, when actually they are b***hes
You're the one that's upset. You people have been seething about this for years where I'm the one saying "who gives a shit that a 25 year old game is flawed to hell and back". You're the malding one here. Rent free.
the FF Fandom doesn't have a genwunner equivalent.
yes, there are people who choose FF1 as their favorite game in the series, but
1) they don't say obnoxious shit like "everything after the first game is not real Final Fantasy"
2) they don't insist that all the ports of FF1 are inferior to the original buggy NES version

>Toxic not working properly >Criticals not benefiting from Attack buffs >1/256 >Roar not working properly >Hyper Beam ignoring its penalty >Rest not working properly >Sleep not working properly
These are by no means “minor” bugs
idk comp meta has been fine for liike... 30 years?
no one cares anymore and if roar/toxic not working is preventing you from picking up the game you were probably never going to be a big deal in it's community. >but but you're not super popular with 500,000,000 normies watching your game on goysloptube!
good. frick normies and their community ruining bullshit.

99% of players didn't notice any of these except for Focus Energy being broken, Hyper Beam not having cooldown if it KO'd and crits being based on speed. There's a reason everyone loves Pokemon like Dugtrio and Persian.
Be nice OP. The DSkiddies need their coping mechanism to deal with the deep, deep trauma of watching Facebook normies mercilessly call the Ice Cream dumb.
Post your face.
I know you're not an actual genwunner because actual genwunners don't post here and they don't use your new age buzzwords. You're just one of those discord kiddies who's desperately pretending to be one because you wish you were an oldgay and because your contrarianism against /vp/ gets you attention.
Yes, it is.
Stats still roll over if they go up too high, it's just not likely to happen except with Eternamax Eternatus.
It can't happen in normal gameplay after yellow.

Fire Spin and such are unironically unfun but speed crits really don't deserve the rep they have for being different.
It's not a bug but also a terrible idea.
Acting first is already its own reward, you absolutely don't need to do more damage on top of it.

Just make fast pokemon have weaker moves or attack stats. Speed training would also be crit training which is dope

Causing a specdrop with psychic to a +4 Mewtwo also triggers an underflow in gen 1

that picture was made just to break balls but pokésharts not only took it to heart but have made various copycats with the other games
yeah it's completely broken by today's standards because it was made like fricking 25 years ago. What are they even mad about? It's a quarter century-old game, who gives a shit it was broken like hell it was still playable and great
Op's pic still makes oldgays upset, hilarious
Getting replies must mean people are mad! Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Its a dumb chart sure, but its really not worth losing sleep over.
okay grandpa don't worry we're almost to your bed

Hyper Beam skipping the recharge if it KO'd is actually a good thing and the only thing that made it usable.

Odd cope
1/256 is minor. Those are extremely low odds for an attack missing and attacks miss all the time in RPGs
>Excuses
>it doesn’t work the same as my zoomer games so that means it doesn’t work properly

I'm willing to bet the DS is older than you are.
I hope you mean it, I would like the easy money.

Nta but I've been playing since Blue. Or is that not what a genwunner is?
everybody knows the game were held togheter by ductape but they're still kino
