    >Why is nobody talking about it here?
because people with a jailbreak play video games?

    what happened

It's been jailbroken a hundred times by now, and each time Sony plugs the hole it with an update.

It's up to 11.00 now, which is basically 100% of all ps4's ever made

    How difficult is the process?

I don't know about 11.0, but the 9.0 was fairly straightforward. hardest part is fiddling with a USB drive to start the jailbreak from a cold boot, it just fails to load sometimes for no reason at all, if does that, try again until it works. In terms of difficulty, the tutorials out there are pretty comprehensive. If you come across any issue, its likely some in comments had the same issue. Read through the comments, just in case. it is just time consuming it will take longer than you expect especially if its your first time doing it.

It's finally happened. PS4 has finally continued to be jailbroken.

      >PS4 has finally continued to be jailbroken.
no. the "jailbreak" is a soft jailbreak. it's insanely unstable and buggy.
      t. poorgay who has actually being using it for several years.

the fact that is was technically hacked doesn't mean anything for us. I would say to this day the PS4 is practically for the end user the most secure console.

Homebrew could put games on the console

Doing the jailbreak is easy, but it's not persistent if you have to restart the console. So, I have took one of my old raspberry pi's and set it up to automatically run PPPwn if I need to restart it for some reason. I'm playing some games I kind of ignored before because they were console exclusive at the time (just started Last of Us)

Only the first time. Once it successfully transfers gold hen, you won't need it anymore.

does the jailbreak work consistently? i hated how you need to retry many times in 7.02 and 9.00 to get it working upon every bootup

  10. 2 weeks ago

I swear to fricking god I left it on 9.03
Yet, when I plugged it back in the other day, it was on 11.02.
Frick my older brother, that moron must have updated it to replay dark souls 3 for the 12th time

      buy a new SSD
download the 9.03 firmware on it
here you go anon, upon boot do not connect to internet

        Anonymous

NTA but huh, i never knew about that. Im assuming the SSD is easily replaced and tutorials available on youtube?

          Anonymous

yeah sure, you literally remove the top cover if normal ps4/slim and remove one screw that keeps the drive in place, on ps4 pro it's on the back if I recall correctly
btw SSD actually improve loading times and shit with a decent difference, see YT for comparsions, just don't get cheap dramless garbage, maybe the Western Digital something, it will last you some time or go with the default samsung one
just backup your shit from the main drive like saves and shit (if you care)
once you reinstall the console firmware everything on the new ssd will be erased
once that's done you can restore your saves from the backup (if you care, otherwise skip this step), games you have can be reinstalled from disc
and only after that you can jailbreak the console

um pretty sure the firmware is saved on some kind of motherboard chip, not the secondary memory
the ssd/hdd stores the filesystem (games, low priority system files/folders and stuff)
the ps4's motherboard chip apparently stores like the current firmware and previous firmware, which is what the modchips take advantage of; it flashes the chip, but you can only "save" 2 firmware versions... its so people who want to have an offline 5.0 or whatever can play online on 11.50 or whatever by some kind of switch connected with the modchip.
nothing to do with the ssd
and the 2 versions is because of a failsafe mechanism in case there is something wrong with the newer firmware update or if an attempt at cfw/hfw is made, so the system goes back to the last functional firmware version

that'd be all of them, anon. and what's wrong with DMC3 level design and bosses? Only bad things I can recall are the box platforming room and arkham.

I literally kept my ps4 pro on 10.50 for so long for one fricking reason and that was the bloodborne patch. So far so good but it's a shame at how it still runs pretty meh. Not saying the patch isn't good but playing at forced 720p to BARELY hit the high 40s,50s in the super demanding areas is still a hummer.

does anyone elses ps4 sound like a jet engine? thats why i dont play mines anymore. i know you can replace the thermal paste but seems like a huge hassle if it was like ps3.

It does blow my mind that nobody seems to care about Sony imprisoning people, nor mock them for how often those people break out of jail.

  25. 2 weeks ago

Can you jailbreak PS5 already? That thing can play all PS4 stuffs right. If so is there a dual firmware system like switch? I like how you can play legit games online and just switch to cfw for pirated contents
