There are 2 DLCs to be released yet: continuation of low-level side campaign from first season pass and Citadel-like adventure for the main campaign.
the side campaign is separate and the citadel thing says its supposed to take place before the final battle so presumably you could go all the way to the end of the game and still play it when it comes out

Because I liked the Crusade mechanics in WOTR but I felt there wasn't enough shit to conquest, I was expecting to siege another huge city and have multiple places to recruit units from but it was all Drezen, so how much meat does Kingmaker actually have? Also best class/build for most plot hooks please.

Here is how it goes

When you do your companion quests and talk with them you can SEE the change in them even if its minor, and when you do the main quest there is a clear visual of how things change depending on your actions. You never actually SEE how the crusade stuff effects anything, you are just told. Do you see what im trying to say? You can pick all the crusade stuff randomly and you will never see any difference walking around drezen or the world.
Stop lying, those things actually can affect the endings you get and you do get certain level of reactivity involving them, like having your capital filled with golems if you accept that one dwarf's deal to make them

Yeah crusade and city management feel like some minigame they force you to play but it actually has no influence on the actual game only the actual game has minor influence on the minigame like getting new unit and shit.
Overall I wish they would have just dropped that shit completely. It doesn't belong in a CRPG. The time they spent on it they could have fleshed out some mythic paths instead that got almost zero love or content.

It lasts 10 minutes per level too, so you can just use scrolls and it will last you the whole dungeon. It's such a great spell.
You should put freedom of movement on everyone after every rest, it last for HOURS. Every buff with the 10 min / level descriptor should go on everyone in your party. Freedom of movement is honestly one of the best spells in the game
freedom of movement has a disadvantage of being a lvl 4 spell, same level as death ward, crusader's edge and a number of other super useful buffs. it's fucking retarded, how all the best buffs in the game are lvl 4 and then we have the absolute draught of lvl 5 and 6 spells, where literally nothing is good
6 is when you get heal and harm. But yeah all the higher level spells kind of suck don't they? Apart from one or two buff spells that stand out like seamantle heroic proportions etc. I often take metamagic on my clerics so death ward lasts longer and use the level 5 slots for it.

Empty maps, you can't makes builds, zero companion interaction, quest are painfully dull, story is nothing but chasing the bad dude, ups that wasn't him, chase this one instead. The only positive I see here is that Sarevok has cool design and low level atmosphere. I recommend to drop those nostalgia goggles.

Yes, it's very strong. There is a well known infusion called Deadly Earth that basically trivializes the whole game, it creates a huge area that deals half your kinetic blast damage to everyone who starts their turn in there, it also counts as difficulty terrain so enemies are slowed while walking through, if you add things like bowling infusion enemies are tripped if they get damaged by it. You can literally just throw an empowered maximized deadly earth and just watch enemies die trying to reach you.
Yes but the order you pick elements will change how your experience. For starters I dont recommend taking an energy blast starting off due to enemy element resistances (but it will allow you to easily destroy the water elemental in the maze because it targets touch AC).

Second playthroughs can be quite varied. This game is fantastic for it due to the differing mythic paths with specific ones being highly varied i.e Angel and Demon.
I would personally say to start a run now and by the time you finish it, the DLC will be out and perfect to incorporate into a second playthrough. Hell two of the DLC will be specifically a side story with a whole new non-Mythic PC.

You are lacking content, interesting characters, losing good mythic abilities, and have a shitty mentor for at least the last important chapter of the game solely to be disappointed you didn't stay your original path. All that hard work you put into your character- upgrading abilities, looking forward to your path's exclusive content, jumping through flower fields, putting up with Hal's bullshit. All of it has one simple result: You traded out a cool mythic path for a lacking one. Your mythic abilities are bugged and suck, and you have no content to look forward to. As a man who went golden dragon you are literally dedicating at least 10 more hours of your life simply to slug through a game with a path the devs cucked. It is the ultimate and final cuck. Think about it logically.

You get merged spellbooks so it's good. I think Oracle is the best Angel class but crusader is supremely busted also, so it's only a matter of how busted you want to be.

Yeah, monk is fantastic just stick with pummelling style you cant go wrong. Although I think base monk is just better. You are also going to have to accept having less then 10 CHA and INT the class is very attribute demanding

I dont think you can turn CHA into ac with crane style in wotr. CHA doesn't help you at all unless you are playing a scaled fist monk that uses CHA instead of WIS

only down side to monk is that he has to be lawful, which forces you into playing AEON of ANGEL mythic path since all the mythic paths are also alignment soft locked. Make sure you pick a mythic path too before settling on monk.
Still stuff I'm used to in 3.5, that's a requirement in that too. Nice that they did Unchained monk though, a lot more playable though I'm gonna miss the 3 good saves.
They're using a updated version from table top called unchained as the base.
Basically it got bumped up to a d10 hit dice and full bab with no penalty on when flurrying, you also get a thing called style strikes that do some cool shit.

does the midnight isles second map have some cool item worth having? I've only gotten the glasses which gives my Character and archer(Arue) true seeing which helped a lot when dealing with the Vrocks and shadow mages but honestly they are a too long and a slog to complete.
Finished my blind angel>legend(sorc/2hfighter, buildfags get the rope) playthrough amd I must say, wotr has much more tolerable ending dungeons than kingmaker, to the point I might play it again sometime. Path and ending itself was pretty good, typical cheesy picrel though you can't really fuck it up unless you really suck at sorytelling. Also checked other endimgs and true aeon looks kino as fuck(especially when you leave a memory), shame you can lock yorself out of being a spacejanny so quickly

Legend is a good power fantasy and 40 levels makes for interesting shenanigans too, for example

Ray caster of any kind works with sword of heaven , converting to holy damage , haivng sun marked etc.
And you still have the angel spellbook in the backpack.
Ranged martials work with angel too. You could try a shifter druid with merged book as well

Angel immunity spells means that you are just more durable, and shifter can be pretty tanky while doing his damage.

The idea of "tanking" and absorbing damage is inherently retarded.
Armor is there to protect you IN CASE you get hit. You're not supposed to get hit. You might use the presence of your armor to your advantage in combat, but those are rare, intentional actions.

Most games, CRPGs included, shields simply serves as damage mitigation which is not how they are supposed to work.
The only way how you could somehow simulate how shields function is to give a given character a stamina bar and each shield a durability stat, and then you can bring your shield up and soak most/all damage coming your way from a given direction as long as the shield holds and you don't get too tired out.
But even that would be retarded because they would make it so that you could shield yourself for 1-2 seconds and each shield would have a durability of a wet tissue paper.

Lord of the Rings is more on the low fantasy scale imo. In DnD/Pathfinder terms, the highest level characters there are probably level 4-5ish.
I know LOTR is "High Fantasy" because of the Spiders, the Orcs, the Elves, the Dwarves, the Dark Lords etc., but the powerscaling for the world isn't that high, so using horses still makes sense

Bards are pretty redudant for WOTR (good in Kingmaker though), but Skalds are top tier buffers. Not as good as Cleric or Brown Fur Transmuter, but still really good. Mostly because they can share their rage powers with their team, meaning you can give your entire party pounce + rage's bonus to attack and damage
Skald is one of the best buffers in the game.

Nope. It simply doesn't scale with a high fantasy setting. All cavaliers should be riding Eagles or Dragons, way more evasive maneuvers, and way more mobility, also way tankier

Not only are most encounters and situations happening in arenas, closed off spaces, caverns, dungeons, narrow passages, but they often have you traveling through portals, into different (pocket) dimensions, scaling cliffs, swimming through underwater caverns and more.
Horses do have their place and usage, but having a mount with you for most of the adventures that involves aforementioned situations?

I haven't played the game with the new DLC which adds the shapeshifter viking companion, but none of the other DLCs added all that much to my enjoyment of the game thus far. I don't have particularly good hope for future DLCs.

This game is definitely good for at a few playthroughs, to test out different builds and use a different set of characters in the party and player a morally completely different character under a different mythic path. Don't be afraid to play a playthrough now and another one later down the line.
How well can bard/skald substitute the arcane/divine caster role?
they bring their own benefits and Skald is one of the best classes in the game but they're not going to be casting on the same level as a true caster

If you go Illusion or Enchantment, make sure you dip 1 level into Crossblooded Sorcerer for Serpentine + Undead bloodlines, so that your illusion spells will work on Undead and Beasts
well if you're going blaster you want a Crossblooded dip for Arcane+Dragon or Dragon+Dragon anyway
on anything above Core because a dipless caster is perfectly fine on Core and below

Conjuration doesn't need any dips. But it also doesn't have any good high level spells so...I wouldn't recommend using it as your primary school of magic. It's only good early game for grease and glitterdust spam
