top right. your skill develops and the game becomes easier, much like your character.

right top in the ideal world but this literally never happens, so
    middle top
it should be a little hard to learn mechanics and systems but past a certain point you need to feel rewarded for your job and the reward is being able to melt everything on your path aside from few rare instances (bosses, very high level/elite enemies etc)

this graph means nothing because difficulty isnt clearly defined does the game actually get harder or does the player merely get better at a game that doesnt change

  13. 4 weeks ago
    Anonymous

It should be a horseshoe shaped curve. Harder in the early game and post-game, but somewhat easier during the middle chunk of the game

      >pick only one
      mine isn't listed

      difficult beginnings
easy midgame for the power trip
      difficult endgame

This but add a moronic frick-you difficulty spike right before the game gets reasonably hard again

Its not the difficulty for me but how involved the controls are. Each input should mean something and require thought.

anything that isn't these two is the reason why gaming is going to shit, and you're all casual trash if you think otherwise.

Soulsgames ruined an entire generation of gamers

        Anonymous

these are souls games, the "difficulty" in those games is just figuring out how things work then they're piss easy. It's why the first one you play will cause you the most trouble, once you figure out there are iframes and how weapon scaling works they're all the same easy trash.

Souls games aren't even hard though, so it doesn't apply. Something like Boshy or Wings of Vi on Demon Mode are more accurate

Top left or middle. I actually really like when games have a relatively static difficulty that becomes less impactful the better you get or the more abilities you obtain so by the end it's pure gas with you wrecking everything including the final boss. Or if you really suck then the entire game seems hard it works both ways

My favorite games are like stairs. Hitting difficulty spikes that set the standard going forward until the next difficulty spike overwrites that and does it again, unlike something like this which is just a clean boring gradual slope or something like this

        Objectively, this is correct

which is interrupted by occasional dips. The increased the difficulty had to be sudden and jarring, and stick to that level until the next difficulty spike increases it further.

this is tedious jrpg shit. no.

Most JRPGs start off hard, then get gradually easier as you unlock new attacks and gear, and then crank up the difficultly in the last hour of the game
