Old thing good. Old thing remind Grug of time when Grug was small grug. No had hunt, big grugs take care of Grug, world small and safe.

New thing bad. New thing remind Grug that Grug no am small grug no more. No can stay in cave, have to hunt meat, world big and scary.

Grug angry that Grug no can be small grug forever. Grug scared of everything not Grug. Am threat to Grug. Why Grug no can be small grug forever? Grug scream and hit things until Grug make world be way Grug want it be. No care if no work. Grug scream louder, hit harder.

Maybe if Grug am alone, Grug can be safe.

    Grug just want be safe.

    Unga bunga.

I have taken so many clips in games with the intent to clip a few seconds out to make gifs/webms like this and I forget every time.

    there are cycles in everything
there are many things that are better today than in the past, just as there are many things that are worse today that in the past
the only way you can enjoy the modern games industry is by not being used to what it used to be

This was my favorite era of games (broadly speaking, I just mean earlier 3D in general). There's just something that feels so optimistic about all of it, the image in my mind that it creates is a blue sky. Even listening to soundtracks from games back then, they feel the same way, example:

If I'm going to play a game I'd like to at least be able to get an hour of playtime out of it in a single sitting (not that I will, I just want there to be enough meat on the bones to accomplish that if I go the distance)...

One problem I have with most new games is that as far as I give a shit, there's no equivalent to HL1's AI pattern and behavior on different npcs and the usage of fog/snow in a technical standpoint on Silent Hill 1 during their time.
