no, that's normal because this stuff doesn't have tight tolerances
plug it all the way you can using your wrist and it'll be fine
but you can try forcing it in for the peace of mind, you won't damage it that way
shittiest 20 awg cables can handle 9A, you can do the math yourself
if we're being honest you could remove half the pins from the connector that goes from your PSU to the motherboard and still have a large safety margin
3090 ti used the same cable just without the sense terminals or whatever that shit was that determined if the psu will give the card 450W or 600W
it was slow news week after 4090 dropped and people were excited because the card was insanely fast so their atrophied gamer muscles combined with excitement and impatience caused them to not plug it all the way in and journos capitalized on it to get obscene amount of clicks blowing it way out of proportion
these shitty plugs take a lot of force to plug in all the way, and they're really awkwardly placed.
The other issue is that if one of the pins doesn't go straight into its hole it can be pushed out the back of the plug and you might not notice until your card catches fire.
>user error with incidence rate of like < 0.5% >nvidia immediately refunds any card that melts and bullied AiBs into doing the same
a nothingburger if I've seen one
it's funny how many panicked redditors bought cablemod just to be reminded why they're shit in the first place and you should not buy cables from them
there are many chink companies that make much higher quality cables than cablemod and they're cheaper
I won't name them because I'm not a shill
I can't even remember what I bought. >checking my Amazon order history before I click post
This junk. It works pretty good so far: https://a.co/d/fSikPp5
I ordered mine from a chink I know is quality and got it in a few days shipped from China while tards on /r/nvidia were waiting for 2 weeks for cablemod to process their order let alone ship it
I still can't believe all Snoy did was put a shitty foam around it. When I used to put LM on the GPU and delidded CPUs back in the 7700K days I always insulated the area around the die with a special heat resistant insulating tape so that nothing would short in the unlikely scenario of the LM spilling
>people are still too retarded to properly insert the connector, despite every media outlet reporting about it
why do zoomers always blame their faults on others?
Ganker couldn't screw in a lightbulb properly let alone build a PC. Besides if you don't know how to at least do a cap replacement you don't even deserve to own a pc or anything electronic. You might as well set your money on fire buying shit over and over again
>be me >pc master race >never have problems ever >see people having a bunch of problems with their pc >turns out they were just retarded
many such cases
it's just you. for the most part PC hardware has gotten almost idiot proof. High current cables in pokey little spaces with shitty plugs are just asking for trouble, that's all.
I don't see how this relevant to my completely different gpu
>dumb fucks buying LED gamer cables can't plug them in properly
Not my problem.
Not my problem

He didn't plug it in properly.
how do you not plug in something properly, if it's wrong it wouldn't go in, right?
They're not plugging it in all the way, and bending it before 35cm out. Those are the primary causes of fire.
not GPU but my ATX cable refuses to go further in than like 1-2mm from all the way, am I fucked?
If the locking mechanism is engaged you're probably fine, the newer motherboards seem a bit tight.

more concerned about damaging the mobo tbh

If you don't push it until it clicks you can have a weaker electrical connection which means higher resistance so more heat = melting
The 40 series cards are apparently a bit more difficult to seat properly.

35mm even.

Works fine here. Even bought a Brand X right angle cable that works great. Been running this machine powered on since early March.
I replaced the adapter with a native cable but only because it's so fucking ugly.

just don't buy from cablemods and plug in the cable correctly what's so hard about that

Mine came from a local Amazon warehouse with a bunch of other crap I ordered next day.
>redditors buy retard cables
It's the reason Lian Li slowed down and delays cases now. They make more money off LED cables than cases.
>buy lian li case
>intake fans fail due to bad bearings
t-thanks
>using the fans that come with the case of any brand
you dummy.
mine melted
Maybe buy a 4080 or a 30xx series gpu then?
Remember that when LIQUID(tm) METAL(tm) COOLING (tm) thermal paste leaks and shorts your shitstation.

It was probably a last minute addition because the PS5 was specced so far behind the xbox.

Don't buy a 900w gpu?

Has anyone else notice that hardware has become more brittle in the last 10 years? Is it just me?
It's not just you, they're using less materials. The motherboard I have is so flimsy
it's just you. for the most part PC hardware has gotten almost idiot proof. High current cables in pokey little spaces with shitty plugs are just asking for trouble, that's all.
My (third) 7900xtx works great.
Asrock, never again
I have the Corsair 600w cable plugged into my 4090. Never had a problem. The bundled nvidia cable looks like shit anyway
