It seems like a game that is really fun if you replay the levels several times, but I just don't feel like doing that to get to the good part of the game.
Unfortunately, the replaying levels part also isn't that great.
The first run is easy as shit and mindless.
The repeat runs of levels are difficult, but not really in a fun way. You're not reacting to stuff as your speeding along, you're memorizing levels piece by piece. So still mindless, just difficult.
I got sick of it pretty quick. The game encourages you to go fast, but you also have to scour every nook and cranny for collectables if you want max rank. This conflict makes the game feel clunky if you don't know where all the collectables are. Even if you're looking up where each collectable is, you still have to try each level ad nauseam to get a good run. From what I've collected, they're not so intuitively found, either. It reminded me of why I hate the New Super Mario Bros. games. I also didn't like how it felt to move Peppino around. I liked how it looked and sounded, though.
It is hard getting over that hurdle. It’s Wario land routes make you think you should explore but the opposite is true, most cages are obvious and most secrets are marked.
I will say they added options to map super jump and slam to the controls rather than d pad which makes playing far better
Furthermore, I think it's bad game design that each level has an intuitive path that misses collectibles. If it's essential for the player to collect them to 100%, why annoy them by having to go back? It feels like I'm going against the grain each time I'm navigating a level. If 100%ing meant no collectables and going fast, I would have loved it.
It's a great game if you like routing speed runs. It's an okay game if you like collectathons. It's a shitty game if you just like 100%ing platformers.
>People talking about the level design being bad
I can't say I share that feeling. Once you get a few P-ranks, the game starts to "click" and for me personally I started getting "A but would have been S ranks if the second lap portal was opened" ranks. The game throws a lot of variety of mechanics and weird level designs at you, but once you get a feeling how it all works it starts make sense and you can build up insane speed. RRR is still the worst P-rank in the game though.
Also, is Ganker at the point where anons pretend it was never good?
I just P ranked the refrigerator level, then discovered the sound test for the first time. Holy shit this game's second half is brutal to perfect but I'm gonna fucking do it.
I beat the game back when it came out and S ranked everything like a month later. It's just the P ranks that need me to REALLY be in the mood to do them. I'm going to get that eggplant costume, mark my words.
I got P rank everything in a few dozen hours so it's definitely a grind, but I love the gameplay so the satisfaction of the end screen easily outweighed my frustration. I don't blame anyone for not going for them right away or at all but getting P-Rank is that real PIZZA GAMER shit
101%'d it and got all the suits, I'm halfway through the Lap 3 mod now. Great game, my personal GOTY.
Would love to see more playable characters, the Heat Meter returning and scrapped levels getting added.
I'm frankly astonished how well it turned out. I figured it would turn out to be meh at best because the pre-release builds did not give the greatest of impressions.
The 2021 builds were so bad he literally ran away from them as fast as he could to make it more like the demo, dude really put his heart sweat and tears into it and I'm glad he did
Almost have the start of the firemouth transformation done. I would have waited until it was fully done, but I can't tell when these threads even happen anymore
My GOTY, it's a great example of an indie game that takes inspiration from older games but doesn't make that its entire identity and does its own thing too
You can just go fast: the only requirement to advance through game is to get enough money to fight the bosses on each level, which isn't too hard to do. 100% the game is only if you really want to. Same with P-ranking
Fun little game, desing is cool and music slaps, but I feel a huge part of the game is just grinding levels until you p rank. Its the type of game you either enjoy for a couple of hours or fall into the autistic completionist rabbit hole.
Also a some of the fancontent is surprisingly good like Sugar Spire minus the gay shit
i don't play games made by leafs
anon, most devs & chivarious customers are from USA
this is the most damning thing ive heard about the dev
i think we should genocide everything south of Perugia

that's like 99% of games: you memorize patterns and act accordingly
dumbass
Not the good ones
game of the year
My favorite game released this year.
Your enjoyment will hinge entirely on how much you like chasing after good ranks though.

The cages aren’t really an issue, you can steamroll your way to the ending fairly easily.
More like shill tower
It's bretty good
A terrible indie game with a terrible indie fanbase, most of whom are trannies and pedos.
Not as good as Wario Land 4 but pretty good

Never tried it. Don't like pixel platformers plus have an irrational hatred for any FOTM thing that normalfags hype up.
>Don't like pixel platformers
I genuinely don't trust anyone that dislike's 2D platformers.
Flavor of the month.

How many times do you have to ask?

it was at that point right when the game released
If you do the tutorial fast enough you unlock all lap 2s right away

who is this negress?
Olivia. Been making animations for her since early April, I think. Back when her design was made in these threads when the game was in its prime
Mastering the stages for Pranks was a ton of fun. One of the only games in steam I've bothered getting all of the acheivements.
I liked it.

meme game and lot marketing efforts, there are good chances you are just a shill.
GOTY
Pikmin 4 is close but suffers from lack of difficulty in the main game
It was nice but then it become popular, so we call it chud game now because the speedrun angle of the game.
>The Dev has openly admitted to wanting the "Undertale fandom effect".
Then why not just add furry shit to get that?
he wanted italiophiles instead
Damn, I don't wanna think Rule 34 will make gay porn with this game. I hope there's no women in upcoming sequels/DLC's. It could be worse.
did you Pizza chuds get contained to /vg/?
for a couple months, yeah. then the general unfortunately ran out of steam on the 20th thread
For a while, then they ran out, now we're back here with you.
It's the GOTY
I think they should make a TV series. It could be fun, considering the main character's personality and the rest of characters. Just like Cuphead.
it's good
do i need to try to collect everything or can i just treat it like a mario 3 or super mario world speedrun and just go fast?
you need like 90% of the toppings to beat the game
You can just go fast: the only requirement to advance through game is to get enough money to fight the bosses on each level, which isn't too hard to do. 100% the game is only if you really want to. Same with P-ranking
give me one reason to play this over Wario Land
It's more Wario Land in a way.
It's got pizza
fast
Characters too small for how big the screen is.
Speedrunning themes makes me anxious
