That's cause now devs can patch and update the game overtime. It's a double edged sword cause even though shit games can improve overtime from updates, it feels like so many companies have the strategy of releasing a Early Access game and just finish it later down the line.

It does provide more content the problem is that it doesnt improve much of anything and the new content isnt anything special. The game is definately bigger and longer compared to base DD1 with way more stuff to do, there is way more quests in DD2 that arent to do with the main plot and way more places to explore. It is a far longer game than base DD1. The new stuff is a good addition the problem is that none of it is particularly special

        Anonymous

Not him, but you're completely full of shit if you're pretending it was comparable in 1 vs 2. In 1 there was a small handful of dark skinned characters, the most notable was Mason who was explicitly a foreign agent of the church. The black pawn you summon is just tanned or dark skinned. Asalam (the inn owner) is Arab looking. 2 was full of actual Black knights. Brandt the knight captain was black. Sigurd the dragonslayer was African looking, and the "middle eastern" sellsword who was the last fight you did before the ending segment was also African. Bakbattahl which was clearly middle eastern inspired had a black shopkeep. 1 was full of various Mediterranean looking characters like the Cassardis village chief and it contributed to making the world feel bigger by having characters that felt like they were from different regions whereas 2 had regular white people and then African looking black knight and warriors everywhere with no rhyme or reason.

          >2 had regular white people and then African looking black knight and warriors everywhere with no rhyme or reason
There are actually two very good reasons for why there's a bunch of black people around Vermund. One is that Battahl, an african-esque desert nation, is literally right next door, and while travel between the two nations is somewhat controlled, they're clearly not shut off from one another. You can see wagons crossing the border all the fricking time, and that's just the official border town.
Second is that Vermund wasn't some kind of medieval european kingdom to begin with. It used to be a beastren kingdom, that was then conquered and taken over by a bunch of immigrants from all over the place. So having a less homogenous populace makes perfect sense, considering the current stock aren't the natives, and haven't even been there for all that long, historically speaking.
As for the often posted image of the blacks in stained glass, that's because the rulers of Vermund aren't from one unbroken line, they morons just crown whoever's the current Arisen as their Sovran. So having a bunch of random homosexuals in all shaders in their line of kings and rulers makes sense as well.

We can argue about why DD2 has more blacks than DD1 did all day long, but the whole "they're shoved in for no reason" argument doesn't hold any water. Given where the world takes place, and what the world's history looks like, their presence makes sense.

            >One is that Battahl, an african-esque desert nation

Yes it does. You lying and being objectively wrong about which part of our world Battahl looks like doesn't change that.

              >You lying and being objectively wrong about which part of our world Battahl looks like doesn't change that
Much like the rest of the setting, and DD1 for that matter, each nation is a condensed mix of several cultures. Gransys was medieval European, except it also had a distinctly Mediterranean village. Does it really tax your imagination too much to consider that maybe Battahl is also a condensed stand-in chimera of several desert nations and cultures? Not everything is a 1:1 analogue of a real place. It's pretty clear what they were going for with Battahl, and it has a pretty mixed population of blacks, middle easterners, and cat people, so other than your unimaginative autism, what about it doesn't explain black people existing?

                >each nation is a condensed mix of several cultures
Your entire premise is bullshit and I'm not going to agree with it on any level to let you pretend you've made a point. Gransys in 1 is Mediterranean in general, Vermund is more northern and western European, and Battahl is further into the Middle East. There's no Africa in there at all.
                >Does it really tax your imagination too much to consider that maybe Battahl is also a condensed stand-in chimera of several desert nations and cultures?
If you're too fricking ignorant to understand what different nations and cultures look like, then don't comment on it to defend a shitty setting in a game. It's clear DD2 is just full of African blacks and not a mishmash of races and cultures like DD1.

It is unless they're moronic. She's not african looking at all. she's not particularly darker than the other med or middle eastern looking characters, and most of all she's an obvious homage to Casca, who everyone know is tanned and not black. Calling Mercedes black was literally a shitpost joke in the pre-release threads because it was such an absurd and stupid thing to say.

its not worth arguing any more since the map seems to have been completely changed from 1 to 2. The real reason there are black people everywhere is because of inclusion, its not for reasons in game, it has nothing to do with geography or neighbouring nations etc anymore. There is no world map of DD because it seems they are going to change the world with each game.

The other moron seems to think that Battahl is African in design (it isn't) so that justifies the game being full of blacks all over the world, but somehow the lack of other races mixed in doesn't matter even though it's also supposed to be middle eastern.

the thread OP probably took this image from is quite the read. the dogma sub is basically a fanboy safespace and even they're now straight up shitting on the game. The main complaints revolve around it being so bare bones with lack of content for $70, especially the awful enemy variety.

All of this was evident from day 1 (which is why sales plummeted like a rock as word spread, taking 6 weeks just to get from 2.6 mil to 3 mil), but it's just taken the ardent fanbase time to come to terms with objective reality. So much potential not lived up to yet again because of capcom releasing the game clearly unfinished.

That's always the cherry on top. Starfield was the same way. Both games looked more and more disappointing as they got closer to release and then they do and it's just a CPU intensive/poor utilization nightmare. So you can't even turn down graphics or use upscalers, game just runs like shit on hardware that should run it fine. Because a handful of NPCs on the screen with AI more basic than the hundreds of zombies on the screen in Dead Rising for Xbox 360 just tanks your performance.

removing denuvo won't do shit for performance.

Lots of stuff in the game don't have LOD versions so they're all being loaded in and rendered at max half way across the map, needlessly. On top of that the game is doing the same for the AI, it's all active miles away out of view. You might think "well that helps simulate a living world, right?", but in reality the AI doesn't do anything interesting worth calculating. It's more basic than 10+ year old TES AI, in TES creature sandbox AI can be set to seek food, water, shelter etc - there's none of this here. Other than griffins none of the enemy AI roam, they just spawn in the same spot and stand around doing nothing unless there's another creature very close by that they're allowed to fight with. So we end up with this AI calculation overhead for far-off enemies/npcs when there's really no need for it be running, as the game doesn't have anything interesting that can happen in the first place.

something I noticed during the constant shitposting about dd2 on Ganker
no one was ironically or unironically talking about the characters or story
especially not to the degree of dd1
so I concluded that they are nonexistent or so bland they may as well be in dd2

There just aren't that many characters to begin with, and none with the writing to stand out even with just the few scenes they're given. Characters like Mercedes, Julian, or even Grigori didn't even have all that much actual screentime or dialogue, but they just absolutely nailed the passionate delivery and writing in the scenes they did have, so they were memorable. Meanwhile, I don't think anyone in the entire game delivers a line with even half the gusto of the upjumped zealot before getting stomped. They mostly deliver pretty lukewarm dialogue in an appropriately lukewarm dialogue, and that's kind of it. The only character whose voice acting and lines stuck out to me was the fricking sphinx.

I legit think most of the dialogue is AI generated. There’s no way a human could write something so bland

      >less than 1 euro for an hour spent playing
I enjoyed it. The main story was either rushed or badly directed, overleveling makes the game too easy, and after seeing everything in the world there's not much to keep playing for. I went from many hours of play time every day to 0 at the drop of a hat. A shame, really, but it's still a 10/10 for me.

They weren't memetic enough to talk about, and too numerous. Instead of Caxton being your #1 shopkeeper for armor and weapons, in DD2 you have several, separately between armor and weapons. The characters simply drown in the sea of characters, and they're too realistic to spew something memetic like "They're masterworks all, you cant go wrong!" every time. the game isnt jank enough.

Because in all the time they had they just tried really hard to make DD1 again, and for everything they did right they fricked it up somewhere else in doing so.

Im holding my judgement till the expansion, I know for sure there will be a DD3 and after 2 I just dont care, if the expansion is bad Ill comfortably write DD1 off as a fluke, if the expansion is good and on par with BBI then I will treat DD with skepticism going forward. Its not even a bad game, its just resoundingly mediocre, where it trips on the same problems DD1 had and didnt even try to fix them. How the frick have they not realized that adding difficulties is necessary to a game like this for replayability.
    >level cap is 999
    >game is piss easy at level 40
What the frick are they doing. This on top of no reason to do NG+ is just baffling, they tried to stick to how DD1 was but saw the flaws as positives and the positives as fat to be trimmed.

It is a 7/10 game, it shouldve been better, I hope the expansion takes that to a 9 or 10 or I just dont care about DD going forward. DD1 was probably an accident.

Yes, the problem here is that they shouldve learned from DD1 and didnt. They lifted all the problems base game DD1 had and added new problems on top of it rather than seeing what could be improved and impoving it.

I like that each class is actually distinct now with their own weapon and dont share skills, but there really shouldve been more.
          >quest to unlock warrior and sorcerer
          >these are the only 2 fricking quests to unlock classes, the rest are hybrids from meisters
Like when they showed that in the pre release stuff I was under the impression there was going to be lots of classes to take quests for to unlock, but there was only 2, why even have the fricking quests for them, they werent even new classes. Something people pointed out even in the early footage, there is a tab for shields, and only one class can use shields, but it has a dedicated tab rather than just putting shields under weapons...this shit implied there was going to be other classes besides fighter that could equip shields, or that there was other offhand shit.

In DD1 it didnt make sense, and they didnt need to stick to that with DD2, and they didnt, which allows them to add whatever classes they want rather than "advanced" versions of base classes, but then they just didnt add any more, its lame. I doubt the expansion will add any classes but they could just make classes around any weapons they want now, which is sad because they wont
          >spear and shield
          >whip
          >scythe
          >fists
They could just go through fantasy archetypes and make classes of them, but they wont. Its so dissapointing.

        >salaryman mtx drama
There's a serious problem all over the gaming industry where the marketing team and dev team basically don't understand and even "hate" each other, so they constantly pull tone-deaf shit like this that ultimately sabotages the public reception of the game. It's the corporate paradox.

but honestly the game is too stretched out. it takes ages to get to another city and the GOBLINS! moments are too many. Wish there was a way to get around faster other than the stupid way the quests work. the quests would be fine if there were more to do in the frickhueg landscape.

above the performance, within a few days of release it became very clear that the game was extremely barely bones content wise and simply not worth $70. The reality is bigger RPGs have set the bar for what people now expect from a *$60* game, and DD2 cost more while giving objectively far less content in return. It's not surprising that the sale dropped off so hard, even by SP game standards.

I disagree, it's not barebones nor even extremely so, that's your negative bias speaking, the culprit here is performance and MTX shitstorm

DD's gameplay formula BEGS for a full-fledged party based arpg adventure with premade characters who develop bonds and learn to work like a team as the game progresses. But no other dev will attempt to do anything like it. Indie devs simply won't have resources for something like this.
