Minecraft 2 should use spheres instead of blocks.
Vinrage Story uses voxels which is even more autistic
>Vinrage Story uses voxels which is even more autistic
What do you think Minecraft uses.
Minecraft uses voxels for the world gen but not for the actual blocks.
Interesting, I didn't know that.
Shut up
Chill dude, jeez
Let's have sex and make babies.
the duality of man
Eat shit butthole
ignore me, i dont know what im talking about at all
How similar is it to terrafirmacraft?
it's literally terrafirmacraft but as its own game
Nice, I think I will buy it then.
Seems kind of disappointing that steel in vintage story is the top tier of materials and easy to make, whereas red and blue steel alloys in terrafirmacraft are extremely complex and motivate trade/teamwork to mass produce.
You can see plants that are sprites right therein the screenshot
Anon, almost all game uses voxel. That shit especially is necessary to store procedurally generated world data
It gets way less interesting once you realize that everything in this pic probably took an actual week of irl playtime to build.
is the progression better than minecraft? one thing I hate about MC is how there is no direction and somethings have just no use.
It's much slower than Minecraft and nearly impossible to play in single player because of the difficulty.
it's insanely grindy, multiplayer is nearly a requirement for playing vs
Just wait for Hytale.
>last blogpost was Summer 2022
>previous post was Winter 2021
it's dead, anon
>not open source
dropped
is there a way to do creative worlds without flat terrain?
You can increase the elevation to a game-breaking amount, but the game will lag pretty hard.
Very grindy.
>very grindy
Into the trash it goes.
alright, i figured it out. i was having a brainlet moment. i had to make a regular world and then use a command ingame to turn on creative mode. i was trying to generate a creative building world, but it always came out entirely flat, which i didnt want.
>Very grindy
Mildly untrue. Most of the time you wasted looking for the things rather than doing the work
Yeah good luck with making any full metal armor set and not killing yourself in the process.
Yep.
Max height build limit is ~1500 blocks for a normal world and ~2000 for superflat.
Fun game for creative builders and modders (you can create mobs, items and blocks without coding, just with .json filed and the game’s modeling/animating program), but so much for vanilla survival players, as the main game is pretty bare.
*not so much
How grindy is vintage story?
You will an hero before you get to steel unless you get some people to help you.
or some mods
I like the leveling up one.
Reduces grind and makes grindy tasks faster the more you do them and allows for some variety.
>minecraft but with more tedium
who cares
>modded minecraft without having to mod it
sign me up
Minecraft is chill and relaxing, vintage is a massive autistic grind. They're not comparable.
VS also has much less content in terms of biomes, mobs etc, although I think it has more blocks.
Combat is also a bit better than MC, with actually timed attack that can be dodged.
But as I said above the interest is limited if you don’t want to spend some serious time making your own mods to add more shit, as for now the amount of mods and vanilla content is abysmal.
The problem is, from my understanding watching others play;
>Minecraft = casual comfy fun
>Vintage Story = extreme hardcore difficulty and grinding
it's fun with friends
World war 1 is fun with friends you fricking dipshit. That's the whole point of having friends in that it makes mundane or intolerable tasks either bearable or enjoyable.
you don't have any friends
neither do you
>World war 1 is fun with friends you fricking dipshit
kek
>casual comfy fun
>extreme hardcore difficulty and grinding
>implying minecraft isn't full of the same shit for no real good reason other than lol wacky game logic
moron
keep asking for Minecraft 2
Literally no one does this
>still no steam release because the devs are frugal fricks
Into the trash
>noooooooooooo your game has to pay 30% goytax to Gabe in order for me to enjoy it
do steamies really?
>not wanting the exposure from a major store
>just stick to an unknown literal who website instead
It's like you Austrian Black folk hate making money
why do you care and get so piss baby mad that he isnt making money
its almost as if theres a hidden reason...
Based tbh, would like it on steam but I respect devs who use their own site.
i wanted to wait until 1.17 was out since that update supposedly came with performance improvements, but i didn't. but i'm gonna play it. one day.
here's what i dont like about it
>all biomes looks too similar
>colours too muted
>"realistic" biome distribution means you exploration is boring because unless you go straight north or south you'll never see snow and shit
>mining is a chore because exploration is a chore due to above reasons
>temporal stability makes it so that some biomes aren't fit for base building because it keeps going down
>you'll never see snow
Vintage Story has realistic seasons
not paying 20 bucks to a sperg who copy pasted the entire design of his game
sorry! maybe put it on steam with a 70% discount or smth
why does it run like fricking ass
i have an 6600xt and it cant even hit 60fps@1080p
Probably CPU-bounded and running too much code (like conditionals) per tick then.
>AMD
found ur problem
NTA but
>game can't run on a 6600xt, a card that can easily run every AAA game
So when someone said it's better optimized than minecraft it was a blatant lie? Got it. Back to minecraft.
Do you not know what CPU-bound means?
>AMD GPU
not my problem
Both posts and your post right now are clearly saying the GPU is the issue, if you're lying to drive people away from your game then try not shilling it in the first place. Nvidia gpu here btw. Bye.
How about you check the responses to the original post you absolute mongoloid?
AMD GPU is always an issue even if it isn't btw.
Name your CPU
>6600xt
lol
Hytale is still being worked on, but Riot won't let them say too much about it now.
What am I in for?
autistic tedium, but the fun kind.
autistic tedium, but the unfun kind
Autistic tedium, you might find it fun
autistic tedium, but you won't find it fun
Comfy survival game, I recommend playing without a map.
It's really fun to make your own landmarks for navigation.
Hopefully the devs eventually put in the ability to be able to travel just by looking at the stars alone.
That's be fricking great.
what are those weird looking symbols in your path?
it's yen, he's installing money
cool
It means he's a coomer that plays shitty japanese fetish games.
t. coomer that plays shitty japanese fetish games
>got really into making food in this game for some reason, especially pies and cheese
>had a cellar just full of cheese shelves and storage vessels full of sliced pie
>villagers never ever and multiplayer is dead, so no one to appreciate it
it's lonely. just me, myself, and my red meat pie (charred)
multiplayer is trash, your food will spoil while you're offline
With the amount of cheese and pie I make, the only concern is storage. I can just log on and make more, I enjoy the process
I never went past making basic stews with vegetables and meat because there was no reason to. I had an entire basement filled with shelves and stew crocks preserved with animal fat that makes it last forever. Food is never really an issue once you settle down.
I asked the devs if we'll ever see NPC villagers and got laughed at.
Maybe someday we'll get a Vintage Comes Alive mod.
well is it good?
I had a crew of 7 friends playing it all at once and it was probably the most fun any of us had in years. Everyone had 150+ hours of play time by the end of the month. Single player is less fun if only because you're clearly doing the job of multiple people, but with good time management it's less of a pain.
Next update there's going to be things to mitigate temporal instability in areas so you can build wherever you want as well as dungeons, and a total revamp of the map generation so it doesn't break when the world height is increased.
It's all about brand name recognition in the end. Pokémon is a worthless piece of shit, but it just keeps selling and selling...
If the game is constantly updated it might have a chance in the long run however
Why can't none of them hire an actual artist for once.
its unreal how this game manages to look better while being more optimized than minecraft at the same time.
My machine can barely run Minecraft sometimes but it runs VS no problem.
Because minecraft runs on Java. No amount of optifine can possibly make it run smooth.
>minecraft 2
>it's just minecraft with a texture pack
wonder why it didn't take off
It's not like minecraft at all.
>install one mod
>iT's NoT LiKe MiNeCrAfT aT aLl
You've never played this game.
Stop being a redditor.
Stop shilling your piece of shit game
I don't care if people play it or not, I'm only responding to you because you're fricking cringe.
>cringe
Stop being a redditor.
Right after you ma'am.
lol
you actually took the effort to do the caps and lowercase shit
Tried playing once with a friend and put a good number of hours on it but it got boring because everything would take ages to do. Cooking was fun tho
permadeath or no balls
>non-free software
not falling for that again
Like the developers of Minetest, the creators want to have their "secret and niche group" and they will never release the game on a platform where people buy it and can leave a review like Steam, or at least GOG.
I will not buy your shit on your poorly designed website
As it should be.
based as frick.
Gonna buy it now
As expected, Vintage story /vm/ server is full of autistic morons.
Mental illness
SOVL
I've kinda expected people to draw porn of this game but not that much... is there a booru?
Where do you think you are?
No expert modpacks no buy
Minecraft 2 should have realistic physics simulations and more im-sim elements like BoTW. I'm not accepting replies.
Game is fun but the "progression" feels like it has some gaps in it. Some activities (namely hammering metal and grinding grain/stones) seem intentionally extremely tedious to push the player towards automation but the first available source of that is a windmill, which requires huge resource investment. There needs to be smaller steps or the automation-fodder needs to not be so goddamn tedious. Also the world gen sucks.
There absolutely needs to be a waterwheel option and an animal powered one. The Medieval Expansion mod has been pretty good for adding missing stuff like the water wheel
the game doesn't even have boats
never ever
Yeah, updates are fricking glacial and fricking Tyrone keeps adding meaningless bloat instead of the major features everyone wants. We're getting bookcases and books finally this upcoming update but then he wants to add more enemies when combat is shit and redo worldgen when there's still no oceans and rivers
>redo worldgen
please no
Our only hope is the wiener suckers in the discord convince him it's a moronic idea but it's a long shot
This shit with devs interacting with people on their discord needs to end.
All parasocial relationships are insane.
It's called Valheim
the sanity mechanic sucks and i always turn it off but other than that it's pretty good. needs more to do though
>boohoo game is too hard
god I hate minetrannies
Why did he go and make the player characters the ugliest fricking thing possible though
I'm waiting for the next update.
You know I truly detest the mining system in this game. It's a survival game and they go hard on the immersion crap but then you use a magical tool that prints numbers in your chat box to tell you if there might or might not be ore in the vicinity. I don't understand it, why did they make it this way?
I appreciate that they try to make realistic mineral veins but for fricks sake, the game world is so fricking massive by default you can honestly run an hour from your base until you find a place to mine at. I have played on 6 worlds and never found naturally occurring salt.
Often I stall at bronze tools.
I really wish they'd go back and do something about this. In minecraft and other similar games you can just go knock out strip mining mountains or spend an hour making excavation tunnels. In VT you can make a couple of copper tools, go break them in a location with a 1.6% density cluster (amazing chance of finding your ore) and then you have to go grab a fricking bucket and SIFT SAND or frick off to a gravel pit and pick up copper nuggets to make replacements. While you're doing this, you're not filling crocks with preserved food or hunting animals while still eating the stuff you're supposed to preserve for winter.
The mineral veins aren't even very realistic, they're all flat discs instead of actual veins
having so much of the "late game" gated by ore distribution that may as well be total RNG is fricking moronic. I'm not going to pull out a geology textbook to find out what part of the fricked up worldgen has a <5% chance of spawning the ores I need to advance. Adding in how small some of those veins are is just an insult, there should be huge veins that justify an actual mine if the dev is dedicated to the route he's on but even then the act of mining is probably the least interesting thing you can do, something Minecraft suffers from as well.
It would be easily solved if you upped ore generation in caves, like minecraft does. As it stands there's no reason to go caving.
you go anywhere near a cave and you fricking die from the monsters
Reason to go caving is to find teleporters
>paying to simulate the tedium of real life in a video game instead of just going out and doing it yourself in real life
why do people develop these games and why do people buy them?
But doing it myself means I have to get up, learn something and get tired and dirty doing it. Frick that shit.
I'd rather play vidya.
But resting and cleaning yourself are just additional tedious... I mean fun mechanics that you have to engage with, it adds to the realism you see.
>tedious minigame for simple task like crafting tools
LMAO
>pickaxes break really fast
>shitters in caves frick you up, so you can't search for ore there
>literally who thought that wasting autistic amount of time running around probing ground to find a good ore node is a good idea
I don't mind wasting time smelting shit but finding ore is ridiculously time hungry
Also after getting steel there is nothing to do
I liked the mechanics to make charcoal, stews, etc but I wish there were more things to do
The savior for this game just like Minecraft will be the modding scene. Sadly being less popular also means there's fewer mods.
>german
Thank god it failed.
i play minetest
but true enough i should play this one too
all I FRICKING want is minecraft but entirely underground with impressive and varied cavegen and more shit to mine and find. overworld can be a nuked husk for all I care. why has no mod done this?
isn't there a modpack that lets you play in a nuclear wasteland?
play dwarf fortress
arx fatalis minecraft would be pretty damn sweet I agree
Guys, what's the state of Minetest in 2023?
I tried it out a few days ago and Mineclone is a bit underwhelming
Do I have to use lua to use their engine? I want their nice API but I don't want to bother learning lua
I think it's LUA only yeah
anon if mineclone is underwhelming then...
I mean underwhelming in context of it trying to copy minecraft
i dont get it. it does the thing. I suppose i understand that it is various versions behind but i really just see that as a minecraft problem
The game is underdeveloped.
>no fishing in vanilla
>no mounts
>terrible combat
>still no way to fix temporal issues in an area
it's pretty good but too slow for adhd reta- for non patient people. i agree with the search pick being annoying but the idea is that once you find a vein, you are set for a long time. you can also set metals rate to 300%.
I hate the combat and I will always play without enemies and the temporal bullshit until it's better
>but the idea is that once you find a vein, you are set for a long time. you can also set metals rate to 300%.
Bullshit. The ore discs don't generate nearly enough for that to be true.
for iron it is. zinc maybe not but I think that's the point, it's supposed to be realistic. honestly just rush to iron so you can avoid the bronze age
I get that it's supposed to be realistic but it's very tedious given how limited overworld transportation is.
The world is huge and yet there's no fricking mounts or wagons. If there were I'd b***h less about having to go on extended trips to find shit.
my only concern is if I have to pay money for it because I'd feel terrible paying money to an autist.
nvm checked and I ain't paying $21 for shit I can get for free.
