Only thing I will say ME does better is that you talk to Saren earlier in Virmire and he's had time to think about what you said there, so it makes more sense you would be able to appeal to his better nature as a paragon or his likemindedness as a renegade. Having the option to talk down Lanius is still great though since it requires so many checks. It makes you feel like the skills you picked were worth it.

The mass effect trilogy were all small short games compared to todays games. You can complete the trilogy in like 40 hours i you really just want to rush through it. Fallout 4 had twice as many voice lines as the three Mass Effect combined. They are really short games. The time it takes to complete everything in Fallout 4 you could play the entire trilogy. The time it takes to do everything in Skyrim, you could beat all Dragon Age games.
Also back the developers were concerned with creating good content, now it’s more about creating enough content to garner interest for more people because an out of touch executive thinks that will bring more sales. That’s why they smacked on shitty planet exploration on Andromeda. Why Bethesda has shitty settlement building. This causes development cost to skyrocket because they essentially have to create multiple systems on one game. It’s why Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring are the best games to come out. They just do a couple things really well and they leave out any thing unnecessary. The world would be better if game development went back to gaming studio having smaller studios working on more niche games that cater to a specific group of people versus trying to create a game that satisfies everyone.

He has nothing to lose by going back home. Getting tricked by a 100 speech/barter living legend into not fully committing his forces is actually reasonable.

Because you can't just snap a finger and disengage an army, and the second he leaves his encampment he can be dogged by the nearby enemy with low morale, no security, and far from home.
There wasn't even a formal agreement with the enemy that this wouldn't happen. You are just some guy.
That isn't even accounting for the fact that his clout as a war leader would be destroyed from such a retreat during a time when there will certainly be a legitimacy crisis in the Legion leadership.
The speech check could have been salvaged if it took place in a pre-battle negotiation table where every faction still alive gets to walk away with something. It would still take some reworks to make that sensible.

To get to the camp you have to fight off the legion assault on the dam with the allies that you gather while doing the NCR quest line. Play the game and stop trying to bullshit.

In Mass Effect your character needs to have experience winning debates to accomplish that, in Vegas you can go through the entire game never using Speech checks but leveling it up anyway and so long as you meet the 100 mark you're good to go.
Are you purposely leaving out the persuasion skill or did you not play the game, also that’s not how that works in NV. You can pick the wrong options with Lanius and it leads to a fight even with max speech.
Persuasion doesn't exist in New Vegas, your mods are not canon you know. And you still never need to use Speech a single time prior to the Lanius debate, regardless of whether you choose the right or wrong responses.
