Then just call up your bank and just do a chargeback…?

Going up against Activision sounds like suicide to me

Not them, but you're right. A single person could NEVER sue Activision. You'd have to get every scammed person together and present a class action suit.

It may be suicide for an individual, but this would be grounds for class action. Those lawsuits are like catnip for lawyers.

EU consumer protection is the best bet, but they take years before managing to get their ass up.

It is genuinely illegal. We've hit the point where some companies believe they are beyond reproach by consumers and any government agency. They COULD be sued, but no one is gonna take on Activision's team of israelite lawyers on standby. Anyone who COULD do anything about it with government resources is being paid to do nothing. They're not worried about losing customers because they have a dedicated base of consoomers who will buy literally anything they do making it impossible to financially fail despite actively driving off new customers.

Why don't people know what an ombudsman is in this day and age?

You literally just contact your state/country's fair trading ombudsman and detail your dispute. They will mediate the dispute and force Blizzard to return your money. In such a clear-cut case like this it is hilariously easy and you will win.

I've used them to force a bank to give me money. A fricking israelite bank just because they took too long to supply a service.

Some countries don't have strong consumer laws like you might have.

I'm sure that's true but lets be honest the vast majority of people on this board are probably in a developed country. In Australia consumer laws are strong and I have no doubt the same it true in many many other countries.

It's just that people aren't aware of these options and instead think that emailing support or b***hing on reddit are their best bet. Wrong. Contact an ombudsman.

UK and Australia have stronger consumer laws than US

Are you going to sit there and tell me the US has no fair trading ombudsman at all to speak of?

Having stronger laws than the US does not mean the US has no consumer laws at all. In this case it's the most basic of basics, it is not a complicated case. It's more likely you've never actually checked what is possible.

                >no fair trading ombudsman at all to speak of
We do have them. Americans just don't understand how their own country works and what their rights are, so they're constantly taken advantage of.

                Thank you.

This is exactly my point. It seems like people don't know they have basic consumer rights.

For something so simple you don't need to waste your time going back-and-forth with Blizzard at all. You have already won just contact fair trading and they will bully the corpo for you. I see these threads and I'm genuinely horrified what people let companies get away with.

If they've broken a fair trading law they will be punished with any applicable fine. What will actually happen is a very high-level customer support rep will suddenly email you and offer to return your money. Amazing how quickly they want to be friendly.

Don't try and you get nothing.

The Fallguys guys actually offered refunds to anyone affected if they asked tho, at least I got mine really fast, I just told them my coins dissapeared and had no idea what I bought, they told me what it was and asked if I wanted the refund.
I mean, Epic has a straightforward refund system for fortnite
