Oh shit ash vs cynthia its happening?? Let's go

  2. 2 years ago

It's gonna be a disaster where Lucario solos everything else, how sad.
It hurts even worse considering Cynthia had the Lucario thing going for far longer.

      Anonymous

I mean ash is only down 1 here, I doubt no other mon takes anything down, though Lucario will obviously be the finisher

      Anonymous

So when Infernape solos most of Pauls team it's okay, but when Lucario does it it's somehow not okay?

        Anonymous

It wasn't okay when Infernape did it, and it's not okay when Charizard did it to Gary either.
Ash vs Drake is still the best 6 v 6 battle of the series.

The number of moves wasn't the point. The point was all of Ash's pokemon played a significant role in beating strong pokemon, which Ash actually helped by making sure he chose a good pokemon to beat the opposing one, all the way up until the strongest one who couldn't handle the combined strength of Ash's remaining mons.
Battles suck when there's less strategy, some of Ash's pokemon are rendered basically useless, and asspulls are abound.

            >Ash is finally an elite trainer
            >doesn't counter team and use the mons from his old regions like Sinnoh Ash did

            What's the point

This too. He's just using the same team he's had throughout the Journeys, he has no major strategy or basis for the composition of his team. and he already wasted his two answers to Garchomp.

      Anonymous

Cynthia has 2 pokémon out in the picture against 3 of Ash.
It's going to be a typical battle where each takes one of the other team in turns. Ash probably is taking one down after this.

Yeah it's strange. I thought they were making Lance and Iris look bad with Dragonite to make Ash look good because they wanted to balance having 3 in the tournament, but if Ash's Dragonite gets KO'd easily too then what is the point of giving him one?

Ash wins all battles through plot armor. Where were all these plot armor cries when he beat one of the gods of Alola, when heat beat the "unbeatable" Champion of OI with his 10 move Dragonite, when Ash defeats any gym leader, etc? Seems like a lot of cope.

Have you actually watched the show? Almost everything you listed is something Ash worked towards and earned over the course of the series. SM League was the culmination of his efforts across the series AND he had a UB and Mythical. He and Pikachu had faced Koko multiple times, their rivalry was established and there was stable progress towards the win.
Admittedly I do not remember enough of Ash vs Drake to know how well written that fight was but most of his battles against gym leaders involve prior strategy based on any advice given ahead of time as well as impromptu strategizing as the battle progresses and training in preparation for rematches should he lose.
The reason people are calling plot armour for the current season is because he has literal actual plot armour where he cannot lose unless it's for the sake of an arc like with Bea or it's an irrelevant battle to the PWC like when Regice offscreened Pikachu despite Pikachu having experience Regice slaying. You get these weirdly written battles where 70% of the battle is Pikachu or Lucario getting brutalized, 20% is spectators commenting and Ash grimacing and then 10% Ash actually putting up a fricking fight. The passivity and the amount of damage his Pokemon take per battle, especially compared to previous series, makes you think he really shouldn't be winning. Though tbf JN just has shit battle writing in general.

This shitty anime is so obssessed about Ash being the underdog even though he's clearly not anymore.

          Anonymous

Seriously, it just comes off as patronizing. If the show were actually consistently written, Ash vs Steven would have been far more evenly matched, if not an outright stomp. Pikachu alone should have torn shit up.

        >Have you actually watched the show? Almost everything you listed is something Ash worked towards and earned over the course of the series.

So just like getting to battle Leon? Yup. Checkmate. Ash has plot armor and will always have plot armor. Every win he as ever had is plot armor. Always the underdog, always scremaing his Pokemons name in worry for fake tension because we know he's going to win every badge anyway. It's all so tiresome. What a shit main character he is.

        Anonymous

He had to use everything he had to take down Drake’s Dragonite. The effort he put into that battle puts to shame most of his wins in JN. The Drake, Gary, Brandon and Paul battles are examples of underdog Ash being triumphant done right.

I said before, Ash vs Drake is still the best 6v6 match of the series.
Drake starts with Ditto because the mirror match and high level of his Ditto often throws off his opponents early and make them unable to regain their footing. Ash answers this with his strongest pokemon, Pikachu, who barely scrapes out a win through grit and being more experienced using Agility and Thunderbolt. Pikachu is still able to battle, but he has to be put in the back for the rest of the match until the end when he's needed most.
Squirtle vs Onix is a tough fight because of how massively powerful Drake's Onix was, but thanks to type advantage and a good combo of moves, Squirtle pulls out the next KO.
Then when Gengar comes in, Tauros is doing okay at the start but then quickly has to be switched out thanks to Confuse Ray and self damage.
Lapras vs Gengar then ends in a double knock out thanks to both hitting as hard as they can with Ice Beam and Night Shade.
Then Tauros comes back in to have a drawn out slugfest with Venusaur, that Tauros wins thanks to launching Venusaur into the air and dodging a Solar Beam.
Bulbasaur does his best against Electabuzz, but Electabuzz is too strong, leaving Charizard as Ash's only fresh pokemon left. Charizard takes huge damage from a Thunderpunch, but still lands the Seismic Toss.
This leaves Ash with a 4 to 1 lead, but Drake's ace is completely fresh. It's well written.
D-nite is too much for any one of Ash's pokemon, but all together they wear him down and finish with an effective point-blank Thunder

He had to use everything he had to take down Drake’s Dragonite. The effort he put into that battle puts to shame most of his wins in JN. The Drake, Gary, Brandon and Paul battles are examples of underdog Ash being triumphant done right.

This, and the Drake and Brandon battles are even higher tiered then the Gary and Paul battles, cause they don't rely on "Ash's big evolved fire type is just too strong", for the answer for any of the KOs.
They actually subvert that by having Charizard fight well but still get outplayed. He doesn't get the win himself, but he pulls his weight enough that the other pokemon can secure victory.

Yup. This whole thing is just to set up the finale of Garchomp VS Shillcario. Marketing already made it clear that's where this is going by highlighting that both Garchomp and Lucario were raised by their respective trainers since they were eggs.
